She slammed her cards down, a serious expression etched on her face before she spoke in a serious tone which lost most of its threatening potential due to her slurring,”I am not dumb, it’s called carefree ‘n’ as least I can control my bodily functions. No ones need your flirty crap floatin round.” It was after that that she pulled the large jacket up over her face, her fuzzy mind saying that would help when in reality, little could be done about that sort of thing unless they did as Astrid’s old cap had. Rae could already feel her annoyance at Josk fading slightly which caused a hidden pout on her face to form.

It was about the time that she was debating on leaving the room that she heard an unfamiliar voice echoing in her ears. Her hand instantly letting go of the jacket bunched over her face, plopping it back into place as she glanced around the room in confusion before the words said clicked into place. His hands or neck, have no scars. He’s a brunette that does his hair sportingly, or in other words most days. His nose is characteristically vampire, being medium-sized and a little pointed.

It was a good morning looking for most people, but the best he beset his weary eyes on was a casket that served as his bed He was returning to his fort There were bugs walking around, and the stench was a thing you had to chill with, until you realized the whole place smelled kind of like nothing but pure shit. He sat on his coach, which was a decorative addition Then, he browsed around and nothing was detected. He bent over and started to take his Reeboks off.

He took his hands and picked up both shoelaces and pulled them loose, but one was twisted and he replaced two fingers and unknotted. His socks came off next. He was wearing a Pittsburg Steelers shirt and a pack of black denim jeans. He took them off, everything but his purple jock underwear. He laid back for a moment. It was time to hit the sack. But, first he got up tiredly and went into his bathroom and flipped on the light bulk above the mirror. “My loyalty has often lied with me. I have had partners, but it dissipates. I am not godly. I have killed children. I do not struggle too much, because life is what you make of it. And my life taste life baked trouble pie. But, one day, I will lay my loyalties somewhere. Why? Why me.”

Massachusetts, 1950, Nate is bit. But before he become a vampire talent, he made it to be 25 years old. He had a loving mom and father, and his family was normal. He liked playing sports, and that’s where he met the man who would seduce him. The man who thought his unique abilities and the rights he could afford the young man, the rights to roam the night…

He was on his way to his girlfriend’s house. His dad was driving him, and the whole he way his dad squawked. His dad did not want a grandson. Nate didn’t want a baby. The two were agreeable about it. So, when they pulled up at Tornado St, the street Lauren’s house was on, his dad did not say anything other than bye, and Nate waved him goodbye, too. He was looking at her window when he heard the car squelch and run off of the road. He ran back, but his dad was convulsing and died in a minute.

He jumped up after he placed the back of his father’s head in his arm. He jumped as high as a deer leaping over a broken tree trying to evade poachers could have. Immediately, lurking in the open sight of the neighborhood was some fellow he looked like he was insane dressed wearing a fedora and a hospital gown. He was even dancing. Nate, enraged and hyper vigilant, called out to him and told him he wanted the man’s name, that the man had killed his father. And the man who was thinking about a mad hatter shindig this evening only did a twirl, and then the crazy man was gone..

First responders arrived, and Nate and his girlfriend, and her family, provided all of the information to the authorities that they could. No one had seen him, heard him, or smelled him, whatever! There didn’t seem to be a “him.” For a while, every one was occupied. But, standing there with Lauren stoned a little; he was offered a ride home. Since his family’s car was registered as police evidence, he took it up and climbed in the car. There was police patrolling the area, so Lauren’s mom, Helen, stayed at home.

On their way back to Atlas Dr. is where it happened. Fast. They were near a candy and bread bakery outlet, and Nate rolled his window down and was not speaking, unlike his cabin mates. They were having a small discussion. They wanted to see if indirect therapy helped. It may have, but then the naked mad hatter swooped out of the darkness and ripped him out of the car. He threw him away.

