Bio

Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Interested in an RP? Send me a PM and have a magically marvelous day!

Location: Medical Bay, Strange Academy -> Home - Court of Two Sisters
Skills: Sleight of Hand

It was a dream come true.

Napping on Sabine was nice after the chaos of the tournament, the Entity, just all of it. Beanie was warm and familiar and safe and Danni could have happily spent another hour dozing. But when the news hit the infirmary, when Katie and Tommy’s tablet blared with the announcement and everyone jolted into action and people rushed in with congratulations and condolences, Danni could only sit there and blink. April and Dorian and Danni wanted to join the competition together from the second they’d collided. Every moment of extra time was dedicated to training once they’d realized. The burns, the aches, the blisters, the near brushes with death, the frustration when they were separated, the irritation at the rest for standing between them – all of it led here, their team name plastered across screens, shouted in the stands, broadcast to all the world that the time and effort and suffering was worth it. Things were quiet, Danni felt numb, and everything seemed a little too bright to be real.

It took him several long minutes to shake off the strange numbness that seeped into his muscles, that took his breath from his lungs, that muted the energy that surrounded him but when he did, he exploded. The exhaustion and fatigue fell away because it mattered so little when in the face of such challenges, they’d won. Danni swept Beanie off the bed, screaming incoherently. He almost tackled Percy if it wasn’t for a nurse managing to intercept him and redirecting him like an overexcited puppy to the next nearest patient – Eli. Danni didn’t mind one bit, immediately falling into the medical cot, bouncing up and down while screaming his head off, and racing off to the next person just to repeat until he bolted out the door.

The resulting whirlwind of events only served to hype Danni up further. Selfies were taken and posted through the entirety of the next five hours, Danni screaming and fanning over his own fans and pulling up the memes about them to show the team. His accounts blew up and he knew he’d have to get everyone on his channel one way or another. But plotting (or puppy dog eyes and begging) would come later because right now, Danni had as much attention as he wanted and he was going to absolutely milk that for every bit it was worth.

Danni was disappointed that the photoshoot wasn’t longer. There were so many more interesting poses he had in mind and Excelsior had an entire professional team at their command – it was crazy the amount of them that were relieved when it was done. Danni had tried to make Vision listen to reason but even then, he was overruled and they were ushered out even as he tried to beeline it back. Danni was appeased when they were placed at the long table in front of cameras, both live and recorded, and they got to bask in the limelight once more – even if some of them were clearly trying to egg them on.

Danni! California is regularly plagued by wildfires. This year, thousands lost their homes and were displaced. Where were you?

“Oh well, def in school. My Pops-shout out ta t’e fam best one in the world and I love y’all!-always reminds me t’at just ‘cause I’m learnin’ ta be a ‘ero doesn’t mean I’m ready ta be one so I gotta leave savin’ everyt’in’ and everyone ta t’e experts ‘cause yeah we got powers, but we don’t ‘ave all t’e esperience t’e best of t’e best ‘ave yet, right? T’at’s why we’re in school – ta learn ‘ow ta ‘elp in t’ose sitchs. I mean, ya wouldn’t want a ‘eart doctor ta cut inta your ‘eart wit’out some books under t’eir belt right?”

A follow up – Did you set any of those fires or make them worse when practicing?

“Woooooow. We accusin’ kids of ‘urtin’ people. If you must know, my practice ‘as been in danger rooms, not outside, where people are ready and trained ta ‘andle any emergencies or problems. I’ve want ta go ta t'is institute since I was a kid – I know t’eir t’e best of t’e best and t’ey wouldn’t let students or bystandards get ‘armed! Danni definitely wasn’t going to mention how often superhero students just… ignored the school and did what they wanted anyways.

Danni! Your skin is so good! What’s your routine?” Danni pointed at the reporter in question and beamed. “You’re my favorite, askin’ t’e real questions! Okay so…. The reporters would then regret this question as Danni quickly overtook any particularly aggressive questions with detail recommendations for facial routines.

The next phase was another exciting one: sponsorships. That meant real gear, real work, real press. Danni chatted with everyone and anyone who approached, taking business cards and portfolio summaries and numbers at every turn. Danni knew one thing about this – don’t turn anyone down directly, don’t turn anyone away, and if someone clearly doesn’t want another suit and tie to talk to him, that’s the next person Danni’s talking to. He smiled and smirked and played the room, flitting about like a hummingbird in a flower garden and soaking up attention like sunshine. Danni was more than happy to drop things off with Vision and, finally, the fam (their arrival did in fact trigger another round of excited cheering and roping in the stuffy corporate suits into the frenzy).

