Lilith was born with a unique gift. A blessing some said. A miracle others cried. But to Lilith it will always be a curse.

Lilith did not make friends easily. Who wanted to call the "weird girl" a friend when she would blurt out randomly that someone would be struck by a vehicle or that one of her neighbors' homes would be burned down. All of them came true and she was considered a pariah. Bad luck followed Lilith. It brought shame to her family who wanted to seize the potential of the gift for their own benefit. In an act of defiance, Lilith ran away from home, or rather from a place more akin to prison than home.

Resorting to fend for herself, Lilith had to steal to get what she needed, be it food or water or a place to sleep. Quick and wily for her age she outran authorities, but ended up having nowhere she could settle down.

Lilith's power still came into play. She could sense how people felt and play on that when she would beg or steal. A mother's sadness opened many doors. Lilith found few people she got along with, short-term allies to help her out of a jam or give her some work. As she got older, she learned more and grew in her abilities.

Eventually, all good things come to an end when Lilith was hit with a vision of a spacecraft crashing into a planet, resulting in the deaths of over a thousand people. She was overheard by some others, but they paid the weird woman no mind.

Until the spacecraft hit.

Blame was quickly put on Lilith's shoulders and, despite her best efforts, was rounded up and caught, sentenced, and locked away to parts unknown. No amount of explanation was needed. To some, she was a murderer. To others, a hero.

Either way, she was royally screwed.

Character Description

Name: Flirn Kolvlaki

Species: Human

Reason for being on the ship: Flirn was unfortunately in the wrong place in the wrong time, all with the wrong people. He worked for an organization as a scrapper, helping to salvage space junk, scrap ships, and other such things. Unfortunately for him, he was completely unaware that his work turned out to be highly illegal, with the higher ups in his company taking advantage of his lack of awareness. He was co-erced into doing things of dubious legality, and other things being very much illegal. He was caught transporting highly illegal contraband to Earth, unaware of what he was transporting. While did not know of the crimes he was unwittingly committing and certainly would not have committed them if he were aware of it, he found himself on a prison ship, ready to be shipped off to a labour camp.

Appearance: Flirn is a deceptively muscular man. He is tall and lithe, standing at around 5 feet and 8 inches. While his body seems thin and weak, he carries a strength to him due to his work in heavy labour. His skin is pale and his eyes are a bright green colour. He keeps himself clean and well trimmed. A small moustache covers his top lip and a goatee covers his chin. His hairstyle is short and well groomed, often slicked back in a sort of style that would fit a business salesman. His hair colour is a dark brown. On the right side of his head, a metal implant sticks out with a set of three indicator lights. The first light is often blank while the second and third are green under normal conditions. However, when he is highly stressed or undergoing other such poor mental conditions, the first indicator light turns orange and the final light turns yellow. When he is badly injured, the first two indicator lights turn red and the last turns orange, however when he is unconscious and wounded, the last light is red. The implant however is entirely cosmetic. It serves no purpose other than to indicate mood and vitals. His right leg is synthetic, being a robotic limb covered in a synthetic layer of rubber in order to emulate skin. It has a layer of heated fluid as lubricant, in order to make it seem more like an organic limb rather than something artificial. Across the right side of his torso, he has a few jagged scars and a section of discoloured flesh. Covering his eyes is a sort of yellow-tinted opaque visor. Though he would never say the reasoning for the visor, it's safe to assume it's simply to hide his eyes.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Skills:

Higher than average strength: Flirn has worked in depth with heavy labour. He has worked years lifting heavy materials, working with bulky equipment, and breaking apart scrap. As such, he has toned muscular definition and can more effectively carry out actions requiring strength.

Skill with industrial equipment: Due to his work as a scrapper, he has intimate knowledge of industrial equipment. From large-scale industrial machinery to handheld tools. He also has quick learning in new equipment, finding it easy to learn how to safely operate equipment that's otherwise new to him.

Environmental resistance: Due to a great deal of exposure and adaptation in harsh environments, he has a strong resistance to environments and climates that might otherwise give a typical human difficulty. Though his cold resistance might be lacking, he has a great resistance to heat especially and may find his tolerance to heat stroke may make him an excellent survivalist in extreme conditions. However, he's not infallible. In incredibly harsh conditions, especially cold and/or damp environments, he may not survive as well.

Weaknesses:
Intellectually compromised: After extensive brain damage, Flirn finds himself struggling with highly complex thought and multi-level analysis. While he's mostly recovered from the injury, he still remains partially brain damaged. He was going to undergo his final neurosurgery treatment, however, being convicted as a criminal meant he was able to fully heal. He especially finds paradoxes and such things highly confusing.

