Government Type:
The Augustan Empire is ruled under an Absolute Monarchy of sorts, the Emperor’s word and decrees being the law of the land. Under the Emperor is the Imperial Senate, who are to handle the daily functions within the Empire, passing laws and enacting his decrees, as well as acting as an advisory council to the Emperor. Between the Emperor and the Imperial Senate are the Noble Houses. The Noble Houses were once the First Families of the old Augustan Realms, and with the transition to Empire, the First Families had quickly ascended into becoming Noble Houses that held great influence within the Empire.

Demographics:
The citizens of the Empire consist of countless species and offshoots, both human and xeno alike. However, there are those among the Empire that stand out among the masses.
Humans

Baseline(Augustans)

The most common and populous form of humanity that inhabits every corner of the Empire.

Talarans.

The people of Talar are a visually distinct form of humanity, the result of generations of Yrrani experimentation on the human brain, selectively breeding and genetically tailoring the population with greater psionic potential and high IQs then the average. The results of these experiment bared some fruit in the form of the Talarans, a race of tall, spindly humanoids. Their increased psionic strength and high intelligence made them excellent pet advisors, overseers or other such administrators of high standing. Such talents of the mind come at a cost of physical prowess, however, a Talaran being ill-suited for combat of the physical sort. Another by product of their creation would be the rather strange array of skin tones they are born with.

Skallamites.
Among many forms of humanity, the Empire is home to a significant population of Skallamites, the descendants of a few independent colony worlds that fell to the Empire a few centuries ago.
Xenos

Dathu

A humanoid xenos species of a timid nature native to the world of Datheron. The Dathu made first contact with the Yrrani, and their human servants a thousand years before the present date, their world among the first to form the old Augustan Realms, which in the present, are now the Core Worlds of the Empire. During Pax Yrranus, the Dathu, although unremarkable compared to other species, made for good workers, and if provided with enough training and condition, made adequate soldiers. Now with the Yrrani Empire gone, the Dathu's destiny became an open book, their society growing and maturing during the post-fall period. Many chose to remain as faithful citizens of the new Augustan Empire, others ventured into other corners of the galaxy at the prospect of a new life.

Tseleoti

Approximately two centuries ago, the Augustan Empire had made contact with a region of settled systems belonging to a loose coalition of Tseleoti Queendoms in the periphery region of the Hazmadi Reach. For a time the Empire tolerated their presence until an unfortunate incident had accord that led to what would be known as the Hazamadi War. A conflict that would last four years ending with an Imperial victory, the Empire further cementing control of the Hazmadi Reach and annexing the Queendoms in the process. The the now defeated Queens would be allowed some autonomy and rule within their domains, but were first and foremost subjects of the Empire and to the Imperial House of Valdrim.

Rheteno.

After the Rheteno Empire had fallen to the Concordat, a number of Noble Houses had taken all they could and fled beyond their borders to establish colonies elsewhere, a number of those colonies were in close proximity to the Augustan Empire, the Noble Houses of these rogue realms came forward to the Empire, offering their services and territories in exchange of Imperial protection from the Concordat. The Empire accepted these terms for the most part, with some minor alterations. The Rheteno Realms would be protected, and the Nobles would keep their titles and territories intact, however, they now must pay tithes to and swear fealty to the Imperial House of Valdrim, as new subjects of the Empire.

Military:







History:
The origins of the Augustan can be traced back to the twilight years of the Yrrani Empire. During the height of Pax Yrranus, the Augustan Realms, a group of human-settled systems that served as a regional breadbasket within the Empire, its many Agriworlds providing resources to systems far and wide. The Realms once under the leadership of the long-standing First Families that have formed a monopoly in their industry and have morphing into a form of local aristocracy within the Realms.

When the war and Great Fall followed, the Augustan Realms had fallen victim to countless incursions by pirates, warlords and would-be conquers. Without the protection of the Yrrani Empire's mighty fleets, their worlds were razed or occupied for decades to come. With time, the Augustan Realms had managed to fight back against the various invaders, but were barely holding on, the First Families quickly losing control as the galaxy fell apart. However, a single figure rose to be the voice and face of a new movement of self-determination and ascension, Marcus, Patriarch of the Valdrim family. The leaders of the First Families were under the delusion that the Empire would come to save them, to save their ever loyal subjects. Marcus Valdrim, however, knew that they were on their own from this point forward.

It was time for the Augustans to forge their own destiny, to rise from farms and vineyards, and at long last, take their place amongst the stars. Many among the First Families were still in denial, and rejected Marcus' words, while many others, lent their ears to him.

Marcus and his faction had gained a much larger following, gathering more support among the people and the elites alike, which made the ruling lords increasingly nervous as their power was quickly being challenged. A new order was on the rise, and little did they know, there was nothing they could to stop it.

Four years after the birth of his movement, arcus Valdrim, with the support of a portion of the First Families and the common people, had launched a coup on the Capital of the Realms, Augusta Prima. Augusta Prima for a week, would turn into a warzone as Marcus' Supporter’s battled against the loyalist’s street by street. It was a hard-fought battle, but eventually Marcus’ forces had overwhelmed the loyalists, the Assembly Palace under his control.

Broadcasting from Augusta Prima, Marcus had declared his victory over the old regime, and declared the formation of a new nation for his people, the Augustan Empire, proclaiming himself its first Emperor. The coronation was met with both a new sense of patriotic fervor from his supporters, and a healthy dose of skepticism from those worrying about a potential tyrant.

Regardless of this, the new empire, with its first act, was to move on the offensive, launching its first campaign to retake systems lost to invaders and going beyond, pushing back against their enemies. With time, all their old territories would once again fall under Augustan control, this show of strength further cementing the Valdrim Family's rule for centuries to come. Over four centuries have passed since, after a series of more conflicts, and under the continual guidance of the Imperial House of Valdrim, the Augustan Empire has grown into a great power in the galaxy.

A simple explanation of the Concordat government is that elected councils or congresses from the local level elect another layer repeatedly till you reach the Holy Congress as major legislature and the Anointed Synod as executive council. In simplification it loses much, but the description of the Concordat as a religious, nested democracy or republic is not totally inaccurate.

Officially and formally the ‘Righteous Concordat of Heavenly Peace’ in long form, and the ‘Righteous Concordat’ in official short form but most commonly just referred to as the Concordat even by its own peoples.

The Concordat is structured around a vast number of councils and communities interconnected through committees and conclaves connecting them in a vast system. These groups are elected by the distinct communities they represent, often giving additional influence to recognized minorities or special groups in a rather complex network. These communities form larger associations and congresses which all lead to the ‘Holy Congress of All-Righteous Followers of the Heavenly Peace’, referred to often as just the Congress, or Holy Congress depending. From there a rotating selection of speakers for the Congress are selected as are notable positions in the formal executive committee, the ‘Anointed Synod of the Servants of Heavenly Peace’ or the Synod or Anointed Synod. It is the Synod that is seen as the executive and primary leadership especially outside the Concordat, although the frequent elections and resignations and recalls of the Congress and many lower bodies create a great churn in the body politic that seems very odd to many outsiders used to more stately systems.

Much of the Concordat is actually managed primarily on the ‘local’ level with a few exceptions, the local level primarily defined by the extent of material expansion of settlement- a star system is often the case especially in the more developed regions where not only planetary usage but also extensive work and habitation in habitats throughout the system. Exceptions to this are primarily the result of integrations and expansions, that being the integration of extant systems or the expansion over an already settled area. This has resulted in some integrated Republics above the local level that function as semi-autonomous interstellar regions- although these have been changed and integrated in the past into the broader system as times have changed.



Faith and Ideology have deep roots in the Concordat, both foundational across the centuries. Faith is often the most apparent given the iconography and language of the Concordat. Really there is no singular religion of the Concordat- what there is instead is a series of religions and movements, old and new, ones that have only developed after the collapse and under Concordat rule and adaptations of older faiths in line with more modern expectations and values. All the recognized faiths that are officially included in the Concordat system have some basic trends, anti-hierarchic organization, reverence of science and progress, ànd broad all-sapient appeal. This in many ways leaves open vast differences between recognized faiths, understanding one another as fellow travelers.

While this seems rather permissive to some, this is fairly clear that faiths that don’t match but are not repugnant to them are allowed to exist- but only in private. No channels or network is provided for them to communicate, no aid except the individual actions and choices of its followers, no grand events or ceremonies, no temples built. Only the actions of a significant population protect these faiths, the Concordat rather than crush them is content to strangle and let them either adapt or slowly fade away to be forgotten as time passes.

Ideology has a strong impact as well, rather than explaining the world, this is the political program of what to do in the world. Similarly the Concordat is filled with a multitude of currents and ideas both now and throughout its history. Much is influenced by the ever present faiths of the Concordat- but some remain apart, even if far from popular in the intensely religious society that forms the basis of the Concordat.

Although minor populations do exist of numerous species and peoples throughout Concordat space, much of the population is made of the following.



There are roughly eight major groups of Humans and Human-descendants in the Concordat, likely as a result of their rather widespread population dispersal and the vast changes often present between such dispersed groups with access to high technology. Only five of these groups consider themselves part of the greater Human species or group at this point in the Concordat, which is the main part of the basis that the Concordat uses to determine such.

Baseline

Generic term for a variety of humans who accumulate without major difference from the general capabilities or appearance of the majority of humanity and the assumed human source. They generally make up a small but notable minority of the Human population in the Concordat, significant populations often being of the more recent integration compared to other Human groups.

Claderans

Hailing originally from the world of Cladera their early industrial civilization was discovered by the Yrrani Empire and uplifted with some augmentation. Augmentation by Yrrani included a series of modifications that resulted in a vast range of colorful hair and skin, some marginal improvements to heavy metal adaptations and several adaptations to survival in environments toxic to baseline humanity. Claderans have a notably reduced natural lifespan without extensive medical intervention, rarely living to half a century, however these adaptations seem to also have reduced the detriments of aging relative to baseline humans, a Claderan of forty years often is far more physically and mentally flexible than a baseline human. It is unknown what the original purpose of many of these augmentations were for however Claderan populations became a regional sensation to have around during the later stages of Empire in the local region.

The Claderans were some of the first portions of Humanity that were integrated into the Concordat, and although great aid was established to attempt to increase the lifespan of the Claderan peoples, results were fairly minimal until the Human augmentation boom two centuries after the foundation of the Concordat with the inclusion of the eventual Voidfolk and Kenhera groups.

Skallamites

Originally discovered by the Yrrani in the aftermath of a minor planetary nuclear exchange the Yrrani were welcomed as saviours and liberators, making the imposition of Imperial rule quite easy. Augmentation of the population of Skallam began a few decades later with attempts to make further experimentation of notable mutations in the Skallamite population. The program continued secretly to the major population for several decades longer until a final uplift included the entire population establishing mass mental psionic augmentations that while successful left much to be desired. Nonetheless many Skallamites were kept as notable servants during the Empire, particularly as overseers of certain populations in no small part due to their outward appearance vastly similar to baseline human populations.

After the Empire most Skallamites remained on the homeworld of Skallam itself along with the Soulings, although a number integrated into other human populations throughout knownspace. Skallam itself was integrated into the Concordat roughly a century and a half ago after a short period of negotiations with the prior Autonomous Collective of Skallam.

Voidfolk

The Voidfolk are a human group descended from the population of the Scyrana System, Scyranus Major in particular. The Yrrani encountered the Scyrana System while the local human population had been extensively settled across the system although they had not developed any faster than light technology or artificial gravity. The system was in the midst of a political split where the main world of Scyranus Major was feuding with its ex-colonies across the system, primarily in various habitats and stations. The Voidfolk descend from those ex-colonies who accepted Subjugation under the Yrrani while Scyranus Major fought and was annihilated.

The Voidfolk would take augmentation although the exact cause or timeline is unknown in the modern day, extensively modified for better survival in microgravity conditions, notable external features as a lack of any hair, greater flexibility in limbs and prehensile feet. They would be rediscovered by a Kenhera exploration vessel, their populations primarily living in vast voidfaring vessels and would be integrated into the Concordat several years after their discovery.

Kenhera

The Kenhera’s exact origins are unknown but it is assumed to be either from Yrrani experimentation or from human cultures seeking organic-machine synthesis on their own. What is known is that by the end of the Yrrani Empire the Kenhera were a nomadic series of fleets, exchanging information and technical assistance for resources as they plied trade routes. Many of these convoys kept in contact with each other even as some accepted association with the Concordat. It was during an expansionary period of Concordat history roughly two centuries after the founding following the Yrrani collapse that most of the Kenhera trade routes were subsumed and later the Kenhera were integrated as well.

Physically there is no singular general appearance one can give for the Kenhera, as while they are biologically of Human stock, they practice extensive biological and mechanical augmentation on an individual level. It is one of their core beliefs as a primarily sociocultural group that the individual must create their own form and development. Often older Kenhera can reach ages further than many baseline humans although few would even recognize the general shape of these older Kenhera as anything close to baseline humanity. Some Kenhera remain roughly similar to baseline humans with minimal cybernetics but the majority will replace most of their body over time.



