The USS Orion is on a special mission to Romulus with Ambassador Spock to engage in a Peace Treaty. The Orion will depart in two hours (IC time). Currently the last of the supplies are being loaded on board.

The War is in full swing and so far every signs points to the Federation losing. But there's still hope.

Star Trek: To Boldy Go

These are the voyages of the starship Orion. We will continue to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before.

About:

The year is 2374 and the ongoing war with the Dominion is in full swing. The Federation and the Klingon Empire have entered a cease fire to join forces against the Dominion. The Dominion have allied with the Cardassians and taken over Deep Space 9 and the Bajoran system including the Bajoran wormhole. So far the Empire and the Federation have only suffered losses in their encounters with the Dominion. The worst was when the Seventh Fleet tried to stop the incursion in the Tyra system which resulted in the loss of 98 ships.

However, the Federation, with Klingon assistance, is mounting an attack to retake Deep Space 9 and the wormhole. The Federation can't afford to lose or else Vulcan will fall to the Dominion. Already the fleet there is nearly defeated. Overseeing the attack are Captain Benjamin Sisko and General Martok. The Fleets slated to be involved were the Second (from Vulcan), Fifth and Ninth (Comprised of Klingon ships).

We are not involved. USS Orion is currently being utilized as an escort ship for Ambassador Spock as he continues his work with the Romulans.

