Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin's pokedex flashed over the two opposing Pokémon. A fairy and a dragon. Unsurprsingly really using one to catch the other. In any case Martin was using Nincada and seemed to be relying on Dawkin for offense. Hm, with no type advantage that would be a difficult task, still... Dawkin selected a pokeball and tossed it revealing Wooper to be his first pick. He immediately followed up with an order, "Wooper, tail whip at them." Wooper obeyed naturally doing a little hop-skip about-face and wagging his small blue tail vigoursly at the two opposing Pokémon. It wasn't much but it would affect but of them and was a decent way to start off the fight. Bagon would presumably try to close the distance at which point Wooper could blast him away and retreat with a Water Gun, hiding behind the defensive Nincada if necessary. Not the best plan certainly but it would have to do.

With two of the Gibles moving on, Erika figured she had to come up with her challenge sooner rather than later. Since on her way up she was considering Lesley's advice, she tried thinking of some simple game that she could try out and none were more simple than tag. "Alright friends, how about we play a... no, I challenge you two to a game." Erika corrected herself figuring the wording was important, even if the Gible's couldn't exactly understand the difference.

Erika approached slowly, being careful not to scare off the two Gibles before stopping just out of reach. Gingerly, she offered an outstretched hand, inviting one of the two Gible's to touch her hand. "Touch each other to make a tag, and the last one touched is 'it' and has to tag the others, okay?" Again, Erika wasn't sure if the Gibles understood exactly so if one of the Gibles did touch her hand, she'd touch them right back. Any further attempt for the Gible to touch her, she'd recall her hand and give a nonchalant shrug, trying to express that the challenge was on.

The woman smiled a bit at Erza as he described his encounter and then showed his new Duskull and named her. She nodded mostly until he came to the part where he actually asked something.

‘Oh, yes. Every week or so we release a new batch of Pokémon into the grass by the school, to keep our students busy catching new ones. This week we released a lot of Purrloins, because of Penelope’s recent rise in popularity many have wanted one, and it’s worked like a charm. There may be some Shinxes left from last week, maybe. But, each week we also add one or two really rare little creatures, just for students to hope to be lucky. They might already be captured, but… Maybe you’d like to try your luck? It hasn’t failed you yet, I think.’ She giggled as she told. All up to Erza if he wants to take a look. ‘There are some elitists who think outsiders shouldn’t be allowed to look in the grass, but if you run into one tell them you got permission from Kathryn. That’ll keep them quiet.’ She nodded with a smile, adding in her name. Then it was about the egg…

‘I don’t actually know what’s in it.’ Kathryn said with a curious look. ‘But Johannes is a talented breeder with far-reaching connections because of his past. It could honestly be anything.’ She shrugged a little, and then smiled. ‘But you won’t have to worry about not treating it right. Pokémon Eggs are a hardy kind. It manages perfectly well on its own, no matter what environment you’d take it through, and is pretty resistant to blows as well. Just carry it around, and it will hatch eventually. Buuuut, keeping it warm helps. If you have a Fire Pokémon or so, storing their Pokéball next to the egg will help keep it warm. Even more so if their ability is Flame Body, but that’s advanced stuff.’ She waved her hand a little to wave that off.

‘The egg’s fully capable of handling itself. Just carry it with you. Okay?’ She smiled to him.

Then if he had more questions, then he could ask those. Or he could head on. Yupp.

‘Bully!? But I’m trying to… I am…’ The boy shook his head in confusion.

Meanwhile, Bonsly went through with picking up a sizeable rock and throwing it despite the change of opponent. Pumpkaboo was focused on Trick-or-Treating, and as such was unable to avoid the well-aimed rock, and… it hurt, badly. It was a considerable hit, another one of those was already dangerous. By now, Amelia might realize the opposing trainer’s Pokémon is numerous levels above her own.

‘Bons-!?’ Bonsly was hit with the energy of Trick-or-Treat in turn, however, and felt the ghostly energy working it’s magic on him. He looked considerably disturbed by this, as his existence felt less linked to the world at large all of a sudden. This didn’t stop his trainer, though.

‘Bonsly! Another Rock Throw!’ He commanded, pointing at Pumpkaboo again. Despite the new status, Bonsly acted on instinct and went to pick up another rock, ready to throw.

What would Amelia do now?

‘Duck?’ The duck had a curious look all of a sudden when Lucian said it was for him, and then he listened in… ‘Duckleeeeeeett!’ He
made a happy little cry and made a motion as if to hug the Pokédex with his wings, as if it was his trainer. While Mia spoke with him he made a few happy nods and then finally, as the call was made, he turned and made a small salute to Lucian, to indicate readiness. ‘Ducklett!’ Much more willing than previously.

‘Thank you. I’ll see you then.’ Mia said, and then he could be on his way. Ducklett blinked in surprise and shook his head+beak at that he wasn’t told to rob Lucian, before getting a move on to move on with him.

So, into the Wet Caverns again. He saw the usual, Zubats trying to bother him, Goldeens swimming through the water, and there were a few Geodudes on the side punching each other for whatever reason. Had Lucian seen Geodudes? Eh, just in case.

Pokédex Entry #74 – Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. Found in fields as well as mountains. They commonly rest, half-buried in the ground and indistinguishable from normal rocks. There are always way more Geodude around than a traveler will notice. Stepping on one by accident may trigger their rage.

They headed back down, following the same path they had been on because that path’s actually travelled occasionally and Houndour could probably smell the most commonly travelled path, and that meant more wading through the waters. He reached the split where left was the river where he had met the Team Virtue guys and so, but Houndour’s nose told that was likely also the exit. To the right was dry land, leading in to another split, not necessarily interesting. Thooough…

‘Excuse us!’
‘Coming through!’
‘Running away!’