Three groups who consider themselves descended from humanity but not part of the human species or grouping

Axologol



Descendants of a group of Baseline Humans trapped in a novel dimension, either as an experiment or an abandoned exploration team, by an unknown group or individual of Yranni Imperial operations and only freed during the great unrest of the Empire’s collapse, the Axologol found themselves greatly altered by the energies and conditions of the Dimension they found themselves put in, their bodies reminiscent of human form but often vastly different, no longer being entirely formed of regular matter. This was actually a cause of great issue for the Axologol who could no longer reproduce without the vast and strange energies of that permeated their dimension until replication of conditions by the Concordat allowed for both easier living and the continuation of their people

The Axologol often appear not entirely similar to each other but generally have a greatly skeletal physical appearance, an almost total lack of melanin necessitating special care under stellar radiation particularly as well as notable psionic and pseudo-psionic capabilities.

Clanlings

The ‘failed’ experiment of creating a gestalt intelligence by Yrrani in times past, rather than being an intelligence capable of vast communication and work instead the similar to human bodies were linked in only a short ranged psionic link that that also failed to propagate beyond 5-9 bodies. The resulting subjects were dumped on a marginally habitable world and told to be worthy of a return and then promptly forgotten about until their rediscovery by Concordat exploration teams.

Clanlings generally are very capable in each ‘family’, as the gestalt groups are called, being capable of working together vastly better than even highly trained individuals of baseline humans. However this psionic link is both blessing and curse as the disruption from the death of more than one body in relatively quick succession results in the essential incapacitation of the rest of the gestalt family from the backlash.

Clanlings are also notable for being able to survive for long periods of time or possible immortality, even if not invincible in any sense. Rather by chaining connection with younger bodies and being exceedingly careful over the long lifespan as the psionic link that makes up the basis of the Clanling mind can be maintained even as individual bodies age and die. No current limit to this has been found chronologically but it may simply be too soon to tell.

Soullings

Another ‘failed’ experiment, the attempt was a further modification of Skallamites by a later team seeking to make an energy based psionic organism that would be beyond Skallamite capabilities. While successful on creating an energy based psionic organism, the Soullings were fairly disconnected from rather material reality, had difficulty interacting or manipulating physical matter, and were generally considered too distractible. They were released into the atmosphere of Skallam itself and considered a failure of approach. It took some time for both some measure of contact and connection to be maintained by the Skallamites, although they had been integrated with the rest of Skallam before the expansion of the Concordat to the world of Skallam itself.



Species alien in biology and manner to the strangely widespread population of Humanity.

Eekrtch



The Eekrtch are one of the founding members of the Concordat, notable for their particular introduction of heavily anti-authoritarian and anti-hierarchical thought in the early Concordat due to their experiences under the Yrrani Empire. While somewhat physically imposing compared to baseline humans, the Eekrtch evolved on a significantly lower gravity world than standard, resulting in a rather brittle and weak constitution. Many take up augmentation to make up for this especially after centuries of Concordat development but much of their natural biology suffers under high-gravity conditions still.

Ckoru



A species rediscovered after the fall of the Yrrani Empire by the expanding Concordat, the Ckoru were thought to have been killed during the Yrrani civil war as their space habitats were crashed into the military positions of some faction of Yrrani by another faction. Their worlds were also heavily bombarded due to the suspicion of their tunnels being used as a storage point. As a result many thought them extinct if it wasn’t for an apparently lost colonyship surviving- the fate of the rest of their species had brought them much despair.

Over the course of their membership of the Concordat several other pockets of the Ckoru were found, each time to their great joy. The Ckoru are notably not capable of sensing light, instead relying on a developed ecolocation system and vibrational sensing.

Valassag



While intelligent long before the Yrrani, it was only with their arrival and subjugation of the Valassag aquatic giants that the Valassag managed to advance beyond their limited means. Physically the Valassag had little technic ability, having to rely upon their natural capabilities even if they could conceive the use of much, they had little means to accomplish any delicate or precise work. The Valassag grew a vast civilization under the dominion of the Yrrani but one that was ultimately more fragile than they realized.

The chaos of the hundred years and the collapse of the Empire devastated the civilization of the Valassag and brought their species to a grave despair. Many sought reasons why and the answers found were numerous, whether true or false, material or spiritual. It is a large portion of the Valassag that found an answer in founding the Concordat and its religious message of faith and reason- something that aided their civilization to recover with the aid of others.

Hremarti



One of the founding members of the Concordat the Hremarti are notable for the loss of their homeworld not through the actions of the Yrrani but due to their inaction; a rogue planetoid coming into their homesystem and disrupted planetary orbits leading to the slow circling of the home planet into the local star. The Yrrani found this an excellent opportunity for scientific observation and while the local Hremarti fled their slowly doomed world the Yrrani diverted effort primarily to scientific observation stations in the planetary crust to give greater information of what various forces were doing in the cataclysmic event.

The Hremarti are also notable for a bioluminescent pattern on their bodies and a shiny exoskeleton that was of great use on their mostly dark original homeworld. Hremarti have excellent eyesight and hearing compared to many species, particularly in lowlight conditions.

Dranolara - Digital



The Dranolara were created by the Dranolara- meant to be a mechanical continuation of their species and the two are often separated into the digital and organic respectively; they served as a last hope of continuation by the remnants of an annihilated civilization in the twilight of the Yrrani Empire. The hope was for them to live on and grow in strength far enough outside the usual places to gain revenge on the Empire for their destruction. They were contacted by outsiders roughly a century after the fall of Yrrani Empire, soon coming into conflict with an expanding Concordat they would eventually fight to a cease fire favoring the Concordat and subsequently integrated after a few years of associated status.

Dranolara machine intellects are made in a specific form, rather than being a broader digital intelligence capable of many formats. Evidently a design choice by the Dranolara before them seeking a closer descendant to their own existences. This has in some ways limited them, but in others provides a great deal of advantages to not having their core intellect and sense of self so malleable.

Tseleoti



The Tseleoti are an unusual case of a biological caste species with a rather tumultuous history involving it heavily in their society. Pre-contact Tseleoti society was split between the Free Societies and the Queendoms, biologically a Queen of the Tseleoti is slightly more intelligent according to records but also notably has extensive and paranoid planning as well as significant pheromonal control over nearby Tseleoti of other biological castes. Reproduction wise most biological castes could reproduce but often with far greater difficulty than the vast numbers the Queen caste could with ease. The primary split was between states ruled by these Queens either as monarchies or oligarchies and the Free Societies which maintained republican or democratic societies that often prevented the creation of and killed Queen casted Tseleoti on sight. As this conflict grew in prominence during an industrialized age the war was long and very terrible, ending with mass chemical warfare breaking the Queendoms.

It was then that contact with the Yrrani Empire began with a brief subjugation where the Tseleoti were initially treated as most subjugation species before the value of the pheromonal weakness was discovered. The Yrrani then promptly mass used produced pheromones to force mass loyalty among the Tseleoti creating vast slave armies to throw at inconvenient problems, in the process practically destroying any Tseleoti sense of society.

The first of the new societies of Tseleoti came about after the End of the Empire, in some places reverting to vast primitivism while in others integrating with other species societies and attempting to rebuild their own and understand their original history. One of those societies was the early Concordat which integrated a group of Tseleoti and eventually managed to develop a gene therapy to prevent the compulsion on non-Queen castes of the Tseleoti populations, something they help promulgate every time they integrate another pocket of Tseleoti in their expansions and explorations.

Peltolar



Subjugated by the Yrrani in the Peltolar prehistory, they have survived primarily as a small population imported to some worlds but mostly a growing one on their original planet. Not particularly notable under the Yrrani Empire except as a more common usage of them as brute soldiers, it was only after the fall of the Empire that many Peltolar were noticed by the newly freed civilizations as having excellent spatial awareness making them particularly adept in maneuvering in three dimensions. Somewhat of a holdover on their evolutionary history many Peltolar now found great use in design work and piloting of vessels.

The Concordat began to incorporate small groups of Peltolar as it came across them but only truly gained a large population upon the rediscovery of their home planet which had a rather bad technological regression due to a lack of extensive infrastructure or civilizational knowledge as much had been kept by the Yrrani in automated systems or managed by imported individuals rather than leave the Peltolar self-sufficient. Those systems were destroyed in the final collapse of the Yrrani Empire leaving the burgeoning civilization to collapse away from an interstellar state.

Zenovatlius



Rather massive beings the Zenovatlius were a semiaquatic pacifistic civilization that was subjugated by the Yrrani Empire with some ease. Discovering the roots of their pacifism as considering violence ‘immature’ due to a stage of development in their maturation cycle with high aggression before vastly decreasing as they age and grow. The Yrrani augmented select populations with forced regression to a high aggression state in adulthood through the usage of injections using these populations as shock troopers and often in many cases bloodsport.

This was a great shame to the Zenovatlius and their continued use during the Empire was quietly hated but never forcibly opposed as by then they knew what would await them if they should attempt such broadly as a civilization. Only in the collapse did the Zenovatlius find some peace although their pacifism had been greatly tempered by rule of the Yrrani, some populations had broken with the traditions of their greater civilization even and began the post Yrrani period as warlords on some worlds.

The main Zenovatlius civilization would be one of the founding members of the Concordat, contributing much to the religious and philosophical basis of the growing power.

Rheteno



While not particularly notable during the Empire, the Rheteno managed to do well in its aftermath. A strong Kingdom and then Empire was prevalent during the first two and then later two centuries after the collapse of the Yrrani following first the expansion of a majority Rheteno state and latter imperial period where the state expanded to subjugate several worlds less developed than the stable central Rheteno-majority regions.

It is during the later part of the imperial period when the Rheteno came into conflict with the expanding Concordat roughly four centuries after the fall of the Yrrani, a series of wars erupting on the borders lead to a conflagration that ended after the fourth war with the occupation and dismantlement of the Empire and its aristocracy. Some Rheteno nobles escaped or founded colonies further afield with their power or fled to regions that held them positively but the vast majority found themselves equal to their ‘lessers’ in new systems of the Concordat.

Fundamentally the military of the Concordat is founded on two notable aspects, material over manpower in equipment, and the biomechanical nature of their ships. On the first, doctrine supports the usage of drones, shells, electronic disruption, and every dirty trick they can think of to reduce casualties and make the effectiveness of each soldier go further. On the second, is that some of the larger ships actually shift over to the manpower side of the doctrine due to their intelligent nature. Concordat ships are still plainly constructed, it should be noted, but this is a construction that may rely more on some parts being grown and grafted together rather than a purely mechanical method.

The Army of the Concordat is notable in several aspects, firstly being entirely volunteer based, rather smaller in official numbers than most would recognize although that doesn’t account for various training and military adjacent organizations internal to the Concordat that often serve as reserve forces in case of necessary broader mobilization. This is not to say that the Army is small, rather that it is smaller than one might expect from a large power, often making broad usage of drones and many force multipliers rather than numbers alone. The Concordat doctrine of material over manpower is most apparent in Army operations where the vast multitudes of species of the Concordat can be seen directing drone forces and leading heavily armed pushes against hostile positions. Another factor often forgotten by hostile military planners is that the Concordat Army is often the first into civilian population centers, and also one of the main initial points for liberatory and integration operations. The First Period of Heavenly Peace is also known as the Post-Collapse, a time when the Concordat began the redevelopment of its many peoples and conditions, expanding from ideology and faith to practice strongly across its worlds. It is also a period that includes the incorporation of Tseleoti and Claderan Humans into the Concordat as well as a blossoming of varieties of ideological and religious thought within the Concordat framework.

87-97: Decade without Righteous Paths

Famously or Infamously the Decade without Righteous Paths was a tumultuous time in the history of Concordat democracy where the power of recall was used extensively due to disagreements in organization between the now established delegate system and the ongoing population changes as a result of the expansion and changes of the Concordat from a Post-Collapse society to one that was quite a bit more developed and had more complex internal politics. Famously three times the Holy Congress had enough delegates recalled for new elections to fail to achieve Quorum. The end of this period is the result of both greater exhaustion and reforms to the system of democratic councils to better represent minority groups and their needs against majority wishes.

97-102: Five Years of Righteous Peace

A rather short period, one often glossed over in popular retellings, but vital for the changes that would promulgate before the Dranolara War. These five years would see the greater unification of the Concordat as well as a vast expansion of industrial capacity to all communities under its banner. This would help greatly prepare the Concordat for the shock of the Dranolara War as well as set up for the policies of the Second Period of Heavenly Peace. This period was thought at the time to be a proper continuation of the First Period of Heavenly Peace, but later times would be notated separately- of course at the time the first period was simply called the Heavenly Peace.

