Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Viktor's eyebrows twitched upwards in a rare show of surprise. He had rather been enjoying the conversation with the woman. Not many would start a discussion on the necessities of truths and lies with a creature as old as he. Athough he had gravely misunderstood the situation, much to his disappointment. Only black and white, only absolutes. If eight hundred years of life had taught him anything, nothing was certain and everything changed.
“If that is what you wish. I harbor no such conceptions of our persons but perhaps you mistook my intent.” Viktor fumbled through his money and pulled out a ten dollar bill, handing it off to the merchant. “A simple debate over our points of disagreement creates not rivers but bridges. After all if neither words nor time can change those whom bend to both their wills, what future does any race or creature have but utter destruction? Nevertheless, I'll be full glad to remove myself from your presence at your behest. Those who see not gradient are no different than that which drove away the Dusk. And now history weeps at their hands, Her blood on their hands.” He took the receipt and turned away. He still needed those ear plugs. He let his magic surround him once more before checking the note his coworker had given him with a confused glance.
"Pray child if it is not much burden, direct me to this merchant. I fear the market's paths still escape my memory." He held the note out for the elf to see, Nadia's Knick Knacks scribbled on the paper.
Chari paid no attention to what the other guild members were up to, she just wanted to have a little fun and get buzzed. So far this Xenos has made her laugh and has kept up with her drinks, that was good enough for her to hang out more with him "You should be jealous." She giggled "Mining seems really, really boring." She was more likely just to pay for the materials.
It was her understanding this world was programmed to be as realistic as possible, which was good or bad depending on what you were doing "I take it your a tinker then? Or at least good with your hands?" She laughed once more before taking another sip of her drink, her lips locked in a smirk as the glass lowered. She didn't give him a chance to answer right away "Isn't kind of silly to craft something so early when your bound to get something better from doing quests? That's how these games work, right?" This was a more serious question.
She nodded wit pride "That's right." Her eyes squinted a bit at him, wondering why he asked that. Next thing she knew he was practically going off on a rant about hiring them and doing a quest. He was speaking so quickly that her eyes were left wide as he talked, trying to consolidate everything he was saying. Then he starting doing odd gestures, which amused her greatly. Chari giggled once more as he became self-aware "I could see why they say that." She spoke in good humor. Everyone had their passion she guessed. It was a bit sad though he sounded so desperate "I'm guessing you're not a part of any guild then?" It was a rhetorical question, she turned from her seat and pointed at a guy with silver hair and eyes "You'd have to talk to big boss over there. He's the party leader and guild-master."
She thought for a moment "You could probably join it, doesn't seem like there is a restrictions for joining yet." That also meant that he might be able to plead to Rey Rey about tapping into the guild's funds which were now over 6,000 Renn.
Xenos glanced at the man currently occupied with River. Yes with not by because the boy was a handful at best. He gave another low whistle of appreciation. Underneath the tired sag in his shoulders, the man was definitely a pleasure to look at. Xenos would be the first to call himself shallow. People's looks attracted him first and foremost and he has no problem admitting it. He wouldn't have a problem joining this guild if anyone else was as remotely attractive as these two. He turned back to Chari.
"Well, well, well. Are all of you beautiful or did I just get lucky seeing you two first?" Xenos chuckled, sipping at the drink again. He felt the alcohol's pleasant lightness suffused through his muscles. "Yeah crafting at low levels is really useless. Barely covers it's own cost in most games. But crafting from lower levels to higher levels is generally a stronger option than leveling it later. Saves time and money down the road too. Imagine that in this world, to beat the last boss you need the highest tier item. Not unusual right? And even more common, you need high ranking crafted materials to get said item. Well, suddenly all of your friends are struggling to raise their crafting, spending two or three times the amount easily and locked behind weeks of crafting caps. Impatient, you head to he player market place only to find the prices of these pieces astronomically high. Now you either have to wait while your friends level their skills, level your own skills, or spend hours and hours grinding and selling runs to purchase that item while the price of the item only gets higher. All of a sudden, you wish you'd have spent the time leveling your crafting so you wouldn't suffer through this stupid mess." He knocked back the rest of his drink and grinned at her. "Plus my class abilities function off my crafting levels sooooooo may or may not be biased!"
