Being a living statue gave one a complicated relationship with museums. CBMNH was a bit of an exception because it was under the domination of an ancient mummy named Nephren-Ka who was the pride of the Ancient Egypt collection. Vicky had done the ancient pharoah a favor by standing watch while her minions had brought bags of white powder from the harbor to the museum.

Vicky watched the clock hands turn with childlike wonder. How happy it must be to know its purpose and turn to tell people the time. She wished she had tha kind of clarity. The men were getting close before she noticed them. She turned her head, fascinated to find new people in the park. She liked it because there were other statues here, the fountain had three beautiful nymphs who Vicky hoped would wake up one day soon. THey would have such fun playing in the fountain.