Socially impaired: Flirn struggles heavily with communicating effectively and may even experience extreme social anxiety when in a large group. He struggles to communicate the words in his head and can stutter extensively. Occasionally, he may lock up in speech and be unable to speak entirely until he manages to restore his composure.

Pacifistic tendencies: Ever since the incident that lead to his brain damage, he's turned pacifistic. The thought of violence can make him sick and he tries to avoid harming anything as much as possible. If he truly must commit an act of violence in order to protect himself, he will, but he may become reclusive afterwards. He's strictly against violence and has a negative opinion of those who frequently commit acts of violence. He is very capable of defending himself, though he's incredibly unlikely he will do so.

Backstory:
Flirn was born into a rather poor, insignificant family. Though they tried their best to provide to him, he learned self-dependence from an early age. He was born in Warsaw, Poland, but his family moved to the Glasgow, Scotland when he was still a young boy, thanks to a family friend who helped them fund the immigration. His mother was plagued with health conditions and so his father worked himself to the bone to support his family. Flirn had an older brother who began working as early as he legally could, and a younger sister who was more of a freeloader than anything. His father worked for a ship parts manufacturer and brother worked in a food processing plant.

Though he loved his family very much, when he was 16, he left to go find employment and make a name for himself. He always had a fascinating for hard work and manual labour. Eventually, he managed to get a job in a warehouse hauling cargo. For a while, he felt very satisfied with his job, the exhausting labour leaving him feeling good with himself. However, when he 20, a mysterious figure offered him a new opportunity. A job as a salvage specialist, with more benefits and better pay than his previous job. The situation was rather suspicious, but Flirn, being naive and far too trusting took the job.

After working for a year planet-side, he was able to prove himself in his profession and eventually was promoted to an orbital salvage specialist, being permitted to take a shuttle into space and salvage the plentiful scrap floating around the planet. Things went well for him and he enjoyed a few years of solid work, making a name for himself in the industry. It wasn't legal work of course, but he was blissfully unaware of such things. Unfortunately, everything changed when he was involved in a horrible industrial accident. While piloting a shuttle back down to the planet, he experienced a catastrophic systems failure. While he was able to pilot the shuttle into a grove of trees that helped reduce the impact, the resulting crash left him heavily damaged, with the right side of his body especially damaged. He lived, but required immediate surgery.

Following the incident, he had to get his right leg amputated and replaced with an advanced mechanical prosthetic. He also suffered severe brain trauma. Fortunately, due to his work, he was able to afford neural regrowth surgeries. However, due to the extensive nature of the damage, he had to undergo multiple treatments. His final treatment was scheduled, which was unfortunately never undergone. He suffered headaches occasionally and very bright lights caused him physical pain. He was forever changed from the incident. He went from a kind, intelligent young man to someone of compromised intelligence, somewhat of an anxious brute. While much of him was restored, they were never truly able to recover his mind to the state it was once at. He was still dedicated to wanting to help people, though his mind had changed drastically. Unfortunately for him, this lead to his employers taking advantage of him further. Once he recovered, he returned to work. He was given jobs with far more dubiously legal and outright illegal work, all while he was completely unaware as to how he was being taken advantage of. It wasn't long before the law caught up with him and the company he worked for, with many employees getting arrested. He never knew he was doing something so awful, for the poor bloke trusted people to his own detriment. He now heads for a labour camp, while being hurt of such a horrible betrayal.

Character Description

Name: Molybdenum

Sex: N/A
Age: The resident skeleton is thought to be upwards of 200 years old. But his localised consciousness has only been separate from the main contingent for under 2 years.
Reason for being on the ship: The Kiellar dissident leader known as Lorthrac crash landed on Molybdenum's home planet at an unknown time around the fragmentation of the Kiellar command. He is believed to have died on impact. When official contact was made with the planet, survey drones identified his mostly fossilised skeleton based on dental scans when it was seen moving around seemingly trying to communicate with the automated drones. The Dhasath exploration ship found this very strange but realised they could cash in his bounty. In order to preserve the skeleton's mobility they captured it in a slightly modified brig EVA suit and they shipped him off planet hastily. He was transferred onto the next suitable Mazdhul prison transport ship. The sentience known as Molybdenum only formed sometimes after the Containment Suit was placed around Lorthrac's remains. All he has known so far are the bowels of a prison transport ship. He has some very vague understanding of where he came from.
Appearance: A clunky humanoid spacesuit. The helmet is fused into the sternum plates. The tinted visor is normally black reflective, but in the right light you can make out skull clouded by dark gas. Within the mouthpiece of the visor is an gaslock that houses translator nanites and a Comms system to facilitate his communication.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Skills: The relative pressure within his suit is several atmospheres of Caldera-3 meaning he is capable of lifting massive weights. He doesn't need to eat or drink. His "skin" is as durable as a spacesuit, because that's what it is. He is a very fast learner and highly adaptable because he has had to learn how to survive a completely alien environment for the past 3 years. He is naturally space proof in his current state, and he doesn't need to worry about suffocating or drowning. He also doesn't possess any organs or tissue to be affected by radiation or thermal stress (the main worries of energy weapons, though the kinetic energy may still knock him about, and the massive blast from Ragon weaponry would probably blow a big hole is his suit.)
Weaknesses: Massively susceptible to puncture damage. If his suit seal is broken, he will die within seconds. He spends more than half of his time in a catatonic sleep-like state. He is an alien living in an alien world, his social skills are incredibly basic; he doesn't understand simple concepts like currency or ethics. In fact, he struggles to understand most abstract concepts like pain, death, individuality, empathy, and he is completely unaware of the scale of the universe.