• 2368:
  - The Klingon Civil War that began in 2367 ends.
  - Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge develops a tachyon detection grid in order to detect cloaked ships and reveal the Romulan involvement.
  - The celebrated ambassador Sarek of Vulcan dies at the age of 204.
  - Ambassador Spock works to unite the Romulans and the Vulcans.
  - The first test of the soliton wave is conducted near Bilana III.
  - A peace treaty is established ending the centuries-long war between Krios Prime and Valt Minor.
  - The Romulans experiment with interphase cloaking technology, but fail to perfect it.
  - Starfleet introduces the Danube-class runabout.
• 2369:
  - Montgomery Scott is discovered to be alive, suspended in the transporter buffer of the USS Jenolan.
  - The Cardassian Union ends its occupation of the planet Bajor, which lasted fifty years.
  - A Cardassian sneak attack on the Federation system Minos Korva, staged in the McAllister C-5 Nebula, but is thwarted, leading to Captain Picard being freed.
  - Commander Benjamin Sisko and Lieutenant Jadzia Dax discover the Bajoran wormhole, the first stable wormhole known to exist.
  - A crucial victory is won for Spock's reunification efforts on Romulus when Vice-Proconsul M'ret defects to the Federation.
  - The crew of the USS Enterprise-D, along with Romulan, Klingon, and Cardassian interests, deciphers the last work of Professor Richard Galen, revealing that a race of ancient humanoids is a common ancestor of most species in the Milky Way Galaxy.
  - On Earth, the quadricentennial of Apollo 11's landing on the moon in 1969 is celebrated.
  - Another variant of the Starfleet uniform is released, this time with the entire outfit black except for the division color on the shoulders.
• 2370:
  - A second Borg incursion into Federation space begins. It is defeated by the Captain Picard and the USS Enterprise-D.
  - Standard warp drive is discovered to have detrimental effects on the fabric of subspace. A program is launched to develop a safer means of warp travel, which is first incorporated on the Intrepid-class.
  - Kathryn Janeway is chosen to command the USS Voyager.
  - A group of Federation colony worlds declare an unofficial war on the Cardassian Union after rejecting the Federation-Cardassian Treaty. They call themselves the Maquis.
• 2371:
  - Starfleet introduces a new combadge with a gold rectangle with a cutout oval in the center replacing the gold oval.
  - The Federation, as well as the other Alpha and Beta Quadrant powers, become aware of the Dominion threat after the USS Defiant returns from its mission to the Founders' homeworld in the Gamma Quadrant, the home of the designated leaders of the Dominion.
  - The starship USS Equinox disappears, pulled into the Delta Quadrant.
  - The starship USS Voyager departs Deep Space 9 on a mission to find the Maquis raider Val Jean. They never make it.
  - The Maquis member Thomas Riker steals the USS Defiant and uses it to expose a Cardassian military buildup in the Orias system.
  - With help from Bareil Antos, Kai Winn and Legate Turrel sign the Bajoran-Cardassian Treaty.
  - The Romulan Star Empire sends Ruwon and Karina to DS9 to take possession of Starfleet's data on the Dominion. This was agreed upon earlier in the year, in exchange for allowing the USS Defiant to operate a cloaking device.
  - Dr. Tolian Soran uses a trilithium weapon to collapse the Amargosa star.
  - The Cardassian Obsidian Order together with the Romulan Tal Shiar are lured into a trap, when they attack the Founder's homeworld in the Gamma Quadrant. The following battle leads to the complete destruction of the combined Romulan-Cardassian fleet of twenty ships and severely cripples both organizations, which, in turn, reduces possible resistance against the Dominion by the Federation and the Klingon Empire.
  - The Bajoran Shakaar Edon, a former cell leader in the Bajoran Resistance, becomes first minister of Bajor's provisional government.
  - It is revealed that the Founders of the Dominion have infiltrated the Alpha Quadrant.
• 2372:
  - Starfleet introduces a new style of phasers and tricorders in this year.
  - Convinced by a Changeling posing as General Martok that the Cardassian government had been infiltrated by the Founders, the Klingon Empire invades the Cardassian Union. However, the United Federation of Planets objects to this action, causing Chancellor Gowron to withdraw from the Khitomer Accords, ending their alliance. At the end of this year, the Changeling posing as General Martok convinces Gowron to take further aggressive action, causing the Klingon Empire to annex the Archanis sector from the Federation, thereby starting an open war between the two powers.
  - The Bajoran wormhole undergoes an inversion that occurs once every fifty years.
  - The Klingon Empire attacks three Romulan outposts along the border.
  - The Antwerp Conference is bombed. An investigation reveals that the bomb was placed by a Changeling. Benjamin Sisko is temporarily reassigned to Earth to serve as Chief of Starfleet Security, in charge of preparing the Federation for a possible Dominion invasion.
  - Admiral Leyton stages a military coup by taking advantage of the current Changeling scare. The attempt is thwarted by Benjamin Sisko and Odo. Leyton resigns his commission, and Sisko and Odo return to Deep Space 9.
  - The Korma Conference was scheduled to take place in this year, however the outpost hosting the conference was destroyed by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey.
  - The USS Enterprise-E is launched from the San Francisco Fleet Yards.
  - Captain Benjamin Sisko takes the USS Defiant to the Founders' homeworld.
• 2373:
  - After the real identity of the Klingon General Martok as a Changeling is revealed, the war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire is ended with a temporary cease fire.
  - The Dominion invades the Alpha Quadrant.
  - The Cardassian Union officially joins the Dominion. Because of this the Dominion was able to secure both the wormhole passage and a power base in the Alpha Quadrant
  - The Klingons invade Ajilon Prime, breaking the cease fire. The USS Farragut is destroyed by the Klingons while protecting the colonists of Ajilon Prime.
  - Starfleet Command declares the USS Voyager officially lost with all hands.
  - Starfleet introduces a new uniform design which quickly replaces all uniforms in use, with gray quilted shoulders and department color indicated by the undershirt and the cuffs on the jacket.
  - Another major Borg incursion, the Battle of Sector 001, takes place.
  - With the Dominion as their new ally, the Cardassian Union successfully puts an end to the Maquis rebellion in the Demilitarized Zone.
  - The Dominion signs non-aggression treaties with several powers, including the Romulans, Tholians, Miradorn, and Bajorans.
  - The Dominion take control of the Bajor sector including the Federation space station Deep Space 9 at its crucial position next to the wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant.
  - The Dominion War begins.
• 2374 (Current events):
  - The Seventh Fleet fails to stop the Dominion in the Tyra system. Only fourteen ships from a fleet of one hundred twelve make it back to Federation lines.
  - The USS Defiant successfully destroys a Dominion sensor array in the Argolis Cluster.
  - Operation Return is beginning to get underway.
  - The USS Voyager briefly reestablishes contact with the Alpha Quadrant via the use of a Hirogen communications network.

