Mr. Tim Biddle, 38

Loyal Newsman
Tim is the newscaster of the Weather, Tunes, and Protestant Radio broadcast. It has been his sole profession and hobby for the latter half of Tim's life, and it is something he takes very seriously. He seldom attends events in town due to the time constraints of WTPR taking place from 6AM to 8PM, though he sends his young son Pat in his place as a de facto reporter. Aside from his passion for radio, Tim has a passion for culinary arts, inherited by a hotel chef father and a nervous-eating mother. He has a wide array of spices in his strangely fertile backyard, and a longstanding friendly relationship with the local butcher. Though Tim is a respected member of the community, much like his show, Tim is a very forgettable, love-or-hate kind of person. The biggest reason for this, aside from the nosiness of his investigative son, is the massive, ugly radio tower he was paid by the Federal Communications Commission to place on his property.

Envious Loser
Tim is a very nice guy, and this is perhaps his biggest flaw. He is an introvert who has built a life around comfortable isolation in a broadcasting room, who comes home in time to get to bed early for the next day's broadcast, taking only Sundays off to spend time with his wife and son. Even then, this relationship is strongly strained -- His wife, who he married when the two were chubby nerds in high school -- has blossomed into a beautiful woman, where Tim has only grown softer and squishier. Furthermore, Tim has strong suspicions that his wife may be cheating on him, and though he has no solid evidence, it is an insecurity that pervades his subconscious as a quiet, gnawing fear. He distracts himself from this fear by putting himself into his radio show, which only holds a meager viewership advantage over the town's competitor with child audiences, something Tim is painfully aware of.

Tammy Biddle - Wife

Tamora Biddle met her husband at her high school science fair. He was the first boy to ever pay attention to her, the only boy to ask her to the school prom, and within a year, the first and only boy to ask her to marry him. Having grown up teased for her glasses, weight, and red hair, she was instantly smitten by Tim's humble but loving personality, and their first years were genuinely happy. Gradually, this changed. Tamora gradually started going by Tammy. Her chunky glasses were replaced by newfangled contact lenses, while Tim's eyesight eventually caused him to don his first pair of glasses. Tammy learned to perm her red hair. Tim grew a bald spot on the back of his head. Tammy wore a corset for years, and became a weekly spectacle of grace at church. Tim gained fourty pounds stress-eating over it.

Patrick Biddle - Son

Pat is Tim's high-pitched, effeminate son who works as a reporter for his father's radio show. Although he has very little interest in being a reporter, it allows him to work on one of his biggest passion; Playing pretend. As Journalist Pat Piddle, an alter-ego he chose for its snappy alliteration, Pat's high-pitched voice becomes that of a high-pitched gumshoe. Aside from his love for doing voices and wearing costumes, Pat is an unexceptionally soft boy who buys dolls with his allowance to dress and groom them, before hiding them under his bed.

Mr. Pete Fairfield, 39

Urbane Coiffeur
Pete is the only barber in town, and a damn good one at that, known to the menfolk of Probity as a nonthreatening, well-manicured wisp of a man. When he comes to the saloon he sits at a candlelit booth instead of the bar, and instead of whiskey, Pete takes gin. He is best described as soft-spoken and sensitive, taking interest in things like poetry, music, theater, and other artistic pursuits. He smokes light cigarettes, and due to a longstanding fear of germs, wears a tight pair of leather gloves almost constantly. His barbershop, Pete's Place, has mirrors lined with blonde centerfolds and end tables stacked with old issues of playboy, with a radio set to the town's smooth jazz station. He performs house calls for ornery children and housewives who don't want to be seen getting their hair cut in a garish men's barbershop decorated with prints of straw-haired bimbos, and can cut women's hair just as well as men's. Despite being the owner of a traditionally masculine space covered with winking women in nightgowns, Pete's fashionable manner of dress, profession, soft features, and being rarely seen with his wife leave most assuming the obvious about him. He was nicknamed "Peter-Puffer-Pete" in high school, a name that has followed him well into adulthood.

Sneaking Lecher
While half of the men in town assume Pete to be a Godless queer, nothing could be further from the truth. Pete has a healthy fear of his own fiery damnation, and is what Mexicans would refer to as a "Sancho" -- A man who waits for another man to go to work before sneaking into his house, making love to his wife, watching his TV, and drinking his beer. Though he garners very little respect from the men of Probity as a hairdresser, it is a well-kept secret among many bored housewives, save for Pete's own wife, that Pete has everything that could be desired from a backdoor man; He is handsome, discrete, efficient, and equipped. Furthermore, the few times he has been caught, he has already prepared the alibi of dropping by for a scheduled haircutting appointment. Pete views the rest of the town with disdain, looking down on the men for their ignorance and outright loathing the women for using him to break their sacred vow.