Nate hit the dirt hard. And, he opened his eyes and saw the same jackass standing there. But, now, he had on regular clothing. The demonstrative vampire admitted that he was who murdered his father, and talked about destiny, and this and that. But his question was how Nate saw him. The 25-year old could not understand about it. And, that was it. The bloodsucker bit him, and said he would watch from the shadows. The nights events with Nate being hypnotized. He was no longer humane. He had a new way of life, and above all else he would not speak of any thing he witnessed.

And that was it. Nate hated himself some, but the creatures and monsters that combed through our fears had been around as long as man and none of them had ever returned to humanity.

Luirae giggled at Astrid’s comment about avoiding pissing her off, inwardly thinking that the other woman should have told the Rats that. They might have lived long if she had which caused a new fit of giggles to erupt from her before it instantly died at her next statement. She hadn’t thought of that but with those pricks, anything was possible and it is most likely they would just put everything back as it was. This caused her to pout, leaning back in her chair with a loud annoyed groan before mumbling,”I didn’t fink about dat.” She listened carefully to Astrid’s solution nodding at certain points before pushing up from her seated position in shock, practically sending the chair flying as it knocked over, her body leaning over the table. Rae was close, ignoring personal boundaries a bit as she asked in a fearful voice,”Ne, aren’t dare citizens on the Spire? You wouldn’t hurt ‘em to get at those assholes, right? Cause I’d have to stop....why are you in my face?

She looked confused and slide off the table, shoving the pot back into the middle and looking around as if a bit lost.”Hey, who stole my chair? I was using that. Oh, nevermind, I found it!” she stated proudly, bending over to snag the chair back into place, skillfully managing not to fall onto her face while retrieving it from the ground. Rae plopped back into the chair happily before tossing back another drink, snagging her cards and tilting her head as she looked at them. ”Pssssst! Is dis a good hand?” she said rather loudly, obviously meaning to whisper but failing miserably as she flashed her cards to Aamra.”If it is then don’t tell de others. They’ll be jealous.”

Rae had quite a good streak of wins, up until the Captain expressed to her that it was customary for the winner to drink after the hand was over which meant she had some catching up to do. She had been iffy about it but she noticed that most of the other winners drank so it must be true. That was where it all went down hill for her as Luirae’s fuzzy mind couldn’t keep up with counting. The matter only got worse when strip poker was on the table since she had started off in pajamas. She had lost both her socks the first two rounds before losing her boxer shorts but by luck she had won someone else’s pants though be honest, she didn’t remember who it was at this point except she knew she made a comment along the lines of ‘now I’ve been in your pants’. A short lived victory before being pantless once more and pouting about it.

Her current state was right up there with Josk’s at this point since she was sitting in Raymond’s jacket and her own underwear, her tank top sitting in the pot which had been some amusing rigging to get off under the jacket or had someone helped her, to hell if she knew. She looked to their pilot, laughing and leaning on the table,”Innocent eyes, we has no innocent eyes on dis ship. Hmmm, maybe da little one. Tony, cover her eyes instead.” She whined, half way pointing at Rendyl before swaying slightly to turn her attention to Ray as he spoke. What a dumb question, she was already....oh wait...no, that’s right....she was but they weren’t.

She listened to Josk, a frown slowly etching onto her face till the other spoke about racing which caused a bright smile to light up. The racing sounded like so much fun to try out though she would likely fail miserably. It was lucky she was even able to fly off her home planet. Sadly, she wasn’t going to let the fun thought distract her from the horrid statement of earlier. ”You don’t have taste. This music is rockin! No, no, but serio...sers....but really, um, what I woulds do if I had no rules for a day is set ya all free. It be sad to be alones again but happy to see you happy. I would change da records to say all the time is up.” Rae stated in a slurred mess but a gentle smile still on her features before looking up to the ceiling to think. ”or maybe punch all the committee members in their faces. They are soooooooo annoying. They no listen.” she practically hissed and slammed her hands on the table to further her point, like someone might defend them. If Luirae was in her right mind, she would not be openly showing so much emotion and the words spewing out of her mouth would have been locked away but this was not how it was. The her that was here right now would be an embarrassment to her actual self but that was if she even remember all this tomorrow.
