I've just realized that in all the 9 years I've been part of this site, I've never had to change my name, make an alt account or anything like that!

"Humanity takes great pride in three things. Their willpower, their greed and their mortality.

Their will and endless greed allows them to grow and ascend past other creatures
But their mortality denies them divinity

It's a delightful purgatory between being Fallen and being Divine"

I am very interested! Especially the part about both magic and monsters being a 'concept', separate from reality. It's a really interesting idea!

Interrupting his thoughts, Gennar's voice drew Mikhail's attention as he spoke after he heard what Xandar had to say. Even though he wasn't talking directly to him, Mikhail couldn't ignore the fact that they indeed had to start packing their things. Their position was already known there and it would be the best for them to find a new hideout, at least for now.
When Gennar mentioned taking the prisoners to Bellinar's room, Mikhail turned to him and the rest of the group.

"Let me take care of them. They still might have some information to tell us. No matter how small it may be." he finished, approaching Gennar.

"I only ask you to not let anyone enter the room without knocking first. Especially Fatima, do not let her enter at all. In fact, It would be best for her to remain oblivious of what will happen inside it. That said, I will try to not kill them as I know that Faeril might be able to take information out of them that I wouldn't be able to by using her techniques. I know she is exhausted, but if she is feeling better after resting..." Mikhail said, in a lower voice to him. Being clear of what he was planning to do with the prisoners.

"My only possessions are that which I'm able to carry with myself, so I am ready to go whenever you all are. Traitor or not, I would recommend us to not stay longer than the necessary here. It is a fact that our enemies do have a worrying amount of information regarding our movements. By staying here we are exactly where they want us to be." Mikhail finished.

"I'm Mikhail, by the way. Just Mikhail." he said, turning to the unknown ally who had presented himself as Jandar Varan. If he was going to 'work' with him, or at least close to him, he needed to know Mikhail's name.

Ayita nodded with a determination as she heard Cade's words when he mentioned they were a team. Ayita knew very well what exactly meant saying someone was a part of their tribe and clan. It was more than just being companions on a trip. She wasn't just a stranger or an outsider, she was a warrior, just as Cade and his words meant that now they would stand side by side.

"Side by side, from a warrior to another." Ayita said, looking to cade with a serious expression.

As he began working on the hare using his claws, Ayita began eating one of the fruits she had picked previously. It was completely different from the fruits she had back in her world, but it was tasty nonetheless. Juicy and sweet it had a curious, but pleasant flavor. Being careful to not spill the juices all over herself, she continued eating as she watched Cade licking his paws once he was done with the hare. Finishing doing it, he got one of the fruits and bit it. Even though he tried to hide, Ayita did realize that it probably wasn't something he enjoyed eating, since he was a carnivore. It simply was too different from meat for him to enjoy it.

"Two tomahawks or one tomahawk and a large hunting knife would be more than enough." Ayita said, nodding as she silently thanked him.

The second Cade handed his halberd to her though, she looked at him with a surprised expression. Even though she had no idea of how important that weapon was for him, she did knew it held some type of emotional value, due to how careful he was with it, always carrying it and maintaining his weapon. For a warrior to lend his weapon to another person, it meant a gesture of extreme trust.
Knowing that, even though she wasn't really accustomed in wielding such a large weapon, she accepted nonetheless.

"Thank you." she said. Even though her words were few, her eyes did say much more to Cade. Not only respect, but trust and a silent promise that she wouldn't betray him nor the expectations he was putting into her.

Before Ayita could even grab the halberd though, she had a really unpleasant surprise, a huge dragon skeleton flying above the forest immediately made Ayita assume an alert posture when his skeletal body casted a large shadow above the trees and his loud roar echoed through the trees. Not only his size was enormous, but the way he was circling and flying above the forest made it clear he was searching for something. The second it turned back to where Ayita and Cade were though, it was clear that it had found what it was searching for.

"Above!" Ayita said, warning Cade as she Quickly grabbed Cade's hand, dashing and running to the treeline, towards a particularly thick tree.