There were three people, dashing down from the right, straight into the water. One was a bigger guy with a big backpack and green jacket, looking like a man used to traversing the mountains. The other two were much more fancily dressed, a girl with two long cyan curly twintails for hair and orange suit with skirt on her, while the last man was dressed in all purple with orange lines and a red cape, for whatever reason. They were looking panicked, running at full speed towards the exit of the cavern, avoiding contact or stopping for any reason through the waters. Other than the words of warning, they completely ignored Lucian unless they were stopped or something, looking very frightened for some reason.

Soooo, Houndour could smell where they came from. If that was at all interesting.

Up to Lucian if he found that curious enough to to check, or if he wanted to stop them and ask something or so, or just ignore them like they had ignored him.

Hector grinned with vigor as Claire made her kinda proclamation of victory. ‘Feisty. I’m gonna have to return that energy.’ He commented, and then the battle was on. He looked at Ralia and… ‘Psychic and Fairy, eh. Homework has been done.’ He chuckled a little, before losing the smile and glaring ahead.

‘Timburr! Close the distance!’ Hector commanded, pointing forward.

‘TIM!’ The energetic little fighting-type announced as he dashed ahead, holding his staff/log on the side as he went towards the center of Ralia’s copies. Then, Ralia was preparing to use Confusion, and the Timburr was heading straight towards one of the copies…

‘NOW!’ Hector suddenly announced, just as Ralia was about to release her Confusion. The Timburr then took the staff and thrust down into the ground, and… jumped. He practically flew into the air, using a fighting-type’s strength combined with a staff for jumping, and Ralia would find that her target became considerably harder to focus on. Because any move that don’t automatically hit can now miss.

… But she still hit. She’s that good.

‘BURR!’ Timburr took a Super-Effective mental blow with some purple effect in mid-air and he spun in the air and crashed into the floor somewhat behind the Ralia copies, but despite bruises he was quick on his feet and spun around to face the middle one. Hector let out a little laugh.

‘Good try! It’s the first one on the left. POUND!’ Hector had, somehow, seen which the real one was. Timburr was in his reactions, and looked to the one indicated. He then stabbed the floor behind him with the log, launching himself at Ralia, and then took the log-staff to swing. Swinging the log at her was apparently what constituted as Pound, here.

Now, what would Claire / Ralia do?

While Martin and Dawkin made their commands…

‘…’ Cathia was silent for a bit as she watched the two opposing Pokémon, but she seemed to come to a conclusion. Her expression softened a little on her realization. ‘Bagon. Ember the Nincada. Flabébé, circle around, Vine Whip the Wooper.’

‘Bagoooo---!’ The little dragon cried out as fire started gathering in its mouth, before turning to Nincada and blasting out.

‘Flaaaaaa...!’ Meanwhile, Flabébé was floating in the air with a huge smile, flying by Bagon on its right side and up into the air, needing to be at least a bit closer in order to do her attack, but soon enough it’s little flower sprouted vines which swung down at Wooper.

Neither Pokémon was actually of the type of the move they were using, so they were weaker than if an actual fire- or grass-type had used them. Yet, effectively, both moves would turn super-effective if they hit, and were attacks conducted from a slight distance.

This would happen at the same time as Nincada and Wooper committed to their things. In the case of Wooper, it took long enough for Flabébé to actually reach for her to get Tail Whip off, reducing the defense of the two opponents by slightly distracting them. However, for Nincada the Ember was immediate. If he committed to actually raising Defense, the fireball would definitely hit.

‘Your armor won’t help if I use Special Attacks, will it, Martin?’ She asked, her voice determined. ‘I will.’ She then confirmed that she’d give it her all, and then refocused on the match.

What would Martin and Dawkin do now?

‘Gib?’ The Gibles stares intensified and looked at her as she said the word “challenge”. In fact, the use of the word attracted the attention of the other two, playfighting Gibles, looking over with certain intentness. They looked kind of confused by her explanation of the rules, but then she reached forward with a hand. The Gibles inspected it curiously, and one of the Gibles curiously poked on it with a tiny little hand. He was poked right back by Erika. In retaliation, the Gible tried poking away. Erika pulled away.

‘Gible!?’ If he had understood or not was unclear, but the Gible most certainly jumped after her after she pulled away, with clear intention to poke her again. Perhaps it was by flock-mentality or what, but so did the other one, and so did the two others who had now stopped playfighting and were paying attention. But they may have misunderstood the rules, because Erika suddenly found that she had all the Gibles chasing her. Sure, they were short and didn’t have quite the agility of a human, but they were several pretty strong tiny dragons, and they were chasing her.

It should be noted she had quite a limited space to actually run, there was just this plateau which really actually wasn’t very large, just about 40 meters or so in diameter and then there were rock-walls, a long way down, or areas that were climbable but certainly not runnable. The majority of their time were spent in those tiny caverns, and Erika didn’t fit in those.

Sooooo. Erika’s action?

The woman gave Erza a long explanation regarding the pokémon they released on the area with the patches of grass. Nice, so right now due to Penelope's popularity, many trainers were seeking Purrloins and the trainer's school went ahead on releasing many of them around here. Purrloin was a pokémon Erza didn't knew all too well, however, it was still a pokémon so catching it wouldn't really hurt - even though he already had six pokémon with him, technically. If he counts the egg, that is. The woman also told him that pokémon egg are sturdy and resistant - Erza thanked Arceus for that. He wasn't particularly clumsy but, taking in consideration the very beginning of his journey, before his arrival in Pureplain Town... the egg being resistant was a relief.

Now, taking a deep breath, the boy offered the woman a hand - if she took it, instead of a handshake the boy would lean down and plant a soft kiss on top of her hand. Prince charming would then speak, "Thank you so much, lady Kathryn.." And now with the proper gesture done, the boy gave her his name, too; "I'm Erza Thompson, from Ecruteak Town. I'm a beginner trainer, but I aspire to one day become the champion of Isson. Know that by giving me all that information, you have contributed greatly to my cause!" Well, there was an awkward silence as the boy briefly allowed his mind to think far in the future, seeing himself as a great trainer with powerful, mythical pokémon by his side. The daydream ended abruptly as he began walking off.

