Let me properly introduce myself. I am Sir Spud the Fourth, and I have been a potato for the longest time ever. I never denied it to be completely honest, but it is only recently that I embraced it. Now I have evolved from a simple couch potato to a fully grown royal potato. A dapper kawaii potato. And I dare say, knowing that you are a spud, makes life a lot easier. Just chill and let everyone else care about all their meaningless things because at the end of the day you'll know: chilling is the way to go.
I try to spend minimal effort on things that I don't care about, and procrastination might as well be my middle name. But that doesn't mean I ONLY rest. Sometimes a 'tato gotta do what a 'tato gotta do. And if that something happens to be things I like, then you cannot find anyone better than me. I am an omnipotent being capable of virtually any task to a limited degree, and I am not shy to admit it. I may not be the MOST AWESOMEST in a thing, but I am sure as hell MORE AWESOMEST than most people are at everything. But hey, I'm not here to brag, even if I am probabaly better at it than you
THE DREAMER:
All those nights laying in my couch, I thought about the cool shit that I cannot do. That I cannot see. But I pictured them in front of myself like they were real, and that infuraited me. Then I found the Guild, and I lived happily after. I have been on the site for 2 years now, and I have seen many RPs, and played with many people. I wish I have found the site earlier, but I am glad that I've even found it. Now all those fantasies can be written down and my mind can rest at ease at night, without being constantly troubled by ideas.
When I RP, I love myself some good Sci-Fi or Fantasy. But hey I am filthy casual, I can go for anything with an interesting setting. I don't trouble myself on small details if the plot is good, but if you get somwthing wrong you can expect me to tell you about it. Some even go as far as to think that I am angry or something, but I am too chill for that. If anything I'm more of the funny type, so you can expect me to try and write some shitty jokes or post memes I found on the internet. Anyways, you'll see what I mean when we RP together.
THE ARTIST:
Used to be something else here, but I'm happy to say that it's replaced because of a positive change. I now work as a full-time 3D artist in the animation industry, churning out shot after shot for some of your favorite game intros and trailers. Can't say anything about them before you even ask, and even though I'm still new to the industry I love it and I already know that this will be my passion for a long time. So hopefully in a few years I'll have a proud portfolio of animations that were done by yours truly that I can show off to all the lovely people of the guild.
THE LOVER OF STUFF:
Now I may have hobbies like the above mentioned, but there are some more things that I love in life. Here is a handy list of things you can always talk about with me:
Gaming: This one I am quite proud of, I'm a serious gamer with capital G. Not as much time for it nowadays, but still true.
Music: All kinds of electronic music, but I am a sucker for Queen and Powerwolf. Or Breakbot... anything music.
Anime: We all have an Otaku in us, but it's bigger for some people. For me it's just big enough.
WORDS OF WISDOM:
Be chill folks, getting fed up about stuff is a recipe for disaster. You gotta learn to be patient and let things go, or you'll end up a wrinkly old man/woman with only bad memories about life. Even if you do fuck-all every day, you can live a content life by taking things easy. With that said, as always, stay safe and stay classy.
"5 ships, approaching from 241, range 15 nautical miles." The Hawk buzzed silently as it soar through the air, making it's final perimeter scan around the gathering point before venturing into the unknown. The 360 camera under it's belly actively scanning the surroundings for any hostilities. "Looks like merchant ships, cargo haulers." Even now, with so many ships converged at one point, one cannot be sure that nobody will be foolish enough to attempt something. "Radar signature matches, all clear." But most of the ships were simple merchants or settlers, gathering to the gate either to make profit or hope for a better tomorrow. The last several days saw a massive amounts of merchant ships gather around the islands and set up shops or services. "Copy that, Hawk is returning to the nest, Eta 15 minutes. Over."
The drone swooshed to the left at a sharp angle, casting a meager shadow at the water below it. There was nothing to see here anymore. It will return to base to be refueled and refitted, so that it may rise to the skies once again in an unknown world.
Some time later
The Pelorus Jack stood half empty. Most of the crew left for the sialnds to engage in social activities before they would sail off again and never to set foot on land for months. Only the maintenance crew and the old sailors stayed aboard, prepping the Jack for her trip through the gate. The Orca was being prepared for possible engagements and manned by a skeleton crew, and the support ships were busy doing the last harvest and creating meals for several days in advance.
