[OOC] Dreaming Together With You - A Fading Memory Experiment

Prefacing this, Toby is the kind of character who when approached first by anyone for any reason, will probably be pretty clingy and attached. Very, very low standards in terms of relationships and friendships for her. So any one of the other characters could conceivably become a very close friend to her quite easily.

Considering that:

@psych0pomp : I think with Toby and Ambrose, Toby would appreciate his earnestness and compassion a lot, and I could easily see him helping her through her emotional issues.

@Teyao : Interestingly, William and Toby are both 15, being the youngest in the group. I think it would be interesting if they were friends to some degree, though their personalities are quite contrasting - one could say they complement each other?

@Jumbus : Toby and Rowan are quite similar in their anxiety and desire to live up to expectations. The difference I’d say is that Rowan is more capable of actually reaching those expectations, and has somw coping mechanisms. Maybe she could share in these with Toby?

@SilverPaw: Toby would definitely find Damon interesting and be generally friendly towards him, though I don’t think they would be friends right off the bat, unless he made the first move. She’d relate strongly to his desire to be liked and appreciated.

@webboysurf: Nathanial would probably intimidate Toby quite a bit.

@Cassette: Not sure with this one sadly. Maybe Toby and Elias could bond over being raised by single parents.

@webboysurf: Nathanial would probably intimidate Toby quite a bit.

Most definitely fair on Toby's part. I think Nathaniel definitely sees Toby as one of the best among the underclassmen, but is far too blunt and socially unaware to ever break through that intimidating first impression. I think if they ever sat down and just talked they might be people who could get along well enough. But getting the two to sit down and talk might be a challenge.

@webboysurf Nathaniel Westmoreland: Honestly, probably the only person (so far) that Ambrose just wouldn't like. They are the exact opposite in regard to personality, and it probably frustrates Ambrose because he can't seem to find a connecting point with Nate. So, he probably gets testier about Nate's honest remarks than he would otherwise. He wouldn't bring up Nate's background, but he would probably say something condescending like "manners are free, you know." How does that sound?

Absolutely, yes. I think Ambrose probably has to know Nate's twin brother, and might get along great with him. But Nate is the polar opposite of someone like Ambrose. Despite that, I don't think Nate fully understands that Ambrose doesn't like him. His response to some ckmment about his manners would probably just elicit a sort of incredulous "Well I don't know who would be charging for manners." But yeah, Ambrose and Nate are just operating on completely different wavelengths... and honestly, I'm excited to see the interactions as a result. I think there's room for either some good tension or comedic relief in how they interact in a larger social setting.

If anyone dislikes my portrayal of their character or how the silly little intro I felt like writing up flows just let me know, I was just having fun with it.

That would make sense. Ambrose's mother probably hosted a small fundraiser or awareness banquet and managed to rope in the founding families that wished to come. There was an unspoken rivalry there. Ambrose and Damon would have definitely run into each other, but the rivalry doesn't transfer over to their children. Just like "oh hey, a kid my age and generally close to my status... neat."

Maybe they have that sort of friendship that has verbal jabs. To give up the appearance that the families don't really care for each other, but it's all in good fun.

Well, he'd definitely reciprocate friendliness. Maybe he'd be kinda like 'oh, you're my fan?' and try to show off (possibly just to annoy her cousin Audrey at first, haha), and maybe something more could develop from that eventually (which we can leave for the IC).

Aaand now for those I've not yet got to previously.

@Teyao They could have done a thing here or there together. Possibly a 'yup, can be fun to do things with him' relationship.

@King Cosmos Would relate to her ambition for sure. Also, obligatory social media buds. Might invite himself alongside on her and Will's adventures when the mood strikes.

@Cassette At the very least, he would have got acquainted with Elias to spite his father (who's recently fairly averse to outsiders in general). Pretty sure he'd be (secretly) jealous of Elias' relationship with his father, though, so he'd likely keep a bit of the metaphorical distance.

That definitely sounds good to me. Nate definitely views Damon's passion as positive, and shares a kinship over that. Nate would probably pay back any "social awareness" work offered with both honest criticism regarding Damon's performances, helping him run lines, and providing academic support. Based on their aspirations, Damon seems like he might be the person Nate would value most in New Hope.

@Jumbus location Agnostic; weird things can happen around New Hope, go crazy with it. There’s mountains, rivers, a lake, nearby forest- even an ocean and a city conveniently within ‘traveling distance’ via ‘traveling for a day to a train station then taking the train’ or whatever, etc. most of the ‘outside New Hope’ bits are off-screen for our purposes, but it’s a typical ‘anywhere it needs to be’ anime town. I do not wish to place it anywhere concrete or ever mention anywhere real ever lmao. If that’s a cop-out my bad, but I’m focusing on what’s right in front of us for this one.
