Evangeline looked outside through her window. Seeing the vast blue seas had a calming effect on her ever since she first moved into H.E.R.O. One. The past few months passed by like a blur as well. She was too busy doing as much as she could, doing missions left and right, helping out at HERO whenever she could. She thought that if she did a lot of good stuff for the organization, maybe they'll be enough to compensate for all the bad things she did.

She looked over at a vase of flowers on her desk, a bouquet of peonies and carnations given to her by HERO for the Director giving her his stamp of approval to become a full-fledged hero. She'd like to believe she'd done a great job taking care of them all this time, but the edges of their petals were starting to wilt. She watched as a petal peeled off from the carnation and slowly fell to the desk, the first of many that will eventually come.

At the television screen, it showed reporters showing live scenes of festivities at New Athens. So many people were there to celebrate the festival. The TV was muted but she could imagine the people's cheers and laughter filled the air along with loud joyful music.

Just watching them made Eva tired. She wanted to join the others there but she wasn't really a fan of crowds, especially when everything was televised and her previous victims might recognise her. She wasn't the flashy type of superhero either, she's fine working on the sidelines and giving everybody else the spotlight. She didn't become a hero to be famous after all, she did it to atone for everything she and her family had done.

Just then, Eva noticed a message was sent through her HERO smartwatch where a hologram of the Director made a message:

"Attention, heroes. I need a group of you to assist me at the Johnstone Convention Center. If you are available, please come and meet behind the stage. You will be rewarded for your time."

She sighed, thinking that there's no turning away from facing what she dreaded. She stood up and gave herself a final lookover at her tall mirror. Since September's pretty chilly, Eva was wearing a bone white trench coat with matching pants, and a black turtleneck underneath. The sleeves of her turtleneck could be tore off in case she needed more open skin to generate more poison in an emergency. Hopefully she wouldn't have to.

Eva was then making her way towards their transport system to be with the others at the convention center when she noticed the Assistant Director outside near the waters, trying to catch all the papers being blown away from her arms by the wind. Eva managed to catch one as she approached her.

"Let me help you with these, Miss Duff." Eva said, leaning low to get the scattered papers Emily couldn't get. "Oh I remember, there's also going to be an orientation for the new heroes. Is that why you're not with the others at New Athens?" She asked, looking around nervously before asking Emily again. "If you don't mind, I believe I'll be a bigger help here than at Castleburg. Crowds aren't really my thing and with the event being televised, I would probably get recognised by my... previous victims." Eva asked with a stoic expression on her face as usual, unsure if even the Assistant Director knew the extent of Eva's past crime life.

Some would even outright say it to her face since they also thought she didn't care, and that's fine. She can't control how others think of her but what she can control is how she reacts and what she does. For now, Eva just keeps all her emotions in then cry for an hour in her room when she couldn't handle it anymore. She holds on to a pendant her late younger sister made for her as she weeps her sadness away, then composes herself to face today's challenges. She does always choose to do the right thing, but it's proving difficult when everyone keeps fronting their judgment on her.

As for the things that make her happy, they'd have to be children shows: a talking dinosaur, a green monster singing about a party in his tummy, cartoon animals making imaginary adventures in their backyard, and a whole lot more. She wasn't given a chance to enjoy her childhood so watching those shows now never fails to put a smile on her face. It's the only time she feels completely at peace and safe. She can feel the sincerity from them, the genuine passion to entertain and educate children, and hopefully make the world a better place with their songs and dances. They broke into several houses, posed as hired models to steal from bachelors and high-profile celebrities who were too blinded by fame and fortune to do a background check on them.

They would've continued on for years, stealing from one man to the next, if Eva didn't screw up their last target. Her mother and sisters punished her for even the littlest mistakes, even treating her more as a maid than as a family member. Her last major screw up made her writhe and cry in pain as they punished her with their paralyzing toxin.

Instincts kicked in and she tried attacking back, shocked that instead of the usual toxin, Eva countered with an acid spray that left burns on their bodies. She always felt that she's different from her family, that she could do more than what they forced her to conform to. She felt horrible for what happened so against her mother's wishes, she called 911 and they were caught at the hospital as soon as they recovered.

Eva would've been thrown into jail too, but H.E.R.O. stepped in. They must've known about what Eva did along with how completely remorseful and sorry she felt, especially when she fully recounted every single person and group of people they stole from. She was offered a choice: become hired by H.E.R.O. to become the type of person that could help people, or go to jail.

So here she was now, fully focused on fulfilling her missions, saving civilians, and making up for her family's mistakes. Unlike at her house, Eva was trained to fully harness her powers by the company under strict supervision of her trainers. They wanted to give her the choice to do right by her, and it's the type of freedom she didn't know she longed for all these years. She thought that, by choosing to do the right thing, she could find forgiveness for everything. Maybe Evangeline could forgive herself too. Someday.