Only the bridge of the Jack stood in silence. The captain, Gregory and Lise sat in the faintly illuminated room, each with a beer in hand. The radio was turned on, but all other non essential devices were shut down for power conservation. The device spouted propaganda and lies that came from the mouth of an untrustworthy man. Nothing will ever change the lies that have been told to the meager men for centuries, yet these words felt more bitter than ever in face of the future and past.
The Jack and her crew saw a lot of cruelty and despair during the Long Fare, a lot of them things they'd rather forget. The world saw to it that the people suffered more than their fair share, and no amount of gilded lies will change that. Governments failed not once, but twice, and there would be no more lost love for those in power. Not from the people like the Jack and her crew.
The old cruiser carries stood out from the rest of the ships. It wasn't a supercarrier or a battleship, but it was the best of both worlds. Most other ships were repurposed merchant vessel, but several other warships had also gathered around. It was obvious that several others factions abided to the same principles as the Mare Delfino.
Antonovich looked out the window with a thousand year gaze in his eyes, focusing on the structure of the massive gate. "Do you see these people gathered before us?" The other two peered towards him, unsure what to think of the question. "Aye, I see those good fer nuffins. What 'bout em?" Gregory replied in his usual blunt tone while Lise rolled her eyes and took a sip of her beer. The captain, still gazing out the bridge, followed his line of questioning. "Do you know what connects all of the together? Hope." The other two looked at each other confused. Sure, they understood the notion, but not where this line of thinking was going to end up. "But we are different. We didn't come here because we had nowhere else to go. We came here for the possibilites. Those gathered before us are the meak, the sheep, and we are the wolves." Lise nod, but Gregory was still confused and he looked at the captain. "Excuse me asking cap'n, but what the friggin hell da ye mean?" The captain finall turned towards his subordinates and pointed out the window. "Examined the other Gregory. Some are not as they appear. Wolf in sheep's clothing, ready to prey upon them as we will. Which ships do you think will be one of these wolves?"
Gregory scratched his head and leant forward. "Well fuck me if I know. Let me see." He peeked out the blast windows and examined the ships. His first pick was the S. S. Hope. "That there, the UNE bastard and 'im ship." The captain nod and Gregory continued his search. "That battleship over yonder. Mighty fine vessel, I'd have 'er babies." Lise chuckled at the notion, almost spillnig her beer, and even the captain smiled. "We'll see about them. Those Atlantis folks might not be so different from us ye know."
As they sat there in the bridge, the crew of the Jack slowly returned to the ship. The soldiers were rested and ready to go, and the ship was ready to sail out into the great beyond. Gregory soon left the bridge for the maintenance deck as chief engineer. Lise left not long after that to tend to her soldiers and the other parts of the ship. Meanwhile the bridge crew tirckled in one after the other, and the captain readied the fleet for go via the radio. There was nothing left to do apart from waiting for the fleet to make their way across the gate.
When Thobias reappered on the roof, he expected absolute chaos. His expectations weren't met however: instead of what he hoped was the captains battling it out, it was just some demons flying around, harassing the other three. Well, until they arrived, that is.
The small group quickly disperesed, and Thobias decided to stick with the only person he figured could be, if not entirely safe, a helpful asset in the battle: Kath. Cassius seemed to get the same idea, but he wasn't as lucky as the other two. Soon after arriving, two demons noted the slightly injured look of the boy and decided that he was easy prey. Thobias didn't intervene and instead decided to stay out of the way before he gets hurt for someone he hardly knows.
His expectations were completely demolished this time around. Cassius proved to be more than what the two demons could chew. At first it looked like he would fall without much effort as the flame pilalr engulfed him, and Thobias wanted to turn away instead of looknig at the boy getting whopped. "Ouch." He was sure that Cassius will meet his end here on the roof as the demon closed in for a finisher. He was readying his teleport to get him to safety when Cassius lashed out, his explosvie fire burst hammering the attacking demon straight into the other one, their bodies flying across the roof and landing in a pile. Before they had time to react Cassius made quick work of them with a series of explosions.
Awe struck, Thobias felt like he lost his jaws somewhere. He used his elbow to get the attention of Kath, but he kept his eyes on Cassius. "Oh snap, look at him go." He turned to Kath, seeing a similarly surprised expression on her face. "Damn Kath, when did your boytoy get so tough?"