"And yes, I'm excellent with my hands. An engineer through and through." He shot her a wink and leaned closer to her. "But I'm always willing to give a private demonstration." He murmured and leaned back, giggling a little. "Anywho, what about you? More to you than being a badass on the battle field?"
Chari rolled her eyes casually at his remark, her lips curving into a half-smile "Some are just more beautiful than others, I would say.." Normally, Chari would be very suspicious of these kind of compliments. Xenos, however, seemed to make these comments lightly in his own semi-joking sort of way it seemed. Then unexpectedly, he starting going in-depth about the advantages of low-level crafting.
That was where he lost her attention. Crafting wasn't really a concern of hers, so naturally she didn't care much about it. At the very least, it showed there was also a brain behind those pretty eyes. She laughed at the simple length of his explanation when he finished.
Her right arm tensed as he moved closer, an instinct she could not control, but she raised a brow as she coyly said "Is that so?" She dismissively said before giggling along with him. Chari turned her heard away from him, looking over the bar, as she took another long drink "HA! You'd need to get more drinks before you find that out. But what I can tell you though...is that I'm also good with my hands." A devious smirk crossed her lips as she held up her hand, revealing a few coins that she had taken from him when he got close. "It's important to keep an eye on your money." She placed the coins in front of him on the bar.
Chari tensing didn't slip past Xenos. 'Oh fuck, oh shit, crap crap crap. Here is where I die. Twas a valiant run. Here lays Xenos, the idiot who hit on a bad ass woman and gotten beaten to death by her. No the worst way to die but still sucky." He thought to himself desperately. And then she responded and Xenos heaved an internal sigh of relief. No death today apparently but personal space is definitely a thing. Got it. And then she was waving his own money in front of him. Well damn. He swooned playfully, trying to hide how easily impressed he was by the trick.
"And along with my coin, have thou stolen my heart fair thief." He finished his drink quickly and smirked at her. "And since you've so enlightened me on my failure to properly value my coin, perhaps I should relieve myself of the burden of this responsibility." He added more Renn to the pile and slid it over to the bar keep. "Another round of shots for us please! I'm tempted to see how many drinks you can keep before you start spilling secrets. But if she doesn't want more, I have no problem drinking the rest myself." He shot her a cock smirk, clearly challenging her.
Chari shrugged "Theif? I consider myself more of a Kunoichi." She absolutely loved ninjas, they were always so cool and bad-ass in shows. Her emerarld eyes watched as he added more Renn onto the bar-top, eventually ordering a round of shots for the two of them. She laughed menacingly at his challenge, an almost evil glint in her eyes "I see you wish for a war of attrition then? Very well, let's see how long you can hold out." Her voice carried a dramatic flair, like the main villain of some anime.
The shots arrived and she took a hold of hone in her right hand "I just hope you know, I can out drink my older brothers. That I'll give for free." She warned with a intimidating look and a sinister grin.
"My skin is clear, my crops are flourishing, a red headed Kunoichi bestowed unto me a free blessing!" He joked as he picked up the second shot. The speed with which she rose to the challenge thrilled him and he returned her grin with a confident smirk. "And I come from a family of Mexicans. If you can't hold your liquor by the time you're fifteen, you will after that birthday!" He cackled and suddenly an idea hit him.
"How about we up the ante a little here? After all, where is the fun in playing without a prize hm? One embarrassing experience per shot. If you can't drink or won't share, you pay the other two silver coins. I'll even go first if you want." He held the shot to his lips. "Think you can keep up on two fronts?" He teased.
She shook her head while displaying a great deal of amusement in her expression "Then it will be a battle of the livers!" She laughed quite a bit, her first round of alcohol had certainly loosened her up some.
Chari leaned on the bar table with her elbows, leaning on it as he cleverly introduced a new challenge to the contest. Personally, she had done the best she could to forget about life outside of Talrae. Real life was none to kind to her but whether it was the alochol or simply Xenos's charm, she wouldn't back down now "Now you're pushing your luck." She leaned back, a half smirk on her lips. Her quick hands snatched the shot glass from his hands "Hmm, alright. Just don't cry when you lose, 'kay?" She stared him dead in the eyes as she emptied the shot glass and slammed it down.