Jenna Fairfield - Wife

The marriage between Pete and Jenna is about as cold and WASP-y as they get -- Pete proposed in his early twenties to break things off with a clingy ex-girlfriend and finally put an end to rumors about his sexuality, and Jenna accepted because he's reasonably cute. The ex took a hike when she learned of Pete's engagement, but the jokes seemed to stay. Aside from their few, genuinely tender moments of quietly hating their neighbors and having conversations about their days over Jenna's weekly bedroom haircuts, the two are relatively cold. Jenna despises the stain placed on her reputation and public persona by Pete's adultery, and Pete resents her cigarettes, child germs, and the burden of caring for her mother. Speaking of her mother, Pete is essentially the barrier between her and the grave. His naturally doting personality -- and deep-seated need to care for invalid women given to him by his mother -- have unwittingly foiled several of his wife's attempts on her life.

Veronica "Ronnie" Fairfield - Deceased Mother

Veronica Mancuso was born in New York City, where she would foster girlhood dreams of acting with indulgence in the city's bohemian poetry and theater scenes. She would go on to star in a few low budget films and off-Broadway productions, eventually moving to Probity when her career as an actress failed to take off. It was here she would meet Patrick Fairfield, spending a decade with him and her newfound wealth before he was done in by a lifetime of smoking when Petey was just ten. For ten years after, the adolescent Pete would care for his grieving, sick mother before she was taken by lung cancer as well. Aside from giving Pete an odd servant complex, his mother imbued a love of art and fear of germs in him.

Vera Baker - Mother-In-Law

Pete's marriage to Jenna came with one stipulation, and that was her mother moving in. Pete is not especially close to his mother in law, and is still probably closer to her than Jenna.

Miss. Joanne M. Hanson, 23.
Now Adam told to Eve, "Listen here to me, don't you let me catch you messin' round that apple tree."
Oh yeah, ever since the world began a hard headed woman been a thorn in the side of man.

Dedicated Nurse
Joanne was a overachieving student ever since she graced her peers in their elementary years. She was a bright eyed daughter of the Lord, praising her gifts to the man upstairs as she was taught. She continued to grow into a smart young woman and then furthered her journey by pursuing a nursing degree. Between school and the internship job at Probity Elementary School as a nurse her schedule is quite penciled in. When the weekends roll around you can find Joanne cleaning, sewing, or getting her hair prim and proper. Joanne considers herself to be fairly manicured: enjoying her clothes to be pressed, hemmed, and fitting just right. Every time you leave your home you should present yourself with your best face forward. Present yourself to everyone as if they are our Lord and Savior Himself. Sloppy presentation is a definite turn off. She has a keen sense of smell and an eye for small detail.

Impulsive Child Abuser
Filthy vile creatures. Why are children so dirty with their grubby little fingers? The fingers that dig in the dirt and get shoved into every burrow of their body they can get their horrid stubs into? Joanne has had an increasingly hard time adjusting to real life nursing situations versus the textbook presentations she was used to at university. Sometimes a child comes in to her office and oh how she can't help but have a sense of entitlement to cleanse this child from the top of his head to his toes. A bloody nose on the playground turns into an entire sponge bath with hydrogen peroxide. Scraping at layers of skins until it beats red. They need to be clean. They need to be pure. These impulses are becoming frequent while the office visits are becoming less.

Francis Mae Hanson - Mother

Francis is Joanne's mother and closest family member. Franny is a mother of two young adult children. She loves to bake, garden, and clip coupons. The two ladies have always been close but have especially gotten close after Joanne got a job as a nurse at the elementary school that Francis teaches third grade at. The two often share their lunch hours and gossip about things going on at the school and other parts of town. Her mother also likes to harp about her living and marital status, both in which are lacking as far as the Hanson family is concerned.

Joseph Charles Hanson - Older Brother

Joseph, or as Joanne lovingly calls him; Joe. Has been her hero of sorts as the two grew up. Joanne has gone to him with all her troubles and worries in the past. He taught her how to drive, and how to be a strong willed woman that she has became today. They are five years apart. Joe is tall, dark, and handsome with incredible strength and a great taste for American crafted beer and turkey sandwiches. Joe works along side his father as a garage door sales and repairman. While he isn't working he is courting a young woman by the name of Sandra Carlson.

Charles Oscar Hanson - Father

Charles and Joanne do not spend much time together nor do they have a lot of similar hobbies or interests. Charles is a prideful hard worker and pays the bills in an on time and orderly fashion. He hates that both his wife Francis and daughter Joanne have jobs but, he would rather have them working a wholesome job than staying at home being brainless whores. He wants his pride and joy and only son Joseph- to take over the family business and to some day and for him to give it to his son as well. He expects nothing but the best from everyone.

Mrs. Jenna L. Fairfield, 37.