One would think that, upon returning to the Kingston-Grey house, Danni would finally come down off his sugar high but after swapping numbers with America and Eli in the infirmary, Danni was determined to show off. They had to be fashionably late and he needed full creative control over his outfit, which meant Danni tore through the house in search of the perfect set. To most, that meant Danni coming in and out of his room a hundred times but at the Kingston-Grey House? This was war. No closet was safe, no accessory hidden enough, every bedroom was an opportunity and he pursued it relentlessly. Casper was dragged into it and the pair tore Danni’s closet, his parents’ closets, and Dorian’s closet to satiate Danni’s need for the greatest, strangest, most stunning fashion statement he’s worn this year. He grabbed styles from Dorian and Max, colors from James and Casper, and brought a number of his own items and begged his Pa to make his vision happen because Danni had to go do hair and make up and everything else still! He didn’t need hours – he needed days!

Danni’s outfit

Danni tucked his phone away in his jacket as they crossed the threshold of the portal. The music and life of New Orleans washed over him and the brief bit of him that started lagging suddenly roared to life once more. It bubbled out and Danni laughed in disbelief. They’d won. They’d won They’d won! He paused a moment outside the restaurant, unable to resist dancing to the street music, before he spun his way inside and thanked the staff as he bustled past. Danni followed the noise out the short walk and grinned. Music started up as the band set and Danni knew he’d absolutely drag someone into dancing with him. He pulled on a little fire, fully planning to burst out like peacock feathers behind him, but he could only manage a short wave and dissipated seconds after rolling past his shoulders. He felt a pang of exhaustion shot through him and he grimaced. Danni supposed he was pushing himself a little too much. They had just won the Contest after all. Danni waved the lingering warmth away and bounced his way to Eli, bopping him on the nose.

“‘eeeeeeeeeeeeeey! I told ya I was comin’! Now what do ya t'ink? Do I look good or do I look good?” Danni flaunted and preened, addressing the table before putting an order in for gumbo and water. He caught sight of Tommy all on his lonesome, shoving food in his face faster than Danni could see. A terrible idea flickered in the back of his head and cackling like a gremlin, he gave in. “BRB! Imma see if I can do a little sneaky sneaky. But I got a question for you so don't go anywhere.” Danni pointed at Patriot, before sulking poorly across to Tommy.

“‘eeeeey, Tommy. ‘ow's it goin’? T'ose were some sick moves out t'ere-” Danni dove for one of the tomatoes and he'd thought he'd been sneaky, waiting til Tommy was distracted, when he found himself a victim that same.super speed and cackled like a mad man in Tommy's head lock. “And ‘ere I t'ought I ‘ad ya! Guess I'm t'e loser tonight, pffft.” Danni cackled, putting the offending piece of food back and trying to wiggle free.

The Statue of Ardyon

Connie, Barty, Jake

“Yes, it is.” Croan confirmed, but offered no further clarification. The look in his eyes was distant, staring out and beyond the statue, and the familiar frown smoothed out into something softer. The vampire was by no means a nice man but for a moment, it was like he forgot he was cruel.

“The magic is as you say, Mr. MacLeod. A tangled, knotted web scattered across the flesh of a fool.”

A Trip through Magic

Willow, Nicky, Callaghan, Cassiopeia

“Excellent, excellent! The library will certainly be the right place to start. You'll need to find the last place it was recorded in history and work your way back - I personally like to start in history, with a focus on politics and art. Movements like this typically shift their cultural markers to fit around it and you'll need to document the book-shaped holes in the narrative as you do.” Mikkail agreed. “You'll also have access to a more private collection on the magical happenings of the century than most students so please discuss with the librarian and they can assist you in getting to it.”

Mikkail turned to Willow thoughtfully. “I admit, I failed to consider that - I was just too excited to have you all! If you are comfortable typing, I will endeavor to procure a method for you! You may have to rely on your coven today but when I find one, I will have it sent to your room!”

Nicholas watched Cal's slight head shake and turned his attention to the exit. If Nicholas had thought Cal was just covering for his mentor, he would have froze the shifter out in a heartbeat. But Nicholas knew Cal well enough to note confusion - the witch wouldn't deny some of it was protecting his mentor, but it was clear they were both in the dark here. Nicholas sighed, not bothering to hide it.

The dragon was going to be insufferable about this.

“Then, let us take our leave. No answers will avail themselves to us here.” Nicholas stood, smoothing out his clothes, and looked at the two still sitting. “Well, come along you two. There is work to be done and you shall certainly do your share.” Nicholas promised irritably, crossing the room, throwing the door open, and heading towards the library without a glance back.

Mikkail watched him leave. “In my experience, divination is an excellent starting point and the perfect way to clear roadblocks during an investigation. I would caution against using it too often - the cryptic nature of the divine often bogs down genuine research. So wield it, but sparingly.” Mikkail advised Willow.