Appearance: Though technically 6’1”, Larce often slouches or hangs around in a relaxed pose making his height difficult to judge. He takes immense pride in his appearance. Even in the middle of nowhere he keeps his face completely clean shaven and his jet black hair well maintained, slicked back with whatever product he can get his hands on to give full view to his shimmering dark brown eyes. Outside of any disguises, his preference is for well fitted and tailored suits. Though given his current situation, he’ll settle for anything that’s not a burlap sack.

Skills:

• Silver Tongue - Any time at any occasion, Larce just knows what to say and how to say it. He could calm a raging Ragon, sweet talk his way through Kiellar command, and weave such elaborate stories even he can’t tell which parts are true or not.
• Master of disguise - Larce can assume any facade and never break character. All he needs is a part to play and maybe some costume supplies and he’ll become a whole new person.
• Slight of hand - With a wave of his hand or a flick of his wrist, Larce can change the suit of a card, pull a coin from behind someone’s ear (or more likely their pocket), and conjure a weapon seemingly out of thin air.

Weaknesses:

• Float like a butterfly, sting also like a butterfly - Dodging punches is one thing, but throwing them? Not exactly Larce’s strong suit. Unless he has a weapon of some kind, Larce is better off avoiding a fight.
• Gambling? I’m in! - Wagers, Games of chance, both are incredibly enticing to Larce, especially when he knows how to tilt the odds in his favor. It’s hard for him to ever turn down a bet, even when it is not the time or place.
• My fingers were crossed! - Honor and integrity are foreign concepts to Larce. As long as he stands to gain from it, there is no word he won't go back on or bond he won't break.

Backstory:

The hustle was always the same: Enter a new system. Case every casino or gambling ring. Identify marks, typically people with more money than brains, then build connections with said marks while slowly bleeding them and the establishments dry. Keep up appearances until an opportunity to separate either from a significant amount of their wealth arises, or they start to catch wise. Either way it all ended the same; Take the loot, skip town, repeat.

It was a wild, dangerous, and reckless way to live, but it was never boring. Exactly how Larce Feru wanted it.

Of course, it would be near impossible to disappear if the powers in the galaxy were organized, but thankfully chaos was king around here. None of the governing factions were cooperating and syndicates were afraid to step out of their territories. It meant making a clean getaway was as easy as hopping to the next state or system and laying low for a while. Then when the cash started to run out, it was time to take it from the top.

After striking it big in the Republic of Sedathnas, Larce couldn’t help but take note of the shabling state the neighboring Mazdhul Republic had found itself in. It would be almost too easy to slip in and get to work, which is exactly what he did.

Maybe the scheme had gotten too stale. Maybe it was a trap set by someone Larce wronged years ago. Or maybe his luck had finally run out. Whatever the case, Larce found that this payday wasn’t the easy take he believed.

Thanks to Admiral Tindrurr, the once splintered state came together almost spontaneously. The borders were practically locked down to prevent any further invasion from neighboring systems, and with anarchist panic taking hold of the remaining Mazdhul planets, their first order of business was to crack down on any suspicious activity or individuals.

It was inevitable Larce would end up on their radar. With nowhere to go or anyone to turn to, the gambler was quickly apprehended by Mazdhul authorities and tossed into an interrogation room. Though he may not have been directly linked to any anarchist groups, with his rap sheet it didn’t matter. A trail wasn’t even necessary. They simply wanted him locked in a cell and forgotten. After being passed around several facilities, Larce found himself on one last ship ride to what would be his final destination. but lady luck it seems was still on Larce’s side after all.