Six shots later and a beer later, Xenos finally admitted defeat. Between the floor debating at what incline it should stay and no longer feeling his extremities, Xenos still had just enough sense to tap out. He stood from his chair and dropped two silvers in front of, or a few feet away from, Chari before giggling.
"You win! You win!" He conceded, still throwing his one last shot down. He paid good Renn for that damn it! "So my last moment for the night was this moment when I was twelve and that moment my twin dared me to climb our big ole tree in the backyard and the moment I reached the tip- the tep, no no the top!-, I saw our neighbor doing the dirty with some girl and in that moment I was so shocked I fell from the tree. But my thoughts on the way down in that moment were "Damn I wanna be between them!" Cue the moment of my bisexual awakening with a broken leg!" He giggled at that as he spent several long minutes trying to send Chari a friend request.
"Okay okay okay. We should totally do this again! I will have my reveeeenge!" He went in to give her a hug before freezing and swaying back unsteadily, leaning against his rifle. "No touchy that's right. You don't like touchy. That's okay, I'll just wave goodnight then. See I remembered!" He giggled again and waved. "I'mma go ttalk to your boss man and then meander off to bed Okies? You have a marvelously magical evening Miss Angel. You are aaan absolute deeelight!" He gave Chari an unsteady nod, supported by his rifle, and stumbled off.
Chari's chest felt like a roaring, cozy fire in the dead of winter. Admittedly, the amount of alcohol consumed had made balancing...difficult. Nevertheless, she had a new kind of respect for Xenos. He was the only one in Talrae that now knew anything about her life outside it, and he done so in an a fun way. A wide smile came across her lips as he dropped the two silver renn pieces, it seemed victory was hers.
She slid in the renn into her pocket "Odds were against you from the start, darling." laughing as she said it. Noticing that he downed the last shot for good measure, she decided to finish hers as well. At least this place was nicer than most of the clubs she'd been too. A grin was kept the entire length of his small story, giggling as he finished. The last one she had told him was the time she got way too drunk and fell down on her way home right into a puddle, since it was raining. A nice guy tried to steady her and help her home but somewhere along the lines she socked him in the nose and broke it, but even then he still helped her out. All she could remember was mumbling apologies the whole way back. "Suddenly everything about you makes sense." She laughed even harder. Chari was dreading standing up at this point.
Her reply was a strong nod but her body locked up as he moved for a hug, hand nearly clenching into a fist. To her surprise, Xenos didn't go for it even six shots under the influence. That alone added massive points on her list of people she liked. It was still a bitter reminder that even though she tried to throw the real world away, there were still chains that bound her to it. Luckily Xenon's cheery attitude prevented her from thinking about that too much "Good boy, you learn quick." she laughed it off. Exhaustion was hitting her now, so she would skip the bath tonight and just slip into bed "Don't forget a bucket and water!" She advised with a smile "I hope the morning doesn't hit you too hard cutie." Another giggle escaped her lips.
Yooo booooss maaaan." He said in a sing song voice, calling out to Reylan. "Gotta ask yous a question!" He grabbed a chair and plopped down in it next to River. "Are you eating? Here at thought you were fucking vegan or something. Also take a bath tonight. I'll give you Renn for that since you already bummed off that guy. And we're sharing a room cause I ain't paying for two and you ain't sleeping on the streets. Aaaaaanyways." He shot a lopsided smile at Reylan.
"You for hire? Defs need a group to supply iron secure. I mean," Xenos focused a little, crossing his eyes in concerntration, "Chari caaaan driiiink and it's amaaaaIng! Bit no I need a group to secure an iron supply. I become a bot for you all if you need one!" He paused for a moment and elbowed River as he spoke to Reylan. "Why are you and Chari so bueatiful? Aren't they Ro- I mean River? Jeaaaaaalous AF!"
Xenos let out a low whistle. Killed a dungeon boss five days in and rode a white wolf. That sounds amazing! Definitely impressive. And here he is, struggling to get ore to update some of this… quaint tech. Color him jealous? Check. Way out of his league? Check. Is he having fun? Hell yeah!