"One last thing, Lady Kathryn!" The boy's steps came to a halt. "... Is there anywhere I can get some stylish looking, gorgeous clothes? Aaand, a haircut, maybe?" The boy's expression was deadly serious. He needed it.

Whenever the woman pinpointed him the locations or answered vaguely, those important details were for later. For now, the boy had to confront elitists at the trainer's school wild park and catch himself the rarest of their pokémon, just because something told him that an absurd luck was on his side. With this thought in mind, the trainer directed himself to the park and once there, he released two pokémon: Pidgey and Lillipup. He gestured the two of them close, smiling.

"Friends, I need your help. See, there is one.. maybe two very rare pokémon here. They may have been caught, but I'm hopeful they may not, so we will do the honor. Pidgey, I want you to fly around and see if you find something different. Lillipup, I know you can use your facial hair as a radar so, do that and scout for valuable information. I'm counting on you!"

With that, the two pokémon chanted their names in unison before taking off with the important task ahead. Erza continued walking around on his own... would eventually his pokémon return with any accurate information or important sight?

Erika had little idea what she was getting herself into but had a very faint feeling of fright as she noticed the Gibles snap their attention to her. She felt their beady little eyes watch her as she poked the curious enough Gible right back, backing off the moment she saw the Gible she had just poked, try anything. Sure enough the Gible did, but Erika leaned back and threw her arms up. "Whoa! Too slow, Gible!" She jested with teasing laugh.

Erika was grateful that she was naturally pretty agile due to her ice skating practice and quickly got to her feet from her knees to turn away from the charging Gible that was "it". For only a moment, Erika thought she the Gibles understood her and they were now playing tag as she paced across the plateau to it's nearby lateral edge. There was a commotion behind her but she figured that was just the other Gibles running away or cheering on the game. However once Erika went as far as she could go, she turned and saw the horrific sight of the "it" Gible leading the other three Gibles right to her!

"Eep!" Erika shrieked as she juked the leading Gible and began running towards the wall of the mountain, avoiding the cliffside for obvious safety reasons, before turning to run medially towards the center of the plateau again. As she ran, she swung her bag in front of her, hoping the bag or the contents wouldn't spill out. There wasn't actually a lot of room for this type of game, as it turned out. Erika reached the rocky wall rather quickly and had almost no space to maneuver from the pursuing Gibles. Still, she was determined to give these Gibles a challenge... even if this wasn't what she had in mind. She hugged the wall of the mountain, running in a dead heat, even leaping as she saw a Gible get close, hoping to avoid getting poked.

"You are a bully! You had no right interfering and attacking Driffloon like that!" Amelia shouted back, just before her Pumpkaboo was blasted back by the Rock Throw that hit it. Seeing this, Amelia ran forward and caught her partner. Looking at the damage, she could tell instantly that she was not going to do well against this opponent. That Rock Throw had dealt Pumpkaboo a decent amount of damage and she didn't feel safe keeping it in battle.

Deciding it would be best to retreat, she looked up in time to see the rocks flying towards her. She barely managed to get to her feet and avoid them before they hit her. Giving the boy one last glare, she ran into the nearby woods, carrying the Driffloon and Pumpkaboo in her arms. She would keep running, changing directions often in an attempt to try and lose the boy. Once she was sure she got away, she leaned against a nearby tree before slowly falling to the ground, breathing heavily. Her heart was beginning to act up and she needed to rest before the worst scenario came about. But this meant she could keep running, so she had to hope nothing happened. Looking down at the pokemon in her arms, she gave them a smile.
"How're you two doing?" She asked

"Pumpka." Pumpkaboo said, obvious still in pain

"I'm sorry. I didn't know he was that strong." Amelia said before looking at Driffloon. "And what about you?"

Lucian observed the trio as they moved past for several moments, silently debating whether or not to follow along. Eventually he shrugged and gestured for houndour to move down their original path towards the other side of the cave, Lucian would rather deal with one adventurous at a time. He sighed as he saw the water he would have to wade through to reach the exit of the cave before beginning the wet walk through the tunnel.

Oh, that Timburr was definitely well trained! And definitely a lot different than the other ones she had seen so far. She wondered how exactly its trainer did that - she'd love to have a fighting type like it. Ah well, thought for later. No distractions! As the Timburr went to attack Ralia again, Claire grinned. Hook line and sinker! Hector was really good if he could tell where Ralia was so readily, but it didn't matter so much. She had an idea! One that with a little training, could make Double Team a bit more effective if a pokemon found Ralia's location - so long as they didn't have some sort of move that would let them easily identify her.

"Alright, Ralia! Give 'em a little switcharoo and hit 'em again!" Hopefully before the log could hit, Ralia would teleport to the space one of her clones had been occupying - effectively flawlessly swapping places with the one furthest away from Timburr. It'd likely be fairly evident what she did, but with a little practice she hopefully wouldn't have to give Ralia instruction to do it from now on.

If she was indeed successful in teleporting away, she would attempt to hit Timburr with another confusion.

The enemy was approching quickly, too fast for Nincada to use his move. It's always Fire moves, Martin had to think. He was dreading this happening, and here it was. Fire coming towards Nincada, and Vine Whip was going to hit Wooper. If it was the other way around, wait. "Nincada, change of plans. Get out of the way of the Ember and take that Vine Whip attack. It's easier to trade places with the attacks. Be the hero we need, and use Scratch on Flabebe after that. Don't let Flabebe hit Wooper, and stay in it's face. Armor isn't the only way to be on defense." Here was another time he was taking a hit, but he didn't mind. He can't go saying he had Dawkin's back if he bailed out so early. The match ups weren't preferable, but Nincada could handle a Grass move a lot better than Wooper.