Without even looking back, she ran as fast as she could, trying to get behind the tree before the dracolich's attack got them. Even though she would probably be able to avoid being scorched if she hid behind the tree, it was undeniable that the entire part of the forest they were would become a flaming inferno in no time. They had to think on how to escape quickly...

The white creature watched curiously as Haley extended her wings to compare their colors to the flower she had just given Ozzy, smiling to them shortly after. As Haley continued talking, she looked at her and then to the flowers when she mentioned their names. Much to Haley's surprise, the white creature did understand what she was trying to say, to a certain extent of course. Even though she was a bit confused a while ago, when Ozzy made the hand motions a while ago, she became aware they were talking about names.

That said, since she never had a 'name', she didn't know what to think nor which one to choose. As such, that choise would be left for them. When Ozzy called her Ada, thanking for the flowers, she smiled in return. She was fine with having any name, as she didn't know the importance they had. As long as Ozzy and Haley could communicate with her, she was happy.

When Ozzy came closer to her, hugging her, she stood completely still, not knowing how to react or respond to the hug. She knew it was a demonstration of affect, but it was the first time someone hugged her. There were a few times that she woke up on the forest just to realize that a small animal was using her tail to protect itself from the cold night, but it was nothing like a hug. When he let go of her, she smiled at him with a kind expression.

As Ozzy started flying low to the ground, the white creature, whom now apparently was named 'Ada', knew what he wanted and followed him. Even though Ozzy and Haley could fly, they would soon realize that Ada was easily able to follow them on ground due to her speed. She also apparently had quite a lot of energy, so the trip back wouldn't take long.

Ayita watched as Cade arrived from hunting, carrying a surprisingly large hare over his shoulder, waving to him with a nod, she jumped down from the branch with an agile motion. She didn't know if Cade could eat fruits as well, but they now had enough food for both of them. Just as Cade said, it would be really good for them to regain their strength before they decided to do anything else. When he mentioned going to the village in order to get her some weapons, she nodded agreeing with him.

"I'm able to defend myself but... Having weapons is always good. Especially since I don't really know what to expect. I know almost nothing regarding this world after all." She said, with a smile and a nod.

"After that, we should probably start thinking better about what we will do. We need allies. Even though there is now a price for my head, we still need allies..." she said, thinking as Cade started gathering some sticks and wood to burn.

"Let me handle the fire, you're already doing too much for me." Ayita said.

"That and... To be honest, doing nothing and just standing still makes me nervous, it always did." Ayita said, as she got a few stones on the ground and started making a circle, where they would make the fire.

"While you're going to the village, I should probably do something as well. I will scout the area just a little bit. I should be able to spot any strange tracks or signs that there was someone here. People very often move themselves way differently than wild animals do. They leave tracks, small things that are often overlooked by most people." Ayita said with a determined expression.

Even though Cade probably knew that part of the reason why she was suggesting that was just so she had an excuse to not stay at the same place doing nothing and waiting for his return, he could also see by her words that she knew what she was talking about.

Maeve looked at Valia with a gentle smile, she seemed to be a kind and gentle woman. The second she mentioned Allard's stories Maeve looked at the large innkeeper with a surprised and curious smile. Maeve would certainly like to hear them sometime. When Allard replied, saying that he would be more than glad to share them, pointing the armor which was on a display and Maeve had completely missed.

"I had completely missed it! I would love to hear your stories!" Maeve said, with a smile towards Allard.

"Even though I wont be able to help with the searching party, I see that I wont be bored hearing some good and interesting stories!" she said with a giggle.

When Valia mentioned the scorching sun, Maeve nodded, understanding what she meant.

"Indeed... I am afraid it is already hard enough for me to walk outside the town right now. I don't believe I would be able to handle the desert heat." She said, with a chuckle.

While it was still tolerable inside the inn, she had felt the heat outside and even if she wanted to help, Maeve knew she would probably need someone to take care and help her instead. Still, there was a lot of things to do in town and she knew she would be distracted for a decent while with both Valia and Allard's stories. She was honestly glad she was able to meet kind people such as them, after all, she was not just an outsider, but she knew nothing about Kalla.

"I'm glad you accepted my offer! I'm Maeve Orzhov." she said, presenting herself.