Kath expected a snarky remark, but Thobias calling Cassius her boytoy was too much. Not only was it rude, Kath kinda felt that it was somehow true. Her face became red with blush and she lashed out at Thobias with a quick jab. She knew she'd never hit him, but it would at least make him go away. Hopefully. "Boytoy my ass! Go and annoy someone else you punk!"
With a smile on his face, Thobias teleported away before Kath could hit him. He did a small bow before her, gimmicking what he had seen at the Abigail dinners a long time ago. "As you wis-"
There is just something about the sound of cracking metal that makes people turn their heads. Maybe it is connected to our notion of strength regarding the metal, instinctively turning around to see what could damage such a hardy material. Kath turned her attention from Cassius towards the flying Bak, and so did Thobias, still bent over in his bow. There wasn't much time to react as the 300 pound projectile of their ally's body came crashing towards them.
Thobias was the first to react, to no one's surprise, and he teleported away while still in his previous postion. He appeared next to Rurik who was emptying his bowels at the present date. Thought he was interested to see whether Kath could deal with Bak's flying body or not, he turned to Rurik to give his buddy some relief. He palced his hand on Rurik's back and pat it a few times. "You okay buddy? You know, everybody gets nauseous the first few times. It'll get better over time."
Meanwhile, Kath wasn't doing so hot. Both literally and figuratively. She and Chrisitne were straight in the crosshair of Bak's trajectory. "Oh fuck..." Kath felt more and more like today wasn't her day. She felt heat build up in her as she raised her ahnds to the sky to guard against Bak, but it didn't feel like it was enough. It was a matter of seconds until she'd hit the ground, but the impact was likely to make them all fall at least one floor down. There was nowhere to dodge. "Fuck, fuck, FUCK!" kath glanced over at Christine, and she felt a spark ignite deep within here.
She had to keep her sister safe. Heat rushed through her body, and her raised palms erupted in flames. This is new She didn't think twice about it as Bak was just about to crash into her. "STOOOOOOOOOOOP!" She roared as she raised her hands ever higher, ready to defend herself and Christine from the falling Bak.
The moment of the impact found Kath rethinking her decision, but she knew it couldn't be changed. Then her hands caught Bak, and she seemed so...light? There was a thunderous sound as if metal hit metal, but she was just fine. Kath definitely felt the force of the impact: her body shook and was pushed back a feet or two, and the concrete ceiling cracked under her foot as Bak's momentum passed through her. Still, there was no shattering of bones or any other injuries. There was however a flaming inferno engulfing her, thought slowly fading away as she extered less and less force, until stopping Bak completely.
"What just happened?" Kath asked out loud, not to anyone in particular. She felt her body engulfed in a heat never before felt. It was so much more intense than anything she had felt before. She saw her hands glow in a pure yellow light, the air around her vibrate as it cooled her body. But most of all, she felt so light and powerful. The flames that engulfed her had died down, apart from around her hand, but she felt her clothes melting away from around her.
Wait, her clothes were getting burned down. Shit, shit, shit! The realization quickly snapped her out of her tranced state, and she just realised that she had been holding Bak upside down above herself for several seconds now. "Uh, hi?" She looked at Bak and tried to smile but it ended up as a horrible mix of a grimace and a smirk.
Thobias just now peeked over to see what had happened, as the loud sound of metal crashing got his attention. As he turned around, he saw Kath holding up Bak aove herself like he'd hold an umbrella in rain. "Rurik? I'm on the opinion that you shouldn't tell others which girls to date, buuuuuut....." He had never seen Kath so powerful before. Never this luminous either. This nude? Eh, close second.
Time seemed to stop for Kath as she observed the battlefield around herself. With her newfound strength came speed that was still mind boggling to her. Then she noticed Cassius as he was getting approached by one of the demons that attacked Bak before. She almost dropped Bak and ran to help, but then she got an excellent idea.