Nincada stared at the Ember coming his way, being snapped out of his own little world being told to get out of the way. He turned his body to move quickly towards Flabebe, who was getting ready to attack. He stopped in front of Wooper, claw raised to meet his foe in combat. Or at least, Martin was hoping this would be the case. A lot can go wrong, but he wasn't stopping. "I can't do too much as long as Bagon is here. Mind taking care of him, Dawkin? I'll keep the Fairy busy for a while." He might be asking too much of Dawkin, but he didn't have too many options on his end. Flabebe was keeping Goldeen from being a good idea as well. He wasn't risking Sprout if he could help it. Only one had to go down to open up options again.

Tch, far enough along to know non-type moves that happened to have advantage over them? Dawkin gave a heartbeat of consideration to switching out, Atlas would have to take a hit coming in but... Martin was already moving, having Nincada guard Wooper from Flabebe. In which case, "Of course, Wooper, fire a watergun at that Bagon." Nincada was hiding behind Wooper so there was no need for the relatively un-agile Pokémon to move, it could focus on attacking instead. More than happy at the chance to fire streams of water all over the place Wooper immediately shot a burst of water at Bagon rather vigorously. If things went according to plan this shouldn't be too difficult. Of course there was that saying, no plan survived first contact with the enemy, and things were about to get awfully contactful.

Rory was victorious! Rory earned 124P for winning!

After his battle, Rory continued to Highhill Town. After a while of walking, he reached his home in the region. As he walked along the paths, Spheal in tow, various people came to greet him, mostly children, and asked about his pokémon journey. Rory had to explain that it had only just begun, but most people realsied this, seeing as he had only left that day.

After a while of speaking to people, Rory made his way to the pokémon centre, where he got Spheal healed. Whilst he waited, he got food in there, and sat at a table, waiting to see if anyone, hopefully pokémon trainers, would join him.

Kathryn looked at him in slight surprise when he started introducing himself, then gave him a little smile of encouragement.

‘Alright, then, Erza. I will remember that if you do make it big.’ She nodded to him and then listened on. She was a bit surprised at his last request to her, but she could smile.

‘There are clothing stores and barbers in Pureplain City, but you might find that the style they’re sporting here’s fairly… plain.’ Of course there’s clothing stores and such, IT’S A CITY. ‘If you want a place that prides itself on its coolness, then Justroad City’s the chic place to be and get all the coolest stuff.’ She momentarily dabbled in what she probably imagined being the current “cool, young” speech patterns. She reverted quickly enough. ‘… That may also be on the other side of Isson, though. Redcoast City has the Dreamer Studios, and a shopping street right around there for making idols, you should be able to find something cool there that’s considerably closer.’

She could point out where the stores were if Erza wanted to find them in-town. Otherwise, it was on outwards. Kathryn waved him goodbye before focusing on her current duties instead.

So, Erza found his way out to the grass outside the school. It was actually a little miniature forest, with plenty of places a Pokémon might be hiding. There were other trainers here, looking around, but they weren’t minding him right now. He instructed his Pokémon to search for him, and they found a couple Pokémon. Mostly cats lounging around, Purrloins that had been freed before, but also the occasional Shinx sleeping around here and there. Nothing that really threatened them.

Pokédex Entry #509 – Purrloin, the Devious Pokémon. It puts up a cute act to fool humans around it. It loves stealing things for fun and will act cute in order to make people forgive it. If endangered, it will counter-attack with sharp claws.

Pokédex Entry #403 – Shinx, the Flash Pokémon. When its muscles extend or contract, it generates electricity. When it senses danger, a Shinx will let the electricity run through it, causing it to glow. If threatened, it uses its muscles to flash a bright light to blind the predator while it flees.

Though, no rarer Pokémon could be found. In fact, he accidentally overheard two girls talking.

‘There’s no point looking further. The rare Pokémon have already been caught.’ One said.

‘Aaaaaaww…’ The other made a complaining noise. ‘What were they? Who caught them?’

‘Apparently, they were Amauras.’ The girl said in an observant tone.

‘EEEEEEEEEH!?’ The other girl overreacted. ‘… What are they?’

‘Oh, some ice-type fossil Pokémon…’ The girl said, pondering. ‘Daisy caught them both. She had special ways of detecting ice-Pokémon. Apparently Penelope’s trying to negotiate her to trade one of them.’

‘Ehe. Maybe if I went to see Daisy, I could have a chance of convincing her to give it to me instead…’ The other girl said dreamingly.

‘… Think you got something to offer Daisy that the successful idol Penelope can’t outbid?’ The girl said with an incredulous stare.

‘Aaaagh… Guess not…’ And that was the end of that discussion.

… So, what did Erza do? Of course, it was all up to what he wanted in this situation.

‘Gible!’ ‘Gib?’ ‘Gib-gib?’ ‘Gible!’ ‘Gible?’ ‘GIBLE!’ As Erika was pursued by a party of four Gibles, she could reasonably avoid them because thankfully they weren’t actually using tactics to hunt her down. However, the rush of unfamiliar activity was drawing the attention of other Gibles, watching curiously… and some joining in. And then more of them. Erika suddenly found herself pursued by the majority of the Gibles on the plateau, most of which hadn’t actually heard the rules, but it looked fun. A little blue swarm of teeth and muscles pursuing her every move.

Now, maybe she was faster than them. However, they were growing more and more numerous, and with that the amount of leeway she had to escape the masses shrunk on the limited space of the plateau. The fact that Gibles were joining from a bit of everywhere made dodging them all considerably harder before they joined the swarm. However, ultimately…

As described by the Pokédex, Gibles are Pokémon that lay ambushes for prey. One of them thought to use this to his advantage. Erika was running along, when…

‘GIBLE!’ One of them jumped out of the wall next to her with intention to catch her, and she wouldn’t have the time to dodge. She might catch him, though, if that was her immediate instincts. Otherwise she might be knocked over by the force of the 20 kg little monster jumping into her. Now, if that happened, don’t worry, the swarm of Gibles isn’t going to trample her, but if allowed to catch up they’d definitely all take their moment to tag her and look happy as they did, like they’d achieved something. Regardless, the ambusher looked really happy, wherever he was right now.

‘Gible~!’

So, how would she act after this? What might she do?