"I would love to watch one of your performances. I mean... A normal one, of course." Maeve said, with a giggle.

"I do believe Kalla's traditional dances must be completely different from the ones we have back home." she said, with a kind smile.

Mikhail was honestly surprised with Xandar's speech as he approached the man but he simply kept silent as he heard him. The second he passed the note towards him, explaining what it had written in it, it became clear that he was correct. All that situation, everything that happened was too much of a coincidence and that note made everything clear. It was a planned attack, they knew that Faeril was out, sent a distraction to keep them busy while the others went after Faeril herself. Silently cursing himself for not taking his instincts more seriously, Mikhail's eyes were almost burning the note as he read it.

"Fighting against you would be counterproductive." he said in a cold, calculating tone as he looked back to Xandar without changing his expression.

"While we do have similar goals, your hostile, volatile and violent behavior put mine into risk. Eliminating you would be a waste of my time and effort. While it would eliminate a rogue, potentially dangerous variable in my plans, it wouldn't help to handle the current situation and it would exhaust valuable resources and energy." Mikhail continued, his voice was cold, but far from a threat.

"I don't need you to like me or to respect me. I need you to think before you act or say anything. As long as we stay out of each other's path and do not obstruct each other's goals, we should be fine." Mikhail finished as Xandar was about to leave.

As he put his hand on Mikhail's shoulder though, Mikhail's muscles tensed up for a moment as he had to control his reflexes. It was still far too early for him to act so friendly towards Mikhail. Not only that but touching Mikhail when he is in a state of alert was honestly, a dangerous thing to do due to his reflexes as an assassin.

Truth be told, Mikhail was a bit relieved by what Xandar said. Not having to worry about him would make things much better for himself. That said... Having read the note Xandar found, he knew that they would have a really hard time facing the queen who was after Faeril. She was cunning, had vast power and knew how to use it. It would be problematic to deal with her, even more knowing that the group was far from organized. Still... Mikhail still had a few plans in mind... But for them to work, he would need time and planning.

With the entire conversation finished, Mikhail slowly walked towards the Eyrien warriors who were still alive. He knew that it would be highly unlikely that they had any information other than what he already knew, but it was still worth the try.

As he walked, anyone who looked at his face would realize that, unlike before, his expression was completely devoid of any emotion. It was cold and empty, his mind filled with thoughts. He was sure that the queen wouldn't give up with just that. That planned attack was more than enough proof for Mikhail to know that she knew how to plan and wasn't the crude type just to use raw force.

Judging by Cade's expression and reactions to Ayita's own words, it became clear to her that unfortunately, there were some aspects were her world and his were very similar. Despite the whole situation and the unfortunate similarity between their worlds, Cade's words when he said that they could try to ask the Elves for them to bring the rest of Ayita's people there was comforting. If they were alive... It was, nonetheless, a good thought. That said, Ayita knew it wasn't time for her to think about that yet.

Returning to the matter regarding food and hunting, Cade teased after Ayita mentioned she didn't have weapons to hunt, showing her his claws. As a beastman, Ayita figured out it wouldn't be hard for him to hunt something for them. Still, she felt a bit bad relying that much on him. She was a warrior, a huntress yet, she was being taken care of without being able to do anything in return. Still, there wasn't much Ayita could do at the moment so she simply smiled at Cade's teasing.

"It is a bit embarrassing, but I'll be counting on you then." Ayita said with a smile.

"I do know how to use a bow, but I always preferred to use tomahawk both for combat and hunting." Ayita said as they walked through the forest.

Arriving on a fresh water stream, they started unpacking their things, or better... Cade did, resting his halberd in one of the trees before he went hunting for something. After he went, Ayita focused on the task she was given. Quickly spotting the fruits that Cade had pointed previously, Ayita climbed the tree with an agile and fluid motion, without any difficulty as she started grabbing the fruits and putting them on the ground before she went up to grab some more. The moment Cade came back, he would find Ayita simply sitting on one of the tree's branches, taking small bites on one of the fruits as she waited for Cade to return. Just below her, nearby the tree, there were a few fruits she got. Apparently, she was waiting for Cade to return before eating.