Diligent Teacher

Jenna Lynn Fairfield (née Baker) always had a hunger for knowledge. Even in childhood, one would find the girl upon her father's old, imprinted chair, eyes darting from page to page, eagerly satisfying her learning thirst. An excellent student in school, she was the pupil that her teachers raved about, praised even, and it was in late adolescence did one of her teachers enlighten Jenna to become a teacher herself. At only twenty years old, Jenna became an elementary school teacher, where she taught children twelve and under in various subjects that the Board of Education didn’t find blasphemous. She especially specialized in vigorous Bible studies with her students, enforcing the hand of God upon their young minds and how often they should serve Him.

At the age of twenty-five, she was promoted to teach older students, specifically fifteen and up, and kept her regular curriculum as she would have for the younger children, albeit more lenient.

When Jenna isn't partaking in lectures, keeping watch for cheating scamps, nor having a few bites of the apples her students leave on her desk, she is often found at home that she shared with her husband, Pete Fairfield, where she enjoys preparing home-cooked meals, attempting to catch the next scene of her favorite soap opera in the process, while relaxing with a cigarette (no harm, no foul, what really is tar, anyway?) or two after a long day's work. Due to her seemingly warm goodness, most of the residents in Probity can find her participating of functions within the town; fundraisers, bake sales, but most importantly - church events.

Like many other civilians, Jenna Fairfield is seemingly a woman of God, attending every Sunday sermon or religious broadcast. There has never been a day where the woman will not have a smile spread across her lips and could best be described as gregarious in nature.

Apathetic Sociopath

Children often go through phases, whether it be their choice of style, or questioning their religion (heathens, mostly). Yet it leaves the question as to how long those phases actually last. In Jenna's case, her personal phase lasted into adulthood. It isn't known if the woman was born with a condition such as the one she has, nor if she developed it later in life, but one thing is certainly clear - Jenna Fairfield lacks any form of empathy.

Everything about the woman is nothing more than a facade. She has no interest in the well-being of her students, nor can she stand the sight of them. She does nothing but regurgitate what she is meant to taught, and cares not if they learn anything from it. The fact that she is "blessed" with them during the weekday is an exhaustion of its own, leaving the woman drained by the weekend. As far as she is concerned, teaching is nothing but financial gain, something to keep her bills paid and put food on the table. If it means her own survival, Jenna would do whatever it takes - even if someone is hurt along the way.

She feels no love, no closeness, no sympathy, and cannot fathom the thought of them. She wears a "public skin" during the day, only shedding that off once she is in the comfort of her own home. She has become a master of deception as far as her demeanor goes, but after being accustomed with such an act for so long, it leaves the woman wondering as to how it will affect the only safe space she has. Sleep is the only peace she receives and if she could, she would sleep forever.

Pete Fairfield - Husband.

Eighteen-year-old Jenna Baker became Mrs. Jenna Fairfield under quite an unusual circumstance: a mutual agreement that would favor both she and her husband, Pete. He would grant his mother’s dying wish of an upstanding, Christian wife and refine his questioned sexuality, and Jenna could keep the desire of upholding her public persona. While she does have an understanding with Pete and tender moments with him at home and — most importantly in public, — Jenna does not love the man. The two seemingly work well with a tolerance for the other at best. They both can hold conversation well enough, and the fact that her husband is equipped doesn’t hurt either, to which she finds satisfaction should she ever become in the mood for her own needs.

Speaking of needs, Pete’s adultrey has not gone unnoticed to his wife. Given that she holds no attachment to her husband and cares not who he’s fooling around with, Jenna has often become the brunt of her husband’s alibi when it comes to his adultrey, assisting with getting him out of sticky situations should they arise. One would think that the two are seemingly a team when it comes to surviving in Probity, yet one would be wrong.

Their relationship can turn cold, for Jenna’s disdain for her husband has increased over the years. If careless, Pete has the potential to ruin her public facade, one she tirelessly works for day by day, just because he fancied a doe-eyed neighbor down the street. Jenna desires to avoid gossip and tarnishing of her name at all costs in order to be the perfect embodiment of what a woman of Probity needs to be.

Vera Baker - Mother.

After her no good, two-timing, bastard of a husband left her for another woman while pregnant, Vera Baker has clearly dealt with some hardships throughout her life. A single mother, forced to raise Jenna on her own, Vera had no other choice but to work odd jobs to keep both herself and her daughter fed. The two do not share a close bond as a normal mother and daughter would, and that was all due to the "phase." As much as she tried, Vera could not understand Jenna, which lead her into a spiraling depression. She believed her daughter's odd behavior was punishment from God and would become tormented by Jenna's detachment.