Into the Unknow

Rohan, Finley/Dysphoria, Frankie, Annika

Sariel leaned against the door, watching her Coven start to get into the process of creating their anchor.

“Trees take too much time, we agree. We should make something soft and squishy. What are those things Dewdrop showed us, Darling?” Dysphoria swung back and forth as they contemplated, a tendril snapping lightly on Finley's arms when it came to them. “Fruity Gushers! Yes, we should make a fruity gushers with blood and then when we are done, it will be a rewarding snack!” Dysphoria recommended, almost salivating at the thought. The symbiote offered Rohan a sharp, toothy smile as well.

“Yes, Woodling, let us help you with your bloodletting.” They crooned, a tendril reaching out to caress his arm.

Aster swept in past Zeke, already casting a critical gaze across the cabin. “How in the world could anyone consider this anywhere near ready?” Aster grumbled irritably. Filth coated the floors, dust and spiders claimed every nook, cranny, and corner, and the mattresses and frames were 1940s antiques. He tapped one of the bunk bed frames with his foot and grimaced at the gunk on the toe of his shoe.

“This ought to be condemned. Next we'll find roaches and if we do, I cannot be held accountable for what happens after. I'll need to commit war crimes to make.this place habitable.” Aster stormed across to the twins and nearly set his luggage down before he realized the state of the mattress. He felt his blood pressure rise and his hands trembled. Aster turned slowly and spoke very, very calmly. “Zeke. These bags cost more than everybody here combined. Every mattress is coated in who knows what and there isn't any other furniture I can put these down on. And if I can't start cleaning this place in approximately the next three minutes, I will scream.”

Ezekiel glanced back, watching everyone else head to other parts of the camp. He had expected at least someone else to come with him and Aster, since they still had their bags. Zeke sighed, shifting the bags he still carried. It made sense Nancy left. He would have to get her to run him through the HAM radio later. Although Zeke was glad Demetri decided to go. If Nancy did have a seizure he couldn’t get her back from, Demi was the only one Zeke knew and trusted to radio in help for his sister. There was no way in hell he was letting anyone else stay by her side while she went through something like that.

Ezekiel looked over the space with indifference. It looked like any other summer camp to Zeke, but to Aster, it seemed to be one rung above hell. Zeke rolled his eyes while Aster started to list the complaints about the place. Zeke and his sister had survived worse. Aster would survive this.

”And this concerns me how?” Zeke asked, tossing his and his sister’s bags onto one of the beds and rested his guitar case against the bed frame.

Aster whirled around, ready to tear into Zeke, and paused as he saw the offering. Aster gently placed his bags on top of Zeke and Nancy's, still not thrilled but it was far better than the filth of this place. He felt much more settled and eyed everything with a far more efficient look. “Because nobody deserves this. Everyone deserves to live with some dignity. I guess not that they care about…’ Aster popped his hip and flipped his wrist dramatically. “Us poofs, but gods this is disgusting even for the straights. A delightfully refreshing pace at least. Didn't need to weave around Dobbs at all. Now, let's find those chemicals and I'll get these beds dealt with and this place perfect. I just need bleach. All the bleach. Did Dibbs say where chemicals were? Once I realized he was setting the stage for mass murder of the homophobic variety, I stopped listening.”

Ezekiel stated at Aster's bags. He debated knocking them over, but figured Aster would have a panic attack or set the place on fire. Zeke settled for crossing his arms. He listened to Aster's diatribe, rolling his eyes after.

”Are you always this dramatic?” He fiddled with the bandana on his wrist before heading for the door. Dobbs wasn't homophobic…was he? ”I don't think he said, but I'd imagine they'd be up at the main building.”

“How inconvenient.” Aster clicked his tongue in disapproval as he looked around. The beds could be moved so… he'd ensure he had plenty of space once he started cleaning. He turned to follow Zeke but paused. This was turning into a terrible day, worse than he'd imagined, and he definitely needed something to bolster his spirit. He opened one of his bags and plucked out a small silver compact with handpainted daffodils on the front. He snapped the back shut, carefully opened the compact, and sighed pleasantly as he stared into his own reflection.

Aster could stare at himself for hours-it wouldn't be the first time-and never grow bored. Gazing upon art never grew dull. His eyes were bright and vibrant and expressive, he had cheekbones for days, and a little dimple that still popped up when he smiled just right. And with the flush of exertion the walk up painted pretty across his cheeks…

Aster knew he'd already inspired a few of these poor souls.