Alias: CJ (Calamity Jane) Marshall
Species: Human cyborg
Sex: Female
Age: 30
Reason for being on the ship: Two counts of second-degree murder, and a long list of misdemeanors.
Appearance: In a word, weathered. She stands at six feet, but usually slouches lower. Her hair is ash blonde, in a messy ponytail that some would call practical and she would call easy. She looks out from beneath her hat's brim with one glaring green eye and the other showing only the glassy gaze of a cheap cybernetic. Her lower jaw, left arm, and both her legs are the same: bionics that were made to keep functioning no matter the conditions, but look more like industrial equipment than augmentations.
Her outfits are designed entirely for practicality; she wears whatever she can fit around her bionics.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills:
Bar Brawler Extraordinaire: CJ's left hook was solid before it was made of steel alloy. Now it's a bone-breaker.
Self-taught Engineer: Cybernetic tune-ups cost money, but a toolkit is easy to pick up. It helps that she often had to deal with temperamental machinery in her mercenary days, and deal with absolute shitheaps as a pirate.
Dead Eye: Her cybernetic eye is actually a lot more functional than it appears, with zoom, night vision, and thermal modes. It also helps her line up impressive shots, but has to recalibrate after firing.
Live by the Sword: CJ is no stranger to violence, and doesn't flinch when it comes knocking. She has military training somewhere in her mess of a head, and it's kept her alive and kind of intact.

Weaknesses:
Death Warmed Over: CJ looks like she was reanimated by the lowest bidder, which isn't too far from the truth; nobody wants to be looking at her for longer than they have to.
Friendly as a Polecat: She's got a grudge against the galaxy, and it shows in her temper. She knows better than to pull a pistol in the heat of the moment, but she has been known to take a swing at someone that crosses her.

Backstory: A former soldier, turned merc, turned pirate, then presumed dead after an accident with a rocket launcher. To her surprise, she woke up on an operating table with a lot more metal and a lot less booze in her than she was used to. The particularly strange thing was that she woke up in the clinic alone, at least until two very large and very irritated men started kicking in the door. CJ grabbed her sidearm and got the drop on them in a lethal manner. She poked her head out to find that she was in a relatively populous settlement; not the sort of place where shooting first is an acceptable method of conflict resolution. The fact that she was a half-dressed mechanical monstrosity certainly didn't help.
After that, she went quietly when the authorities showed up; one quick trial later, she was bound for someplace where she'd be someone else's problem. It was then that she decided she'd be everyone else's problem.

Name: Charnud of Ingiros
Species: Kiellar
Sex: A Man
Age: Around 70 standard rotations~
Reason for being on the ship: Long-time fugitive due to acts of piracy. He was captured after nearly twenty solar rotations of evading the law. Strangely, he has committed no crimes since ten years ago, having been traced and arrested in a Makerist monastery by the Mazdhul military police.
Appearance:







Gunslinger: Being a former pirate, Charnud is a skilled gunslinger. He favours high powered pistols and shotguns.

Survival in the Wilderness: He knows just about every survival technique under the stars.

Delicious In Prison: Somehow turns leftovers, terrifying fauna, and rations into masterpieces.



Low G Physique: Due to coming from a poorly funded asteroid colony that lacked the energy to keep gravity plating fully functional at all times and in all sections of the habitats, the artificial gravity he'd lived in had been rarely at 'normal' levels for most of his life. As a result, Charnud has lower stamina and endurance compared to most of the sapients deposited on Caldera 3, and is currently struggling to adapt to living in a 'standard' level of gravity.





Charnud never wanted to become a pirate.

The Kiellar Command had never been the most stable of entities. As a military dictatorship, its rule was a fragile, delicate balance, and when that balance was broken, the most powerful state in the Andromeda Galaxy shattered. Supply lines collapsed, and worlds and habitats that relied on imports found themselves cut off and unable to survive.

One of those habitats was Quendua Station, a port and mining asteroid settlement in a minor fringe system of the Kiellar Command. Here, Charnud of Ingiros had been living a more or less normal life as one of many asteroid miners whose labor fuelled the industrial machine of the Kiellar Command. It was not an easy life, but it was an honest living. Amongst friends and family, it was not too bad of an existence.

And then, twenty years ago, the Command broke apart, and the shipments stopped coming.

Quendua Station was never meant to be self-sustaining, and could never have been. Its population began to starve within just a week. Charnud would be among those who tried to trade the minerals they mined for food from the closest inhabited systems, but soon, it became an untenable situation. Their interstellar neighbours knew that Quendua Station was desperate, and increasingly jacked up their prices to take advantage of it. Those who tried to leave were turned back by all the ports they tried to berth in. Other factions came upon the station, extorting what little resources they had in return for not murdering them all. Less and less food could be brought back, and soon, despite their best efforts, they were heading towards starvation.