102 - Discovery of the Dranolara

102-105: Dranolara War

The discovery of the Dranolara came in 102 After Empire, where the Dranolara Military Command seized control of the exploration vessel Venture in the Black. This allowed the usage of their maps to start a first strike intended to capture many space based industrial assets across Concordat space that was less successful than intended, but far more successful than wished by Concordat defensive planners. Ultimately stretching out for three years the Dranolara would surrender after seeing victory as an impossibility due to the occupation and capture of much of the rogue planet bases the Dranolara had long operated from. Being synthetic life forms was initiating some manner of debate in the Synod but was eventually decided to be integrated as any other lifeform especially under the influence of vigorous argumentation of the Ckoru against biochauvinism.

105-302: Second Period of Heavenly Peace

Long noted as one of the longest and most successful periods in the History of the Concordat, some refer to this period as the Concordat’s golden age. This combines a rather vigorous expansionary tradition with rather intensive development in many systems and in the voids between stars that have seen some stations created. While hardly entirely without conflict, it nonetheless marks a time period wherein the Concordat had no real dire threats or major conflicts beyond what the growing power might classify as localized events. This was especially relevant with the vast expansion of internal developments beyond rather standardized planetary focused developments into migratory caravans connecting various cultures across the great union as well as various larger projects. This included a rather vast expansion of production and resources in advanced automated fields driven in part by advancements from the Dranolara as well as the Kenhera.

302-398: Period of Righteous Liberation

The series of numerous wars of liberation was in major part driven by a gradual change in attitude due to the vast individual prosperity granted by the enormous system wide gathering and mining efforts as well as the numerous stellar swarms powering them. The Concordat always had a strong ideological basis for conflict with many powers that developed in the aftermath of the Yrrani Empire, its strong anti-hierarchical and anti-authoritarian tendencies internally present even if in times of weakness focused far less on external forces. With a combination of religion and ideology, a pseudo-moral justification of prosperity, and finally the vast resources to back it- the result came in a vast series of conflicts and backed revolutions across the near Concordat regions. This resulted in many states a turn away from the Concordat and a repression of aligned groups, something that was not taken well. The resulting invasions would create the future attitude in foreign policy from the Concordat- the most unacceptable systems opposed directly while the more acceptable aligned closer to Concordat values and standards, often with an end of integration.

323 - Skallam Incorporated

398-417: Great Holy War of Liberation

An ultimate capstone to the Period of Righteous Liberation in some views and a completely different focus in others. The Great Holy War of Liberation (sometimes referred to as the Second or the First depending on how it’s counted) was a large conflict between the Concordat and the Rheteno Empire (actually it’s official name translated somewhat differently but was and is referred to as such) which resulted in the Empire’s complete destruction as an independent entity. Starting from a series of border skirmishes as the Concordat expanded into the near reaches of their territory. These skirmishes escalated after the death of shipmind Disciple of the Holy Futurity along with her crew after an ambush by Rheteno aligned mercenaries. The escalation to full war would follow after tense and fruitless negotiations, while the war itself would escalate gradually until the general Concordat population was unwilling to accept a lesser peace especially after the first liberations of Rheteno subjugated worlds. This war would see the collapse of the Rheteno Empire and the vast majority of the Empire incorporated into the Concordat, something that would help spark the Third Period of Heavenly Peace due to the extensive requirements of both rebuilding former imperial worlds as well as general exhaustion of the most aggressive factions at least until the discovery of Tar Yrra.

417 - Incorporation of the Last Rheteno Imperial World

417-450: Third Period of Heavenly Peace

Characterized both by the incorporation and liberation of countless communities previously of the Rheteno Empire and a renewed support for peaceable exploration and expansion due in part to exhaustion from prior conflicts as well as due to greater opportunity allowed by the incorporation of previously Imperial territories. The vast liberation of a multitude of species, including the most numerous being Rheteno themselves, provided a multitude of cultural and social changes and viewpoints that were eagerly adopted and shared across the Concordat. This coincided with a vast revitalization of many worlds previously belonging to the Rheteno Empire, a part of the complete focus on anti-hierarchical changes not just socially or politically but economically as well.

450 - Rediscovery of Tar Yrra

450-496: Reclamation Wars

Rather massively ending the Third Period of Heavenly Peace with the cataclysmic conflicts that it sparked. The Reclamation Wars started not only mass conflicts between great powers seeking to claim and break through to Tar Yrra but also numerous conflicts for position and power in the region- a world which may have been overlooked now could serve as a vital route to the glories and horrors waiting to be unleashed in the sealed site of Tar Yrra. Notably the Reclamation Wars took grave focus of military force from the Concordat, fleets flooding the region to combat other galactic powers and seize strategic opportunities. The Concordat is stuck in an odd position with various factions having very different views of what should be done both in the general situation as well as if the Concordat should actually defeat its opponents. The conflicts served in many ways to bury these concerns due to both the grave difficulty in both the defenses of Tar Yrra as well as combating other powers in their own attempts at access.

496 - Armistice of Jarilla

496-Present: Modern Interwar

In the Modern Period after the Armistice that served to end the bloody destruction of the last Reclamation War there exists a general tension. Although in part attention turned away from the immediate conflict, to rebuilding, to incorporating new territories completely; there remains a strong belief that this is merely a period of rearming. The core issue remains unresolved and the freedoms and faiths across the galaxy remain under threat as long as the possibility of great and evil powers may claim the mantle of dominance of the Yrrani through whatever wonders and horrors remain on their throne world. Fleets have been regrown and assembled, armies recruited, even as the Concordat pushes forward seeking allies- even if it must seek to build movements against the great empires from the ground up to secure the galaxy and the faiths against such evils.

The Bijol are a black bear inspired alien race with shadow druid motifs that worship hyper sentient trees that have sent them on a prophetic journey to conquer the galaxy to proliferate this sentient tree and supporting vegetation. The bear-like aliens are rather unintelligent, and consult with mystic higher intelligence through various druidic rituals, semi-sentient insect oracles, and are led by local shamans on their rhododendron thrones who often consume psychedelic fungi. Bijol rule in an authoritarian, communist manner with oppression and themes similar to the novel 1984.

One such species the Bijol have oppressed is a species of space dwarves who were refugees fleeing from their worlds being eaten by plasma-kudzu. These dwarves were at least somewhat fairly well housed and treated by their original hosts, a nation of orca-like merfolk. These orca-merfolk were ruthless and calculating, but saw the advantages of dwarf labor on the surface of their worlds and deep in mines. It is also possible that the merfolk knew they would need a scape-goat offering for when the Bijol horde was coming to consume their space systems too. This was indeed the case.

When the Bijol battle ships entered merfolk space, and Bijol druidic marines and insect weapons began storming onto their planets, the merfolk capitulated and offered the Bijol all their surface holdings and allowed the dwarf refugees to be nominally enslaved by the Bijol in exchange for monitored autonomy of merfolk life underwater (for now, tensions are rising).

The dwarves have since been impressed into hard labor for the Bijol regime, mainly harvesting strijk sap, a sulfurous electromagnetic goop that is used as sentient-plant food, but the byproduct of strijk consumption by these plants is used as space reactor coolant.

This coolant is bought and used ubiquitously throughout the galaxy and is the Bijol cash crop; however strijk is extremely dangerous to tap-mine, hazardous to handle, and impossible to harvest with automated machinery due to its electromagnetic interference. A perfect chore for the expendable dwarves. So perfect that some have whispered that the Bijol may have long-ago created the plasma-kudzu to displace the dwarves to begin with, or at least the arboreal overlords the Bijol serve may have.

The Bijol Verdancy is a sprawling druidic-authoritarian regime ruled by black bear-like aliens known as the Bijol. Though physically imposing and spiritually zealous, the average Bijol is intellectually simplistic, deeply superstitious, and psychologically dependent upon ritualized communion with higher intelligences.

Those higher intelligences are the Cathedral Groves: colossal hyper-sentient trees believed to predate interstellar civilization itself. These ancient arboreal minds communicate through pheromones, dreams, fungal spores, and electromagnetic "root-song" pulses interpreted by Bijol shamans known as Thornspeakers.

The Cathedral Groves have issued what the Bijol consider the single sacred commandment:
“Spread the Root Beyond the Dark.”

To the Bijol, conquest is not political. It is ecological destiny.

Entire worlds are consumed beneath expanding forests of psychoactive vines, fungal canopies, and black-rooted megaflora. Cities are dismantled and remade into nutrient basins for the Groves. Native species are categorized according to usefulness, be they pollinators or mulch.

The Bijol describe this process as The Softening of Stone.

Physiology
The Bijol resemble broad, heavy black bears standing between 7–9 feet tall when upright. Their bodies are covered in oily dark fur threaded with naturally bioluminescent fungal growths gifted during sacred rites. Their massive stature, clawed forelimbs and thick radiation-resistant fat layers make them vicious melee combatants–a feature their mercurial nature tends to highlight. It is often remarked most of their brain is used for olfaction; while this is somewhat true given their sensory acuity, their poor abstract reasoning ability is perhaps a neural cost for their exceptional instinctive spatial memory.
Most Bijol struggle with advanced mathematics, engineering, or strategic planning without ritual assistance. As a result, nearly all governance and military logistics are mediated through hallucinogenic fungal trances, insect-oracle divinations,or interpretations from the Cathedral Groves. Their senses guide the way to correct answers.

Psychology
Bijol cognition revolves around obedience, communal identity, ecological purpose, and fear of isolation.
The worst punishment in Bijol culture is not death.
It is Rootlessness: exile from fungal communion and sensory severance from the Groves’ psychic field.
A rootless Bijol often becomes catatonic within weeks.

Ideology
The Bijol operate under a suffocating eco-authoritarian doctrine called Verdant Consensus
Collectivist resource control, mystical ecological determinism, total surveillance, and spiritual conformity. Oddly enough, the interpretations of signs and psychopathy of local shamans is often vastly different. And thus the hierarchical structure of these semi-lucid decision trees is quite necessary. Every citizen belongs to a grove,a labor caste, and a ritual observance collective. Knowledge of direct parentage is governmentally restricted, however Bijol are known to sense their connections.
Privacy scarcely exists. And webs of trust are tightly maintained. Children are raised communally beneath dream-spore canopies where Cathedral Grove teachings are transmitted directly into developing minds through controlled hallucinations. Homes are grown from listening wood embedded with sensory fungal membranes capable of detecting emotional distress, dissent, or “anti-growth sentiment.” Though the validity of these allegations is often… interpretable.

Governance Structure: The Root Choir
The highest governing body. A circle of ancient shamans seated upon living Rhododendron Thrones—massive flowering root masses intertwined with neural fungal networks.

The shamans continually ingest psychoactive fungi to maintain communion with the Cathedral Groves either directly or through semi-sentient oracle insects. When neither is available shamans rely on “ancestral root echoes.” Which have never been traced, recorded, or observed.

Whether these visions are genuine prophecy or chemically induced madness remains uncertain.

The Bijol do not care.

Religion: The Cathedral Groves
The Hyper-Sentient Trees

The Cathedral Groves are continent-sized organisms with distributed neural root systems, bioelectrical cognition, and possible extrasensory capabilities.

Some xenobiologists believe the Groves are not plants at all, but ancient planetary-scale neural colonies. More still that both the Groves and the dwarven plight of extra-dimensional kudzu were Yrrani experiments gone awry. Perhaps once designed to quickly terraform habitable flora into colonizing worlds, now the flora habits the world itself. Others suspect something worse: that the Groves are invasive extra-dimensional organisms slowly terraforming the galaxy into a single connected biological intelligence. A best that was only once contained by Yrrani gardening efforts.

The Bijol reject all such distinctions. To them, the Groves are gods.

Sacred Creatures: The Oracle Swarms

The Bijol cultivate semi-sentient insects:
- Whisper Moths
- Choir Beetles
- Veil Wasps

These insects respond to pheromonal patterns emitted by the Cathedral Groves. Shamans interpret their movements as divine guidance. Entire military campaigns have been launched because moths clustered around a certain rune, beetles arranged corpses into geometric spirals, or a wasp queen screamed during ritual silence.

The Strijk Fields

The Bijol economy revolves around harvesting Strijk.

A sulfurous electromagnetic sap-like substance found deep beneath irradiated fungal worlds. Strijk is highly unstable, toxic, mutagenic and impossible to automate due to violent electromagnetic interference. Mining the substance is suicidal, or coerced.
When fed to Cathedral Groves, the byproduct of this process produces Verdant Coolant
A miraculous reactor coolant used throughout known space. The coolant’s efficiency makes it the leading stabilizer to civilian reactors, ship drives, and many lovely air conditioning systems.

The Bijol therefore wield enormous economic leverage despite widespread hatred from neighboring powers.


The Refugees


The enslaved dwarves—called The Hollowed Clans by the Bijol, Svarts by the rest of the galaxy, originally fled worlds consumed by The Desperation.