‘Th-that Pokémon might steal you away forever! You’re going to…!’ The trainer tried to justify himself. Seemed to be a rather considerable prejudice on Drifloons around here. Then… Amelia turned and fled. The opponent looked in surprise, but quickly started running to catch up. ‘W-wait!’

‘B-bons…!’ The little bonsai Pokémon complained, trying to run after, but wasn’t near as fast as the humans. In a moment of reconsideration that would mean Amelia got the head-start she needed, the trainer paused and spun around, returning Bonsly to its Pokéball, before turning around and running after Amelia again.

But, she managed to lose him, switching directions and hiding behind trees in the rainy part of this forest. Then sat down.

‘Where did she go!?’ … He reappeared behind her. That is, he was on the other side of the tree she was sitting by. She heard him move, looking around on the other side, but he wasn’t seeing her. Then… she heard him pick up something, press numerous buttons, while starting to hurry away.

‘This is Elite Jonas! I need all available Grunts from West Base to search Silent Forest for… … … … And she lost the ability to hear what he said as he ran off into the forest.

‘Driflooon…’ Drifloon, in the meantime, looked a little sad for the trouble that it had evidently caused for Amelia. But, that aside… looked like they were in a new area now. Because they were clearly not on Route 3 anymore.

‘Fla?’ ‘Bé?’ ‘Bé?’

… And all of a sudden three fairies floated down to her, with curious or worried tones and looks, flying on their flowers of varying colors seemingly unperturbed by the rain. There were more of them in this forest, Amelia could see that already from here. But these were closest.

Pokédex Entry #669 – Flabébé, the Single Bloom Pokémon. At the beginning of its life, this fairy picks a flower that then becomes a part of its body. It can draw out and control the hidden power of flowers, whatever that means. When it floats in the wind, any troubles in its heart is said to wane.

So, what now? She still held Drifloon.

Lucian could move on, without being any further troubled. Seeking towards the exit, he passed the place where they had previously encountered the Team Virtue grunts. They weren’t here anymore. Anyways. Lucian moved on, wading on through the river. He came to another split. Here, there were three ways.

The majority of the river continued to the left, where it was just a turn of the water flowing down, but if they listened well enough, it sounded like the current got more violent down that direction. What could await there?

Straight ahead was a basically straight line on solid ground, allowing them to get out of the water, though there was yellow light in the end of it. They couldn’t see from here, but the light looked artificial.

Then to the right, there was a fairly nice pathway where there was dry land for walking on to the left side of the gentle stream of water. That particular tunnel grew wider, leading who knows where when it curved out of sight.

So, Houndour could tell the exit was to the right. He could also tell Martin and Dawkin had travelled that route recently. But… he could also smell something a little different. There were Pokémon gathered straight ahead, of a kind that he had smelled before. It was at least a little more exotic. Up to them if they’d actually take a look.

If not, he could always just go directly towards the exit now.

While Timburr was running straight for her current location, Ralia was able to focus on the location of one of her clones and teleport, right before Timburr’s swing would have impacted as the little fighting-type swung it’s pole. It then looked around in confusion at the different Ralias remaining, noticing none that appeared out of nowhere. Hector led out a laugh.

‘GENIUS! You used Double Team to disguise the target of your teleport! I like your wit, trainer Claire!’ Then he grinned and focused on Timburr. ‘C’MON, Timburr! Focus! You’ll know which one’s the real one! Go ahead, she’s wide open for you! Do it! POUND!’ Hector commanded, but Timburr didn’t look quite as sure, looking panicked at Hector’s encouragement.

Ralia would notice something, however. Having teleported like this, she needed an amount of time to regain her bearing and to then refocus her power to use a Confusion. She couldn’t rapidly get another attack off after having used Teleport like this.

‘… TIM!’ Timburr glared in determined focus on the different Ralia’s around, trying to decide which one was the right one, with Hector glaring with a confident excited encouraging smile at him from a distance. Timburr looked back, and then forth, glared at one, and the other, then closed his eyes for a moment. … Then his eyes snapped open and he threw his log-pole, sending it spinning across the room!

Had he somehow found out, or was it sheer luck? Regardless, Ralia found she wouldn’t be able to get a Confusion off before the spinning, flying log impacted her without her being able to dodge. And for some reason, throwing that log still counted as Pound. The log impacted hard, dealing a considerable amount of damage, strong attack against low defense, before the log spun away and hit a wall with several Gym residents needing to move out of the way to not be hit.

‘WELL DONE! I knew you had it in you!’ Hector grinned widely and praised the Pokémon.

‘Timburr!’ Timburr looked up at the Gym Leader with a proud smile.

‘But, now you’re totally defenseless until you’ve picked up your log again!’ Hector said in the same proud tone.

‘Timb-?’ Timburr blinked up in surprise at Hector, wondering what he meant, just in time for Ralia to recover and actually get off the Confusion she was charging before.

‘TIMBU-!?’ And Timburr was hit by another Confusion, and was sent stumbling around away from Ralia before tumbling into the ground. Timburr had fainted. Hector laughed as he held forward the Pokéball and returned Timburr.

‘Well done, little guy! But for now, rest. Now, then. ISABELLE!’ He shouted out, and another Pokéball was lobbed through the room after a girl had shouted her acknowledgement. Hector caught it, flawlessly, and then threw it down into the ground with a grin.

‘This one evolved early, so it isn’t actually on as high a level as it looks, buuut…’ Hector was still grinning. From the flash of the Pokéball, stood up a slightly more than a meter-tall blue and black canine-like Pokémon with beige torso, standing focused and glaring ahead.

‘It’s still a Lucario. LUCARIO! GYM BATTLE…!’ Hector announced. Alike Timburr, a fire seemed to light inside the bipedal Pokémon’s eyes, and it extended its arms and looped them around the sides of its body, before doing one or two practice thrusts and a kick into the air, before planting its feet and raising its arms in a battle stance, glaring at Claire and Ralia.

