@KatherinWinter I think we were waiting on @1Hawkeyes to finish off what Agent had to say, but I think you all can go on ahead and start up on your own thing.
Been a hectic week here, been helping my father with renovations and haven't had much time to myself, but yeah I was a bit surprised to see only a couple posts on here. I'm ready to move ahead if everyone else is.
Kurtis Kowaleski was called Crusher for a reason. Even before he underwent the genetic therapy that gave him his abilities, he had built up a reputation in the world of underground fight clubs as a man who held nothing back, who didn't stop until his opponent was nothing but a bloody pulp on the floor. That reputation had led him to his employer, Mr. Kreiger. He was forever grateful to the man for pulling him out of poverty, and for putting him to work doing what he loved. He had sworn an oath of loyalty until death, so when the opportunity came up for him to become stronger, nearly invincible even, he accepted immediately. All to better serve the man who had saved his life.

He had not considered the side effects.

Everything was so strange when he first woke after the procedure, like he was seeing the world for the first time, but yet knew what everything he saw was. He found himself unable to express any complex thoughts, words turned to mush in his mouth and he resorted to grunts and moans, like a child. Over time, he had re-learned to speak, but his brain couldn't comprehend anything above a simple sentence. He bore no ill-will towards Mr. Kreiger. His mind had been compromised, yes, but his body had never been stronger. He became an exceptional asset to Vigilance, with a 100% mission completion rate, who reported only to Mr. Kreiger. He intended to continue that tonight.

Crusher had turned his attention away from the small woman who had tried to fight him, back towards the loud man who made his ears ring. Before he could move, he felt something wrap around him, and then suddenly he was falling. He thrashed about on the floor, finding himself suddenly cocooned in a spider's web of netting, the more he struggled, the tighter they seemed to get. He roared in anger and frustration, unable to free himself and finish his mission.

'Let them go Kurtis' his master's voice said in his head 'Keep struggling until they leave, someone will be along to free you before the police arrive. Your mission was a success, you've broken him down. Reaper will recover yes, but he will remember this night. And in any case the two of you will meet again.... you won't have to hold back then'

-------

Reaper was nearly unconscious when Crusher had pulled off of him. He had felt himself being lifted, his body screaming out in pain.

'If this is what death feels like, it's not as peaceful as advertised'

A voice spoke to him from far away, he couldn't understand. What felt like an eternity later, he felt the sensation of weightlessness, and became aware of hands on him. He was being lifted again. A voice swam about in his head, female. Not so much to him but about him.
"....an we take him?"
He struggled to breathe, to speak, finally he managed a barely audible gasp.

"Van. 1209. Key... pocket. 5....49 Church... Churchill Place"
His lungs seared and he passed out again.

The feeling of motion roused him. He sensed he was lying down, the pain had only intensified, everything ached, he needed to scream, shout, or curse, but he just couldn't. A face came into his limited field of view, familiar, like someone he had met in a dream. He blinked his one open eye, and he saw her staring down at him. He forced air inward and rasped out, trying to speak to her.

"Sarah... I'm sorry"

Darkness.

3 DAYS LATER

Gentle sunlight hit his eye. Slowly but surely, Reaper came to. He was lying in an unfamiliar bed, clean white sheets flowed around him. He surveyed the room. Very plain looking. A tv in the corner on a dresser. A nightstand on his left, a metal tray with medical tools on it. An unremarkable chair by the door, and an I.V. rack standing next to the bed, a line of tubing coming from its bag to his arm. He felt pain, but significantly less than it had been before. He tried to speak, but his mouth was so dry that he erupted into a coughing fit, punctuated by deep dry heaves. After a moment, the door burst open and a man walked in with a glass of water. He set it down on the nightstand.

"Good morning Captain, glad to see you're still with us"

He helped Reaper into a sitting position and handed him the water. He found his voice and looked at his savior, one eye still stubbornly refusing to open.

"Leo"

Leo Ramirez was a former medic in the military, honorably discharged. When Castle knew him, he was a Corporal, these days he went by 'doctor'
"Don't try to get up Logan, your body took quite a beating, it's gonna be a few more days before you're even able to stand"
"How long have I been out?" he asked in response
"You've been in and out of consciousness since you showed up, but it's been three days since your friends brought you"
"Not friends exactly... more like kids tryin to get themselves killed"
"Isn't that your specialty?" Leo fired back accusingly "Last I heard truck's aren't criminals, so quit playin in the streets"
"Heh" Castle grimaced "Still funny. Wasn't a truck I'm sure you know, but it goddamn felt like one... Can I at least go home? I'm sure Heather's upset about all this"
"Absolutely not. In a couple days, yes, but not yet. And even then, you gotta stay off your feet for another three weeks, two at the very least. One of your fr... those kids left a number. She's gonna come by to help move you home once you've healed enough. So rest up for now. You might be able to hold down solid food by now, I'll check in with ya in an hour" He turned to leave.

"Wait just a second. What happened to that guy, the one who did this?"
Leo smiled "I knew you'd ask. Recorded the news the other night, figured you'd wanna see, got it all cued up to the right spot and everything"
He tuned the DVR to the news recording and hit play.