"Hey ugly! Catch!" Kath leaned forward and gripped Bak strongly. She felt her ahnds surging with power, and sped up Bak towards the demon. She put all her might into the throw, her entire body turning around on her foot as the momentum of her arms still carried so much energy. She ahd to admit, she liked this new power. Bak felt no heavier than throwing something away with the weight of 20-30 pounds, yet she was closer to 200-300 pounds in reality. And oh, how she flew! Like a majestic eagle soaring the sky, with speed beyond comprehension! She really put all her strength into that throw, and Bak was flying usntoppably towards the demon near Cassius.
For the second time today, Thobias's jaws dropped to the floor as he examined Kath throw Bak away like she was nothing. There was so much energy in the throw that he felt a breeze run along his hair as Bak soared towards the demon. He turned to Rurik with a concerned face, ready to give him a heart to heart. "Rurik, can we discuss your relationship status?"
Kath hugged Christine when she approached her. Yes, she really needed that. Sometimes even the thoughest girls and boys need some soft touches. Then she looked around and noticed the rest of people around her. She pat her sister on the back and then leaned away. This is my happy place It really wasn't, but rehearsing that sentence in her mind helped. She was just about to confront Bak and Rurik when Cassius made his...grand entrance?
Kath was kind of furious that Cassius made a fool of himself, but he appreciated her firebuddy's efforts to free her. Not like it meant a lot. It was the proposal of the Mephisto students that would "free" her. Not like that mean a lot either. "Yeah, no, fuck you Rurik. Whether you call truce or not doesn't change the fact that I'll try to beat your ass up." She let a long sigh out and looked at Christine. "Buuut, I'm willing to momentarily cease hostile actions." She turned back to Rurik and pointed straight at him. "But only until we get out of here, then I'll put the crosshair back on your head." With that she stood up and dusted off her clothing. Well, the resemblance of her outfit at least, as there were many small holes in her attire caused by her uncontrollable fire. Great, just what I needed. But I guess I'll have to endure for now.
She examined Bak, covered in dust, and wondered what event could lead to someone becoming such an... abomination? Not like Kath didn't like the girl, aside from pointing guns at her, Bak seemed to be pretty well mannered compared to some other Mephisto students in the room. Still, one can only wonder...
Then there was Thobias. God, she couldn't stand being with that jerk, not since they - No, that's a story for another time. Kath took a depp breath and nod towards the boy, quelling the memories that were surfacing. She already had enough of them in whatever wonderlands she was in her dream. She'll just have to endure the boy's presence without flipping out, or worse.
She waved for Cassius to closer and she faced the boy with a faint blush. Her voice was quieter when she spoke, not wanting the others to hear about her freak out. Just in case they didn't already know. "I'm sorry about earlier Cassius, I don't know what happened. I lost control of myself, couldn't maintain my temper. Firebuddies?" She raised her hand between teh two of them for a brofist.
As impressive as it was that Kath woke up, it would just further complicate the matters. She liked Kath and everything, but her temper was something he couldn't handle. Honestly, he didn't beleive anyone could. "Yeah, go team 'Mutual Grievances'!" He cleared his throat and adressed the other Mephisto students. "Now that everyone is happy, we should REALLY go up there. Of course, let me stress what a stupid idea this is, but everyone here seems to want to face danger head on, so I might as well join the bandwagon. Wohoo." Thobias did an unenthusiastic jazz hands to give some depth to his expression. "I'm sure Clara is doing fine by herself, with all that vodoo stuff she has in that book." He shook his head and covered his face with his palm. When he took them away a second later his coolness returned. "Okay, I'm ready, let's do this." Thobias hastly removed his shirt, revealing a grey tank top under it. You gotta give credits to that shirt, it hid well Thobias's muscly body. "Everyone grab onto me. My portal is all outta juice for now, so we need to do this the old fashioned way."
How you survived: Survive? That's a good joke. We thrived on the wars. Everybody needs PMCs now and then for the work they cannot do, and when there is war, you can be sure that we'll have plenty of jobs. We took to the seas early which saved us from a lot of the chaos that was going on around the world. By the second war we have grown enough that we could feed and arms ourselves without the need of others, and we wouldn't be bothered by anyone on international waters. Now that the gates have been discovered, we have the perfect opportunity to begin our trade yet again on a different world and make a big buck.