It seemed she would continue to suffer, however, as she became stricken with cancer, leaving no one other than her daughter to care for her in her final years. While in Jenna's care, she became fearful. Jenna keeps the old woman locked away in a room, where she is only allowed to leave should Jenna permit it, and the only form of communication her daughter allows is in the form of a ringing bell; the certain number of rings indicate just what Vera needs. Alone and dying, Vera swears that her daughter has the means to quicken her death, often noticing limited medication, and has even awoken to finding her pillow pressed firmly upon her face (though her daughter informs her that it was only a dream). She understands that her daughter is tactful, logical, and detailed - furthering her suspicions that she will not die of her illness but from her own flesh and blood.

Because of that, Vera often makes the mistake of warning Pete of Jenna’s sociopathic tendencies. Having taken a liking to the young man given his pinch of compassion when it comes to her illness, Vera’s fondness only grows for her son-in-law despite the two not having a close bond. Though she does not voice it to Pete directly, she firmly believes that once she finally succumbs to death, Pete will become the next person for her daughter to torment.

Mr. Daryl J. Goodwin, 30

Your Friendly Neighborhood Butcher

He’s a mild mannered man that would always greet you with a smile and tells you to have a nice day as you leave his shop. Despite the fact that dealing with animal parts gets messy, he definitely puts an emphasis on cleanliness so you probably don’t have to worry about your choice cut’s state. His store also makes sure that you have fresh and quality meat everyday whenever and wherever you may need it. If you’re lucky, you can even catch Mrs. Goodwin, Daryl’s darling but asocial wife, helping around the store when she’s not busy sewing or knitting wonderful clothes and adorable little tapestries. But more often than not, young Jonah tends to man the store when his uncle’s not around.

On special occasions, however, you can approach him for special meat procurement that isn’t the usual pork, beef, or chicken. He’s also a hunter, after all. Had been all his life. Just remember to tell him in advance and he will likely do it for you.

Naughty Little Goodman

He was supposed to be a doctor, that much he knew of himself. But if only his father allowed him to finish what he had started, if only we wasn’t told that is is not smart enough or good enough to know better about someone’s welfare, he would have gotten there. Then there was Glenda’s father... Overall, Daryl generally has a negative perspective towards fathers. That is why he fully believes that he should never father. Ever.

That was why when he got checked months in his marriage with Glenda, Daryl found the wonderful news that he was sterile. Of course, the whole town pitied him for that and never really let him live it down. But being sterile has it perks that Daryl loved to use to his full advantage. Since by the end of the day, catching up with the news in the local bar would be how most men end their day. But drinking isn’t exactly Daryl’s game (not that he would turn down a glass or two and nothing more). Because when he gets home, he knows that his little wife would be ready for him. If she’s willing, she would greet him by welcoming him in and ordering him to keep his eyes closed as she guides him somewhere. There, he would get tied, gagged, and teased till he begs her to fuck him senseless or sometimes it’s the other way around. She’s a wonderful dom, after all; and little Daryl knows that it’s all that he needs in the bottom of his heart. However, if Glenda’s too busy or perhaps too tired to humor him, he wouldn’t mind using a meat or two. Being a butcher means choice cuts after all. Choice cuts means that you get to know which portions of an animal is good for you depending on your… needs.

His extensive knowledge on anatomy and his lifelong experience with hunting makes meat procurement all the more easier as well as an outlet for pent up emotions. Just tell him what you need and/or the specificities of your taste and he’ll get it done for you. No matter how niche, he’s likely done it before. Don’t worry, he won’t tell anyone about your special order if you won’t. But his services come for a price of course.

Glenda - Wife

She’s seems like a quaint and quiet little lady that tends to keep to herself. Even when the other wives around, she still seems to prefer talking to Daryl or Jonah more. She is also a darn good seamstress for hire that loves knitting on her free time. She would make “ugly” sweaters for Daryl and Jonah when winter starts coming around the corner as a jest but Daryl doesn’t really mind wearing what she makes. Jonah on the other hand wishes that he had better sweaters near wintertime that he could show off to his friends.

Glenda spends her days knitting, sewing, reading literature and guide books, and learning different types of textile, threading, and knots to use on any order or given occasion. She’s also really good at threading eyebrows apparently. She’s the secret to the family’s amazingly shaped and maintained brows. Some of her friends would regularly ask for her threading services especially on special events.

Jonah - Nephew

A 14 year-boy that looks taller and older than he should be. He has his biological mother’s blonde hair and (possibly) his father’s freckles. Arguably the Goodwin’s adopted child but Daryl refuses to think so in fear of becoming a father himself. Though people pity him as an unwanted child, The Goodwins still strove to provide him the love, care, and attention that he needed. Jonah feels pangs of jealousy whenever his friends talk about their biological families sometimes. But he likes to think that he’s better off with his aunt and uncle.