Mitsuaki always had a problem with authority as he wanted to do things however he wanted, whenever he wanted. It wasn't like he was purposefully doing things that will give the adults migraines, he's just a rambunctious little bundle of energy that's hard to contain. Despite that, Mitsuaki had a heart of gold whose always willing to lend a helping hand to the other kids. He's prone to fights because he's fending off the bullies sure, yet he'll carry a baby bird fallen on the ground back up to its nest on a branch no matter how high it was. That will change once his mother was involved and he'll be ruthless in making sure she's safe and sound. Quitting was never in his vocabulary; he's as stubborn as he's determined to overcome all the hurdles in his way and to see things through the end no matter what it took.

History:

Mitsuaki grew up in the slums of Japan. His mother was an entertainer in the red-light district and his father, as Mitsuaki would guess, was a blonde fair-skinned man who didn't even know of his existence. She never really talked about the man that much and Mitsuaki was okay with that. It's always been about him and his mom against the world. Since getting fired from the district, she's been working all kinds of jobs just to provide for the both of them. Living in an age where aliens existed and humans weren't the only beings in the world, all that kaiju mumbo-jumbo was useless to them since they're too busy keeping a roof over their heads and those kaijus won't bring food on their table. No matter the hardships, Mitsuaki admired how she still spent as much time with him as she could in her very limited free time. While he couldn't help but be envious that other kids had it easy, Mitsuaki was thankful she didn't leave him just like his father did and made the effort to be there in his life. Their life was hard but they had each other, and that was what's important.

Unfortunately, his mother ended up in the hospital due to almost overworking herself to death. Their debts grew and grew, and they were being threatened to be kicked off their unit when they couldn't pay the landlord. They were wrecked with despair and anxiety until a doctor approached them with an offer after hearing about their problems: in exchange for a fortune and payment of all their hospital bills and debts, Mitsuaki will be recruited to be a test patient for a new 'medicine' that could help save the world. His mother was against it but even she knew she couldn't save enough money to save both of them now because of her condition. Seeing no other choice, Mitsuaki accepted the deal. This time, he'll be the one helping his mother.

He was taken to the CETM in Tokyo where he along with various other 'patients' underwent experimentations. One by one, their numbers dwindled. Mitsuaki forged deep friendships with most if not all of them, and he grew devastated when his friends suddenly disappeared the next day without any explanation until all that was left was him. He was so close to giving up but thinking about his mom, what she sacrificed for him to live a better life reforged the fire within him. Eventually, he became a scientific breakthrough as he was the first human who could successfully transform into a kaiju and back into human at will. There's still a long road ahead of him but Mitsuaki was determined to see it through the end no matter what it took. He was Metatron and Metatron was he. He will fulfill his duty to protect the Earth and keep on fighting for the people in his life, both here and beyond.

Kaiju Name: Metatron
Combat Focus: Metatron is adept at dishing out long-ranged attacks on many targets at once. It is also capable of providing support to other kaijus by healing them.

Origin:

Since the first incident of an alien attack on Earth, scientists took as much data as they could from the Vega alien in an attempt to create their own protector. It would harness the powers of this cosmic being while staying true to their human nature. Many attempts were made, trials were done, and despite the number of subjects the scientists had, only Mitsuaki emerged successful. They initially wanted to create their own version of Hyper Man but something in the Vega's system made it impossible to be reshaped into any other body frame except for its original. The scientists did the best they could to do a few alterations to make the kaiju look 'friendlier' and 'more relating to Earth and humanity', but it would take a while for humans to get used to it since Metatron looked very much similar to the Vega alien that killed thousands

Abilities

• Horn of Gabriel - Metatron lets out a supersonic scream that can deafen and incapacitate enemies in a wide area around it. The force of the scream is powerful enough to blast anything away and shatter rock.
• Charity of Raphael - Metatron manipulates the ultraviolet and radioactive energy it absorbed to heal other kaijus and itself. It can also solidify the energy to form protective barriers.
• Brilliance of Uriel - It can conjure multiple spheres or 'eyes' made of bright fiery light and energy that fly around its body, striking many targets at every direction.

I would imagine Mitsuaki's thoughts and feelings about turning into a kaiju would be disgraceful at first since he's an organic-based host and every transformation he does will be much painful. He's also a bit narrow-minded since he still thinks these are all just a very effed up side hustle to help give his mom a better life. Once he broadens his horizons and look at the bigger picture, I reckon he'll discover more on what it truly means to be both human and alien in nature. He'll find out he only barely scratched the surface on discovering Metatron's true capabilities are, and he'll definitely think about why he's the only one that can handle the Vega alien's system in his body.

Combat Focus: Metatron is adept at dishing out long-ranged attacks on many targets at once. It is also capable of providing support to other kaijus by healing them.