Ships:
Pelorus Jack - The flagship of the fleet, the Jack is a heavely modified Kiev-class "heavy aviation cruiser", which has already undergone several changes in ownership. It's latest one was it's purchase by the Mare Delfino, which is where it serves currently. Refurbished to be a mobile operations center, the superstructure has been expanded slightly to allow the mounting of more modern sensory equipment, and to make space for a sizeable hydroponics facility. Otherwise, the flight deck has been left pretty much untouched since there was no need for expansion, and it's 2 dual purpose gun mounts have been replaced with 4 RAM missile system. Since it serves as a home base and flagship for the Mare Delfino, it has several distinct modules: The forementioned hydroponics, a sizeable workshop that takes up most of the internal hangar which can manufacture small arms and other related equipment, and service aircraft and other vehicles with tools and materials produced in-house. The cannibalized aircraft hangar is a shy image of it's former self, but it houses most of the Mare Delfino's equipment and vehicles. Beside the workshop, a small recycling facility handles the trash created by the crew and repurposes most materials to allow for several months of sustained sea travel. Finally, the original steam boilers of the ship have been replaced with a license built A1B nuclear reactor, which now provides the electricity for the hulking beast of a ship.
Risso - A repurposed container ship, the Risso is a ship nearly the size of the Jack. With plenty of space on it's deck, it has been heavely repurposed to fill the needs of the fleet while on the ocean. She is equipped with a large farmspace, hydropnics facility and a small ranch where pigs and chickens are kept. Added superstructure runs along the entire ship in the form of an elevated platform made of cargo container that separates the greenhouses. Behind the bridge the remaining area was left untouched and it serves it's original purpose of storing cargo for the fleet. Below the deck lies most of her engineering, and a small prodcution facility where food is canned or refrigerated for future use. Fuel for the other ships is stored inside a large fuel tank at the front of the ship. She might not look much, but the Risso is an important logistical part of the fleet, where life never ceases to slow down. Most civilians and off duty crewman work here day and night.
Dusky - A former Russian icebreaker vessel which retained most of it's original functionality. The vessel is already suited for long range travel and can house many people. Most of the soldiers and engineering crew reside here. There are dedicated relaxation areas here which serve to ease the sailors who are off rotation from the Pelorus Jack or Orca. Most of the ship serves the one purpose of feeding and entertaining members of the Mare Delfino, as well as housing a small number of related families who work as the only civilian crew members aboard all four ships in utility roles such as janitors and chefs.
Orca - A Zubr class LCAC, the Orca is a ship you wouldn't expect in a fleet. Technically a hovercraft, it usually rests in tow behind the Risso, unassumingly floating on the water. But at a moment's notice, the Orca can escort the fleet at an unprecedented speed: cruising atop the water near 60 knots, it is twice as fast as most potential naval threats, and can deploy quickly to respond and deter agressors. It features a large inside hangar bay which is what the Mare Delfino use for transporting their away teams and hauling supplies to the fleet.
Technology:
The Mare Delfino aren't going to revolutionise the world with some advanced technological discovery. However they do know how to make good weapons. A variety of domestically produced guns and equipments bolster their arsenal, known for their reliability and effectiveness. There is a simple mindset for the fleet: create what you can, take care of what you cannot. Over the years the fleet has gotten exceptionally good at doing repairs on large vessels and vehicles, and the structurally sound hull of the age old Pelorus Jack stands as a testament. From guns to light vehicles almost anything can be produced in the workshop of the Jack using their own materials and machines, and as long as necessary resources are avaible, there isn't much that cannot be built there.
Military might:
Since the Mare Delfino isn't associated with anyone, and has less focus on all that "saving mankind" and more on that "making fat dosh" and "surviving", their military presence is more than what you'd expect of other fleets who ferry thousands of settlers. A measely 238 soldiers make up the fleet's core defensive and offensive force, but they are well equipped and full of fighting spirits. This might seem like a lot, but since the entire fleet is so small, there is a tight bond between the soldiers. Having sat out the 4th World War, but benefitting from both the 3rd and 4th, there is plenty of experience to go around. Salvaging was the name of the game when everybody else was about surviving. Thought the Long Fare was a lot of things apart from pleasant, it did help to restock the wounded arsenal of the fleet. Around the mediterranian, along with many other tidbits of weaponary and loads of supplies, the fleet has looted a Namer APC, 3 BTR-90s, a BTR-90 Krymsk and a VBM Freccia IFV. Another interesting find was a disabled M60 patton they found in Syria which is currently a static placeholder inside the workshop, with no means of repair. A similarly ill fated italian MQ-1 was picked up, and thought it has been restorted to working order, it lacks any armanents. Thought no more salvagable ground vehicles were found later in the war, when combat became more devastating than before, there were other encounters. A distress call from the Admiral Kuznetsov resulted in the salvaging of an operational Mig 29K. Near the coasts of Indonesia, the fleet came across a recently downed JH-7 floating on the sea, the pilot still inside, which was quickly returned to the flight deck and it's pilot rescued, and then repaired with spare equipment. The final acquisition of importance was near the west coast of the US. They repaired downed Z-9 that was heavely damaged, but after cannibalizing parts from others crafts they managed to get it back to working order.