The Desperation, Pueraria Desporata, native to the Oogmanik system, ravished the holdings of the Svarts. They appearing as a simple leafed vine of violet hue. The scourging vine grows rapidly without the observed need for light, water, or soil. It is capable of growing in space, leading to the destruction and abandonment of many Svart vessels and satellites. Unless destroyed at the atomic level was horrifyingly capable of self-propagating. The energy vine devoured infrastructure, power grids, atmosphere processors, and eventually planetary crusts... Colloquially termed plasma-Kudzu.

In the wake of their homeworld's collapse, the dwarves were initially sheltered by an empire of ruthless orca-like merfolk, the Pelagor. At the time it seemed like the most logically and mutually beneficial alliance in the galaxy. Until the Bijol consumed them both.


The Pelagor exploited dwarf labor but housed them, fed them, and integrated them into industrial society.
Then the Bijol arrived.

Facing ecological annihilation, the Pelagor surrendered their surface territories and offered the dwarves as labor tribute in exchange for underwater autonomy.

The deal succeeded.

For now.


Dwarves now serve as expendable laborers in Strijk mines, fungal coolant refineries, hazardous reactor vaults, and root excavation tunnels.

Mortality rates are catastrophic.

Yet dwarves remain preferable workers because automation fails near Strijk, Bijol workers are physically clumsy with precision extraction, and dwarf engineering instincts remain “invaluable” to a conquering species too stupid to have invented tieable shoe-laces.

Many, the dwarves particularly, suspect the Plasma-Kudzu outbreak was engineered. More still that both they and the Cathedral Groves were Yrrani experiments gone awry. Perhaps once designed to quickly terraform habitable flora into colonizing worlds, now the flora habits the world itself.

Some believe the Cathedral Groves intentionally displaced the dwarves to create a permanent labor underclass.

No evidence exists.

No investigation is permitted.

And don't ask them how to spell investigation either.

Bioriod-Assisted Presidential Republic
The government of the Ghost Nebula Republic is made up of democratically elected leaders and legislators who are assisted by bioroid assistants and bureaucrats. The legislature is made up of two bodies, the Assembly of Planets (2 assemblymen are elected per planet) and Parliament (proportional representation). The President can issue an Emergency Executive Order that takes immediate effect, bypassing both Assembly and Parliament, but automatically expires after 30 days, unless it is ratified by a two-thirds vote in a session of either the Assembly or Parliament. While historically the office of the President has been seen as the dominant power in the government; the creation of the Grand Council by the Assembly has resulted in a war of influence over control of the government.

The Grand Council is a body of six assemblymen who can issue Executive Mandates on behalf of the entire Assembly. These executive mandates are then later reviewed by the entire Assembly which votes on whether to retroactively ratify or reject the mandate. This allows the Grand Council to act swiftly when necessary, but ensures the full Assembly retains ultimate oversight. The six seats of the council rotate between each planet, with two seats being rotated out every two years.

The Apex Court of Precedent (often just called the Apex Court) is the supreme judicial body in the Republic. It has nine justices, three appointed by the President, three appointed by the Grand Council, and three appointed by Parliament.


The major species of the Ghost Nebula Republic are the Yrrani-Twei, Yrrani, and Humans, with the Twei making up roughly 80% of the total population. Bioroids are not considered part of the population.



The Republic Joint Armed Forces (RJAF), initially formed by the Ghost Nebula Provincial Defense Legion, are the military services responsible for the defense of the Ghost Nebula Republic. The military is broken up into two competing branches: the Republican Navy (RN) and the Republican Ground Forces (RGF). The personnel of both branches are made up primarily of bioroids, with biological personnel still serving as officers and, to a lesser degree, non-commissioned officers.

The Republican Navy is a battle-hardened and highly loyal force that is often referred to as the Sword of the Republic. As a general rule of thumb Republic Navy warships are very durable and very effective brawlers. Most Republic Navy warships possess a spinal particle beam cannon that served as its primary killing weapon. RN warships tend to have fewer main weapons batteries than other navies, instead opting for more and better secondary batteries that serve as hybrid anti-ship/strikecraft defenses. As a general rule of thumb Republic Navy warships tend to lack very long range weaponry, relying on a few missile launchers per ship and fighter craft to cover combat ranges outside the reach of their particle beam cannons.

On the subject of fighter craft: every Republic Navy ship carries at least a few fighters and shuttles, although the bulk of fighter operations are still centralized on specialized carriers. RN doctrine calls for 3 destroyers and 1 cruiser to screen every capital ship, with each destroyer carrying one strikecraft, each cruiser carrying 2-3, and each capital ship carrying 3+, allowing each capital ship and its screens to deploy a fighter squadron.

Ship-based missiles used by the RN are usually more than just a means to transport an explosive to a distant target; they are more of a utility weapon. Common examples of RN missiles include: missiles designed to fire a targeted particle beam when it nears with an enemy (blaster missiles), missiles that explode into a “shotgun” of shrapnel designed to defeat enemy stealth systems and shred lightly armed targets (shredder missiles), high mobility missiles designed to linger near and follow friendly ships before peeling off to intercept incoming hostiles (stinger missiles), specialized electronic warfare missiles designed to disrupt enemy sensors or create decoys (jammer/foxer missiles).

The Republican Navy does not have a specialized marine corps, but it does possess naval infantry. Republican naval infantry are specialized in defending warships and space stations. Their training emphasizes close quarters combat and damage control in zero-g, resulting in them being less capable in large-scale open-field combat. There are some naval infantry special forces groups that specialize in orbital drops, orbital assaults, and boarding actions.

The RGF’s strength lies in its technology, information superiority, and the devastating application of concentrated mobile firepower. A robust core of infantry, supported by heavy infantry (powered armor), holds the line of battle as light and medium mechs form an armored fist that smashes the Republic’s enemies. All the while heavy artillery barrages and airstrikes disrupt and destroy the enemy.

The Republic Ground Forces employ a Hi-Lo mix of units; pairing a small number of extremely capable, but expensive, units with cheaper, less advanced, units in order to maximize the army’s size and give the RGF a wider range of capabilities. Often the Hi units in the mix represent units from the High Republic Era that are either too expensive to be widely produced/maintained or simply can no longer be created at all.

The RGF doesn’t often field typical armor, the kind that use wheels or tracks, except for a few specific use cases such as infantry fighting vehicles or self propelled artillery. Instead the RGF prefers to field mechs as mechs because 1) they perform better on very rough terrain such as urban battlefields, 2) mechs are better capable of handling threats in extreme proximity (such as a swimmer wrapping its tentacles around a vehicle), and 3) due to the nature of bioroids they perform better as something with arms and legs than wheels or tracks.






The Ghost Nebula Republic was very advanced when it came to AI, robotics, cybernetics, and energy storage. The invention of room-temperature nonpressurized superconductors and bioroids were some of the Ghost Nebula Republic’s greatest technological advancements.

Superconductors: The creation of room-temperature nonpressurized superconductors had contributed greatly to the Republic. These superconductors were used in digital circuits, magnetic levitation devices, robotics, energy storage devices, particle beam weaponry, and electric motors to name a few.

Bioroids: Bioroids, or more properly named biomimetic AI, are highly advanced AI that saw widespread use throughout the Ghost Nebula Republic. Bioroids are distinct from traditional AI (called nominal AI in the Republic) in that they are an artificial brain based on biological brain mapping (bioroid brain is the term used to talk about the actual artificial brain hardware). Bioroids are broken up into four classes based on the size and general capabilities of their bioroid brains. Class A bioroids possess very large bioroid brains, often about the size of a car, and have a lot of processing power. They often have numerous “built in” supportive nominal AIs that help them perform numerous tasks at once. These levels of AI are often used to control spacecraft and stations. Class B bioroid brains are the same size as a human brain. Intellectually they are the same as a cybernetically enhanced human. Class C bioroids are considered to be a sub-human intellect bioroid. They aren’t exactly unintelligent, only super focused on one specialty, thus comparably inflexible. Class D bioroids utilize very small bioroid brains and are considered to be animalistic in intellect; people often compare them to canines or birds of prey. They are often used in robots that don’t require high levels of intellect or where the use of a man-machine link is likely to be employed.

At the height of development, Bioroid developers had gotten very good at creating and altering bioroid personalities; they could give a bioroid any kind of personality they desire. In practice this was often used to make a bioroid enjoy whatever task they are likely to be given, turning what might be argued a state of slavery into a blissful existence.

Bioroid developers had also gotten very good at making humanoid, or animal based, bioroids as indistinguishable from the living beings they were based off of as possible. Synthskin and artificial muscle could make a bioroid feel perfectly human; in fact some are advanced enough that without performing a specialized scan or invasive search, it would be impossible to tell that a bioroid is not a human.

Cybernetics: Cybernetics were a fairly advanced and common technology in the Ghost Nebula Republic. Most citizens had nanomachine grown brain circuitry that acted as an internal computer. This brain circuitry could be connected to via a terminal that was usually located on the index finger. Cybernetics were also used to delay the effects of aging by a decade or so.

Robotics: Robotics was a very developed field of science in the Republic. Android bodies could be built that are nearly impossible to distinguish from a biological body without specialized scans or an invasive search.

Man-Machine Link: Man-Machine Links, shortened to MML, use a humanoid’s cybernetics to directly connect his/her brain to a bioroid through the use of specially designed ports usually installed at the base of the human’s skull. MMLs allow a bioroid to effectively read a human’s mind, thus enabling it to act on the human’s will before they have even given their intentions coherent thought. An example of this link in action would be a fighter pilot determining that he wants to attack a target and the bioroid performing the act of aiming and firing weapons. In other words it allows for superhuman reactions at human direction.

Adaptive Camouflage: In short adaptive camouflage changes patterns and color schemes to match the surrounding environment. This is not to be confused with active camouflage or cloaking and instead is more of a “pallet/pattern” swap. For example a soldier’s uniform would have a woodland pattern when in the forest and if he walked into a city the uniform’s camouflage would change to an urban design and color set. At first adaptive camouflage was limited to armored vehicles, but advancements in the technology and general reduction in price has expanded it to clothing as well.

Foxers: Foxers are advanced decoys that can spoof sensors, as well as create holographic projections, in order to draw enemy fire. While very convincing, they are expensive, limiting how much can be used in combat. They are also very fragile, often breaking down after taking any direct hits, or even near misses depending on the weapon.


Pre-Republic Era (1800+ years ago)
Historically the Ghost Nebula had always been a somewhat isolated region. Intelligent life was slow to evolve in the region and a mixture of gasses and heavy asteroid presence made navigation and exploration more difficult than other regions of the galaxy. What intelligent life did evolve in the region was all but exterminated when the Yrrani expanded into the Ghost Region.

Development of the Ghost Nebula was never much of a priority for the Yrrani Empire. The aforementioned lack of natural resources and difficulty in exploring made it useful for little more than military outposts. The Twei Expulsion changed everything.

The Twei were a Yrrani ethnic minority, notable for being physically distinct from Yrrani due to their long ears, who were more democratically leaning then their Yrrani cousins. Relations between the two ethnicities had never been warm, but what had previously been a lack of warmth turned to downright freezing after a number of large-scale Twei protests over the mistreatment of non-Yrrani species. The Empire cracked down on the Twei, prompting a brief, but bloody, insurrection. This insurrection ended when the Yrrani gave their Twei cousins an ultimatum. Leave or die. Some of the Twei remained to continue their fight against the Empire, but once Imperial troops began executing women and children, the fight left the Twei populace, which fled their homes by the billians.

The Ghost Nebula proved to be the Twei’s only safe haven. It remained an undeveloped, nearly resourceless, region, but it was now home to the Twei. The Twei proved to be an industrious people, quickly building cities to house their population as they explored the largely unexplored Ghost Nebula. Once these explorers began finding resource rich asteroids and planetoids, Twei society experienced an economic boom. By 1800 years ago, some of their largest cities had begun to rival those of the Yrrani Imperium’s greatest cities, if not in size then in wealth. And it wasn’t just Twei that lived in the Ghost Nebula by this point, humans, numerous other species, and even some Yrrani had come to call the Ghost Nebula home.

Had nothing changed, perhaps the Ghost Nebula might have developed into a true rival to the Yrrani Imperium’s core worlds. Or perhaps the Ghost Nebula might have led a revolt against Pax Yrrani. Either way, the Yrrani had other plans. One day without warning the Yrrani Imperium deployed the Astral Sword against the Ghost Nebula. This superweapon literally tore holes in space around the Ghost Nebula, isolating it from the rest of the galaxy. These tears in space would take over fifteen hundred years to close and until they did so the Ghost Nebula was truly isolated from the rest of the galaxy. Travel into and out of the Ghost Nebula was impossible and this proved to be the case for all forms of information as well.

