I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.
Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.
RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.
As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.
RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.
And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.
Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.
Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...
Music

Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity Is correct, news media in the US is quite unreliable. I actually don't follow it because it is all fear mongering or attempts at gaining favor with a particular race/sexuality by reporting "social injustice." They are also correct in that people can often continue to function even when they should be dead. Adrenaline is a powerful drug, and there are accounts of people being shot center mass as much as fifteen times and still being able to function. They never survive of course, but still, sometimes you gotta empty the clip into them to be sure.
@JunkMail@tsukune I had the honor of having one of my stories looked over by an editor from marvel. There was so much red ink when he was done with it... it was a very humbling experience that I'm glad I had. I think everyone should have an experience like that in their arsenal.
But what I'm concerned about is not that people are voicing their opinion about a particular post, but that so many people are saying the same thing. I don't think that level of repetitious criticism is warranted on the first post in an RP, certainly not before the "offender" has had a chance to confirm if they are going to take the criticism to heart or not.
Well, some people really live for the trolling. if you have someone like that and a professional victim, there's always going to be drama. But some people like it I guess.
And speaking of trolling...
Just kinda curious since I haven't officially joined any role plays yet, but is this normal?
In particular I'm talking about 4 comments down were everyone and the GM take turns picking apart a user's post. I read the post, and their criticism isn't wrong, but it feels a little excessive? Wouldn't this have been better taken to PMs where everyone involved could have saved face?
Doing future stuff in a mid-evil setting would be tough. In that regard, i agree with @Dinh AaronMk. Technology from the future tends to be built on other technology. You can't just have a computer, you need a way to power it. So now you have power stations, but you need to be able to build the power stations. You then need people to run the power stations, and people who can build/acquire everything it needs. You want phones or internet on top of that? Now we need to be able to create cable, run cable, and people to understand all of this. A far simpler solution would be just to make a device that resembles a computer that neatly fits into the fantasy setting. Maybe there's a tablet with runes etched into it that rests in front of a lake, and the lake's reflection changes as "commands" are entered in when runes are pressed.
Dystopia is another genre you might be interested in. This genre deals with crumbling societies that can feel mid-evil, but posses both magic and some advanced technology. Hunger games is a Dystopia world.
I have yet to go on a forum and see a discord or any type of group chat be a good thing.
Best case scenario: The chat is frequented by toxic users, and they post on the forum less. But when they post, they often bring their chat room drama with them.
Worst case scenario: The chat is frequented by better users, and they stop posting in the forum.

Yet at the same time, I need to know how the GM decided to deal with that. Did they try to get back at you, or did the assassin quietly disappear with the GM's dignity?
@NekoMizu I suggest you do some research on google about what people are discussing here. Particularly Steampunk and the stuff Aix was talking about. you don't need to read the entire wiki page, but it'll help you understand what a genre is. Steampunk is most certainly not future anything though, despite having technology that has never and will never be invented.
You also need to state what "the way you are thinking of" representing a "modern/future/past" world is. I've seen post-apocalyptic settings where it's the future, but due to resource shortages people rely on modern and old technology. Is that what you're talking about?
I am in the understanding that steampunk is like a future/past mix, but what about modern/past mix? Heck, what about all three combined? Would those still be considered steampunk or would it have a new name entirely? Has the idea of mixing modern days with medieval ages been done. Probably. If so, then can you tell what has done this?
If we're going to be super duper technical...
While Steampunk is considered a sub-genre of science fiction, it often takes place in an alternate past where industrial steam powered machinery progressed a lot further and became mainstream. So it's not science fiction because it takes place in the future, but because these worlds rely on steam powered machinery that never existed. Science fiction is actually defined by the scientific advancements of it's world, which are usually in the distant future.
As for a modern/Sci-fi/Fantasy mix, the closest things I can think of is Magic Realism.
As Aix said, the Japanese love to do modern fantasy. It's hard to look at an anime list and not see at least one like that.