Gertrude - Mother

While Daryl desperately clung on to her as a child, he found himself distancing himself more and more from his own mother as he grew. The realization that Gertrude never really tried to protect Daryl from his father’s inebriated wrath became evident the more she refused to do anything about it. He avoids her now but he does send her her sweaters (and old sweaters) that Glenda made for them knowing that she gets cold easily.

Jesse - Mother-in-law (Deceased)

She was essentially a single parent that raised Glenda and her sister. Glenda talks about her fondly and was said to be a great cook. She is the source of most of Glenda’s most tasteful recipies.

Amy - Sister-in-law (Deceased)

Glenda’s older sister and Jonah’s biological mother. Jonah was conceived outside of wedlock after her husband-to-be left her waiting on the altar. Fearful of stigma and terrified of raising a child by herself, she ended up hanging herself on their family’s attic on Jonah’s 3rd birthday. Daryl didn’t like her grating personality, and for leaving a child to fend for himself.

James - Father-in-law (Unknown)

Not really that great of a father, according to Glenda. He would rather do his own thing than deal with his family. He’s usually out so Glenda and her sister at least lived most of their lives without his intervention. Was said to be a hunter of sorts since he usually brought home animal heads to mount on the walls.

Robert - Father

An alcoholic with anger issues. He would lash out at the smallest of things and constantly demanded that everything has to be neat and orderly. One of the main sources of Daryl’s need for cleanliness and order.

Filthy Frank, 18.

Urban Outdoorsman
No one is really sure where he came from. Well, except his parents. No one is really sure whose his parents are. Well, except his parents. However, his parents have clearly never claimed him. And therefore, by default, Filthy Frank has no idea where he came from either. All anyone knows (except for his parents), Frank just kind of rolled like a tumbleweed into town on one of those patriotic 4th of July celebrations and caused some ruckus with the neighborhood kids when the fireworks were painting the sky in America's favorite red, white and blue; and sometime after that, it was made apparent that no one and nothing was going to make this hobo leave town. Frank was here to stay... homeless (and flithy):

Good Samaritans have tried to take him in and show him what a real, good American family is like, but for some strange or bizarre reason, Filthy Frank doesn't seem to have the ability to stick around with the civilized for very long. It is as if he prefers to be homeless and roam the streets like some filthy animal as opposed to living like a sophisticated human being. It is supposed that he is probably just too wild to be tamed, now. Nonetheless, there's a sweet charm to spotting Filthy Frank, sitting and humming on the side of the road offering the women roses that he plucked from [FIXME: sandman9913's Character's Name]'s deceased wife's rose garden. In fact, the town sees him like some sort of tune-caroling mascot. Plus, he usually doesn't cause much of any trouble aside from his foul smell and odd habit of stealing pies from windowsills to feed to the birds at the public park. Sometimes, he causes a riot just to get off the streets during the winter, but it's never something the public truly is shocked to see a Molatto do. It's not like he can magically cleanse his nigger-half because his locks aren't kinky.

Village Idiot
As an Urban Outdoorsman, Filthy Frank has never had a formal education. He is not retarded, but it is clear that his use of the English Language and other social norms is definitely by all means not at all in any way, shape, or form one of his strong suits. In fact, the only suit he does wear has never been cleaned, and no one is really sure what the original color was. Well, except for the person who gave him the coat. However, no one has ever claimed the charitable donation. It assumed that the donation was given to keep Filthy Frank from indecent exposure. Unfortunately, no one has been successful in stopping his public urinating and stools. At least, he keeps to the sides of buildings as opposed to the flower gardens of Probity's lawns, now. Filthy Frank just doesn't know any better, which is why he also makes such a decent punching bag. Having no real legal citizenship or full-white blood to claim his humanity has caused him some great physical pain among the full-bred American men of Probity:

"That's why he refuses to live in-doors! He's not even 3/5th human. He's an abomination of even the nigger race, Sally-dear!" Despite all abominations tied to his DNA, Filthy Frank is anything but the violent type (which makes him all the more easier to abuse), and while he does whimper and sob during and after a good beating, it is not at all surprising to see the hobo bruised and bloodied yet still humming that merry tune while trying to hand out [FIXME: sandman9913's Character's Name]'s deceased wife's rose garden's roses to the women hours later. At heart, he is simply just really a good ole dopey, sappy, romantic bastard, who wants to be loved, and there's nothing Probity can do about that -- except through murder, probably.

Mrs. Charlotte 'Lottie' V. Yates, Age. 31

Achieved Attorney
Lottie is an educated woman-- enough so to know that it's easier for everyone if she hides that fact at every possible juncture. Her degrees in law are hidden from her husband, so as not to harm his ego, her appearance specifically manicured to please him and be in accordance with God's law-- each word she speaks was learned in a session of harsh discipline from her mother, to please everyone else. In many ways, she's the ideal neighbor in Probity-- A perfect blend of adhering to status quo as a religion, and a forceful self-flagellation to suppress any urges to break that status quo. These traits also make her so good at her job, putting away sub-human criminal scum is easy, when you know you're one of God's chosen, and anyone breaking the norm deserves to be punished.

