“It won’t be the same without you, Carlos.” Brent said, a regretful tone in his usually powerful, energetic voice as he talked to his twin brother on the phone.
“I know man. I really wish I could have made it.” Carlos replied with a similar sense of regret. That much was clear from where Brent sat. “Had it not been for this conference I have to be at tonight in DC, I would have jumped at the chance to see the old gang again. But hey! At least one of the Walsh men will be there!”
Brent laughed as he saw the hotel/resort come into view. He had been driving for a while now. Unlike most who probably just drove straight through, Brent took it upon himself to make the journey one of luxury and getting there when he got there. He had the benefit of being somewhat from the area but honestly? He wanted to enjoy the journey there. He inhaled the salty air, enjoyed the scenic route of driving as he had casually down the Florida State road, sampled the freshest seafood in all of the Southeast, and most of all, being able to meet some friends along the way.
The reason Brent decided to extend his journey was that he didn’t get the chance to come down this way that often. He primarily stuck to his natural habitat of Palm Beach, so being out here where the sea air was the saltiest and the people were the friendliest, Brent Walsh was going to take full advantage of it. He was a firm believer that you had to enjoy the little things in life to get the maximum experience from it.
“Earth to Brent! Are you there?”
Brent heard Carlos snap into the phone. “My bad bro!” He apologetically laughed. “It’s just so beautiful out here. I’m actually kind of sad that I’m almost there.”
“Wait, don’t tell me you actually drove there!”
The disbelief in Carlos’ voice was obvious even before Brent responded. “Of course I did! I wasn’t going to pass up the chance to see the sights!”
“Only you would find driving and sightseeing as a way to test out that new cruiser of yours. How many miles does it have on it, anyway?”
“Less than a thousand!” He proudly chuckled.
“I bet that changed now, huh?”
“Lemme check real quick and I'll tell ya!”
Brent quickly glanced at the odometer and just as soon as he saw the number of miles was, in fact, less than fifty miles from the 1k marker, which immediately resulted in Brent laughing.
“It’s so close man!”
Though Brent obviously couldn’t see it, he heard his brother sigh deeply into the phone as there was a high wind-like noise from his end. “Well, Brent, hope you have fun at the reunion! Be sure to give that hottie Tessa a nice, tight hug for me! Or ya know, you could finally do what you know you want to and tell finally tell her how you feel!”
Brent slammed on his breaks as he came to the Southernmost House resort, which was so aptly timed with Carlos’ bold suggestion. “Come on Carlo! You’re speaking nonsense! I don’t--”
“Brent, I’m the only person in this world who would know. Don’t think I never found that book of horribly-written poetry you wrote all about her. I’m not going to judge you, but your form needs work.”
Brent didn’t respond. Truth be told, he hadn’t written a single poem about her in more than a year. He couldn’t bring himself to give Carlo the satisfaction in being right -- not verbally, anyways. There was nothing more in this world he wanted than to tell her, but how could he? Where would he even begin? They had a friendship that was nearly on the same level as the kind of friendship he had with his boys. That’s how important Tessa was to him, so would he take a chance with her just on the off-chance she felt the same? He didn’t know.
“Well, as fun as it has been talking to you, I’m here, so I have to go! Have a safe flight and all that and kill it at the White House!”
“If the presence of the idiot president doesn’t do that for me!”
They both shared a laugh and both hung up. Brent gathered up his luggage which consisted of a laptop bag that had his laptop and personables and two medium suitcases full of clothes and general hygiene products. As he then would walk his way from the private parking lot, Brent carried himself like one who was deep in thought. He had a mix of wild emotions and thoughts swirling inside him. He was feeling joy because he hadn’t seen most of his friends in a while. Of course, he saw Jace and Tessa on the regular due to them still living in the area, but as for the others like Andre, Grayson, and Alex, they lived so far away that Brent only saw them on occasion.
And then, of course, there were those he wasn’t looking forward to seeing again.
It was just a combination of a lot of things that eventually made for an uncharacteristically-quiet Brent Walsh. That all changed when he got to the front desk, greeted the clerk with his usual smile and positive energy, and then made his way to his highly expensive room. Oh how it was so pricy. When he initially reserved it, sure he knew it would set him back a pretty penny, but he thought the view would be worth it. Plus, Brent was pretty good with saving and when the invites went out six months ago, every dime and penny he could spare that wasn’t for bills and other such payments made to things he needed went to saving for the trip. In total, Brent managed to save over three grand, so that gave him plenty of spending money should he need it.
After a brief conversation with the front desk clerk, Brent was given his room key and soon made his way to it. On his way there, he didn’t see anyone that he might recognize, so either he was so early that none of his friends were at the resort yet or he was so late that they were already checked in and were in their respective rooms. That thought lingered for exactly three minutes, which was the time it took for him to get to the second floor where his room was at and enter it. At the exact moment he flipped on the light switch, his wide jaw dropped as low as it could.