Still, the threat of jail and the condition of their sleeping quarters kept him from sinking too deeply into his own eyes and he shut the contact carefully before slipping it into his pocket. “Alright, let's see what we have to work with! Though, remind me to check for thread. If anyone's clothes tear, I'd like to have more than what my sewing kit has.” Aster breezed past Zeke in much better spirits. “And we should probably talk about your boyfriend. Calling you an arcade machine is certainly a red flag.”

Zeke paused by the door when he didn’t hear Aster following along. Zeke was relatively independent, but he was not lugging all the cleaning supplies back for this dude. He turned to get tell Aster to hustle up when he saw the guy staring into a compact mirror. Zeke had gifted one to his mother once after seeing all the women at the club using them. Zeke was half expecting Aster to kiss the mirror with the way he was gazing at himself. ”Do you read Greek poetry?” Zeke inquired. However, his train of thought was derailed with Aster’s next sentence.

”He’s not…we’re not…” Zeke shut the door behind him, fiddling with the bandana again. “I just found out he’s interested on the drive up.”

Aster scoffed, giving Zeke a pointed look. “You just learned he was interested and you're already wearing that? Oh, sweetie. No wonder he objectified you.” Aster said sympathetically. “You don't seem like the kind of boy who wants a whirlwind summer fling and then never see him again. I get please-woo-me, flowers and chocolates and music and easy affection, from you. And your… Well, he seems interested in easy. Stand up for yourself a bit. You're certainly worth more than that. Make him work for it. People forget about the easy, darling. People love the chase and when he catches you, he won't let go.”

Zeke rolled his eyes at Aster, ignoring the butterfly feeling he was getting in his stomach. ”Ya, sure. I don't think us “poofs” get that sort of thing. Especially when you're the bi kid at school and the closeted football players want a go. This,” he said, holding up his arm with the bandana. ”was at least given to me by someone who won't be afraid to be out about it.”

“Settling is unattractive, Zeke. I know sharing a stage with me makes it difficult to truly shine, but you only get one life. If that's what you want, go get i-” Aster stepped back, hands clutching at invisible pearls. “Closet cases? Oh sweetie, why did you do that to yourself? Just because someone is out and proud doesn't make them better than those fools. And while you can certainly settle for whatever you want, no one is going to advocate for you. If romance and love is worth experiencing for you, then it's worth suffering for. Don't settle for a little bit of visability.” Aster gestured for Zeke to follow and headed for the main building.

“Unless you want to be an arcade of course. But give yourself a fighting chance at least.”

Ezekiel shifted uncomfortably, looking anywhere but at Aster. His eyes settled on the main building, thinking about how he trusted Demetri to call out if there was an emergency with his sister, but did he trust him with more? Zeke rubbed the back of his neck, growing at Aster when he mentioned the arcade game thing again. Zeke really hadn't liked that statement earlier, either.

He followed Aster silently, walking beside him. Zeke didn't think he was settling, but there also weren't a lot of options. Besides, Demi was flirting a lot with Zeke on the car ride up, and always came to the music shop where Zeke worked… could there be something more if Zeke asked for it?

”How would I go about doing that? Asking for what I want, not settling, or whatever…” They reached the main building and Zeke opened up the door, stepping back for Aster to go in first again.

Aster stepped through without hesitating. “You have some options. You've gotten past the dangerous part - he isn't going to humiliate or kill you because you're into him. Now you tell him about what you need and your expectations. One, escalate. Start giving little gifts, mini-dates, things like that. Actions speak louder than words they say.” Aster counted on his fingers as he spoke. “Two, and my personal favorite, be direct and say it. Lay the expectations from the beginning so that it doesn't become a problem later on. If he's worth keeping, he'll step up to the plate.”

Aster paused and looked around. Cleaning chemicals could be in the kitchen but… “It's all about confidence, really. Know what you want, see the path there, walk it, and fuck what anyone says about it.”

Zeke let the door shut behind him. He could hear some of the others, but continued to listen to Aster. It wasn't horrible advice, but it wasn't great either. ”Ya huh. And what's the, “we're stuck at a summer camp for community service and can't leave” option?” He glanced around the room, looking for a janitorial closet or something.

“Option 2, obviously. Have that conversation and if he shows his true colors, then you have all this time to enjoy your revenge.” Aster opened any door he could find, until one revealed a small janitorial closet. Aster stepped in and took stock, standing on tip toe to feel around the top shelf. “Ugh, this is terrible. Who cleans without gloves?! Anyways, wouldn't some clarity into his motivations make this better? Otherwise, you'll worry yourself sick, let yourself be treated like a doormat, and no one wants that. Insecurity is unattractive.”