For a quick recap of vehicles: - 3+1 BTR 90 - Namer APC - VBM Freccia IFV - M60 Patton (crippled) - MQ-1 Predator - Z-9 Transport Helicopter - Mig 29K - JH-7
History:
Back in the 20th century, when the Soviet Union disbanded, some ingenious soviet soldiers had the idea of starting a PMC. However the new laws and geopolitical situation didn't allow for such a thing. They travelled to Italy, a country not known for it's military might, and bought up a small crumbling company: the Mare Delfino. They left the name unchanged for a variety of reasons, including having a shell company for military purchases, and began building up their operation. At the time the company was made up of around 20 men, and they mostly offered protection for different clients. Fast forwars and the 21st century saw many combats even before the 3rd and 4th world war. The Mare Delfino grew a lot off of these smaller wars, often dabbling in arms dealing and intelligence work. As the company grew, news of the Italian company spread. News began to spread about the founders of the company, and there was a fear of potential backlash if it was found out that soviet veterans aching for war were operating a PMC. This is the direct reason for the purchase of the Pelorus Jack from a chinese owner. A lot of the ship had to be refitted, but it proved to be a suitable platfrom for operations. Acquisitions of military gear were made during these times, and the Mare Delfino had a sizeable rotorcraft arsenal as well as a seaplane for scouting.
Then all hell broke out when the 3rd world war began. Through most of it, the Mare Delfino offered it's services for various sides, but it lost most of it's holding during the war. By the end, apart from the Pelorus Jack, there were no ships left in the fleet, vehicles in the hangar or aircraft on the deck. What they did have was money. So they went on to buy many assets from different sources, and amass a fleet capable of staying out of ports and still operate at full capacity. This is Azure Armada, the same fleet that now roams the seas. It was many peaceful years that followed, and the fleet flourished on the high oceans. It was during this time that the Jack was outfitted with a nuclear reactor.
The 4th world war caught the fleet in Italy, on one of the rare resupply runs that they had to make yearly. At first nobody thought people would be as insane as before, and the armada planned to sail to Israel and look for contract work. But the jack was stuck in drydocks for a week as the crew had to make some repair work on the hull. By the time they arrived, the middle east was a disaster zone. This marked the beginning of the "Long Fare", the fleets trip around the world during the 4th world war. They stayed for a few weeks and salvaged a variety of vehicles from the battlefields, and did a few jobs here and there, but as the situation got worse, they decided to sail back to Italy for a finaly goodbye and then leave for the high seas.
By the time they reached the ports of Sicily, the war has engulfed the area, and they were forced to continue without stopping. On their way around Sicily, they picked up a squad of Italian troopers, alnog with whom they received their VBM Freccia and MQ-1. It didn't take lnog to convince them not to go back and instead join them.
Once the fleet left Gibraltar, they decided to head south for safer waters. The decision ultimately proved to be right: the northern sea turned into a massive battlezone soon after. It was during this time that they received the distress call from the russian carrier, which had received a disabling hit. After jam packing their fastest ship with supplies, the Orca, a small group left to help whoever they could. The battle still raged on as they approached, but the carriers was seemingly left behind, sunken halfway already. With the help of some of the remaining crew of the ship, including it's captain, they ferried supplies over to the Orca alnog with the Mig 29K. After they returned to the fleet, they spent several months near the horn of africa, and visited the Antarctica a few times for respite. It seemed like this was the only peaceful palce on earth left. Then they sailed for the Indian ocean, where they spent nearly 2 years in the tropical waters, rarely having to resupply, As the war got worse, the fleet sailed out for the Pacific, during wich they had many close encounters. Ultimately, on their way tohrought the south chinese sea, they salvaged the JH-7 and helped out it's pilot.