Goals:

As a GM my goal is to introduce fun, new environments (with a few nods to the TV series and movies). I welcome input and suggestion for directions the RP can take. This will be partially sandbox, I wont force direction if all the players take initiative, but I'm not afraid to be rather heavy handed if I think the player run direction is floundering.

I do have a first arc planned, but it's malleable. _{Things never run as planned.}

You are allowed more than one character. You can have as many as you can handle (Unless it gets out of hand).

How I'm choosing characters going for the same position:

• If I have two finished characters who both want the same position I'll decide based on their skills and will choose the character that will benefit the ship most. The remaining character will be allowed to be under them.
  • IE: Years in Starfleet, Prior Training, Age and In The Field Experience
  • EX: Two characters vie for the Chief Medical Officer. Character B gets the spot. Character A can be either a nurse or just a regular Medical officer.
• Person A's first character is the Helmsman and A wants their second character to be Chief Engineer. However person B wants their first character to be the Chief Engineer. I would give the spot to person B because they don't have a prominent position yet.

Kori is a very attractive young woman. She has classic facial features and padding in all the right places. She stands tall at six foot one. She has the orange skin tone common to Tamarans. She also has bright green eyes with no pupils. When she is exceptionally emotional or using her powers, her eyes glow. She has very, very long red hair. When she uses her powers it appears trails off into flames. However this is merely an illusion.

Powers/Skills:

Tamaraneans have different physiology from Terrans. Due to her race she has certain powers:

• Energy Absorption: Tameraneans can absorb solar energy from birth. The ultraviolet radiation is what powers their other natural abilities. Kori can also absorb the ultraviolet radiation from other life forms. This energy subsitutes all need for air, water, food and sleep. Though Kori does enjoy all of those things.
• Flight: Tameraneans convert their ultraviolet radiation into pure energy which they use to fly. Their flight leaves behind a distinctive trail, much like a comet. Kori's trail emanates from her red hair.
• Superhuman Durability
• Superhuman Strength
• Space Travel: Tameraneans, Kori included, can also use their power to fly through space not just on their planet. Kori's speed in space is extremely fast. Almost as fast as a Green Lantern can travel.
• Lingustic Assimilation: Through physical contact a Tameranean is able to absorb the language of the touched individual.

Kori also received powers from her time as a prisoner of the Psions

• Starbolts: While in the hands of the Psions they preformed experiments upon her. A result of one of them are her Starbolts. The ability to channel her absorbed energy into highly concentrated solar energy blasts. She can also releases all her energy at once in a quasi-nova blast but it's uncontrollable so she has never resorted to it.

Other than her extraordinary abilities Kori is a a skilled warrior due to her own natural abilities

• Hand-to-Hand Combat: Kori was trained by the Warlords of Okaara, the best fighters in the Vegan System.

Backstory:

Kori was the middle child of the royal family. Her older sister, Komand'r, was the successor of the Tameran throne. Or would have been had she not been plagued by a disease. A disease so terrible it had no name but robbed the unfortunate soul of their natural ability to convert ultraviolet radiation into energy. Komand'r was flightless. And so it was decided that Komand'r could not be a successor and the title passed to Kori. This created the tension and hatred between the two sisters. Komand'r resented her sister for being what she could not. When the two young girls were sent to the Warlords of Okaara to learn the art of War and the Humanities Komand'r's resentment grew and grew.