It was at this time that a fateful decision was reached. Other systems refused to take them in and took advantage of their desperation. The miners, Charnud among them, turned to piracy, transforming their now pointless mining ships into jury-rigged gunships.

Charnud was, at this point, an angry man. The Others had taken advantage of Quendua Station, willfully consigned his friends and family to starvation simply to garner more profit. He wished for them to feel the same pain they went through, and he made it so. It quickly became apparent that he was a natural pirate, skillful in all the ways that mattered. Soon, he was an officer on the “flagship” of the Quendua pirates, the Nírnaeth Arnoediad, usually simply known as the Nirn.

For a time, it seemed that this would be how he would lead the rest of his life, committing piracy in the high stars. That is, until his young brother, Hesiod, was killed in a boarding action that he led. It was his first.

Charnud had been the one who insisted that Hesiod was ready. Both of them had been eager to partake in the same acts of violence that had defined the Nirn and its crew, all of it justified as revenge.

With Hesiod's death, however, Charnud was, in simple terms, broken. After three solar months, he concluded that in his quest for vengeance against those who had wronged the people of Quendua Station, he had lost sight of why he had gone aboard the Nirn to begin with. He wanted his friends and family fed and safe. And he had failed on both counts.

Charnud would at this point go off on his own, unsure what he should do next. He would join a monastery, who asked no questions about the pasts of their members. For a time, it seemed that he would live out the rest of his days as a monk.

That is, until ten years later, when the Mazhdul Republic’s military police raided the compound and arrested Charnud for his previous acts of piracy. A mining colony would have been his end when, in a stroke of fate, or perhaps divine intervention, the prison barge crew mutinied before dropping him and other prisoners off on Caldera 3.

The Maker has a plan, then. He just knew there was.

Name: Saeyeon Kim
Species: Human
Sex: Female
Age: 28
Reason for being on the ship: Captured during a raid and held as an “unlawful combatant”

Appearance:

Skills: Military training, vocal mimicry and ventriloquism.
Weaknesses: Decent chance that she might be brainwashed by warlord scientists when captured at a prison camp. Also might be imagining someone

Backstory: Kim Saeyeon was born and raised in Sejong City, South Korea. Growing up, she was active in performance arts and took part in her high school and college drama and theater clubs. Though after graduating from college with a degree in accounting, she decided to enlist in the South Korean Army, having found the acting scene to be quite limiting and overcompetitive after finding minimal luck in community theaters and extras in shows and commercials. She also couldn’t bear to continue working as a cast member at some theme park for more than a couple of years.

In the military, she developed important skills such as teamwork, survival, and energy weapons training and found herself part of the Army Special Warfare Command, 707th Battalion. She remained in the military for a few years and was honorably discharged. Still needing ways to make a living since her Seoul apartment isn’t that affordable even sharing with a roommate, Saeyeon took up work as an accountant. It paid the bills but it wasn't really a job that she wanted for the most part.

When the United Nations started to send mercenaries to the Andromeda galaxy, she quickly volunteered, eager to visit another galaxy and get some excitement in her life. Working alongside other UN backed mercenaries, Kim took part in fighting warlord soldiers, guarded refugee camps, and provided security escorts. Occasionally, she would use her ventriloquist skills to perform with a puppet for the refugee youths and if some of the other mercenaries are up for it, little stage plays. The job had its ups and downs but she found it preferable to working at an office job.

At least until rather recently during a mission, her unit was ambushed in a raid by warlord soldiers with her being one of the few survivors and was knocked out. Saeyeon was taken to a labor camp after her capture. She doesn’t remember much about her experience there. She remembered being woken up by Kiellar doctors there and then being sent to work under grueling conditions. She remembered that she struck up an unlikely friendship with a Kieller female named Vesol of Rirbrach. Vesol was a soldier who was disillusioned by the Command, ultimately opposed the Command and their many warlords and was arrested as an anarchist. She also remembered that Vesol led a bunch of inmates to riot and break out from the camp. Kim herself took part in the uprising and was close to escaping with some of the other inmates but the uprising failed when the guards were reinforced and many were mercilessly gunned down.

Saeyeon and the remaining inmates were taken by Mazdul ships to be sent to another labor camp and she was separated from the other inmates who took part in the uprising. She didn’t see Vesol after the guards fired upon the inmates but in the ship she was in, she swore of seeing a familiar face. Kim also has felt some headaches while in the ship, possibly a fever of some sort.