By the time this ragtag bunch of international soldiers reached the west coast of the US, the war was pretty much over. They ransacked the devastated cityscape of the west coast, looking for any military gear to reuse. They spent several months cruising around the area, until taking the long route around Canda to arrive back in the Atlantic. This is where the news of the gate's opening found them, and they sailed out for the new world soon after with nothing left to loose: they stay here where nothing is left, or they could go and visit a new world with endless posibilities.
Leskov "White Beard" Antonovich
Rank: Admiral
Capabilities: Antonov is a capable captain who has plenty of experience piloting large ships already. A man who has weathered many winters, the captain is known to stay cool even under the most extreme situations and give valuable life lessons to other crew members. He has a strong presence that not many can withstand, and his word is law on the ship. Under his command every nook and cranny will stay clean, and every piece of equipment will be in top notch condition.
Background: Antonov was once the captain of Russia's flagship carriers, but after his ship's CIWS failed to stop a RAM the vessel took a critical hit. Most of the crew evacuated, including plenty of fighter pilots, but he decided to stay behind until the last second. He was rescued from the vessel along with some crew by the Azure Fleet, and Antonov decided to stay. Originally in control of the Orca, it soon became clear that his capabilities were exceptional. So when the old captain, the last living founding member of the Mare Dolfine, died of age, it was obvious who should take his place. He has commandeered the Azure Fleet ever since, finishing the Long Fare and earning a great deal of reputation along the way.

Griogair "The Dwarf" Roddy
Rank: Chief Engineer
Capabilities: He's short. He's strong. He's Scottish. He can repair or make just about anything. He drinks awfully lot. He's a dwarf straight outta the tales.
Background: Gregory joined the team when they were sailing outta Gibraltar. Upon a lone skiff was a man who roved after the Pelorus Jack so fast that they couldn't outrin him. Eventually the fleet slowed down to let the man, who chased after them for hours, step foot in the hangar. He had one thing to say before getting familiar with the workshop: "Gimme a week and I'll patch 'er up like ye never seen before." Since there was a distinct lack of engineers at the time, it seemed like the obvious choice to let this crazy lunatic do his thing. Well, the only choice. It turned out to be a sound decision afterwards, and the workshop did change face within a week. Gregory snuck himself into everyone's heart with his energetic attitude paired with his short nature, and it didn't take long for him to become a permament member of the weekly poker tournament. That said, nobody knows what he did before joining the fleet, but most (rightfully) speculate that he was some sort of a craftsman.

Thought she shares the same strong and menacing attitude as the captain, unlike him she is not nearly as benevolent. But that is likely the reason that the soldiers are all still in order. Nothing gets you more motivated than having to do a 100 push ups on the flight deck in the middle of a storm while someone is shouting at your face.
Background: Lise was picked up by the fleet in Sicily, when her unit got surrounded by enemy forces. She is one of the few members of the cast who initially didn't speak english, and she still orders her soldiers in Italian instead of english. This causes some interesting division between the other minority language on the ship, the other being russian, as it is sometimes hard for them to find a middle ground when speaking to each other. Besides that, she doesn't speak much of her past, but she has some interesting stories of past missions.

Liu "ACE" Heng
Rank: Jet Pilot
Capabilities: Liu is a rookie pilot. A rookie, but a very promising one. Thought not the best pilot who has every served on the Pelorus jack, she has learnt the most in the smallest amount of time. Plus, she's the only jet pilot on the ship, so there's not exactly much of a chocie.
Background: Liu was a pilot at the PLAAF. Her plane was hit by an EMP blast, and fell into the ocean, the catapult mechanism not responding. Her craft survived and she was knocked out, but the Azure Fleet was close-by when this happened and they nurtured her back to health. Ever since she's been trying to do her best for the rest of the crew, making her people proud. Along with Gregory she is one of the crowd favourites as her unmatched energy and determination makes her a pleasurable company in hard times.
@Retro Nation RPs usually go down via interactions between characters inside larger events that progress the story, so keeping some consistency is good. If you want to get any named characters later whent the game is already rolling you can always update the character tab, but it helps if you have a pool of characters to roll with straight from the get go.