Amoral Adversary
How does someone so clearly superior to all of her peers alleviate the stress of needing to dumb herself down for the sake of pragmatism? Friendly competition, of course. A clever way around bruising any egos, that someone as female, or vaguely ethnic as she, might be better than them-- is competition with the other hens in this chicken coop. Bake sales, bar trivia, friendly bouts of tennis even-- In a haze of wine and her own boredom, Lottie has turned her life into a competition with the other women of Probity. Her greatest competition of all? Her mother-- the ultimate standard for how all women should behave.

Michael G. Yates - Husband

Lottie certainly admires her husband. She thinks, as a man, first and foremost, and a man who enforces the law-- Lottie has nothing but respect and adoration for Michael. At least, this is what she tells herself. In reality, Michael is an alcoholic recluse, and Lottie knows this-- as someone raised on the teat of denial,
she is not the woman to help Michael confront his demons. And so, there is a divide between the two, one Lottie tries to gap by being an obsessive homemaker, and trying to have children she doesn't want.

Ede V. Blanche - Sister

Ede is everything that Lottie despises in this world. Reckless adherence to passion without any regard for her family. Though, on the surface at least, Lottie loves her sister, and wishes nothing but happiness for her.

The Blanche Clan

Her role models for life-- they have achieved everything for their family in probity by winning, where others fail. Lottie seeks to become the perfect heiress for this drive. She considers herself to be the perfect adherent to their rules and harsh teachings.

Ms. Ede V. Blanche, Age. 27

Poetic Part-timer
Forever the black sheep of the Blanche Clan. Ede is a sardonic drop-out with an open taste for art, literature and a failing career as a poetess. Her work, independent of her name, may even be considered "good" by professionals in the field. Unfortunately for her, her name is tar pit of white purity. The Blanches are old Probity incarnate. They saw the construction town's first great church, and they'll be there after the last brick fades to dust. She wasn't able to attend University like her sister-- but, her family connections left her in ownership of Blanche's Basque Bistro, a restaurant specializing in traditional European cuisine. She tends to work very little as the manager, instead letting the employees figure things out for themselves, as she works on her art.

Preoccupied Pill-popper
Ede hides her sadness behind a veil of artistic obsession and prescription drugs. Her family requires her to appear in public, as an eccentric, albeit well off member of society-- the Black sheep of the Blanches, but still a Blanche. This couldn't be further from the truth for Ede-- a woman caught in a constant whirlwind of insecurity, romance, and partying. She's skilled at keeping her drug use from the public eye-- with, of course, more drug use. Who cares if she only showed up to the restaurant twice this week? At least she wasn't red eyed.

Lottie - Sister

Ede's insecurity in a big way, stems from Lottie. She was always the perfect sister, even without the comparison to dysfunctional Ede. It hurts even more that Lottie is Ede's best friend-- she was the only shoulder she could lean on while they were growing up. She loves her sister, and wishes that she wasn't so distant...

The Family

A bunch of conformists and hypocrites, with Ede Blanche herself being the biggest one of them all. The family was always close-- so whenever she got scolded it wasn't just her mother, but every auntie and grandmother as well. Though she hates them, she considers herself an even bigger hypocrite than all of them because she still uses them for money. It's the only reason she hasn't left Probity, she doesn't want to be cut off.

Mr. Michael G. Yates, 30.

Upstanding Deputy
Born and raised in Probity, Mikey Yates has been a deputy of the local sheriff's department for roughly two years, which is to say he cruises around town in a patrol car making sure the local teens don't get up to any mischief and are back home by curfew. He does his job well enough and is generally well liked in the community, though no one could ever accuse him of being a social butterfly. Outside of his uniform Deputy Yates is known to be a happily married if mild mannered man and something of a hero for the local country club, as he'd been enough of a prodigious golfer to earn himself a full scholarship to Ashbridge University before a broken arm and botched recovery robbed him of his childhood passion. He also makes a mean turkey sandwich.

Guilt-ridden Milksop
Seeing as he wasn't going to be joining the PGA tour as he'd trained years for, collecting a government paycheck for wearing a badge in his all but crime free hometown seemed like a decent enough fallback. That was, until officer Yates happened to be on patrol when dispatch reported a bank robbery on Elm street. It was the first violent offense reported in Probity since the Depression. Like usual, Mike took his time arriving on the scene, rightly assuming the perpetrators would be long gone by the time his sirens were in earshot. What he did not assume was that a newly married couple had been making a deposit at the time and were tragically shot down after the husband attempted to disarm the robber. Since then, Mike has become something of a recluse. He spikes his morning coffee with vodka on work days and has turned the local watering hole into a second home during his off hours. That he can occasionally be heard talking to the couple's ghosts is a growing rumor in town.

