Maybe. Could also be that Julian, like the dumbass he is, just believes Dandelion wouldn't hurt anyone. Something about 'if you fear something you increase the chance of them turning into what you fear'.

I would say the #1 that informs Dandelion's character is their difficulty communicating; whatever they are, they didn't evolve and develop language as a form of communication naturally, and so expressing themselves with words is difficult for them. The struggle this brings them is the source of their loneliness and isolation on Earth, as much as they like humans they struggle to connect with them.

Woo. Excited to be here and not be squere. Anyway, I do believe I've caught up on the OOC, and I have a vague understanding of what's going on. Because no one can truly grasp the cosmic and infinite nature of shit posting.

And thanks for the wonderful comments last night. Really buttered my biscuit there.

Anyway, seems like we're nailing down a timeline of recruitment. Hana could probably fit in there anywhere, really. What's highly amusing to me is the number of resident aliens/alien technology in the group. Unintentional chaperone powers activate.

I don't know if you'd want to consider or toy with this, but technically Hana's ring should be able to translate alien language. That being said, the frame of reference could always lead to a massive communication barrier. But, it's just something that occurred to me as I was re-reading GL lore and remembering that aspect of their power. Makes sense. Otherwise, they'd really suck at peacekeeping.

That being said, I leave it to you whether or not it'd work.

Hayden is another one of those that I think reasonably could have joined at any time. @Hillan what do you think Julian's thought process was for letting someone so young onto the team?

One angle that I thought of was that Hayden's been around since the early days, but was never technically considered for formal membership. Just kind of turned up on the doorstep and has stuck around since, always finding a way to break back into the compound/base/whatever any time they're kicked out or encouraged to leave.

But I'm totally open to suggestions, don't really have any hard and fast plans.

Here's a question for everyone: how does your character feel about someone so comparatively young being on/adjacent to the team?

@Sep Yeah for sure, I just figure while we're doing this we can nail down what their reactions and initial impressions have been so far. That'll probably inform how Dandy treats them in turn. While they are universally outgoing, if others don't like them Dandy will probably avoid them.

Initially, Gabi found herself slightly terrified of Dandy, and would've probably avoided them a bit if Julian hadn't suggested she try and translate. But in the few sessions they've had together, despite the fact that they've not been successful in being able to linguistically communicate, she's discovered first-hand that they're not the scary monster she first thought they were

I feel Gabi would probably be extremely friendly and motherly to Hayden, due to having dealt with/helped a number of similarly aged people during her time on the streets in Guatemala, but outside of earshot be against them being sent into the field, especially with Julian. I'm aware this would probably seem hypocritical of Gabi though, given she's one of the younger members of the team herself.

I imagine Hayden's allowed /on/ the team, but Julian, and probably some of the others, will be really protective of them in a probably obnoxious way to Hayden. So she might just be forced to be sidelined with Julian for most of the fighting.
