Hi there! I've been on a module binge recently and one I have always wanted to sink my teeth into is Ravenloft / Curse of Strahd, so to speak. I'm preferably looking for players who have not experienced Barovia's mysteries before, though I'm happy to welcome one or two on board should the situation arise. Feel free to join regardless of whether you're new to D&D or a long time player.

A few things of note:
• Additional races from Unearthed Arcana, Tomb of Beasts and Xanderpanda's guide to everything may be allowed on a case by case basis. Some of them I love, some of them could break Curse of Strahd's setting a bit, so just let me know what you're thinking before polishing off your sheet.

• We'll use 27 point buy to generate level 1 characters. We'll use the in built dice system in RPGuild for player rolls and link them. I would suggest storing your character sheet information on mythweavers or the like, but I can produce a BBCode sheet if you prefer not to.

• Upon character creation and acceptance, each of you will receive a PM from me titled with the rp & character name. Any information your character gains thats unique to you (e.g. a high perception check is rolled, some character-npc interactions or knowledge) will go here.

• Barovia is a dangerous place and somewhat open-ended. It is possible to wander into situations that could kill you. We will be using milestone XP, so retreating or finding alternate solutions to problems to save resources can often be a wise choice.

• I've got a few editions knocking round my noggin so there will be homebrew situations here and there. I'm open to discussion, but when I make a ruling, I do so to keep the game rolling, so please respect that.

• Curse of Strahd includes a character background called The Haunted One you can use, it can be found here.

• There's also a monster hunting kit, which I will allow you to switch into your background if it suits. Here is what it contains.

I think that's everything. I'm looking for a party of 4-5 players ideally.

EDIT: We now have full slots. Any further interest before launch, and I will happily run two versions of the campaign to a max of two groups of 4. Thankyou

Shit, my motherfucking, maiden of the magic melding. I'm more up for this than a baloon given meds by a dodgey doctor in an alleyway. I'll start my sheet soon. Never got a chance to properly put my persona in any DnD before.

Consider me interested. No idea what I'll play, but I usually tailor to fit party composition anyway.

I suppose I should ask how you feel about the Revised Ranger and pairing it up with the Gloomstalker subclass, since at the moment that's when I'm leaning towards most.

@Asura Looking over the version in Xanather's guide now. It looks good to me though I've never had one in the party. I sometimes run different vision rules - without low-light and usually nerfed darkvision distance, particularly in sp00kier campaigns. If anything that should be a good thing for your character, though ;D

(Let me know if you meant UA or something though, I vagulely remember some other ranger-change at some point)

@Cao the Exiled Hell yes I do! I'd love to have your expertise on board <3

We only need 1-2 more players to lock this in. I'm so excited, I've wanted to run Strahd for ages.

That's fine. I like the idea of, since we're starting at level one, having the Ranger adapt to the conditions of the dark, dreary Ravenloft over the first three levels of the game to become the Gloomstalker.

Curse of Strahd?! I love this setting so much, even if my last campaign allowed me to have a rather setting-breaking kobold bard (everyone loves a smol bard as comedic relief), though she was thoroughly frightened by literally everything. Count me in!

Are you allowing Homebrew at all?

@Asura Oooh I really like that idea actually! Having a character that adapts well to Barovia and feels at home there is going to make for a pretty interesting dynamic with the party and when interacting with the peasantry.

@Lauder Sweet, we have enough people to play now! Mind if I shoot you a PM? I'd love to hear about your experiences with the setting.

@Mae

By all means! I’ve played with the setting a few times, so any questions you have I can certainly answer to the best if my ability. Though I’ve never GM’d a game personally.

@Cao the Exiled I homebrew stuff often, when we get an OOC up I'll start collating any changes in one place. Do you mean for character creation or like inventory stuff? I'm very happy with characters starting with a base amount of money and gearing up from there, if people prefer.

I think I might be misunderstanding, can you give me an example of what you mean specifically? What did you have in mind?

Which reminds me -

@ScreenAcne@Asura@Lauder

I'll add this to the first post as well, but there's an extra equipment kit you can buy when gearing up your character. If you pick a background that kind of makes sense with this kit and want to use it, let me know.

Oh, since Revised Ranger came out before Gloom Stalker, can I assume that GS gets extra attack at 5 like the other conclaves outside of Beastmaster do?

@Asura Yep, looks like it's included in the wiki - Is this the Gloomstalker build info you're looking into?

I’m conflicted between playing a wild-magic sorcerer and a barbarian... on the other hand, a Druid sounds like a fun thing to play.

Why must I like every class?