"... received a viewer video this morning depicting events at the scene shortly after the costumed individuals escaped with the vigilante known as Reaper. As you'll see here, the giant, still unidentified, man comes out of this unmarked warehouse escorted by a hooded man. The pair stepped inside a black SUV bearing no discernible plates and sped off into the night. Police arrived at the scene approximately sixty seconds later. If anyone has any information that may lead to the arrest of this man, you are pleased asked to call Treaft PD's anonymous tipline at the number currently displayed on screen. For Channel 5, I'm June Weatherly"
So there I was, all ready to craft the post, and an aunt called me to ask a favor, so it's gonna be delayed for a couple hours, but I won't keep you all waiting long!
@kingkonrad

Good enough to give me a springboard to jump us into the action. I was waiting to see if anyone had anything to post, but doesn't seem like it. Either way, I'll get us ahead to the mission proper next post (whether that'll happen tonight or tomorrow remains to be seen). Lost story short for any of my delays until Nov. 30th (That @ONL already knows about)- A streaming service here in Canada that offers a lot of great shows not available on our Netflix is going offline on November 30th, so I'm trying to cram in as much as possible before then. Right now I'm near the end of the 2nd season of Vikings (only the first 3 are on here), after that I've got 1 13-episode season of a show called 12 Monkeys and 7 seasons (thankfully short, though I may still not finish it all) of a comedy called The League. Both come highly recommended from some friends, so it's unlikely I'll watch a few and then go 'this isn't for me' and drop them. I will be keeping up with the rp though, so never fear!
@KatherinWinter If you aren't comfortable with using Crusher, I could probably whip somethin' up for him, a reaction to the nets and what not.

In fact, @1Hawkeyes@King Tai@Simple Unicycle unless you guys had anything else to add, I could kind of close out this encounter and move us ahead to the next bit of the plot, if y'all are cool with that?
@KatherinWinter Just about to respond with exactly what @1Hawkeyes said, Crusher's here for this opening arc. In fact once you guys pull Reaper out and escape, he's showing up in like 3 more posts tops. He's not so much a character as he is a plot device to bring the team together, so no worries!
@KatherinWinter@King Tai

Did you guys catch my last ooc post? You guys have free reign to control the villain to move this encounter along quicker!

JB nodded at the quite unusual looking Englishman was was to serve as his 2IC.
"Great to finally meet you Bastion, I reviewed your dossier just last night. Impressive resume you've got there, at least going off what's there to read. But so we're on the same level, I agree with you 100%, I have no idea where half these kids came from. JSOC saw something in them I suppose. So that leads me to the first favour I have to ask of you. Mind running things up front on this one? I'll keep close watch on the youngsters, make sure we don't have to carry any of em out in pieces on our first op"
The first few recruits were making their way back from the armory, he'd figured he'd have a few minutes of privacy with Merlin, but alas.

"I'll give em the full lowdown once we're in the air, just wanted to test their reaction time to a fast mobilization with little intel" he chuckled. "Once that's all done we can continue this conversation. Go into specifics and all that. We better get loaded up"

He nodded with a smile at the young recruits who had gotten back quickly "Alright, we may be shipping out a little early, if everyone else is ready as quick as you guys! Hang here for a minute while I grab my kit, be right back"

JB eventually decided on a tried and true M9 as his sidearm, and an M4A1 with M68 Close Combat Optics. Overly standard loadout, but given his decided role in this operation, he thought it best to roll light. After securing the rest of his gear and applying his own layer of facepaint, he headed back up to the muster point and called up to the tower, see when their ride would arrive.

20 MINUTES LATER

All loaded up and aboard the helo. JB distributed a box of earpieces.
"Here we go, non-standard issue, they're encrypted to a secure frequency just for us, multiple channels to use, also makes things hell of a lot easier trying to talk on one of these things. Now don't get too comfortable, we're gonna be at our first destination in about an hour, we'll unload onto another boat, a smaller cruiser, then grabbing a couple Zodiacs to head ashore. We got some shots from UAV recon of the area. Place looks pretty benign, hell, doesn't even seem like a spot worth defending, but we'll see that for ourselves once we get up close. The place is usually occupied by a militia group that goes by Valverde, or something to that effect, they're relatively small according to reports from local authority, numbering around 30. Those same authorities reported a dozen or so men that fit the description of the Valkyries. Command wants us to recon the site first, and if the intel was solid, move in to engage. If we can take one alive, we will, otherwise we'll scrub the site for additional intel once it's cleared. Wizard and I are gonna examine the layout and discuss the strategy, and decide the best way to tackle this. We'll continue this once we get boots in the sand."
He sat back down and handed off the photos to Merlin to begin discussing tactics.

----

Once the Captain had taken his seat again, Adam noticed for the first time he was sitting next to a fellow Canadian. He had decided on a C7 for himself as well, though he also had a SPAS shotgun slung over his back, he like to keep it handy for the close encounters. He outstretched a hand to Blacktail.
"Adam Delgado" he said "Though I suppose once we land I'll be going by Joker. Whereabouts are you from?"
@KatherinWinter@King Tai@Simple Unicycle

I mentioned it to Hawkeyes last night, but I'm just gonna go ahead and give you all permission to use Crusher (the villain), he's not essential outside of this little arc we're doing.

Quick rundown for anyone who hasn't seen his CS, super strength, unbreakable bones, and he can harden his skin at will. He doesn't speak much, but if he does, simple sentences (the line from my post 'Had enough little man?' is literally the most complex line he can muster). The nature of his mindset would lead to him being easily distracted/unable to focus on multiple targets, which is the plan here. Apart from the fact he has to survive this segment completely unharmed, anything else is fair-play.