“M’lady, loose? You wound me!” He sighed, clutching at his heart dramatically. “I would never! Well maybe... possibly... probably. But ya know technicalities.” He waved off the accusation with a wink. He watched her down a shot and, not one to be left behind, slammed his own shot down as well. He shivered pleasantly as the burn radiated through him.
"Seriously mixed signals here darling.” He chuckled and winked. “Well, you admit I'm a looker and I count that as a win! Anyways, nothing so exciting for me. Mining and mining day in and out. Some fighting and quests. And more mining. I’m jealous really!”
He grimaced as he stretched and started on his next drink. " You know, they programmed the pain of manual labor? I want to update this silly muzzle loading rifle to a breech loading one but I need iron to work with. And the soreness is murder on my hands. I'm not sure if calluses are a thing here but I’d rather not find out.” He grumbled. He took another sip and sighed before narrowing his eyes thoughtfully. He tapped on his glass absently.
“Your party cleared a dungeon hm?” He thought out loud, pulling up the dashboard and looking over the quest options. “Are you all for hire? See my mining skill is garbage so I've collected jack shit so far. I need a more consistent iron souce than gathering alone allows. Concussion grenades, grenade launcher, breech loading rifles and pistols, hell even stuff not of my own inventing at this level needs it and its insanely expensive.” He faced her fully, eyes sparkling despite the serious set of his face. “If I do the guard the mines quest, I might be able to weasel my way into a bi-annual contract with them and secure a reliable supply line! I need people to pull this off though. You think your group would be willing? I can't really pay in Renn but I’ll give you guys free repairs, upgrades, and access to specialty consumables! Please?” He had started speaking faster and faster as he got excited, gesturing wildly through his explanation before he caught himself and snatched his hands back and smiled bashfully.
“Sorry, sorry. I get a little carried away with ideas once I get them. I’ve been told it's a little overwhelming.” He rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed. And now she knew he was a total dork. He sighed again but looked up hopefully. “Um but think about it please? It would really help me out and I don’t mind being a repair bot for the opportunity.”
Xenos startled as someone plopped down into the stool next to him. He glanced over, swirling what little remained of his drink. His eyes wandered over her, taking in red hair and pale skin and, most importantly, how quickly she gulped down alcohol. An easy smile made its way across his face and he tossed back his drink. He set the glass on the table and turned to the stranger next to him, leaning on the bar.
“Well gorgeous, is it hot in here or is it just you?” He winked before waving down the barkeep. “Keep me on pace with Wonder Woman here please. If ever there was a sign to keep drinking, this angel here is definitely it!” He chuckled and slid his Renn across the table, snatching up the first beer as it came his way and took a long gulp with a satisfied sigh before grimacing as his shoulder protested the sudden movement.
“River's a riot though huh? Found him outside the city, eating berries and stuff. Had been avoiding the city like the plague after a bunch of groups tried to force him to join. Healer panic and all that.” He gestured towards the hyper Trainer. He grimaced again, rolling his shoulder to ease out the soreness. Who thought programming the pain of manual labor a good idea. They should have only kept pain simulators for combat. Gathering ore was going to be unpleasant moving forward. Honestly, people played games to escape... Well, that answered that question then.
“Aaaaaaanyways, you mentioned a good fight. Come in from the fields or did you try one of your hand at one of the dungeons?” He asked.
“And for what purpose should such a facade I assume? Nay child, the breath of the grave on mine nape and fingers of Death about mine breast are constant companions; I feign dare do them disservice.” Viktor replied, an eyebrow arched in question as he gave her his full attention. His eyes traced the glowing patterns for the moment they brightened. “Although forgive me mine ignorance, the significance of your observations eludes mine comprehension. I balk not at mine predisposition, the burdensome equilibrium mine existence demands proves a comforting weight on my shoulders. Sincerity and Honesty - the two virtues whose pallor fades not with time but instead flourishes at the edges of the river's banks. Tis the only fleeting threads not yet warped into mine afflicted skein and so sacrifice them I shall not.” Viktor turned back to the elf briefly.
“Hasten not onwards from our conversation child. Your attention wanderers aimlessly and still I know not what recompense you desire for services rendered.” Viktor's face remained impassive but his words had just the slightest edge, annoyance slipping through.