Or maybe the wife is still around and that can be another source of stress for him. Who knows.

Rebecca Yates - Mother

The only parental figure Michael has ever known, Becky Yates effectively made Michael into the man he is today. The only child of a prominent investor, Rebecca fell in love young and got spurned the moment she wouldn't get an abortion in the winter of 1929. She never remarried, using her inheritance to raise Michael completely by herself, no easy feat in Probity. Certainly a doting and sometimes overbearing woman, it was Rebecca who encouraged Michael to become a police officer after the injury resulting from his car crash caused him to end his promising golf career. She has doubled down on her affectionate nature following her son's traumatic experience at the Elm street bank, but for the first time in history, Michael has not returned her calls.

Mr. Dwight D. Kelly, 40

Exuberant Car Salesman
Dwight had always tried to turn a blind eye to the negative connotations associated with his profession and eventually managed to embrace the role of a salesman with an innovative mindset. What had started out as a necessity to keep food on the table – Dwight had failed to make the grades while in school, leaving him with very few options for a prolific career choice – had quickly evolved into a personal crusade. He became determined to break through the dissenting opinions and persistent stereotypes to make a name for himself. Of course, it didn’t hurt that fast money was always a possibility under the right conditions…and Dwight had a habit of following the money trail. Adopting a cheerful disposition, and with a little patience and perseverance, he was able to connect with his customers through empathy; to reach out and feel as the other fellow does in order to sell him a product. Not only did this garner him respect and trust among his peers, but it allowed him to accumulate a growing list of satisfied customers. He came highly recommended for his knowledge and developed a reputation for being one of the few ‘honest’ salesmen left in the business. If a citizen of Probity wanted a fresh look that would turn heads, they knew to seek out Dwight for a brand new car.

When Dwight is not trying to proffer a potential sale, he is usually at home, sitting beside the radio or before the television cheering on his favorite sports teams. According to his wife, Dotty, the same tired ritual has turned him into quite the sports commentator, something Dwight himself tends to scoff at. In truth, the only commentary he regularly provides is to his son, Greg, who plays for the varsity football team at Probity High. Dwight hopes to one day hear the name of his son over the same radio he obsesses over every day. He is damn proud of his boy and likes to flaunt about that fact while out in public, especially at church on Sunday, where the townsfolk are usually greeted by Dwight’s smiling face and upbeat personality.

Insatiable Egotist
On the flip side, one could not be a successful salesman without a healthy ego, but in Dwight’s case, it is anything but healthy. In fact, it borders on destructive narcissism. His desire to make a sale for his own personal gain contributes to his ‘trophy’ complex, or the need to use material objects to feel more adequate about himself. He has a real fixation over being the first to own all the best and latest gadgets in town to elevate his self-importance, even at the expense of his family’s financial situation. But the real damage occurs at home behind closed doors. Due to his own underachieving childhood and subsequent career, Dwight lives precariously through his son to fulfill his unrealized dreams. He pushes the young man to his limits, often coming across as cruel and unreasonable in what he demands from his boy. At first, Dotty tried to intervene and act as mediator, but she quickly learned to back away and simply go with the flow. While she would never tell another soul, she also falls under the scrutiny of her oppressive husband, something which routinely leads to verbal abuse, but on occasion, it has also turned physical. Dwight never mentions these encounters, and Dotty carries on as if nothing is out of place. After all, isn’t divorce considered the ultimate sin?

Dolores “Dotty” Kelly - Wife

Dolores, or Dotty as she was known around town, is a mild-mannered housewife with a gentle smile and an infectious attitude. She prides herself in being the busy bee who frequently volunteers to organize social gatherings and various church functions around town. Some suspect that she is just another gossip, but in truth, Dotty feels ‘at home’ around other people and excels at catering to their needs. But despite her hospitality, her gaze always seems distant, almost sad...a peculiar notion for someone who is so outgoing. She is also known for her curious fashion sense, most notably the silk scarves around her neck and overcoats of a tasteful design.

Gregory Kelly - Son

Like any typical teenager, Greg values his freedom and prefers the company of his friends over the prevalent shadow of his parents. The soda shop and the vacant lot adjacent to the schoolyard remain popular hangouts for Greg and his buddies. He also holds a solid part-time job at the local thrift store. While he never intentionally tries to cause trouble, Greg still harbors a rebellious streak. This is evident through the many battles he often fights out with his father, who believes that he must attend college on a football scholarship. Being a senior quarterback on the team has its quirks, but he aspires for something better...perhaps political science, or even the military. The day he breaks that news to his father is the day he will leave the house forever. In fact, after he graduates high school, he plans to do just that.