‘Luuu…’ It challenged.

Pokédex Entry #448 – Lucario, the Aura Pokémon. It can sense the Aura of others, and can by that read their thoughts and movements, and can by that detect even far-off or hidden foes. They use this to detect prey, and also employ aura as offensive power. Often hunt in packs.

‘And so, by the rules.’ Hector grinned still. ‘You may enter one more Pokémon.’ And so it was.

Nincada moved in to take the Vine Whip, and did so successfully, only taking a slight bit of the damage Wooper would have taken due to Flabébé’s naturally low physical attack against Nincada’s high defense. However, before he could attack…

‘Flabébé, pull away, to your right.’ Cathia ordered, and Flabébé drifted sideways away from Nincada’s scratch. Vine Whip had longer range than Scratch, enabling this. Meanwhile, Wooper shot out a Water Gun at Bagon, which… had barely any effect on the dragon, who met the water-beam head on, and pushed through. Not Very Effective.

‘Flabébé, Fairy Wind on Nincada. Bagon, Rage.’ Cathia commanded, looking forward at the enemies.

Should they be allowed to do as they pleased, Flabébé summoned the forces of fairy-kind from a slight distance and smiled oh, so, happily…

‘Flaaaaaa...!’ … Before launching the wind of mystical energy at Nincada, a wind that could prove difficult to avoid. Meanwhile…

‘BAGON-!!’ Bagon glared at Wooper and dashed for her, taking heavy dragon-step after heavy dragon-step for its size (that thing weighs 40 kg!), eyes glaring in the anger of Rage, dashing for her.

Now, what would they do?

Yupp, Rory had to wave off various people who knew him in Highill, but he was wished the best of luck and with hope that he’d make their town proud, the children looking up to him because going on a Pokémon trip is awesome. But other than that, he was on his way once again. So, he headed for the Pokémon Center to heal.

He then sat down in the Center, checking if anyone would join him. While he did sit there, he did see a couple young Pokémon trainers rushing in to get their Pokémon healed, an elderly traveller that sat down to relax by himself, and a couple of female trainers in a group talking about their experiences together as they moved through.

But, uh, nope. Nobody paid him any mind. Sure, there were trainers coming and going here and there from having been around Route 1, 3 and potentially Silent Shrine/Forest, but none paid any particular mind to him. Bear in mind that the Pokémon Center was a place of unwinding for any trainer, where they can sit and just relax. Now, sure, there could always be those that approached those sitting around, but not this time. Rory was free to sit there as long as he wanted to. Maybe something would happen if he just stayed here?

Or maybe he should get a move on?

Connected areas:
Route 1. To the south, is the common route of first journeys. Green and straight.
Route 3. To the north, the route to Rainrock or the Silent Shrine. A wet woodland.
Route 14. To the east, the lake known as the Dragon Lake, potentially for crossing.

Amelia barely got any time to relax before she heard the man pursuing her. She quickly hugged both pokemon to keep them quiet and held her breathe. Once she heard his voice fading in the background, she let go of the two pokemon in her arm, Phantump moving to float over her shoulder, looking around and lighting up their surrounding with beams of light from the eyes of it's pumpkin body.

Letting Driffloon float away but still holding onto it's hand, she heard the sadness in it's cry and she gave it a small smile in return while reaching up and petting the cloud on it's head. Her hand passed through it but she just reached until she found the top of it head and began petting it.
"It's okay. That man was just being a bully. I'm not mad at you." She said before hearing three cries from above her. She was about to look up when the source of the cries came to eye level... and she let out that kind of squeal girls sometimes make when they see something they find very cute. She reached out with her free hand and held up palm up for the Fairies to float over. "Hello there. What's your name?"

She glanced at Phantump who was still lighting up things with it's lights. A thought occurred to her before she looked at the Flabébé before her.
"And do you know where I can find some Oran Berries for my friend?"

So. Erza's pokémon returned to him and - they found nothing that Erza didn't saw already. Purrloin and Shinx weren't exactly something Erza wanted but, should he catch them? That would help him with the objective of acquiring as much pokémon as possible. Still, the boy after some thought decided to simply leave the trainer's school and move to another place commonly populated by pokémon trainers; The pokémart. The decision was further helped when he overheard two girls chatting about the rare pokémon, it had been caught by another trainer and Erza honestly didn't want the hassle of a trade - he wasn't one for handing out his pokémon and he didn't have anything rare to offer back anyway, except his Eevee which he wouldn't trade even for a shiny Dragonite.

Anyway, right, pookémart. In there, he made quite the purchase, eight pokéballs and four potions spending a grand total of 2800 pokédollars - when did he received all that money? Well, anyway, now with only a few pokédollars left but well equipped for adventure and pokémon catching, Erza's hasty steps brought him to Route 01. Yes, the boy wandered all the way over here.

Finally, he left the plain city that was as plain as it gets and began a more realistic journey in the wilderness. Now, the boy had developed a plan of his next few moves; train his weakest pokémon which was Pidgey and Lillipup while searching for one pokémon he desired to catch: Growlithe.

And of course, out came Pidgey and Lillipup. Erza would take turns, battling with one at a time and seeing how far they would develop until he came across what he wanted.

Martin was taking this pretty well. The opponent was out of the way, leaving Nincada unable to pursue. On the bright side, it wasn't going after Wooper. He was biting off a bit trying to solo this. The match up was better on defense, but he was struggling to come up with an answer to it being so high. Nincada was a short range fighter who relied on grounded opponents. Flabebe can stay at a distance, so he didn't have a good idea. If he switched out, it would have to be Goldeen. Sprout was going to be his last shot. So all he could do was waste Flabebe's time until Bagon went down. "Nincada, stay on the move. Avoid the attack. If it comes close enough, hitch a ride and use Leech Life." Dodging would work for a while, at least until he saw his chance.