Zeke leaned against the doorframe, one hand extended above his head as he peered into the closet behind Aster. The cleaning supplies were rather minimal. No window cleaner, paper towel…cloths…

”Well, I was fine without clarity. Until I talked to you.” Now, Aster filled Zeke's head with all sorts of thoughts and possibilities. Could he have his first real relationship with a guy? With Demi?

Separating from the Entity was not easy. Zipping around and reminding all his friends he loved them? Amazing. Making one tiny, infinitesimal change in the world? Super. Separating from an eldritch being after wielding power Danni was clearly not accustomed too? Instant regretti.

Magic suuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

Darkness crept in at the edges of his vision. His heartbeat sounded in his ears. The whole world spun and it took everything in him to stay standing. His stomach protested, what little still in it churning violently, and he trembled with the effort it took not to actually vomit on live television. Distantly, he registered people talking and maybe even to him but he knew if he tried moving, it was over. He forced himself to take deeper breaths, trying to even himself out, when a burst of pain flared up his back and everything he'd been doing came crashing down. The darkness swept over him before he could vomit.

Danni heard voices before he saw faces and he groggily blinked in the sudden light, the healer fussing about a bit before pressing some water into his hand and helping him drink. He realized he was suddenly parched and although he tried, the healer wouldn't let him gulp the water down no matter how much he whined. It took more energy than Danni cared for but finally, he was allowed to settle back and come fully to consciousness. He took in his surroundings, seeing Tommy and Katie, Spicy vibing in the corner, and more importantly, Beanie.

It was no little secret that Danni was a clingy guy. He knew it, they knew it, everyone loved it at all times! So Danni saw Beanie's personal space and decided it was perfectly Danni shaped. He swung his legs off the bed and stumbled a little as he lighted himself, padding clumsily across to Sabine's bed and dove right in, snuggling right up to her, throwing an arm over her stomach, a leg across her's, and rested his head on her shoulder.

“Hi, Beanie.” Danni's giggle was quickly taken over by a yawn. He spoke softly, exhaustion leaving him subdued. “Thanks for t'e ‘elp wit’ t'e big mess Dee made. It ‘elped soooooo much, like ya don't even know. Dee was all like I'm sups excited ta be ‘ere in t'is. Unlimited power, blam, blam and Billy was like I don't even wanna do t'is. I don't get invited ta t'e after party and I'm fightin’ stuff no one believes in but wants ta kill everyone so why do we do a stupid contest and it was super intense ‘tween t'em ya know and t'at little bit of Beanie ya gave me ‘elped me keep my head on in t'err ot'erwise yeesh, I don't know if Danni was gunna come out ya know? I know it's been kinda tough t'is week wit’ t'e ‘rents and all t'at, but ya know you're always allowed in t'is noggin’ right? Trust ya til I die.” Danni squeezed Sabine tight before shooting up and shouting at the Young Avengers.

“OMFG you don't get ta go ta t'e after party?! T'at's so mean! Beanie, Beanie we gotta t'row our own party. We gotta…” Danni slumped back onto Sabine, curling back on her. “No, nap t'en party but I'm comin’ for t'e ‘ex girl's left shoes and settin’ t'em on fire. When I ‘ave t'e strength again.”

Nicholas wasn't certain what to do with that. He was well aware that the past liked to catch up; it was why they'd moved as much as they did, but he trusted his magic more than everyone in this room. Illusions, unlike people, never failed him because he knew they were lies. They were reliably false. He could certainly do without Mikkail thieving his original tongue, magically or otherwise. The Professor probably thought it would relax him, lower his guard a little, before he slapped him with another exploitive task. Nicholas decided Mikkail was colorful in the same way an animal was - decidedly poisonous.

Nicholas opted to remain silent and ignore where Mikkail put his book. Instead, he focused on his plans for the greenhouse. He had plenty of little spots to grow things and their journey through China offered him an opportunity to pick up some interesting additions. He'd been particularly interested in astragalus and some of its protective properties in spellwork. Nicholas planned to work it into his illusions to see if it made them harder to dispel.

Still, even as he let his mind water, the sound of chalk on board drew his attention and he slowly lifted an eyebrow. Although the chalk was writing, it was ignoring whatever nonsense the Professor was uttering and scribbling madness across the board. “And he's senile.” Nicholas scoffed under his breath, though the acorn he didn't bother hiding shifted to confusion as a single English word bid them escape. Nicholas revisited the lettering above it and noted the clean, even line work. If it was madness, Nicholas would expect it frantic and intense and messy but whatever this message said, it was intentional. He glanced at Cal, looking to see his reaction.

Well, it seemed like the group had a decent head on its shoulders, taking his lead like they should and backing away from the endless bickering. Aster was sure Marco's idea of a shared meal would help tremendously. That bright head on his shoulders was why he had graduated from tolerable to friendly in Aster's books. “Aster Luixe, the pleasure is all yours.” He introduced himself.