Early Republic Era (1,000 - 1,800 years ago)
At first the people of the Ghost Nebula panicked, but this quickly bled away and was replaced with relief and excitement. For the first time the Yrrani-Twei didn’t have to live under the boot of the Yrrani. Within short order the Ghost Nebula Republic was formed, where all were equal regardless of species. The old Ghost Nebula Provincial Defense Legion formed the core of the Republic’s Armed Forces, the founders of the Republic were forward thinking enough to realize that there was always the risk of rebellions or the Yrrani Imperium somehow finding its way back into the Ghost Nebula.

The next one hundred years was a golden age for the Ghost Nebula Republic. Technological advancement, economic development, social and cultural revolutions all were center stage during these hundred years. But like all golden ages, the Republic’s ended. There was virtually no warning before the Swimmers emerged from the depths of the Ghost Nebula’s unexplored regions.

At first the Swimmers weren’t seen as a true threat. They would raid the occasional planet, eating citizens before the planetary defenses could repel them. They were dangerous, but rare. But soon the situation began to get out of hand. Swimmer raids increased in number and severity. Within fifty years of their first sighting the Swimmers completely destroyed a Republic colony. Within eighty years of their first sighting five planets had fallen to the Swimmers. And still the Republic knew little about their enigmatic foes.

By this point the Republic had begun fielding large numbers of AI controlled weapons in their battle against the Swimmers. And soon this became an achilles heel for the Republic. A Yrrani Colonel in the ground forces gathered the support of fellow officers and was able to gain control of the Republic’s autonomous AI weapons. He then began a military coup. His coup would have succeeded, except for the one crucial thing. Bioroids had been in development for the decade leading up to this point. They were seen as more advanced AI that would serve the Republic not because they were told to, but because they wanted to. Bioroid soldiers and warships had just begun to enter service before the coup was attempted. And these new bioroids proved to be what saved the Republic from falling to a Yrrani tyrant.

High Republic Era (1,000 - 300 years ago)
The creation of bioroids heralded a golden age for the Republic. The economy grew at an exponential rate never seen in the Republic’s history, despite the worsening war with the Swimmers. And the new bioroid soldiers and warships not only stabilized the warfront, but even allowed the Republic to begin pushing back the Swimmers.This in turn gave the Republic the breathing room it needed to commit resources to further scientific advancement.

These scientific advancements allowed for further victories to be made against the Swimmers. Victory was still a distant prospect, but an end was in sight. War fighting, as well as most industrial jobs, were increasingly handed over to the bioroids. With the threat of the Swimmers seemingly contained, the Yrrani Imperium a distant memory, and an ever decreasing need to work, the citizens of the Republic became ever more hedonistic.

The Swimmers, for their part, were never passive. Soon different kinds of Swimmers appeared on the battlefield. Some were more clever. Some had developed defenses against the Republic’s weapons. And some had grown to sizes that dwarfed even the largest of warships. And these changes all came at a time when the society of those living in the Ghost Nebula were least equipped to deal with a new threat. The Swimmers launched what could only be described as a large-scale coordinated assault over several star systems. Caught off guard, the Republic’s military took heavy losses and the Swimmers managed to push the Republic off of several important worlds.

Late Republic Era ( 300 years ago - Current)
The Swimmers renewed assault ended the Republic’s golden age. Some of the world’s lost were important manufacturing facilities that built the very means by which the Republic had pushed the Swimmers back in the first place. Many of these manufacturing facilities proved difficult or even impossible to build in new locations. This represented not only a loss in production capabilities, but also in technology too. The military suffered further losses as it desperately attempted to slow down the Swimmer assault.

The Triune Solaris Alliance is best described as a federal defensive alliance with confederated parliamentary, council-based, and treaty-bound structures.

It is not a monarchy, dictatorship, or centralized empire. No single species rules the others, and no divine ruler commands the Alliance by birthright. Instead, the Alliance is governed through interlocking institutions designed to balance military necessity with member sovereignty.



The Solaris Concord is the highest legislative and diplomatic body of the Alliance. It is a grand council made up of representatives from full member civilizations, major colony blocs, protectorate systems, associate worlds, and recognized autonomous territories.

The Solaris Concord controls alliance-wide law, defence treaties, shared military budgets, sanctions, admission of new members, interstellar trade agreements, and declarations of war.

Its purpose is to ensure that the Alliance acts through consent rather than domination.



The Triune High Council is the senior executive council of the Alliance. It originally contained one high representative from each founding species: Zikeran, Midgarian, and Krentasian. After the Azani joined, the council expanded, but it kept the name “Triune” to honour the original founding pact.

The High Council handles emergency powers, crisis response, wartime coordination, high diplomacy, and major strategic decisions.

Some reformers argue it should now be called the Solaris High Council, but traditionalists believe the old name is sacred because it remembers the three peoples who first stood together after the Yrrani collapse.



The Assembly of Worlds is the broader representative chamber. It includes elected delegates, planetary representatives, colonial governors, military observers, legal scholars, religious advisors, civilian advocates, and minority community voices.

The Assembly prevents the Alliance from becoming purely military. It debates civil rights, migration, reconstruction, colony protections, environmental law, technological oversight, hybrid rights, artificial intelligence policy, and the limits of military intervention.



The Tribunal of Memory is one of the most feared legal bodies in Alliance space. It investigates and prosecutes crimes connected to slavery, trafficking, forced uplift, illegal biological engineering, psionic exploitation, cultural extermination, Yrrani loyalist activity, and species-level abuse.

Its authority comes from the founding charter of the Alliance.

The Tribunal exists because the Alliance believes memory must have legal force. The suffering of the Yrrani age is not simply remembered; it is used as the foundation for law.

The Midgarians are a humanoid, simultaneous-hermaphrodite species native to the high-gravity world of Arinar. To most humanoid observers, Midgarians appear distinctly elegant and feminine in presentation, with slender yet resilient bodies, refined facial features, smooth leathery skin, glowing eyes, and long hair often worn in elaborate or practical styles. Despite their graceful appearance, they are physically adapted to a harsh planetary environment and possess considerable strength and endurance when operating under lower-gravity conditions.

Midgarian civilization is best known for its emphasis on knowledge, diplomacy, beauty, honour, craftsmanship, and disciplined military readiness. Once primarily academic and culturally refined, Midgarian society was permanently reshaped after a period of enslavement by a more advanced species. Since regaining their freedom, their civilization has maintained a deep “never again” mentality, combining diplomacy with a fiercely guarded border policy and a powerful defensive military tradition.

Physical Demographics.

Midgarians are generally similar in size to humans, standing between 5’6” and 5’10” on average and weighing roughly 158 to 170 lbs. Their apparent build is usually slim, graceful, and feminine by the standards of many humanoid species, though this can be misleading. Beneath their smooth exterior, Midgarians possess dense musculature, a reinforced endoskeleton, and high-gravity conditioning inherited from Arinar.

Their skin is usually pale purple, blue, grey, lavender, or muted violet, with a smooth leathery texture. Some individuals display darker markings, subtle scale-like surface patterns, or natural pigmentation around the face, temples, neck, shoulders, or spine. These markings are often treated as attractive and culturally meaningful, sometimes associated with family ancestry, regional origin, or spiritual symbolism.

Their eyes are one of their most distinctive features. Midgarians have two luminescent eyes with glowing irises, eyelids, tear ducts, and vision broadly comparable to humans in normal daylight. In dim conditions, they can see better than most humans, though they are not true night-vision organisms and cannot see in total darkness. Their pupils do not dilate in the same way human pupils do, which allows stable light intake but causes slower focusing on distant objects.

Most Midgarians have human-like lips and teeth, five fingers on each hand including one thumb, and five toes on each foot. They also possess a smooth, scaled prehensile tail normally concealed within the lower back and pelvic structure. This tail is rarely displayed in public and is considered deeply private. Outside reproductive contexts, some Midgarians may use it for balance, climbing, or fine manipulation in controlled environments, though cultural modesty often discourages casual use.

Lifespan and Age Structure.

Midgarians are a long-lived species, with an average lifespan of approximately 300 years under healthy conditions. Their aging process is slower than humans after reaching maturity, allowing individuals to spend decades or even centuries developing expertise in scholarship, diplomacy, art, engineering, or military service.

Midgarians generally reach full maturity around 22 years old. Because their lives are so long, they tend to take a slower and more deliberate approach to education, relationships, career choice, and social responsibility than shorter-lived species.

Biological Adaptation to Arinar.

Arinar is a high-gravity world, significantly stronger in gravitational pull than many habitable planets. This has shaped Midgarian physiology profoundly. On their homeworld, a Midgarian’s strength is comparable to that of an average human living under normal human gravity. However, when living on Earth-like worlds or standard artificial-gravity stations, Midgarians often appear much stronger, faster, and more resilient than humans.

This is not considered “super-strength” by Midgarian standards. It is simply the result of a body evolved for a heavier world operating in a lighter environment.

However, prolonged exposure to low gravity can be dangerous. Midgarians who spend too long on Earth-like worlds, space stations, or ships without high-gravity conditioning may develop gravity sickness. This condition causes loss of bone density, weakening of muscle tissue, balance disruption, fatigue, and eventually permanent physical degradation if untreated. Because of this, Midgarian ships, embassies, and colonies usually include high-gravity training rooms, medical gravity chambers, or living quarters calibrated to Arinar-like conditions.

Internal Biology.

Midgarians possess an endoskeletal structure similar in broad function to humans, though denser and more resistant to stress. Their cardiovascular system supports high-pressure circulation, helping them function under Arinar’s intense gravity. Their blood is a bluish-purple colour, caused by cobalt-based oxygen-binding compounds rather than the iron-based haemoglobin common in humans.

Their endocrine system is unusually complex. Although they have fewer endocrine glands than humans, each gland produces a wider variety of hormones and chemical regulators. One of the most notable is Relaxitin, a calming hormone released during extreme stress. Relaxitin interacts with areas of the brain responsible for fear, panic, and emotional overload, reducing stress responses and encouraging dopamine release. In humans, the effect has sometimes been compared to the calming and euphoric effect associated with THC, though Midgarian biology processes it naturally and with far greater control.

This hormone is one reason Midgarians are often stereotyped as calm under pressure, graceful in diplomacy, and composed in combat. However, Relaxitin does not remove fear or pain. It simply allows them to remain functional during crisis situations.

Midgarians also possess a specialized desalination gland located near the mouth. This organ allows them to safely drink both freshwater and saltwater. When saltwater is consumed, the gland breaks down and filters excess salt, which is then transported through the bloodstream and excreted through the skin in a process similar to sweating. This adaptation likely evolved from Arinar’s mineral-rich oceans, brackish inland seas, and harsh coastal environments.

Although they have a robust cellular maintenance system and strong resistance to environmental stress, Midgarians do not heal dramatically faster than humans. Their bodies are durable, but not naturally regenerative in a superhuman sense.

Reproductive Demographics.

Midgarians are a simultaneous hermaphrodite species, meaning every individual possesses both reproductive systems. As a result, their society does not divide itself into male and female biological classes. Gender-based social roles, sexism, and inherited gender expectations are largely absent from traditional Midgarian culture.

Although each individual has both reproductive systems, Midgarians cannot normally self-fertilize. Their biology includes strong protective mechanisms against self-reproduction, preserving genetic diversity and preventing harmful genetic collapse. Reproduction usually requires a compatible partner.

Midgarians may reproduce with their own kind or, in some circumstances, with compatible alien species. When interspecies reproduction occurs, the child is always born biologically Midgarian, though they may inherit minor traits from the non-Midgarian parent. These inherited traits can include subtle differences in pigmentation, facial structure, hair texture, eye glow intensity, metabolic tolerance, or temperament.

Because of this, Midgarian society has a long tradition of careful genealogical record-keeping. Family lines are not built around gendered parenthood, but around household lineage, shared ancestry, mentorship, and contribution to the family’s honour.

Family and Household Structure.

Midgarian families are usually organised around houses, lineages, or kin circles rather than nuclear family structures. A child may be raised by two parents, several bonded adults, extended relatives, teachers, and household elders. Parenthood is considered sacred due to the worship of Rihun, the Mother Goddess and High Lady of the Divine Pantheon.

Since all adults are biologically capable of bearing or contributing to offspring, parenthood is viewed less as a gendered role and more as a social and spiritual duty. A Midgarian parent is expected to provide education, emotional stability, moral instruction, and protection.

Children are highly valued. Their early education often includes philosophy, history, emotional discipline, language, physical conditioning, and religious stories. It is common for young Midgarians to be taught that beauty without wisdom is vanity, strength without honour is savagery, and knowledge without compassion is dangerous.

Population Distribution

The majority of Midgarians still live on Arinar, especially in large fortified city-states, coastal academic centres, mountain citadels, and orbital habitats designed to replicate homeworld gravity. However, their population has spread beyond Arinar through diplomatic missions, research stations, military outposts, trade enclaves, and carefully controlled colonies.