@KillamriX88@Hammerman@Gentlemanvaultboy Thobias watched in ave as Bak began shooting straight upwards, tearing the building apart. He had some issues with the philosophy of bringing several floors down on oneselves head, but he wagered that Bak would be fine. She's one of the few people who he wasn't afraid for. Speaking of the other one, she was being nurtured by her sister. Thought he turned to check on Kath, his gaze lingered a little longer than intended, his eyes lost in Christine's pants.
He took a deep breath and excercised self control by turning away as if nothing happened. Christine has to stop doing that unless she wants Rurik to fight every man who dares peek at her pants.
The sound of machine guns stopped, and the fine dust began to disperse from the air, revaling Bak who was covered waist height in rubble. Thobias smiled and shooked his head and walked up to the girl. "Come here girl, let me help you." He grabbed Bak's arms and then used his warp ability to get her out of the rubble some feet away. The pile of debree now collapsed into itself, making a sharp noise.
"Damn, you're one fullmetal bitch." He held up his palm in a defensive manner. "In a good way, I mean." Thobias sighed and he turned to Rurik.
"Elevator huh? That the best you can come up with?" He was about to think up a perfect comeback when a loud, painful sigh grabbed his attention. Kath was waking up.
The last thing Kath remembered was the cold rush of water sapping away her strength. Under the pressure her senses came back, but they were just as quickly taken away by an all encasing darkness that seemed to take over her body. Then it was just silence in the palce of rushing water. Kath found herself waking up inside a large dark room that seemed to go on forever. She looked around, traning her eyes aginst the grey horizon. Where am I? She tried to speak but her voice never left her lips and instead resonated from all around. Huh, weird
Kath stood up and turned around trying to find something. It seemed an almost futile task at first, but she noticed a faint light in the distance. Without better ideas she began walking towards it. Her body felt heavy, her steps slow as if someone was dragging her, but she pushed on.
As she approached the light it began to shine up with a luminsecent glow, and pictures of past events popped up in front of Kath. Her childhood in the mansion and the lone time she and her sister spent together. The fancy dinners they attended with Christine where they would have to dress up and look all cute to entertain their parent's guests. Her and Thboias when they were younger, playing games together and eating ice cream. She shook her head, clearing her head of bitter memories. The first day of high school. She remembered how scared she was to go to school for the first time, as they were taught at home until then. Her first boxing tournament that ended in her geting absolutely trashed, but she kept standing up. Charlotte. That memory was painful enough to make Kath stop for a second. But she pushed on past and the image of the girl faded into nothing. Then it was the images of her other friends in school, the other Laurels kids. They were important to her even if she always acted brash. Then she heard her sister calling for her, and images of her flooded her mind. But it was different this time, almost as if she was nearby. Kath looked around, searching for her sister. Christine? Christine, where are you?
She stumbled and fell on her kness, looking around but she couldn't hear her sister anymore. Tears began rolling down her cheek, and she felt like she could no longer fight back. It felt like her body was heavier and heavier, her mind getting foggier with every moment. She remembred her furious rampages when she lost her mind, and echoes filled her head. Monster they said, A demon some others called out. Rage filled her heart as the memories flooded her, and it was getting harder and harder to concentrate. Her tears blurred her vision, and she just wanted to lie down and cry.
But then, the glowing light began to approach her, growing more and more luminescent by the moment. Kath shielded her eyes from the bright light, but it was warm instead of painful. She looked back up, and saw a woman covered in flames float a feet above the ground in front of her. She noticed some uncanny familiarity traits between her and the woman, but she didn't know here. Who are you? The woman kneeled down in front of her, holding Kath's face between her hands. Her touch felt warm despite it being seemingly ablaze, and Kath felt newfound warmth course through her body. Teras began roling down her cheek as she enjoyed the warm embrace and the woman spoke up with a soft voice. "Don't cry my child. Your path is of pain, but I gave you fortitude." Kath looked up at the woman, and saw her smiling. The woman's name eluded her, but she felt so oddly familiar. "Now gather your strength and rise!"
Everything disappeared, and Kath slowly opened her eyes to find herself in a new, but familair place. She sat up, her head aching and swirling around. "Ugh, where am I?"
