@AimeChambers Speaking of which, the regent king is almost finished. I'm using "de Hiertania" as a placeholder until we have a canon surname for the royals.

@AtomicNut I'm aloso looking forward to see a reserved Lucrecia reconnecting with her rather brazen son.

She'd probably break down in tears and try to hug her son. Cause no matter how emotionally stunted she is, she lost her other son. She would probably even conjure rain over the capital to reflect her mood.
I also apologize for all the silly names (Andromalius) and probably changes in the canon for actual royal descendants. I can settle with modifications and changes aswell.
@AtomicNut

There could be girls that are disowned princess commoners that go magic apeshit, but they would also have less power than their grandmother.

I like the idea that she basically used force to be the queen, though, she probably would have assassination attempts on her a lot.

She didn't use force per se to reassert herself. She just basically tagged along her beloved and happened to destroy who threatened him. Retainers probably stood a few steps back when they realized who they were trying to bully.

The assasination attempts were the reason why she left once she made sure her children (the King and Regent) were properly raised.
@AtomicNut

Um... well basically, magically is extremely frowned upon in Hiertania. They are different, therefore they must be destroyed is the mindset. If you want to have some princesses, they would probably be disowned by the people, especially now that the king is dead.

No, it's just that the thought of a princess going magical apeshit is hilarious. Poor Andromalius probably strained the thing a lot with "mom, imma marry a witch instead of a noble family, k?" in the eyes of Hiertanians. It probably took Lucrecia to deploy lightning to fight for the kingdom to turn it into begrudging acceptance as their queen.
@AtomicNut

So, she's pretty good. The only things I would probably change is that she would be really the only magic user left on the continent. There isn't much magic in the world in the first place, more like genetic enhanced abilities, so she would be one of the only of her kind of people.

Does this means that the royal princesses (who are her grandaughters) can have magic if they wish to, and they'd be unopposed? XD

Edit: Made some edits to drive that fact.

Whew, that was a chunk.
@AtomicNut

I don't know why he needs the life elixirs and stuff, but I think the character will work! ...He won't do much unless he goes out and comes to the castle if you want him to be a character though.

...Sorry, I'm not that good at seeing posts without a mention.

NVM. It happens to the best of us. But I think it might be to make a Witch Queen instead... (Just because I found a better picture). She would be coming to the castle back from her forest just because she caught notice one of her sons died and the other, the Regent is involved in a rather messy situation. Her reason for departure is because she was never a sociable person in first place, and she hated the palace, so she left when her husband died. Also because she's a witch and people usually don't like those. How's that sound?
@RyouguCoolbeans. Nice!

Anyway... is the idea workable?@AimeChambers
Sure.

I imagine it was the er, the king of Hiertania from two generations before, aka the grandfather of the Princes, who surprisingly is still alive and kicking. Eternal Life potions and magic may have been involved.

Unlike his son, his reign was characterized by turmoil and war. He did his best to keep his citizens and retainers safe, but he was not very charismatic and gained a ghastly reputation, probably not helped by the fact that he dabbled in occult stuff and any kind of thing that would give him an edge against the threats of the kingdom. His title of Witch King was entirely deserved.

So he made a difficult decision when his sons were of age. He abdicated the throne, as someone who had so much blood in his hands and reign was not fit for ruling during peace time and sentenced himself to a life of exile, trying to find the answers to philosophical questions, and helping those in need, as an atonement for his past war sins. Of course as events as they are he might come out of hiding. He could feel guilty that the Second Crown Prince most likely used some of the alchemic treatises he left in the palace.

Edit: Can also make a Witch Queen if it flows better :D
Hmm, This has somehow caught my eye. I'm thinking on a bit of unorthodox idea...though.
