Writing's a flimsy thing.

I personally believe it's okay to go through a hundred ideas because that's a natural process concerning anything creative. You try something, if it doesn't fit, you move on. And then after enough effort and hard work and a LOT of ideas, boom you've got a gem out of the rocks you've pulled out.

Honestly, especially concerning something that's a hobby, my responsibility is to myself, as a writer, to write what inspires me and what I enjoy. It's not that I have high standards, it's that I don't let myself wallow in mediocrity - concerning my own writing. If what I'm pulling out isn't my all, if I'm dragging my feet, I personally believe it's best to drop it.

OF COURSE. I wholly believe that, that instance you lose your inspiration isn't a signal for you to turn tail, it's usually a big defining moment - I think that's the exact moment where you look at something and you think to yourself, at a rational time of pure lucidity: what is going to pull me out of this? And if you can't find anything, then that's when you decide it's not worth your time. That's when writing, something you do for fun/escapism/whathaveyou, becomes a job. Because, a real gem you find for yourself is going to be able to grab you when you're in a rut and give you the opportunity and the tools to pull yourself out of it.

I've found that feeling, I'm going to say, three times in my years of roleplaying and each of those times have been the most memorable points of my writing 'career', as it were. Put I don't get stuck on it, ever. That was the past and I'm paving my own future here - finding that next gem is inevitable if I work for it. But, people are gonna have more, less of those shining examples, it honestly depends on the writer. As long as you don't start comparing yourself to others, then you're alright. Oh, god, never compare yourself to another writer - that's either an unneeded ego boost or something that's gonna slap a big ol' 'Writer's Block' onto your forehead.

Of course, this my belief and there's always going to be a difference in views (like always trucking through those 'drag your feet' moments in writing; which is an excellent approach, I think. You never know what you're gonna find in the end, to be honest). That's alright. I like sharing my perspective on things like this without getting into an argument. So, that's not what I'm fishing for. @lovely complex just reminded me of how I look at something kinda like what she (??? AAA) said about the 'shotgun rping'. Of course, that's something kinda different.

_{On another note, I find it absolutely fucking hilarious that I'm the exact opposite when it comes to video games, especially multiplayer games. "We should surrender guys," someone would say and I'd hit that NO button immediately and scream, "THEY CAN PRY THIS WIN FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS."}

ON another note. I'm working on my two characters as we speak. Not entirely sure when they'll be finished! ;o

@Altered Tundra Hahah. I'd like to say I'm insane and just enjoy a good story. And I've started to believe in the shotgun roleplaying theory. Where you join a few, give the roleplay a week or two, and see if it lasts. I have strong hopes with this one that it won't die, at least not right away. There will be hype and hopefully we can keep up the hype.

Oh yeah. Theme songs can be a bitch sometimes, but I have to come to terms with they can't always be perfect. I spend hours looking for theme songs sometimes. It's terrible we care so much xD

@lovely complex Yeah same here. By all rights, I shouldn't even join this one, but no one ever said I was right - just lucky. XD

I like to listen to music when I'm writing a character, but when it comes to actually finding one or two specific songs that fits my character to a T, I can't really be bothered at the beginning, but I know putting it off isn't good either. xD

Don't worry — I like doubling up. :D

Theme songs are a tricky thing for me. If I can find the right one, then I consider myself lucky, but if not, then I just set it aside, and let myself get into the spirit of the character I'm making.