Origin:

Since the first incident of an alien attack on Earth, scientists took as much data as they could from the Vega alien in an attempt to create their own protector. It would harness the powers of this cosmic being while staying true to their human nature. Many attempts were made, trials were done, and despite the number of subjects the scientists had, only Mitsuaki emerged successful. They initially wanted to create their own version of Hyper Man but something in the Vega's system made it impossible to be reshaped into any other body frame except for its original. The scientists did the best they could to do a few alterations to make the kaiju look 'friendlier' and 'more relating to Earth and humanity', but it would take a while for humans to get used to it since Metatron looked very much similar to the Vega alien that killed thousands

Abilities

• Horn of Gabriel - Metatron lets out a supersonic scream that can deafen and incapacitate enemies in a wide area around it. The force of the scream is powerful enough to blast anything away and shatter rock.
• Charity of Raphael - Metatron manipulates the ultraviolet and radioactive energy it absorbed to heal other kaijus and itself. It can also solidify the energy to form protective barriers.
• Brilliance of Uriel - It can conjure multiple spheres or 'eyes' made of bright fiery light and energy that fly around its body, striking many targets at every direction.

I would imagine Mitsuaki's thoughts and feelings about turning into a kaiju would be disgraceful at first since he's an organic-based host and every transformation he does will be much painful. He's also a bit narrow-minded since he still thinks these are all just a very effed up side hustle to help give his mom a better life. Once he broadens his horizons and look at the bigger picture, I reckon he'll discover more on what it truly means to be both human and alien in nature. He'll find out he only barely scratched the surface on discovering Metatron's true capabilities are, and he'll definitely think about why he's the only one that can handle the Vega alien's system in his body.

Sleeping and Dreaming

Name: Oba Keitaro

Gender: Male

Personality: There's nothing really noteworthy about Keitaro's personality. He's an honest chap who goes about his day with a relaxed smile on his face, greeting everyone: humans, dogs, birds, even the ants and the trees. Like a cloud with legs, Keitaro is as soft-spoken as he is gentle with his actions, and he likes to help people to the best of his abilities.

While he may be normally lax, Keitaro becomes fully energized when doing things he's most passionate about, namely cooking and trading card games. Even his family are afraid of him as he turns into a different person once he steps into the kitchen or while he's in his TCG playing mode.

Backstory: Keitaro's dad was a famous action movie star and his mom was a renowned stuntwoman in the film industry. They met while filming a future blockbuster hit and they're enthralled with each other ever since. Unfortunately, an accident occured while filming a movie that made his mom lost a leg. Even after the traumatic accident, his mom never fell out of love with her passion and she still worked as a stunt coordinator. It's something Keitaro really admired about his mother.

His classmates often took advantage of his kindness to get close with his famous dad and it took him a while to learn how to put boundaries for himself. He often got bullied a lot when he learned to say no along with the fact that Keitaro's not like his family at all. His dad's always in top shape, his mom still manages to be fit despite her disability, and his little sister was already looking like she'll follow their dad's footsteps. Keitaro really tried his best to be physically active, pushing himself to go on little walks and jogs with their dog and his spunky bundle of energy of a little sister. Despite his efforts, he never really saw himself being that kind of person.

Instead, he opted to be in the kitchen learning how to cook. While he may not be in ideal shape, Person thought he could at least support his family's fitness journey by feeding them nutritious and healthy food. He still felt guilty about not being passionate about fitness as much as he wanted, and his parents often remind him he's still a wonderful son.

Besides, Person's physique is the ideal, peak form of coziness and cuddliness in his family's eyes.

Skills: With the help of his mom, the family cookbook, plus a lot of tutorials on the internet, Keitaro has become an efficient cook. There's something about cooking that really piqued his interest, but it's mostly seeing his family's satisfied smiles on their faces after eating that really made him passionate about cooking. Him being a card gamer is something his parents never expected out of him either. Keitaro did win a few small local tournaments here and there, and he could spend hours just talking about his favorite cards.

Lastly and it's still debatable whether this can be considered a skill or not, but his family claims he gives the best hugs in the world.

• Contract Abilities: The Baku is a supernatural being created by the gods from spare pieces of all other animals after their creation. The devourer of nightmares, the Baku is the symbol of safe dreams and restful sleep. Its image is also depicted in charms and talismans to ward off evil spirits and protect humanity from bad dreams.
  
  Keitaro manifests a censer with a cloud motiff that emanates violet 'dream mist'. The dream mist puts humans to sleep when inhaled along with low-levelled Grudges. Higher level Grudges will have their spiritual energies burned instead, weakening them to the point of exhaustion. Keitaro can then absorb those sleeping and weakened Grudges in his censer, converting them into positive spiritual energy in the form of multi-colored mist. This mist can soothe the heart of the sleeping humans and grant them sweet dreams for the time being. It can also heal Contractors' injuries when inhaled.
• Cost: While Grudges are enough to sate the Baku's hunger, sometimes it may crave for more. When Keitaro sleeps and when the Baku is not satisfied with its fill, it will take his astral projected form along for a ride to go to places where peoples' nightmares are darker and richer. He'll be forced to experience that person's nightmares while making sure the Baku will only devour those nightmares and not the person's ideals, aspirations, and dreams in life. Keitaro will forget most of it when he wakes up, but he will still feel tired like he just ran a marathon.