Aster took a long look at the “camp” they were expected to somehow resuscitate. “Had I known we were expected to know black magic, I would have brought another suitcase, Dobbs. How else are children supposed to survive this? If you looked up Health Code Violation in the local statutes, this would be the entirety of it.” Aster scoffed in disbelief. How people spent time out here, in these places, for fun, Aster would never understand. “Well, I will be claiming the boats and all water activities. If we're going to be suffering…”

Aster looked around, disgust on his face, before addressing the group again. “Whatever sleeping arrangements we decide on, I'll be sleeping in that one.” Aster gestured at the cabin most put together. “We can designate another one as the… arcade for anyone who needs one. Now, come along key boy and open the door. My suitcases weren't made for the dirt and I certainly can't start cleaning it if my hands are full.” Aster strode towards the habitable cabin, expecting Zeke to follow.

Danni's rage and hurt embedded away as the Entity reached out to him. Danni could join? Does it recognize him? And… well, Danni wasn't going to say no. Everyone else was freaking out and honestly, Danni thought this was the coolest thing in the world now that he didn't want to fight Dorian for abandoning him for other people. Danni stared at the Entity and he could feel the edges of himself blurring as he touched the Entity's hand, a grin on his face, and turned to face the rest of the stadium.

“Don't worry! Ain't no where Dee goes t'at I can't get ‘im back.” Danni promised, eyes tearing up as Beanie's power warmed him from the inside out. The feeling as he ignited, his form and edges fading away, until only a blazing orb remained and the Entity held it for a beat. The hand closed as streams of fire streaked down its arm and faded into the ink darkness between the stars. The pinpricks of light in its body shifted and moved as the Entity froze and a single bust of light appeared in its chest.

A sun, bright and boiling, burst to life where its heart should be.

Dorian felt the familiar presence of Danni's soul with him. He'd possessed him so many times before, it was like second nature. The instant Danni had fully formed inside the being Dorian came rushing towards him, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him into a tight squeeze. ”Oh may god oh my god oh my god! Danni I messed up!!! Billy and I were ‘avin’ dis epic wizard battle and I ‘ad ‘im on t'e ropes! T'en ‘e tried to Jinx me and I asked ‘im very nicely to drop it and ‘e wouldn't so I tried to possess ‘im and well…” Dorian motioned to everything around him. ”’e's not respondin’ well to the connection so far, t'ere's anot'er presence ‘ere but its like its a part of ‘im, yet suffocatin’. T'en Leah was all ‘Do you recognize us?’ And I wanted to joke around and say ‘noooooo’ but now everyone's all serious and t'e fights ‘alted and I don 't know what to do!”

There was a beat of silence as Dorian took into his breath. Looking back towards Billy's curled up body and then towards Danni. He'd had a thought that had been stewing in his mind, something crazy and daring but that could only be done with this immense surge of power he was feeling coming from Billy. Dorian leaned in and whispered something to Danni, a secret only he could know, one he wasn't allowed to share with anyone else. He pulled away and gave him a look of resolve. ”What do you t'ink?”

If Danni had a tail, it'd be wagging faster than a helicopter blade. He laughed, a strange thing to do in this soup mess, and he wasn't really certain where he started and the other began. Dee's possessed him so many times but this was something else. Dee wasn't just with him - he was him and he was Dee and they were…

Danni brushed against something quieter and withdrawn. He was curled in on themselves, lost in the space between everything, and Danni couldn't help but see how easy it would be to sink into the waves of emotions and sensations that surrounded him. Danni laughed again as Dorian whispered in his ear. “I love it. T'ey'll love it!”

If Danni let his mind drift a little, he could see it all. The stadium outside and Leah taking advantage of the confusion and concern to throw a cheap shot (Give t'em ‘ell, girlie!) and he realized he could reach them all. Here and now, there was no limit and Danni marveled at what they'd become.

The Entity, frozen for a heartbeat as their mind whirled with the new addition, shifted as it rose further into the air. It seemed surprised as it turned its gaze back to the field and its laughter echoed through the minds of all in attendance, soft, affectionate, and light. “And I've been here… Oh! I've been here the whole time!!” The Entity didn't have a face, but its surprise and happiness at the revelation lingered in the minds it touched. “Well then, we suppose the only way out is through and the only way to begin is by beginning, so without further ado…”

The Entity touched down and gathered in on itself before launching itself in the air with a swirl. A pulse of magic rushed across the ground, up the stands, and out beyond the stadium and flickers of starlight followed behind it. It touched down again and took a bow. “Thank you, thank you! No need for applause! We do this because we love it and we look damn good doing it.” The sun in the Entity's chest glowed brightly for a moment before going out. “Farewell for now and remember w-”

The Entity exploded in a kaleidoscope of colors. Wispy vapors brilliant in the colors filled the stadium and enveloped the audience, the teams, and everything in between. Where the entity stood, two silhouettes formed slowly - shadows against the brilliant light.