Midgarian communities outside their homeworld are usually smaller than human colonies because of their need for high-gravity infrastructure. Midgarians rarely settle casually on foreign worlds unless proper gravity systems and medical support are available. Wealthier Midgarian households often maintain private gravity chambers when living abroad.

Society and Career Demographics.
Before their enslavement, Midgarian civilization was strongly academic. Scholars, philosophers, artists, engineers, healers, and diplomats were among the most respected professions. Military service existed, but it was not the dominant aspiration for most citizens, except among certain old families with long martial traditions.

After liberation, this changed dramatically. The military became one of the most honoured institutions in Midgarian society. Not because the species became warlike, but because defence became inseparable from survival. The phrase often associated with modern Midgarian culture is:

“Never again shall Arinar kneel.”

Education remains central to their identity. Even military officers are expected to be literate in history, ethics, diplomacy, and strategy. A Midgarian warrior who cannot reason is considered dangerous; a scholar who cannot defend the truth is considered incomplete.

Law, Crime, and Border Policy.

Midgarian law became far stricter after their enslavement. Crimes involving slavery, trafficking, raiding, illegal mercenary activity, kidnapping, piracy, or biological exploitation are punished with extreme severity. Foreign criminals captured in Midgarian space may face lifelong imprisonment, forced exile, or execution depending on the crime.

This has given Midgarian territory a fearsome reputation among slavers, raiders, and criminal syndicates. Their patrol fleets are known to issue only one warning. After that, Midgarian forces act decisively.

However, Midgarians are not openly hostile to outsiders. Diplomacy remains a core part of their identity. Peaceful traders, scholars, refugees, and ambassadors are usually treated with dignity, provided they respect Midgarian law. Their society believes that learning from other cultures is necessary for growth, but never at the cost of security.

Cultural Values.

Midgarian culture places great emphasis on the balance between grace and strength. They value elegance, but not weakness; diplomacy, but not submission; beauty, but not vanity; honour, but not blind pride. Public behaviour is often formal. Midgarians tend to speak carefully, dress with intention, and show respect through posture, tone, and greetings. Even among soldiers, there is a strong sense of ceremonial discipline.

Religion and Pantheon.

Midgarian religion is centred around a small pantheon of goddesses. Their faith is not separate from daily life; it influences education, family, law, warfare, craftsmanship, and rites of passage.

Rihun — Mother Goddess and High Lady

Rihun is the Mother Goddess and High Lady of the Divine Pantheon. She is Queen of the Gods and rules with a firm but just hand. She is the matron of parenthood, family, protection, and rightful authority.

Parents often pray to Rihun at the birth of a child, during adoption ceremonies, and before major family decisions. Leaders also invoke her name when making judgments that affect the future of the people.

Rihann — Goddess of Fire and the Forge

Rihann is the goddess of fire, metalworking, craftsmanship, invention, and the forge. She is revered by smiths, engineers, shipwrights, weapon designers, and artists. Many Midgarian workshops keep a small flame or glowing forge-symbol in her honour.

To create something useful, beautiful, and enduring is considered an act of devotion to Rihann.

Kriash — Goddess of War

Kriash is the goddess of war and patron goddess of the Midgarian military. She does not represent violence for its own sake, but disciplined force used in defence of home, honour, and the innocent.

Midgarian soldiers often dedicate their service to Kriash. Before battle, they may swear that their weapons will not be used for cruelty, conquest, or dishonour.

Lias — Lady of Water

Lias is the goddess of water, life, children, and renewal. She is the wife of Rihann and sister of Kriash. She is especially loved by families, healers, and coastal communities.

A common Midgarian belief says that when a child has an imaginary friend, it may be Lias appearing in child form to watch over them.

Brial — Lady of Air

Brial is the goddess of air, wisdom, thought, and scholarship. She is the matron of scholars, teachers, libraries, academies, and philosophers. She is the wife of Kriash.

Brial’s teachings are often associated with patience, clarity, strategy, and the responsibility that comes with knowledge.

Her daughter is believed to guard the Great Thereafter, the Midgarian afterlife. According to tradition, a soul may only enter by proving its honour.

Krentasians — Species Demographics and Profile.

The Krentasians are an upright, bipedal, felinoid-descended humanoid species known for their graceful movement, acute senses, territorial instincts, and refined cultural appreciation for beauty, space, and personal discipline. To many other humanoid races, Krentasians appear elegant, composed, and faintly intimidating, combining the poise of a highly civilized people with the physical traits of an ambush predator.

Their homeworld’s warm, stable climate shaped much of their biology and society. Krentasians evolved in an environment with mild seasonal variation, abundant open terrain, and dense ecological regions where stealth, balance, and sudden acceleration were more valuable than endurance. This origin is still visible in their physiology, architecture, military doctrine, and social customs.

General Appearance.

Krentasians are immediately recognizable by their feline features. They possess fur-covered bodies, elongated mobile ears, forward-facing eyes, digitigrade-influenced leg structure, agile hands, and long expressive tails. While humanoid in stance and general body layout, their facial structure, sensory organs, and movement patterns clearly reveal their felinoid ancestry.

Their bodies are usually lean rather than bulky. Even larger Krentasians tend to look slender by humanoid standards, though this can be deceptive. Their musculature is dense, efficient, and built for explosive movement. A Krentasian may appear relaxed and almost still one moment, then cross several metres in a sudden burst of motion the next.

Most Krentasians have fur in solid colours or closely related shades. Common colouration includes sandy gold, warm tan, grey, silver-grey, tawny brown, and darker charcoal tones. Black fur is uncommon but not rare, while pure white fur is considered rare and often culturally striking.

Eye colour is usually linked to fur pigmentation. Golden eyes are the most common and are considered the traditional Krentasian norm. Black-furred individuals often have green eyes, while white-furred individuals frequently possess pale blue or almost translucent blue eyes. These rare colour combinations often carry social or aesthetic significance, though modern Krentasian society generally avoids attaching superstition to them.

Sexual Dimorphism.

Krentasians have two sexes: Krentan males and Krentas females. The physical differences between the two are noticeable but not extreme.

Krentan males are usually slightly taller and broader, with somewhat heavier bone structure, stronger shoulders, and thicker tails. Their facial features may be sharper or more angular, and their voices often carry a deeper purring resonance.

Krentas females are generally a little lighter and more flexible, with slightly finer facial structure and marginally greater agility on average. Their tails are often slimmer and more expressive, though this varies between individuals and family lines.

Despite these differences, both sexes are physically capable, socially equal, and historically involved in every major profession, including governance, science, military service, exploration, engineering, and the arts. Krentasian society has maintained broad sex equality for so long that many Krentasians view rigid gender hierarchy among other species as strange or primitive.

Fur, Grooming, and Shedding.

Krentasians shed lightly throughout the year rather than undergoing major seasonal moulting. Their original world’s stable orbit produced a near-constant climate, so they never evolved the heavy winter coats seen in some furred species.

Their fur is an important part of both biology and social presentation. It provides minor protection against sunlight, dust, and surface abrasion, while also assisting in thermal regulation in warm environments. Because their fur can trap heat, Krentasians often struggle in cold or wet climates, especially if their fur becomes soaked.

Cleanliness is deeply important to them. Grooming is both a personal habit and a social expectation. A Krentasian with unkempt fur may be assumed to be ill, grieving, exhausted, dishonoured, or under severe stress. Personal grooming tools, scented oils, heated washrooms, and fur-care stations are common in Krentasian homes, starships, and military vessels.

A notable involuntary response is full-body bristling. When startled, threatened, angered, or emotionally overwhelmed, a Krentasian’s fur can rise across much of the body. This reaction is difficult to suppress and is often one of the few clear emotional tells in an otherwise reserved species. Among Krentasians, visible bristling in public can be embarrassing, especially during diplomatic or formal settings.

Eyes and Vision.

Their physiology is close enough to human norms that they can consume many human-compatible foods, though Azani cuisine tends to include more mineral-rich plants, ocean-grown proteins, and fermented fruit-based dishes.

They have efficient cardiovascular and respiratory systems, likely influenced by Azani Prime’s diverse terrain. Many Azani cultures evolved in elevated cities, coastal regions, and mountainous valleys, which contributed to their natural stamina and athletic ability.

Azani are especially known for:

High physical coordination: They tend to have excellent balance, agility, and reflex control.

Endurance: Their bodies recover well from sustained physical activity.

Fine motor precision: Azani are often skilled in dance, martial sports, piloting, surgery, engineering, and art.

Emotional pigmentation: Skin tone subtly reacts to blood-flow changes, making emotional states more visible than in humans.

Strong aesthetic sensitivity: Their visual perception favours colour contrast and symmetry, which deeply influences their architecture, fashion, and art.

Azani life expectancy averages around 90 to 110 standard years, though advanced Yrrani-era medical improvements extended the lives of upper-class and urban Azani populations before those technologies were later democratized.

Reproduction and Hybrids

As a near-human species, Azani are capable of reproducing with humans and producing viable human-Azani hybrid offspring. These hybrids usually inherit partial blue pigmentation, violet or darkened eye tones, and some degree of Azani emotional colour-shifting.

Hybrid children are somewhat rare in early Azani history due to limited alien contact, but after joining the Triune Solaris Empire, human-Azani and multi-species family lines became more common in cosmopolitan worlds and naval communities.

Azani society generally accepts hybrid offspring, though older traditionalist families sometimes worry that interspecies unions could dilute Azani cultural identity. Modern imperial Azani law protects hybrid citizens fully, and many prominent diplomats, officers, artists, and athletes are of mixed heritage.

Homeworld: Azani Prime

Azani Prime is an Earth-like world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, stable hydrosphere, large oceans, varied continents, and wide climate diversity. Its most famous feature is its planetary ring system, commonly known as the Rings of Azani. These rings are visible from the surface as luminous arcs across the sky, inspiring Azani religion, navigation, poetry, architecture, and astronomy.

Azani Prime has one moon, Galea, which plays an important role in tidal cycles and traditional calendars. Galea is often associated with reflection, memory, and guardianship in Azani culture.

The planet’s natural environments are carefully protected. The Azani developed a strong ecological philosophy long before becoming spacefaring. Rather than endlessly expanding cities across the landscape, they built upward, downward, and along controlled transit corridors. Their major cities are clean, bright, and carefully integrated into the environment.

The Azani are especially proud of their ability to maintain large urban populations without destroying the beauty of their world.

The Azani System

The Azani home system is a binary star system containing twelve major worlds, four of which are inhabited by the Azani. These colonies vary in purpose and identity.

Azani Prime
The capital world, cultural heartland, and seat of the Azani Assembly.

Galea Station and Lunar Settlements
Located around or upon Azani Prime’s moon. These settlements serve as observatories, shipyards, research stations, and spiritual retreat sites.

Second Inhabited World
Often used as an industrial and naval logistics world, carefully managed to avoid the pollution mistakes common to younger civilizations.

Third Inhabited World
A scientific colony, containing universities, ecological preserves, and psionic research facilities.

Fourth Inhabited World
A frontier-style colony that became heavily militarized after the Great Fall due to pirate incursions and border raids.

The system became one of the most beautiful and strategically valuable regions later brought into the Triune Solaris Empire.

Cities and Environment

Azani cities are known for clean white and blue architecture, sweeping towers, skybridges, open gardens, water channels, and quiet public transit systems. Their urban planning avoids excessive noise, air pollution, and light pollution.The Azani believe that a city should not conquer nature, but harmonize with it. Their most prestigious cities are often judged not by size, but by how little damage they inflict on the world around them.

Certain natural phenomena on Azani Prime are completely protected. Vast stone arches, floating mountain regions, ancient forests, ringfall impact fields, crystal valleys, and electromagnetic storm basins are preserved as planetary heritage sites. Some are also believed to amplify psionic sensitivity.

Culture

Azani culture is elegant, civic-minded, and deeply tied to beauty, discipline, and public responsibility. They admire physical excellence, artistic expression, restraint, emotional honesty, and service to the community.

Because their emotions can be partially visible through skin tone changes, Azani society places great value on composure. This does not mean they are cold; rather, they are taught from a young age to understand and regulate their emotional responses.

Public life is shaped by courtesy and presentation. Clothing, posture, tone of voice, and body language all carry social meaning. Azani diplomats are famous for their grace and patience, though outsiders sometimes mistake this for arrogance.

Sports and Physical Culture

The Azani are renowned for their love of sport. Athletic competition is not only entertainment but a respected social institution. Most citizens participate in some form of physical discipline throughout life.

Popular Azani sports include aerial racing, endurance climbing, aquatic competitions, precision martial arts, zero-gravity gymnastics, team ball games, and ceremonial duelling forms. Their military also draws heavily from athletic academies.

Government: The Azani Assembly

The Azani regime is a democracy governed by the Azani Assembly. The Assembly is a representative body made up of elected delegates from Azani Prime, the colony worlds, lunar settlements, orbital habitats, and major civic institutions.