Mr Sean F Brooks, 52

Sanguine Shock Jock
Sean is the host of Probity's Blue Note Network, the popular smooth jazz station that he erected to combat the growing wave of hoodlums bopping to rock and roll. The typical act of a radio station (that is to say, playing music for people to enjoy) is often broken up by medium length speaking segments, where his somewhat popularly controversial opinions are delivered with his signature baritone voice - not too rough, not too smooth. When he's not badmouthing government officials' wives inbetween puffs of his cigar and generous helpings of turkey sandwiches, the good old fashioned mixture of varying brass instruments is the choice selection of many Probity residents. However, even those who just tune in for the music have to admit that Sean is steadily becoming the universal voice for the older generation of residents, who are too afraid of change poisoning their youth to accept anything other than what they're used to.

Pompous Drip
Simply put, being the voice for stubborn bigots who have not yet learned the act of subtlety does not least to a bright future for Sean, and despite all his internal protests he knows it. What people could consider his call to fame, his arrogance and refusal to accept change or invoke it within himself, will be his downfall both career-wise allcceptnd religiously. Was it not Saul that had to renew himself and forget his old ways of arrogance and hatred in order to better serve God? Is a blind path of stubbornness and refusal not a fool's path indeed? Will he help raise his grandkids with the ideal mindset, or will he just end up pushing them away because of their attraction towards all things he finds abhorrent? Even his children have began to keep secrets from him, leaving him tormented with the idea that the very basis of his personality will lead him down to the path to bitter loneliness.

Judith Brooks - Wife

Sean's relationship with his wife of 32 years is a complex and bittersweet one. The two are very obviously not interested in being intimate with each other, though Judith seems to feel the strongest in that regard, but they can reach common ground when it comes to discussing politics and the things Sean dislikes in the world. While it's obviously due to the over three decades of Judith blindly following her husband's political opinions, like a good wife should, it serves for a better experience than the two barely tolerating each other in casual discourse. Whatever spark the two had all those years ago has since withered and fallen apart, much like a whiny flower that does the dishes.
Samuel Brooks - Son

Samuel is quite possibly one of Sean's proudest achievements, aside from his currently flourishing career as a radio host. The boy was raised with the good old values Sean himself was taught, and - at least in Sean's opinion - he's better for it. Happily married with two children and a clearly appreciative wife, Samuel is almost Sean's idealised version of himself, and he makes it apparent by showering his son with praise. While he does critique some of his political views and music tastes, they're all small scratches on the surface of a goddamn shining trophy. He only hopes his son holds him with at least some of the same regard.
Beverly Brooks - Daughter-in-Law

While possessing a fondness towards the shenanigans of rock and roll and the desire to move out of America, there are no major complaints (at least not valid ones) that Sean can throw Beverly's way, so that's enough for him. So long as Samuel is happy with her and she's happy with him, then Sean is willing to stay out of their relationship and give them respect. Just so long as she stops insisting that he comes over for dinner and has to listen to that godawful hooligan radio again.

Mr. Charles J Vermont, 34

Youthful Sheriff
Charlie's age defying face - something he attributes to the turkey sandwiches he eats every morning - is seen often in Probity, shaded underneath the brim of a Stetson as he patrols the streets. One might expect him to be holed up in his office all day, busy with phone calls and paperwork, but he makes an effort to interact with residents of the town and 'leave his rank at the door' most days. His friendly smile and charming small talk are what he's known for, making casual conversation with residents about the weather and how their lives are going. In fact, maybe the sheriff's loveable personality is what compells people to not commit crimes, as he oftentimes reminds people just how little local crime there is. If anything, there's no crime in Probity! Trust him.

Venal Reprobate
Underneath the surface of no crime and smiles all round, Charles fails to meet the 'responsibility' requirements of having power and influence, and instead exploits residents of the town in the form of blackmail and deceit. He finds out someone's murdered a man, knocks on their door, gets ready to arrest them and then gives them a promise; if they cough up money, he'll have a convenient case of selective amnesia and all records of the incident will disappear. Of course, Charlie deals in lesser crimes and sometimes just embarrassing secrets, holding people's privacy and dignity at gunpoint without a care in the world. People will sometimes even approach him first, being so paranoid that they get their skeletons incinerated before they even have a chance to get in the dammed closet. This corruption is obviously a tight knit secret between him and those he exploits, out of fear of the latter having their secrets shared should they breach the confidentiality. Truly he never paid attention in church, as his own bizarre recollection of the Bible has sent him down a dark path indeed.

TBD - Wife

Charles is currently in the ultra meta stage of waiting to be assigned a wife in the form of another player character, and will get back to you when he can formulate an opinion on something other than the dog that's been staring him down for the past hour.