And in between it all, Danni pulled on the last of the fading power and ran. The vapors took his shape next to April, Sabine, Leah, Andy, and Percy out in the stands and hugged them. All of his fondness and affection, all his determination and pride, his deep trust for his friends and teammates poured out of him even if he couldn't form words in this shattered state. In a flash of vapors, Percy reappeared on the field with a reassuring presence at the back of his mind that he was loved too - the gentle ruffling of the hair - and the moment passed, the vapors rushing back into the silhouettes and Wiccan's body and Dorian and Danni snapped back into focus.

Danni blinked once, twice, and immediately clapped his hand over his mouth, slumped against the wall, and heaved.

The Statue of Ardyon

Connie, Barty, Jake

“The foolishness of youth.” Croan shook his head, frowning in disapproval at Jake. “Your recklessness may have killed you and endangered others - a vague notion is not enough to interact with unknown artifacts safely. Consider those around you before your naivety kills them.” He took on the distinct look of having sucked a lemon.

“However, you are not entirely incorrect. The spellwork maintaining the effect is crafted with the intent to persist in perpetuity. While we cannot identify the source maintaining it, previous covens have confirmed that failed attempts to break the spell only feed it and make it more challenging to break.” Croan offered. "As for your question, I believe the statue is likely playing with your head. It is unlikely he can hear us and from what analysis we have completed, he is alive. I do not know anything about protecting - as you can see the theif is stuck in its own prision."

A Trip through Magic

Willow, Nicky, Callaghan, Cassiopeia

Mikkail watched Nicholas's outburst with mild concern and he let the heavy thud at his feet linger between them for a few moments. He glanced down, sighed, and a rainbow hue traced the veins up his throat from his chest and into his mouth before vanishing. He squatted down, knees cracking loudly as he did, and picked up the book and looked at the name for a long, long while. He contemplated his next words carefully.

“Cha fhuasgail mealladh an duilgheadas gu bràth, Paedrus. An ceann greis, iarraidh an àm a dh’fhalbh a dhìcheall. Tha mi an dòchas gu bheil fios agad dè a tha thu a’ seasamh air a shon nuair a thig an t-àm.” Mikkail stood with a groan and crossed the room, where old and tattered notebooks sat on a glass shelf with star themed book ends. “When you're ready.” He slipped Nicholas's notebook onto the shelf and returned to the board, patting Nicholas on the shoulder as he did. The somberness passed and he beamed at Cassie.

“Well done, Cassie! That is all quite correct and for being the first student to answer a question this year, a special surprise to go along with your notebook!” Mikkail plucked a tiger's eye fountain pen from the air and presented it to her with a flourish. “Im some magical traditions, Tiger's Eye is meant to bring good luck and inspire courage in those who wear it. I hope it does all that and more for you my dear.” He turned and picked up the chalk once more writing underneath the name of their subject.

“The grimoire was copied in such a way that the magic could not be accessed - pieces of spells and rituals were cut out to keep the effects within the religious intentions of the author. It was censored, which I believe to be one reason it was used so aggressively against the witches and magical beings of the age. They remind me of a time when I was across the stars and settled on a little planetoid that was home to exactly seventy three organisms at any given time.” Mikkal turned away from the board, but the chalk continued to write behind him. “Their magic was more a form of shifting energies and pure, unaltered expressions of will rather than our formulas and incantations and such, but the few rituals they did employ were quite similar enough that it intrigued me. Was this grimoire a product of these people? And if so did it merge with the magic of this world's people? Or is it simply happenstance that two worlds, thousands of light years apart, developed the same magic? These questions plague me, day and night, and your assistance will help bring me peace and you new skills in research and investigation, the core of all developmental practices!”

Behind him, the chalk stilled and settled in the tray beneath. Written in a language none of the students knew, five lines of text written in shaky stared back at them. Only one line, comprised of one word, was in english:

Escape

“Now, off-site travel is typically restricted the first few weeks of the year so I would use this time to plunder the library. You'll have access to far more material now that you are in a coven and you are of course, welcome to my own material anytime you wish! It'll be important to determine when and where the grimoire first appeared and then you can slowly follow through time; of course, it is difficult to do that when you don't know which one is the original! Does anyone suppose they know the best way to tackle that particular quandry?”