“Wow…”
That was all Brent could say because it was the only thing that was necessary. Such a blatant display of over-the-top luxury was what he saw. From the bed to the view to ...everything else. Brent was in absolutely, uncompromised awe. On paper, the price didn’t make sense but holy hell on a stick, it was more than worth the price of admission. If this was going to be his room, Brent could only speculate what the rest of the place was like.
“This is going to be a fun weekend!” Brent hyped himself out, letting out a louder-than-intended battle cry as he proceeded to unpack and hum happily.
Jax ⚡ The Crimson Bolt ⚡ 27, Male ⚡ Twinleaf Town, Sinnoh
Appearance:
Throughout his life, Jackson has always been criticized for his golden hair and eyes that tend to match it, if not a shade or two darker. But as he grew up he went from being too clean-cut to rocking a spiked style. When paired with a more muscular body, the scrawny kid from Twinleaf Town became a force to be reckoned with. And to say that he sprouted up is an understatement. As his best friend, fellow Twinleaf rival, and brother from another mother would vouch, in his teens, the then-4’11 Jax shot up nearly a foot and a half in one summer. Now a proud 6’3 and culminating over 250lbs of overall body mass, Jackson “Jax” Drake is not one to be trifled with, especially when it comes to hoodlums such as the now-defeated Team Plasma
There has always been a sense of comfort when it came to Jax’s approach to his outfits. As a new trainer, he usually sported a white T-shirt, red sweater hoodie, and black pants, but as the years went on, he matured his style until he was fairly certain what was his true identity. In addition to a muscular body, Jax became obsessed with showing off his goods. Something about pride and wanting to be complimented on it drove him to do away with the jacket altogether. He still wears black pants like he usually did, though he may be seen with blue jeans as a common substitute. As far as shirts are concerned, however, it’s sleeveless all day every day, babay! He also wears heavy-duty boots that are perfect for when he takes his summer vacations in the high alps of Mount Coronet.
During one of his training sessions, Jax’s Jolteon (on Jax's command to show he was one with his Pokemon), told Jolteon to shock him. It went as horribly wrong as one might imagine and the result of that was, at the time of this particular incident occurring, a nasty wound centered around his right eye. Surprisingly, he didn’t lose any permanent use of that eye. He was blind for about a year and his constant reminder of that fateful day is a lightning-shaped scar above and below his eye. Aside from that, he has a black tribal tattoo on his left arm.
Personality:
“Never judge people from how they appear.”
A sentiment that couldn’t be any truer than when thinking about Jax. He is the embodiment of there being more than the borderline-arrogant, confident man who favors over-the-top theatrics and passion than modesty. He is the sort of person who has always been high on energy, which has almost been at the point of being too much for people to handle. Whether it was the lightning bolt he took from his Luxray or the number of times he has been hit in the head, there’s no denying that Jax can make any melancholy situation light-hearted with his electric feels.
Now, don’t get anything twisted. His high energy doesn’t mean he is without compassion. In fact, since he has such a bold presence might indicate that he feels more than anyone else in the Elite Four, because it’s true! He might be the first to annoy his fellow Elitists but he is also the first one to be there when they need a friend. He, along with his childhood friend Bryan, is also the first one to be on the frontlines in any regionalized threat, such as the past problem with Team Plasma. This is just a sign of his hero complex. And sometimes that resulted in him missing out on getting badges before his friends/rivals. Nevertheless, he made it to where he was meant to be!
Short Biography:
From the moment he could muster up a single thought, Jax’s life had always centered around Pokemon. It was as predictable as one might assume: grow up in a world with pokemon and you’re gonna want to explore said world as much as possible. And that’s what Jax did, but he wasn’t alone in this. He had traveling companions but above all else, he had a childhood friend who always pushed him whenever he pushed just a little too hard. They fought, they went on pre-trainer adventures in the tall grass even though they shouldn’t have, and when the time came for them to venture off on their own adventures, they became Pokemon Trainers.
For a couple of years -- well, more or less seven years -- Jax was active in the Pokemon League scene. He went to the gyms, collected the badges, persued the dream like all did to become the Pokemon Champion. Though he never got the championship itself, his losses taught him a valuable lesson: he was never done being a student. So, at the advice of his mentor, a former Elite Four member from the Hoenn region, Jax decided to travel for a few years. He went anywhere and everywhere: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova. Anywhere he could to discover new things about himself, he did them; and he would say he was better for it.