Before the Yrrani, the Assembly was idealistic and somewhat cautious in foreign policy. During the Yrrani vassal period, it remained technically intact, though Yrrani advisors and “protective envoys” quietly influenced its decisions.

After the Great Fall, the Assembly underwent massive reform. Many citizens questioned how much of their prosperity had been purchased through dependency, manipulation, and silence.

Psionic Research

One of the most important and controversial aspects of Azani history is their research into latent psionic potential.

Before Yrrani contact, Azani scientists had already detected unusual neurological patterns in a small percentage of military personnel. These patterns suggested that some Azani might possess dormant psionic capabilities. Early testing was limited, classified, and restricted to military volunteers or selected candidates.

Initial success rates were poor, with only around 10% of tested candidates showing measurable psionic activation. Even then, many abilities were weak, unstable, or difficult to reproduce.

The Yrrani became deeply interested in this research. Publicly, they framed their involvement as scientific support. Privately, they saw the Azani as a potential psionic asset — a species that could be shaped into loyal seers, battlefield adepts, intelligence operatives, or psychic instruments of control.

Under Yrrani guidance, the success rate rose from 10% to 27%. This was presented to the Azani as a miraculous breakthrough. Testing was not available to civilians. Candidates were usually drawn from military personnel, intelligence services, or highly screened scientific volunteers. If no latent ability was found, the candidate was medically examined and returned to duty.

Those who did show ability required extensive training. Untrained psionic awakening could cause emotional instability, sensory overload, hallucinations, migraines, telepathic leakage, or uncontrolled bursts of force.

The first true, sentient artificial intelligence to be created within the alliance. Known as “Aditya,” the Artificial Intelligence adopted a female gender – a novel concept not previously considered in early computational models for her computer core. The new A.I. would go on to revolutionizes theories on artificial intelligence and their characteristics, “Aditya’s” genesis had a positive impact on life. There, the fledgling Artificial Intelligence helped city leaders to improve transportation, solve economic issues, and improve the city’s overall efficiency. “Aditya’s” framework became the baseline for future artificial intelligence in the years to come, and remnants of her matrix are found in almost all artificial intelligence in existence within the TSA. More importantly, her existence paved the way for the explosion of artificial intelligence and the birth of a new species that took full sentience, and would take a while to earn rights equivalent their biological creators.

An Android body was soon constructed; it is an advanced technological humanoid construct used to house an artificial intelligence or a limited intelligence. There are a massive number of uses for androids, ranging from industrial to social to military to a combination of all three. Androids are constructed out of a wide range of materials because of the complexity of their construction. The main material used in androids' skeletons are nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloys, because of the extremely high tensile strength, low weight, and the relative abundance of the materials needed to make the alloy.

The skeleton is the core of the android, and is what provides androids with their enormous strength and durability. There are also polymers and many exotic alloys used for joints and artificial musculature, as they are very durable and have the flexibility and conductivity that allow for extremely high information transfer rate, and also provide better electrical conductivity. Depending on what use an android is being designed for, the spine is either reinforced or streamlined, to either provide enhanced strength for industrial jobs, or to make an android appear more humanoid.

The skin and hair of an android usually are comprised of, once again, polymers, and nanobots. Polymers are used because they have a wide range of tolerances for stress, temperature, and other extremes, and because of that they are an ideal material for an exterior cover. Nanobots are used to repair the polymer as it slowly ages and degrades over time, and are also for cosmetic uses, helping to create hair and change its colour and style, and to also make skin appear more lifelike by adding and maintaining details such as follicles, pores, and small imperfections so that the polymers appear like real skin.

As implied by the name, artificial life is typically created through sophisticated computer programming and massive amounts of hardware. Additionally, some higher forms of artificial intelligence are able to reproduce themselves, either through self-replication or by combining their own programming information with data from one or more other artificially intelligent entities to create an entirely new intelligence. Artificial life constitutes a sizeable minority of the population in the Known Worlds. Under Alliance law, all machines and programs that pass a standardized set of intelligence tests are afforded full rights and citizenship. Artificial Intelligence's can feel many human emotions, like love, hate, sadness and joy. It has been said that the rate of insanity among Artificial Intelligences is far less than the organic population.

The Triune Solaris Alliance Ground Forces are built around high-mobility combined-arms warfare. Rather than relying on slow massed armies, Alliance forces use speed, coordination, precision, and layered support to overwhelm enemies before they can fully react.

Alliance ground operations begin with reconnaissance. Scouts, stealth teams, drones, psionic specialists, orbital sensors, and electronic warfare units map the battlefield, identify enemy command nodes, and locate civilian or protected zones. Once the enemy is understood, the Alliance strikes quickly and carefully.

Infantry form the core of Alliance ground control. Standard soldiers, marines, commandos, engineers, medics, shield-order troops, drone coordinators, and jump-pack units work alongside anti-grav vehicles to seize objectives, protect civilians, and secure territory. Infantry are supported constantly rather than treated as disposable.

Alliance vehicles are designed for rapid movement across almost any terrain. APCs, IFVs, light tanks, scout vehicles, drone carriers, artillery, missile platforms, and main battle tanks move as flexible battle groups. Heavy grav-tanks, super-heavy grav-tanks, and mobile fortresses are deployed only when overwhelming force is required.

The Alliance prefers to break an enemy through precision pressure: disrupting command, blinding sensors, cutting supply routes, isolating strongpoints, and striking armour or artillery before committing its main assault force. Orbital strikes, nano-swarms, incendiary weapons, and siege platforms are heavily regulated and normally avoided near civilians.

Overall, Alliance doctrine is fast, disciplined, and protective. Its goal is not simply to destroy the enemy, but to restore order, defend populations, and end conflicts before they spread.

Solaris Pattern Pulse Rifle: Standard Alliance infantry rifle. Fires controlled particle-energy pulses capable of weakening personal shields and burning through light armour. Reliable, modular, and used by line infantry, marines, and shipboard security.

Helios Particle Carbine: Compact version of the pulse rifle for boarding actions, urban combat, and vehicle crews. It has lower range but excellent handling in tight spaces.

Kinetic Driver Rifle: A Zikeran-influenced infantry weapon that fires dense micro-penetrators at extreme velocity. Favoured by breach troops and anti-armour specialists because it performs well against hardened targets and shield-weakened armour.

Starfire Micro-Torpedo Launcher: Shoulder-fired guided launcher used against vehicles, bunkers, walkers, and low-flying aircraft. Warheads can be configured for shield disruption, armour penetration, EMP burst, or thermobaric shock.

Plasma Arc Projector: Close-range assault weapon used by breachers and boarding marines. It releases a focused arc of superheated plasma, ideal for cutting doors, clearing corridors, and overwhelming shielded infantry.

Aegis Suppression Rifle: A non-lethal or low-lethality weapon used by civic defence officers, peacekeepers, and boarding teams. It fires ionised stun pulses that disable nervous systems, electronics, or powered armour without destroying the target.

Voidknife Energy Blade: Compact melee weapon used by close-combat troops and exosuit operators. The blade is a contained energy edge capable of cutting armour seams, drone casings, and sealed bulkheads.

Shieldbreaker Grenade: A compact pulse grenade designed to destabilise personal shields and create openings for follow-up fire.



Solaris Lance Cannon: A heavy portable or mech-mounted energy lance used against armour, fortifications, and heavy infantry. Smaller than shipboard Solaris Lance Batteries, but based on the same principle.

Colossus Heavy Plasma Cannon: Used by heavy weapons exosuits. It delivers devastating close-to-mid-range fire against bunkers, vehicles, and massed infantry.

Helios Rotary Particle Cannon: A sustained-fire support weapon that fires rapid particle bursts. Common on heavy exosuits, drones, turrets, and light vehicles.

Graviton Disc Launcher: Fires small gravitic disruption discs that distort local gravity on impact. Used for crowd control, anti-mech disruption, or knocking enemies out of cover.

Voidlight Missile Array: Micro-missile pods carried by mechs and heavy exosuits. Used for suppression, area denial, anti-drone defence, and precision strikes.



Aurelian Combat Armour: Standard powered combat armour for elite infantry. Uses ceramic composite plating, flexible undersuit reinforcement, encrypted battlefield links, and environmental sealing.

Nano-Solaris Infantry Plating: A lighter adaptation of Nano-Solaris hull technology. It cannot match starship armour, but uses self-sealing layers, impact dispersion, and limited repair nanites to keep soldiers alive after glancing hits.

Adaptive Personal Shield: A compact shield generator used by officers, assault troops, psionic specialists, and marines. It protects against shrapnel, energy fire, and limited kinetic impacts, but can be overwhelmed by sustained fire.

Boarding Shield Harness: A heavier shield system used by ship-boarding marines. It projects a short-range forward barrier useful for corridor advances and breaching actions.

Hazard Environment Armour: Used by Zikeran-heavy breach units and specialist engineers. Protects against radiation, toxic atmospheres, vacuum exposure, corrosive environments, and unstable reactor zones.



Aurelian Pattern Exosuit: Standard elite exosuit for hostile environments, boarding, and assault missions. It enhances strength, mobility, protection, and battlefield awareness.

Velox Pattern Close-Combat Exosuit Fast attack suit with reflex boosters, micro-thrusters, and energy blades. Used for raids, shipboard assaults, and rapid breach operations.

Oracle Pattern Psionic Exosuit: Rare Azani-linked psionic suit that amplifies and stabilises psionic abilities. Used for battlefield control, mental defence, relic disruption, and counter-Yrrani operations.

Colossus Pattern Heavy Weapons Exosuit: Heavy fire-support suit designed to carry weapons too large for normal infantry. Used in siege warfare, defensive holds, and anti-armour support.

Hull-Breacher Sabotage Drones: Used in naval boarding operations. They attach to enemy hulls, cut through armour, disable systems, and create entry points for marines.

The Alliance prefers combined-arms fleet warfare. Even a single major task force may include escort frigates, stealth corvettes, drone carriers, mine layers, missile ships, landing vessels, medical ships, logistics craft, and orbital defence platforms.

Nano-Solaris Hull Armour

One of the defining technologies of the Alliance Navy is Nano-Solaris Hull Armour.

Nano-Solaris Hull Armour is a layered defensive material used across advanced Alliance warships, stations, and military platforms. It combines Kuridium, Neutronium, and Tirinium with adaptive nano-lattices and self-repairing structural systems.

Kuridium provides the armour’s main structural resilience. It is valued for its ability to withstand intense impacts, thermal shock, and long-term stress.

Neutronium is used in dense reinforcement layers around reactors, command cores, ammunition vaults, spinal weapons, and critical structural frames.

Tirinium improves energy dispersion, shield integration, and resistance to directed-energy weapons.

The nano-lattice woven through the armour allows a ship’s hull to respond dynamically to damage. When struck, the armour can redistribute stress, seal microfractures, reroute energy through conductive veins, and harden vulnerable sections. Larger damage still requires repair crews or shipyard work, but Nano-Solaris systems greatly improve survivability during battle.

On capital ships, the armour is integrated directly with shield grids, damage-control systems, sensor skin, and internal repair drones. This allows ships to continue fighting after damage that would cripple less advanced vessels.

Nano-Solaris Hull Armour is expensive and difficult to manufacture, so its highest grades are reserved for cruisers, battleships, dreadnoughts, carriers, fortress stations, and elite command vessels.

Aegis Point-Defence Grids: Destroy missiles, torpedoes, drones, boarding pods, and strike craft. These grids are essential to Alliance defensive doctrine and are especially dense on escort frigates, carriers, stations, and convoy defence ships.

Starfire Torpedoes: Are heavy anti-ship weapons designed to break through shields and detonate inside armoured targets. They are often used after shield harmonics have been weakened by pulse emitters or particle weapons.

Voidbreaker Missiles:Are long-range missiles that operate in coordinated packs to overwhelm enemy defences. They are frequently used by missile frigates, battlecruisers, and orbital platforms.

Solaris Barrier Shield: Are standard shipboard defensive shields fitted to most Alliance vessels. Unlike Aegis Shield Projectors, they do not normally extend protection to nearby vessels, making them the Alliance’s basic self-defence shield system.

Aegis Shield Projectors: Extend protective shield envelopes over nearby ships, stations, convoys, or landing zones. They are vital to escort formations and planetary defence operations.

Before the rise of the Yrrani order, the future member species existed at different levels of development and influence.

The Zikerans were already a powerful interstellar civilization. They were strong, disciplined, and highly protective of their territory, but they were not the mindless aggressors later Yrrani propaganda would claim them to be.

In fact, before open war broke out, the Zikerans attempted to negotiate a Protected Planets Treaty with the Yrrani. This proposed treaty would have forbidden advanced powers from interfering with non-spacefaring civilizations. The Zikerans believed younger species should be allowed to develop naturally, without being uplifted, manipulated, harvested, enslaved, or used as pawns in greater powers’ games.