Kori took the the training very well. She absorbed it like a sponge. Unlike her sister who struggled. Then one day Komand'r was no where to be found. Kori worried for her sister but continued her training with the Okaara. She had her duty to her people. A while passed until she was recalled by her father to Tameran. He didn't tell her what for and Kori hoped with all her heart that nothing was wrong.

Upon arrival at the palace Kori learned the terrible truth. Tameran had been attacked by the Citadel! The Citadel were conquerors. They had enslaved twenty one planets in the Vega system and now they had apparently subdued beautiful Tameran. In exchange for the Citael for not enslaving the defeated Tameran they handed over Kori to them. It was only then she learned of her sister's involvement. How Komand'r had betrayed Tameran to the Citadel because of Kori. And they both paid the price dearly.

For six years Kori and Komand'r were tormented and tortured by the Citadel. When they finally released them it was only to give her over to the Psions. The Psions were cruel scientists who reveled in pain and unethical experiments. They wanted to see how much energy the Tameraneans could absorb until they blew up, amongst other tests and experiments. One of the last experiments the Psions ever preformed on Kori was the one where they gifted her with her Starbolts. With her new powerful weapon Kori broke free and killed her Psion captors.

Kori was tempted after her escape not to free her sister also, but her love and mercy couldn't let her. She set Komand'r free from her torture. But instead of being grateful Komand'r used her new abilities to nearly kill Kori and restrained her for execution. But Kori wasn't helpless. She took the first opportunity she could to escape. That escape lead her to Earth and Dick Grayson.

The two fell into a whirlwind romance after the young woman kissed him to learn his language. Kori knew in her heart that Dick would be her true love. She also grew to know that Dick didn't seem to feel the same. Her fears came true after their almost wedding where they broke off their relationship. Kori was devastated but she loved Dick enough that she would let him go.

Without Dick Kori's mind turned more and more to the planet of her birth. Earth was a nice place, but it was no Tameran. People were so uptight. They hid their feelings and didn't follow their passions. She felt constrained here and the feeling wasn't pleasant after years of captivity. But she didn't feel safe returning to Tameran. Her sister was out there somewhere searching for her, of that she had no doubt. And her family wouldn't protect her. They'd proven that before when she was only a young girl.

Yet Tameran called to her. She tried to push the pull away but with her denial of her feelings came guilt. She was acting more like a human ignoring her feelings. With that realization Kori returned to Tameran. Upon arrival she realized Tameran was at peace. Her sister was ruler of Tameran and while her initial rise to power had been barbaric the young woman had changed her ways and was now a just ruler. Even her mother and father supported her as Queen.

Kori was beyond thrilled that her family was back together. There was even a new addition in the form of a little brother, Ryand'r. Kori had no plans to return to Earth. She was home and things were finally okay. She even feel in love and married Ph'yzzon, a general. Then the worst came again. Not even a year later Tameran was attacked by the Psions. Both Kori and Ph'yzzon lead the armies against the scientists. But to no avail. Ph'yzzon died. Tameran was imploded. What was left of her people scattered to the stars.

Kori was adrift, literally and figuratively, she had no home and her love left her again. As she floated in the void of space she came to realize she did have someone to return to. Earth.

Motivation for joining the League?:

After returning to Earth Kori quickly learned the news of the League's disappearance. They were a major force in stopping her re-abduction after her escape all those years ago. Seeing the loss resonated deeply in the Tameran who had just lost her world. She couldn't let this one fall either.

What do you bring to the League?:

Kori is a heavy hitter. She also is a skilled leader and tactician who has both formal training and real life experience.

Also, @MrDidact are you cool with Donna and Kori being bffs? Edit: Apparently I had Kori crashing at Donna's place :) This can be changed. In fact since the RP has already started I might reintroduce Kori as she just returns to earth.

@HalfOfLancelotYes! I don't limit characters. Take as many as you want, within reason. Just make sure you can handle whatever amount you choose. (Though if it does get out of hand I will step in.