Nincada gave his usual nod, listening for Flabebe and moving to get out of it's attack. While his sight might be limited, the other Pokemon was quite loud about announcing itself. Martin was considering a swap out, but nothing lined up any better. Nincada was great at defending, and Sprout was a good attacker. No, it was too early to be giving up. Nothing can beat his Nincada, who shrugs off blows and conversations alike. He looked at his opponent, already coming up with a Taunt, "Not a bad idea taking to the air, but it won't be saving you. Caves only go so far up, while you have nowhere to go but down." Just stay focused on me, and it should be fine.

The next few instants, were a roller coaster of emotions for the redhead.

Yes, the teleport worked! She grinned.

Oh no, Ralia got hit anyways! Her mouth turned into a wince.

Yay, She got off the confusion! And was once again replaced with a victorious grin.

Oh no, that was a Lucario! That was bad. Steel type. Very bad. Unfun bad times ahead.

Ralia twirled her way back over to where Claire was, seemingly not too much worse for wear despite taking a log upside the head. Well, that was good. But bad. Because Lucario. Fairy types Vs. Steel types didn't exactly go so well. Even without it knowing a steel type move this would be difficult. Well, what could she do then?

Strats Claire, strats! You can do this.

The redhead's hands moved over her pokeballs. Lure wasn't going to help. Maybe she could have Kakuna constantly use harden and act as some sort of shield? He had a decent defense and fighting moves weren't going to help so much against them, but mobility was an issue. Ritz? Ledyba could fly and have some decent speed, but it's defenses weren't the best. Wait...the strat back at the temple worked well enough, didn't it? Well...why not, then?

"Alright Ritz, come on out boy!" The ledyba appeared in a flash of red light. Thankfully, since this was a somewhat practiced maneuver...she didn't have to really give full instructions, now did she? "Alright, remember how we handled Anise? Do that again, but better!"

"L-led?!" Ledyba looked between Claire and Lucario for a moment, a bit confused as to what was happening but nodded after a few seconds. Oh dear, a fight again. It seemed like this was going to be its little buggy life from now on. "L-led." Well, he remembered what they did back at the temple, right?...right.

The Ledyba started zipping around the edge of the field. First, supersonic to try and confuse it. If it got to close to Ralia, tackle the Lucario.

Because tackling a steel type was an effective strategy. Ralia had already started firing up a confusion.

Although the game Erika was playing was a slightly modified version of tag, it still seemed like a big success as her pursuing four Gibles appeared to be enjoying themselves... maybe a little too much. Apparently the commotion of their game had attracted another Gible and then another... so on until Erika thought she was fleeing from the entire plateau! "Aaaah! Wait a minute this is too many!" Erika called out to her Gible friends as they all tried their luck at tagging her. It was only a matter of time as Erika was surrounded but it wasn't the numbers that eventually got it, rather it was the ambush of a single Gible.

Completely taken by surprise, Erika had only the time to blink as she was knocked off her feet in an ungraceful display, falling onto her back. With slight head trauma, Erika nursed the back of her scalp while the horde of Gibles all came in and tagged her. Victory was theirs, Erika finally had to admit. "Alright, alright! You guys win!" Erika called out to her playmates before leaning up to a sitting position. However there was one real winner in Erika's mind and it was decided that Erika would invite that particular Gible to join her.

Still standing triumphantly on Erika's legs as Erika allowed the sneak to remain there, Erika patted that Gible on the head. "Hey, buddy, you carried the game and won it all, I think at least. We can play some more if you want but would you like join my team and come with me?" Erika gestured to Gible and then to herself to help try and illustrate her intention.

Drifloon accepted Amelia’s comforting and then simply hung around. She still held it, after all, looked like it was along for the ride.

Now, then. Amelia greeted the three small fairies with a cry that made them momentarily recoil, but then just look among one another in light amusement. Then, she asked the one question that they could actually answer.

‘Flabébé!’ One of them answered in a high-pitched voice, rising a little in altitude as it did. She also didn’t mind floating over the young girl’s hand, looking at her. So, then she asked if they knew a place where they could find some Oran Berries… The faces lit up.

‘Flabé!’ ‘Bébé!’ The fairies then drifted away from her, into the forest and directly through one of the arcs standing around, smiling to her and pausing if she was taking her time following, they clearly intended her to follow. Reminder, it’s still raining, although the forest trees were taking a lot of it.

Erza left the school and then headed on to the Pokémart, shopped for mostly all his remaining money, and then headed on out. It was easy to find the way towards Route 1, simply follow the largest roads. He passed many people within Pureplain City, heading on their average businesses, but as he came further out the people thinned out, replaced with travellers and Pokémon trainers. Yupp. It was time to come out into the world of Isson.

So, out in the wild he saw more Pidgeys, as he could be reasoned to, and it wouldn’t take many steps out into the tall grass before he and his Pokémon came face to face with the other most common Pokémon of Route 1, a purple-backed little rat commonly known as Rattata.

Pokédex Entry #19 – Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. It has impressive vitality that allows it to live anywhere there is food. It scavenges for food all day and reproduces quickly. Very cautious, it’s ears listen for trouble even when asleep. It’s teeth never stop growing, it will gnaw on things to keep their size in check.

Well. He did intend on training, and here was the weakest Pokémon in Isson, and they came in droves. It was just smash in and do work. He trained his two weakest Pokémon, fighting on and on against the smaller ones. He’d note there were many Youngsters and such new Pokémon trainers doing basically the same thing. Well. He’s be able to get considerable progress, making Pidgey and Lillipup more fit to be fighting Pokémon on his team.

Lillipup grew to Level 5! Lillipup learned Odor Sleuth!

Pidgey grew to Level 5! Pidgey learned Sand Attack!

Both are pretty beat up, now, though, having fought from a low level to a slightly more respectable one in one stretch.

Oh, hi, Oran Berry! … That is, Lillipup finds an Oran Berry lying around in the tall grass.

… However, beyond that. Erza would search, and he’d find. Pidgey knew what he was looking for, correct? From a higher point of view, Pidgey’d see a Growlithe, resting against a tree by the other end of the tall trees, by the beginning of the forest. From there, Erza could advance.