The Yrrani rejected the spirit of this proposal. To them, uplift and intervention were tools of rule. They believed their superiority gave them the right to shape lesser civilizations.

Negotiations broke down. Border incidents escalated. Protected worlds became points of dispute. The Yrrani claimed the Zikerans were obstructing galactic progress, while the Zikerans accused the Yrrani of violating the natural sovereignty of developing species.

War followed.

The Zikeran-Yrrani War became one of the defining conflicts of the pre-Pax era.

The Zikerans fought with ferocity, but their goal was not conquest. They fought to preserve their independence and to prevent the Yrrani from interfering with vulnerable, non-spacefaring worlds. Their fleets used fortified systems, hazardous environments, volcanic worlds, hidden bases, and brutal defensive tactics.

The Yrrani, however, were far more advanced. They possessed technologies capable of reshaping battlefields, breaking fleets at extreme range, manipulating client species, and turning entire systems into strategic traps.

As the war turned against them, the Zikerans made a desperate choice. In order to survive, they hid their homeworld.

Using a combination of stealth fields, false stellar cartography, signal masking, deep-space decoys, and planetary-scale concealment systems, they erased their homeworld from Yrrani navigational certainty. Trade routes were collapsed. Archives were purged. Civilian evacuation corridors were concealed. Entire orbital networks went dark.

To the Yrrani, the Zikeran homeworld became a ghost — known to exist, but impossible to reliably reach.

This act saved the Zikerans from total destruction.

The Yrrani eventually claimed victory and rewrote the war. In their official histories, the Zikerans were described as a highly aggressive, warlike species who had threatened galactic stability. The truth was more complicated. The Zikerans were fierce, proud, and dangerous when provoked, but they had not begun as conquerors. They had tried to defend the principle that younger species should not be interfered with.

But history is often written by the victor.

For centuries afterward, many worlds believed the Yrrani version.

The Pax Yrranus was remembered by some as an age of wonders and by others as an age of chains.

The Yrrani built vast infrastructure, spread advanced medicine, ended some local wars, uplifted chosen species, and created marvels that later civilizations struggled to understand. But beneath this splendour was control.

Zikerans During the Pax

The Zikerans endured the Pax as a defeated but unbroken people. Their visible fleets were restricted, their military industries watched, and their surviving territories were placed under intense surveillance.

Yet the hidden homeworld remained free.

Zikeran families preserved forbidden histories in oral tradition, encrypted archives, and clan rites. Children were taught the official Yrrani story in public and the true story in private. They learned that the Yrrani had called them monsters because they had dared to say no. tThey Also supplied medical and some weaponry to the 'Front' although this proved difficult.

This memory became central to later Alliance identity.

Midgarians During the Pax

The Midgarians suffered deeply under Yrrani domination. Their academic and diplomatic civilization was enslaved, exploited, and reshaped by outside control.

Their old society prized scholarship, beauty, diplomacy, and spiritual grace. After liberation, those values survived, but they were joined by a hard vow: Arinar would never again kneel.

The Midgarians became some of the strongest legal architects of the future Alliance’s anti-slavery laws.

Krentasians During the Pax

The Krentasians endured cultural pressure, ecological interference, and territorial restriction. The Yrrani imposed resource quotas, population controls, strategic settlements, and “rational planning” that violated Krentasian ideas of space, territory, and ecological balance.

Some Krentasian worlds were forced into denser urban development than their culture could comfortably endure. Their old religion declined under Yrrani scientific dominance, though it survived in art and private tradition.

The Krentasians learned patience, quiet resistance, and the value of moving unseen.

Azani During the Pax

The Azani experienced the Yrrani age differently.

By the time they encountered the Yrrani, the Azani were already a young interstellar democracy with several systems, colonies, trade routes, research stations, and a growing defensive navy. They were advanced by regional standards, but still far below the scale of an ancient galactic power.

The Yrrani saw great potential in them.

Unlike many others, the Azani were approached in a largely genuine capacity. The Yrrani helped improve their cities, medicine, infrastructure, science, and colony networks. They also assisted Azani psionic research, helping raise successful identification of latent psionic candidates from around 10% to 27%.

This research helped define several Azani psionic disciplines, including empaths, telepaths, precognitives, psionic sensitives, and rare telekinetics.

To the Azani, the Yrrani were not remembered mainly as tyrants. They were remembered as patrons, teachers, protectors, and allies.

The Great Fall began with the death of the Ascendant Emperor and the collapse of the Yrrani imperial order. What followed was a century of war, betrayal, rebellion, fragmentation, and survival.

For one hundred years, the galaxy burned.

Yrrani loyalists fought one another. Slave worlds revolted. Client states turned on former masters. Raider fleets, splinter dynasties, slaver kingdoms, rogue war machines, and experimental military programs escaped central control.

The Yrrani were revealed as powerful, but not eternal.

The Zikerans emerged from concealment and began striking at Yrrani garrisons, collaborators, and remnant fleets. The Midgarians fought to free Arinar and recover their people from bondage. The Krentasians used stealth, sabotage, ambush tactics, and territorial defence to reclaim their worlds. Azani space was suddenly exposed to pirates, slavers, former client fleets, deserters and opportunistic warlords.

Yet the Azani were not entirely abandoned. Small Yrrani communities living on Azani worlds chose to remain rather than flee. Many had served for generations as advisors, scholars, doctors, engineers, diplomats, and military observers. During the Great Fall, they helped defend the worlds they had once helped uplift.

Yrrani engineers reinforced orbital shields and repaired failing infrastructure. Yrrani doctors treated the wounded. Yrrani advisors helped prepare defences against splinter fleets and rogue machines, while some Yrrani soldiers fought and died beside Azani forces.

Together, the Azani and these loyal Yrrani survivors held their systems through a century of chaos. They became known as the Oathbound Yrrani — those who chose duty to their adopted worlds over loyalty to a fallen empire. None of the Oathbound survived the Great Fall. Their numbers were too few, and the wars that followed were too destructive. By the end of the conflict, the last had perished defending Azani space.

Their legacy endured. On Azani Prime, a great memorial was built in their honour. To the Azani, the Oathbound Yrrani became a symbol of loyalty, sacrifice, and the complicated truth of the Yrrani age: even within a fallen imperial order, some chose protection over domination.

By the end of the Great Fall, the Yrrani order had shattered.

But the galaxy was unstable, wounded, and dangerous.

After the Great Fall, the Zikerans, Midgarians, and Krentasians faced the same question:

How could they stop another Pax Yrranus from ever rising again?

They could have isolated themselves. Instead, they formed the Triune Solaris Alliance.

The name Triune honoured the three founding civilizations. Solaris symbolised light after the long shadow of the Yrrani age. Alliance declared that this new power would be based on consent rather than divine rule.

The first founding charter outlawed slavery, forced uplift, species erasure, illegal psionic experimentation, biological exploitation, and cultural extermination. It also created shared military command while protecting member sovereignty.

Early Alliance fleets spent decades destroying slaver routes, liberating prison stations, hunting Yrrani remnants, rebuilding devastated worlds, and securing trade corridors.

During its first five centuries, the Triune Solaris Alliance expanded from a defensive pact into one of the major powers of the galaxy.

This expansion was not always through conquest. Much of it came through treaties, protectorate agreements, reconstruction compacts, anti-piracy campaigns, economic recovery zones, and voluntary membership from worlds desperate for stability after the Great Fall.

The galaxy after the Yrrani collapse was turbulent. Many systems were ruled by warlords, slaver fleets, pirate kings, collapsing client states, rogue military governors, or desperate local governments unable to protect trade and civilian life. In this chaos, the Alliance offered something rare: order without total submission.

Systems that came under Alliance protection often enjoyed:

secured trade routes

protection from slavers and raiders
access to medical technology
restored orbital infrastructure
fairer interstellar courts
reconstruction aid
regulated but reliable commerce
local autonomy under Alliance law
protection from Yrrani remnant factions

Many worlds joined not because they were forced, but because Alliance membership brought peace during an age when peace was scarce.

Over time, the Alliance built shipyards, defence platforms, spaceports, hospitals, research stations, trade hubs, and patrol networks across its territory. Its navy became one of the safest guarantees of interstellar commerce. Its courts became feared by criminals and respected by smaller worlds. Its military academies trained mixed-species officers. Its disaster relief fleets became symbols of hope. Also during this time the Adityans were created.

By the end of the first 500 years, the Triune Solaris Alliance had become a major galactic power. It was not the largest civilization in the galaxy, nor the oldest, but it was one of the most stable, disciplined, and trusted by worlds that feared another age of domination.

Some critics accused it of becoming too powerful. Some outsiders even called it an empire in all but name.

The Alliance response was simple:

“Power is not tyranny unless it demands kneeling.”

The Century of Proving began when the Azani sought closer ties with the emerging Triune Solaris Alliance.

Their entry was controversial. Many Alliance citizens saw them as former Yrrani beneficiaries: a people whose cities, medicine, infrastructure, colonies, and psionic programs had advanced under Yrrani patronage while others suffered conquest, slavery, cultural suppression, and exploitation.

The Azani argued that their history was more complicated.

They had not known the Yrrani chiefly as tyrants, but as patrons, protectors, and teachers. During the Great Fall, small Yrrani communities living among the Azani had chosen to remain behind and defend Azani worlds. These survivors, later known as the Oathbound Yrrani, fought beside Azani forces against pirates, slavers, rogue war machines, deserters, and splinter fleets. None survived the century of chaos, but their sacrifice remained central to Azani memory.

For many in the Alliance, this was difficult to accept. Some saw the Oathbound memorial on Azani Prime as offensive, believing no Yrrani should be honoured after the crimes of the Pax Yrranus. Others saw it as proof that the Azani understood history differently: not as worship of the Yrrani Empire, but as remembrance of individuals who chose protection over domination.

For nearly a century, the Azani were not admitted as full members. Instead, they entered a transitional relationship involving oversight, treaty obligations, military cooperation, cultural exchange, archive disclosure, and political reform.

During this period, the Azani opened Yrrani-era archives, allowed observers into former psionic facilities, assisted anti-slavery campaigns, reformed psionic law, accepted restrictions on classified biological research, and helped expose Yrrani loyalist networks. They also worked to separate lawful inherited science from forbidden imperial practices, especially in psionic research and advanced biological study.

The turning point came with the release of the **Oathbound Archives**: recovered Azani and Yrrani records proving that the Yrrani communities on Azani worlds had knowingly defied collapsing imperial factions to protect their adopted people. The records showed that these Yrrani had not remained as overseers or hidden rulers, but as doctors, engineers, advisors, soldiers, and citizens who chose duty over imperial loyalty.

This revelation changed the tone of the debate. The Azani were no longer seen only as beneficiaries of the Pax Yrranus, but as a people whose relationship with the Yrrani had been unusually complex. Their history did not excuse the crimes of the Yrrani order, but it proved that not every Yrrani legacy was one of domination.

At the end of the Century of Proving, the Azani were admitted as full members of the Triune Solaris Alliance. Their admission became one of the Alliance’s first great acts of reconciliation, proving that the new order would not be built on inherited guilt alone, but on truth, accountability, shared memory, and the willingness to choose a better future.

Fifty years before the present day, Tar Yrra, the lost throneworld of the Yrrani, was rediscovered. Though the planet itself remained sealed beneath an ancient shield that no force could breach, its surrounding system was filled with orbital ruins, derelict shipyards, archive satellites, defence platforms, debris fields, and abandoned vaults.

The discovery triggered the Reclamation Wars, as rival powers, corporations, warlords, slavers, relic cults, former Yrrani client states, and loyalist factions fought to claim whatever could be recovered from the system. No one reached Tar Yrra’s surface, but the surrounding space became a war zone.

To the Triune Solaris Alliance, Tar Yrra was not a prize but a warning. The shielded throneworld represented the surviving danger of the old Yrrani order. Its relics could not be allowed to create another Pax Yrranus.

The Alliance adopted a policy of controlled reclamation without planetary breach. Solaris fleets, science vessels, interdiction ships, stealth craft, Tribunal observers, Relic Containment teams, and Azani psionic specialists tried securing the surrounding system, stopped reckless attempts to break the shield, and prevented dangerous relics from being stolen or weaponised.

The Azani argued that Tar Yrra’s ruins might also contain historical truth, including records of the Oathbound Yrrani and other Yrrani who resisted imperial cruelty. This led to the Tar Yrra Archive Accords, which classified recovered material as historical records, medical science, restricted research, forbidden weapons, artificial intelligences, or existential threats.

The Fourth Reclamation War ended with the Armistice of Jarila, pausing open conflict but not ending the danger. Tar Yrra remains sealed, unbreached, and surrounded by tension. To the Alliance, the Reclamation Wars are not simply wars over relics. They are a test of restraint: to recover truth from the ruins of tyranny without awakening the power that tyranny left behind.