“Apologies are unnecessary.” Viktor dismissed the merchant's concerns, instead watching as the talkative girl seemingly ascertained his nature. He eyed her warily. “However, I doubt your decision to pass out such cordial without recompense gothic. Indeed even as she nurtures her child, shall she remember in emergency did coin not pass her purse. Be wary upon her return as the jade demands similarity in exceeding less and less alarm.” Viktor scowled at the elf. If Greed did roam this world, humanity was Its avatar. Pandering to their lesser bases lead to where the Dusk were now. “Though be it far from my place to lecture you such. Pray, for what am I indebted to you for a roast barely lighter than dark?” He turned to the interrupting woman.
“Indeed I discovered this curiosity not yet a fortnight past. I believed myself above silly indulgences yet here I stand indulging.” He let the barrier on him shimmer away so he could pull out a coin purse. “And still it has driven me much further than plain texts writ by mortals with sight beyond their lives. Perhaps I could indulge your infatuation? If you feel so compelled, Caffeinated Concoctions stays open through every chime. If you stumble into before the sun's first light, I'll oblige your weakness. Though perhaps refrain from cutting into others conversation this time.”
Viktor stepped quietly onto the streets of this city. He spent a few moments just watching, pressed into the shadows of a corner as life bustled by. He briefly considered returning to his room and his books, curled contently up in the small nest of bedsheets, blankets, and pillows in the corner furthest from the door. He had moved the bare bed barely away from the wall and had entrenched himself there the first night. He didn’t particular care he was indoors but he hadn’t slept on anything soft since… he wasn’t sure really. The floor felt much better, sturdier. Only the noise was a problem.
The vampire shook his head. He worked tonight and his coworker suggested a little shop that sold ear plug, little things that apparently helped with noise. He wanted to pick it up before work so he could head home immediately after. He slipped out of the little corner and steeled himself as he slipped into the bustle of the city. He choked back the urge to hiss at everything that touched him. He reminded himself he was here voluntarily, he was here to change. It may just take some time.
It was suffocating. After centuries of silence, of open spaces, of living creatures giving his havens wide berth, the incessant buzz of life and unlife weighed heavily on him. It felt constrictive and abrasive. It made him want to abandon this nonsense and curl back up in the wilderness. He knew he couldn’t but Viktor couldn’t help but yearn for the way things used to be. Before the Children of Dawn had connected every part of the world. Before their winged contraptions and metal rolling boxes pounded against his ears. Before their unabashed greed devoured every hiding place he had made.
But it was far too late and even vampires must eventually bow to the passage of time, despite their certainty of their immunity. He let his magic unfurl around him, keeping a thin translucent barrier just above his skin. It was tiring but less stressful than others constantly touching him. It was a technique one of the professors had taught him when he’d noticed Viktor’s irritation. And it made everything just a little better.
"Herbs get your herbs here! I got hunting toxins, cooking ingredients, and medicinal plants alike! Come get your fresh herbs here! Potent and strong for the amateur or expert!"
Viktor stopped abruptly and swiveled quickly on his heel, barely noticing the grumbling of the woman who narrowly avoided him. He narrowed his eyes as he found it, an elf across the market. His coffee supply was running low. What a perfect time to replenish it. He slipped behind the elf and tapped him lightly on the shoulder.
“Are coffee beans amongst your wares child?” The words struggled to lift themselves off his tongue, his voice low and rough, the words sluggish.
So I know I ghosted for like 5 months but if you want an idea, here is my two cents. It's how I used to handle my dnd play by posts I used to DM for.
Make a post every three or four days that moves the plot and anyone who hadn't posted at least once in that time frame gets auto moved. For example, in a fight Person A is calling out commands to B, C, and D. B and C post bit D doesn't by the time you put out the boss post. In the fight summary, it'll read "Person D auto attacks for (whatever value)." If this happens repeatedly with the same people, discuss with them privately. People may be more willing to discuss it in private instead of in the OOC maybe.
In the event it isn't a fight, they go chill in the in or they stay quiet during a travel scene. This way the game keeps moving for those who are in a position to post regularly.
Of course, this system assumes the person didn't tell you anything before hand.