Into the Unknow

Rohan, Finley/Dysphoria, Frankie, Annika

“Very good, Frankie. One reason is security. As many of you may have surmised, power is the other. The magic poured into a sympathetic construct is far lesser than the magic needed to perform the same effect on the full sized object.” Sariel explained, walking to the center table and holding her palm flat over it. Sparks of magic extended into humming energy and struck into the table. The floor shook as something moved beneath their feet. “Its also a useful technique because you can draw on power, although at significantly reduced conversion efficiency, of other locations to feed into the spell since a single sympathetic construct can represent multiple people, areas, effects, etc. It is incredibly convenient so the question then becomes why not use it for every spell? And the answer is simple.” The center of the table finished rising and a safe door, no taller than 18 inches and no wider than 12, greeted them. Sariel twisted and turned the dial and popped open the door.

Inside, a velvet wrapped chamber greeted them, empty and a little dusty. “Its a vulnerability. Since it is a representation of you or whatever it is symbolizing, sympathetic constructs are an opening in your natural defenses against magical intrusion. I'm sure everyone knows what a voodoo doll is? It's the perfect example. It is why whatever you create must fit in this space, so we can lock it up and then safely dispose of it once you have completed your time with me.” Sariel patted the velvet cushioning. “Now, your task is to complete the anchor and place it in the safe. I will lock it up and then I will cast the spell to activate it. I will be here to supervise and offer whatever guidance I may, but this task is otherwise yours to complete before leaving today.”

Nicholas met Cal's teasing with feigned indifference, pressing his fingers gently where the dragon left marks. It stung pleasantly and if Cal's newest admirer wasn't here, perhaps he'd put on more of a show. However, between the mostly strangers and the blasted name, Nicholas wasn't inclined to play right now. He wasn't certain which footnote of history the Professor dredged it out of but Nicholas had thought it buried and dead centuries ago. Nothing good was associated with it and he'd been quite thorough when he'd run it into the ground and set it on fire when they crossed to the New World.

Nicholas didn't bother hiding his displeasure with the Professor's overwhelming introduction. Everything about him was flashy and boisterous and Nicholas made a genuine effort avoiding those types in his life. He had half a mind to silence the wheels of that monstrosity at the very least, but he kept himself carefully composed as the nostalgia rushed in at the smell of chalk. He'd still been teaching himself when the chalkboard was introduced and while his students were long gone, the instruments of his craft still brought some warm memories. Painful ones too, but if he looked far enough back, he could forget those parts. He glanced down at the offered tea but considering what the Professor offered already, Nicholas decided it wasn't trustworthy.

Nicholas felt himself tense, but soothed himself after a moment as the Professor wrote. On the outside, Nicholas kept himself the picture of indifference. He lounged a little further back in his armchair, threw a leg up over one arm, and rested his chin on the back of his hand as he considered the writing. His eyes flickered over to Cassie as she teacher's petted her way through it, pouring tea with all the grace of a calf freshly birthed (Cal would probably find her incompetency endearing somehow), and Nicholas rolled his eyes but spared no more attention to that mess.

Inside, Nicholas seethed. Mikkail quickly put himself on Nicholas's shit list. The Professor probably wanted someone with first hand experience when he was putting his little group together and Nicholas was certainly less inflammatory than his brother. Nicholas wondered if anyone ate dragon meat - he bet Mikkail's organs would earn him a few pretty favors in the right markets. “Memorialize evil and evil persists. Devils danced with that book for three centuries and you'd ensure its sins persevered? Witches suffered brutality at the hands of those who claimed supremacy over the wicked and the wretched and w- they who survived… They did not do so pleasantly. Explain yourself.” Nicholas picked up his journal and haphazardly tossed it at Mikkail's feet, never leaving his seat or breaking eye contact.

Aster chuckled at his intensity and how quickly he was brushed off. “Don't get your wires in a knot. I wouldn't be caught dead in something like an arcade. I'm not cheap.” Aster knew he'd be poking more buttons like that in the future, if only because this place seemed determined to bore him to death. Dobbs and co. seemed fixated on fighting each other at every turn and frankly, it was exhausting so it seemed Aster would need to be the one to step forward and smooth things over.

“Now, now Em. I think we can all agree no one wants to be here with the sum of present company, Dobbs included, and we can move on without the verbal brawling. Stress causes wrinkles and while I certainly won't have any, Dobbs doesn't need more and none of you want any before you turn twenty. Let's just get to camp, separate from our overlord, and figure out sleeping situations because I enjoy sleeping uninterrupted. Aster leveled a pointed look at Marco and Em and Demi and Zeke. “And, as Dobbs so politely put, we aren't tradesmen and we need to be on the same page about what is possible for us to do before we delegate duties."