Sometime in his early-20s, now a seasoned veteran and a second-place participant of the Silver Conference, Jax returned home a different man. Those who might remember him wouldn’t recognize him. He was skinny when he left to journey the other regions, but having fought foreign enemies, made foreign friends, and caught and seen Pokemon he only heard in stories, the man who returned home was ready to give it one final shot. With a team comprised of Pokemon from all over, Jax made one final attempt at the Pokemon League. Gym after Gym, he obtained the badges and fought whoever wanted to challenge him. Then came the time. At the prime age of twenty-four, he didn’t do it but experience and skill paved the way for Jackson Drake, the Bolt of Sinnoh, to be granted admission into the most Elite of the Sinnoh region: The Elite Four. With his powerhouse team that was equal parts power and speed, a new man was brought to the region.
Jax Drake had made it.
“Let’s have a shockingly good time!”
Pokemon:
Name: Blaze Species: Infernape Gender: Male Ability: Blaze - Enhances fire-type moves. Appearance: No unique features. Personality: Blaze is what you would call a pokemon who acts long before thinking, which Jax was the same when he had Blaze. Both are bold, both are impatient, and both will fight until they can't any longer. So obviously his oldest pokemon is the truest representation of Jax. Hasty, Bold, Rash Move Set: Sword Dance - Learned through ™ as Monferno. Close Combat - Learned through natural evolution as Infernape Fire Punch - Learned through ™ as Infernape Flare Blitz- Learned through natural evolution as Infernape
Name: Elektra Species: Jolteon Gender: Female Ability: Volt Absorb - Absorbs all eletric-type moves that boost special attack and mildly heal overall health. Appearance: Has a dark yellow coat of fur instead of the yellow lighter shade most Jolteon has (but it's not a shiny). Personality: [Give a couple of adjectives that describe the Pokemon] Despite being an electric-type, Elektra is quite calm and mild-mannered. She also is quite timid and might not engage like most Jolteons. She's also pretty modest despite being one of Jax's strongest pokemon, but she's proud too. So there's that. Move Set: Agility - Learned through natural evolution as Jolteon Wild charge - Learned through natural evolution as Jolteon Double Team - Learned through TM Shadow Ball - Learned through TM
Name: Ripper Species: Skarmory Gender: Male Ability: Keen Eye - Prevents accuracy from being impaired and also ignores the foe's general evasiveness capabilities. Appearance: No unique features or changes from other Skarmory. Personality: Ripper is energetic and loud and quite brave. He is equally adamant, which is another way of saying he's quite stubborn but he responds well to Jax's commands, so it is always obeying his command (aka docile). Move Set: Metal Sound - Learned through natural evolution. Steel Wing - Learned through TM Sandstorm - Learned through TM Night Slash - Learned through natural evolution.
Name: Raina Species: Gliscor Gender: Female Ability: Hyper Cutter - Pokemon is immune to strength/attack reduction. Appearance: Queen's armor is almost a lavender color as opposed to the male's deeper purple shade. Personality: To be quite frank, Queen is very lazy and rarely wants to do anything, though that doesn't mean she isn't capable. She's fiercely powerful and equally proud of her strength when she wants to be. She is definitely an extension of Jax's own pride in himself. As a result, there's a part of her who can act quite mischievous while bordering on impish. Move Set: Earthquake - Learned through TM Sky Uppercut - Learned through natural evolution as Gliscor Toxic - Learned through TM Taunt - Learned through TM
Name: Polo Species: Poliwrath Gender: Male Ability: Water Absorb - Absorbs all water-type moves and heals itself from damage taken. Appearance: No differences whatsoever from other Poliwrath. Personality: Polo is a bit of a loner and when approached, he can be a bit nasty to others. Jax is the only one it is calm near, but otherwise it will fight those it has been near for years. Unless given a command, it will stick to its own devices, but when in battle, Polo is hardy and refuses to give up. Some call it foolish but other might just say it's adamant on winning. Move Set: Focus Blast - Learned through TM Ice Beam - Learned through TM Poison Jab - Learned through TM Scald - Learned through TM
Name: Thor Species: Electivire Gender: Male Ability: Motor Drive - Electric-type damage increases speed. Appearance:
Personality: Thor's somewhat of a comedian. He's very showy in that he takes after Jax in liking to gloat a bit. Safe to say, it's not very modest and quite proud of its own strength. In a fight, much like Blaze and Polo, it's quite brave and stubborn. It has the same light that refuses to go out that is a mutual trait that is shared with Jax and the rest of his team. Move Set: Thunder - Learned through natural evolution as Electibuzz Flamethrower - Learned through TM Ice Punch - Learned through TM Electric Terrain - Learned through natural Evolution as Electivire
Summary: If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.
Other:
Jax is proficient in martial arts.
Regularly goes rock climbing.
His usually unstable pokemon follow him because he leads with example.
Has a particular lean towards those energy drinks over natural beverages