Pokédex Entry #58 – Growlithe, the Puppy Pokémon. Known to be brave and loyal to it’s trainer, but will bark threateningly at anyone entering its territory. It has superb sense of smell and will never forget a smell once it has picked up on it. Through smell, it can sense the emotions of others.

From the smell, Growlithe would notice Erza approaching its territory. The resting puppy-Pokémon would quickly spring to its legs, turning towards Erza, and rapidly proceed to bark at him, glaring. Now, then. What would Erza do?

Nincada, moving sideways, was able to avoid Flabébé’s Fairy Wind, which soared through the cavern and the spiritual wind broke against the cavern walls as it passed, making its mystical destructive capability known as it went through. Fortunately, it wasn’t that fast, but it had range. And Flabébé was using that range, keeping a distance from Nincada, drifting backwards. Meanwhile, Wooper went off to the right into the water to keep shooting Water Guns at Bagon, which took every single one of them, with little damage done. Bagon was still charging Wooper in rage, when…

‘Bagon. Discontinue.’ Cathia ordered, neutral but focused expression. She hadn’t reacted to Martin’s taunt, her attention completely on the battle. ‘Charge Nincada. Ember when close enough or after the next Water Gun. Flabébé. Move closer to Nincada, Fairy Wind. Punish dodging.’

Bagon has to twist itself to break the Rage attack, but manages. Instead, it turns to Nincada, who now stands without the Wooper shield because Wooper went to the water. Because of Not Very Effective, it seems Cathia decided to focus down on one of her opponents. Bagon turned and dashed, fire building in its mouth, glaring at Nincada. Flabébé joined the charge, summoning another Fairy Wind, ready to unleash.

Now, what would they do?

Lucario and Hector both stood still as Claire sent out Ritz. Hector stood with a confident grin, arms crossed, looking at Claire and her Pokémon with eager and battle-ready eyes. Lucario, meanwhile, stood simply stoic and ready, arms raised for combat. Then, the battle was starting. Ritz was starting to fire Supersonic, while Ralia was charging a Confusion… Hector’s grin spread enough to show teeth.

‘Lucario, FIGHT!’ So sounded his only command. It was all he needed.

‘Luca!’ The blue canine-like Pokémon sounded out, before… it was gone in the wind. No, not quite gone, but very fast. Not extreme speed fast, but Quick Attack fast. Lucario used the move to run right around Ritz’s Supersonic, the waves missing completely, before the blue Pokémon simply jumped up into the ladybug for immediate impact. It had been too fast to dodge. Ritz would find that the impact had dealt considerable damage… but he could probably handle at least one or two more of those.

In the meantime, Ralia got off her Confusion when Lucario stopped and had to drift to the ground because having impacted. The move went off, hitting the fighting/steel type, and Lucario recoiled with a grimace of pain as the move hit its mind. However, his mind was otherwise as focused as ever, and turned to glare in Ralia’s direction. From the stance of its feet, it was clear it was going to do another Quick Attack, this one in Ralia’s direction, probably before Ritz could even properly recover from the impact.

Strategy now?

@Pirouette

So, the Gibles around her cheered for they had managed to catch up to her and poked on her, most of them looking like they had somehow accomplished a great victory. Others decided to play the game themselves, choosing another Gible (sometimes not willingly) to suddenly chase, and the Gibles were suddenly chasing one another around the Plateau. The nearby Gabite turned and stared in frowning disbelief, as well as a Gabite can frown, and looked like it was looking for someone to blame for this chaos. That aside.

‘Gible~! Gible~!’ The Gible on her legs was privately celebrating, knowing it was the one who got her first, bouncing from one leg to the other, in both their cases. It then blinked a bit in surprise as it was petted, looking up at Erika as she made her proposition.

‘Gib…?’ It blinked a bit more, showing surprise. Join… her team? Come with her? It had some brief mental images of what that would involve, but it looked over the plateau that had been its life up until now. Did it really want to leave…?

… … … … …

So, time passes and training is done. From Rattatas to Rattatas, Pidgey and Lillipup both became slightly stronger and on par with the rest of Erza's team - still, there was a lot of training to be done if Erza was to become the powerful trainer he sought to be. For now, his pokémon were to get some well-deserved rest - after Lillipup ate the berry it found, though. That'd give it some health back, but it was mostly a reward for finding the berry itself. Pidgey got none because sadly Erza didn't had any to share, maybe Lillipup could find one for it's flying partner later on, right?

After all, the Pidgey deserved a lot after all the effort it went through, spotting the one pokémon Erza had been searching in Route 01 for all this time, the one Pokémon Erza actually wanted to catch with all his heart.

The pokémon was resting beneath a tree but it caught the scent of Erza very quickly, barking and glaring at the trainer as he approached. The pokédex was swiftly brought out and used to identify the pokémon, even though Erza knew it thoroughly. Now, which pokémon he should use? Erza tried to formulate a strategy in his mind, but there wasn't absolutely nothing he could think that would ease this fight.

And so, the boy decided on what was only right, to bring the might of the powerful starter chosen for him into the field and heat of upcoming battle! The pokéball flew in the air, opening and releasing a red flash of light which eventually revealed the shape of the Evolution Pokémon: Eevee! It came out of its pokéball with a content sigh and a very confident grin. Erza spoke:

"Nothing personal, Growlithe! You'll become an important member of my team, aye? Let's begin!" The trainer pointed his right arm forward, hand closed except for the index finger which pointed in the direction of the Puppy Pokémon. "Vee, I'm counting on you! Tail Whip and get ready to avoid its attack!" Alright. Simple and effective in Erza's mind: He wasn't sure of how powerful or high leveled this particular wild pokémon was, so the idea was to test the waters and see if Eevee could hand direct combat before doing anything risky. By wearing its defense down, the Eevee could potentially deliver powerful strikes with Tackle, opening an opportunity for Erza to try catching the wild Growlithe once it was significantly weakened.
