I go AWOL for a couple of hours to attend a concert in a little town of 90 people or less (don't ask, just accept that there are towns that small here) and all hell breaks loose. Yeah sure, I'm a little intoxicated right now, but that didn't stop me from nearly having a heart attack just now when I saw the notification there were 25 new posts in the thread
@Simple Unicycle

"Well, I've got an objection to your claim there Ace" Carver glanced over his shoulder, checking to see if Kira had walked in. She hadn't so he continued "Because, I'm married to the finest woman in all the galaxy"

He shot a cocky smile towards the pilot and navigator. Seth, as per usual, didn't have much to say, he just awkwardly rolled around in his chair and began pouring over a star-chart.
"Well, anyway, now that I've settled that we can get back to work. We gotta get out to Serros Station, the Revenant is meeting us there in a day or two. When we approach, assuming the pirates haven't blown the place up and they still have something resembling a port authority, just tell them we're stopping in for a resupply, rather than any other kind of business. I'm getting a weird vibe from this job, and I'd rather not leave a trail someone cold follow and figure out we were involved in what's about to go down"

"Yeah, come on in lass, haul up a seat" Grayson said, setting down his tools and clearing away some space for what he had to show her.

"So, first things first, I finally got 'round to finishing off the repairs on your armor. Bit of an improvement if you don't mind my sayin'. I got ahold of some carbidium-titano alloy and fashioned it into plates to cover up the exposed joints and more important bits like along the spine and such. Damn stuff is nearly invincible despite how light it feels, you won't notice it a bit. You shouldn't have anymore troubles that require ya to ditch your armor in the field, I'll swear my life on it."

"The other thing has to deal wi' that visor of yours. It got knocked around a little in the blast last week right? Well, I took note of a few things about it while I was gettin' it back up to 100, like the parts used, and how it's wired up. Tried to figure out how it worked basically, just in case it even needed to be completely replaced. Well, anyway, to get to the point, I couldn't sleep last night because a pair of ideas hit me, one after the other, and I had to get up here to sketch it all out just in case I forgot when I woke up. I figure with a bit of tweaking, I could do something similar to what I did with the armor, plate up the important bits, make it pretty well indestructable, and counter-weight it, so you don't notice the extra heft too much. So I was thinkin' that if you're up for it, I'd do that now before we hit the ground again, and we could chat a little while I worked"
@Azereiah Welcome back! You might've noticed by now an offhand comment where I mentioned that every inactive character was knocked into a coma-like state. For Ren, I internalized it as a crossed wire during the ship repairs overloading his systems and forcing a reboot, you can drop me a PM later if you want a recap of things, but honestly it's been pretty straightforward.
@Tickout

"Well, I guess if there's nothing else...." Stryker trailed off as he finished his coffee "I won't keep you all any longer. Maxi, you mind if I follow you up to the med bay? Wanted to check up on the others"

@BKburke

"Tobi, I'd like you to follow me please, we have work to do" SAL spoke as he walked away. Whether the other robot followed or not, SAL was headed straight for the tech lab to begin preparations on some upcoming projects.

@Xandrya

"Hey Amy" Grayson said tiredly as he rubbed his eyes "Got a little somethin to show ya in the Armory, when ya get a chance that is, I'll be in there all day, so drop by whenever yeah?"
@BKburke This is why I shouldn't check in here before bed. I gotta hit the sack soon because of work in the AM, but on the other hand, I really want to post now. Didn't even get a chance to pop on here earlier in the evening to mention that I had an idea for something Tobi and SAL could do to kill some time, if you were up for it- weapons calibration test in the virtual reality framework.
@Silver Carrot Yeah I didn't really leave much for the rest of you to respond to did I, guess that's what I get for writing at 4am. I'm thinking maybe unless anyone else's character has a question about the mission, we pair off for some character interactions, just long enough to get some lingering business taken care of, build on our interpersonal relationships while I take care of a little bit of behind-the-scenes stuff. The action is not far away, I promise!

That said, the crew is a looking a little light these days, Rultaos, mackielars, and Azereiah have been gone for 3 months and there's no real sign that any of them are returning soon. PlatinumSkink has also been in contact to announce that they're leaving the rp, though at this time, I'm not sure if it's a temporary or permanent departure, so Lataniva will be relegated to NPC status for the time being. Still 9 of us here, so we can make it work, although, if any of you have friends that might be interested, go ahead and invite them! And if there's nothing left to add to the current scene, I'll pop back in a little later on to break up the gathering and move us along a little!

"I'll keep it in mind Tibulus" Stryker said, directing his voice towards the comms unit on the table "As for your questions Taleste, I'm sorry to say I don't have an answer right now. The orders for the mission were included with the supply drop we picked up at the same time as you, but as per usual Alliance bullshit, the data cube has a firewall locking me out of all the real details. Until we pass by a safe relay where they'll transmit a code to lower the firewall, what I just told you all is all I really know unfortunately"

The Maelstrom soared effortlessly through space. It used to be an Alliance stealth-recon vessel before it was "commandeered" by it's current owners, who, at that particular moment, were rousing from their slumber to begin another glorious day.

Captain Alessio Carver woke to the gentle rustling of the bed covers shifting aside, he glanced sideways to see his wife and executive officer, Kira, slipping on some clothes.

"Mornin' baby" he said, sitting up and leaning over her shoulder to plant a kiss on her cheek.
"Good morning" she returned as she adjusted her top "Coffee?"
"Yeah that'd be great, I'll join ya in a minute, just gonna check in with everybody"

Kira exited their cabin as Alessio hauled himself out of bed and got dressed himself. As he walked out of the cabin he glanced to his left to see Kira busying herself in the galley as she chatted with her brother Marcus, the crew's combat specialist. The three of them had served together during the Corvais War and had continued working together as guns for hire after it's sudden and unsatisfying end. The Captain wandered through the crew quarters, nodding a good morning to the twin sisters Juliette and Jennifer Thane, the ship's engineers, as they walked towards the bathrooms. As usual, the good doctor Gudbranssen had slept in, no doubt he'd stayed up too late again fine-tuning and taste-testing his latest batch of homebrew. He let the man rest and walked on, headed for the ladder to the upper deck. His cantankerous quartermaster, Robert Vulcaan was already up and about in the Armory and grunted a half-hearted 'morning' in response to Carver's greeting. He walked onto the bridge to see Seth Firren, a strange young drifter who'd joined them a little while back, hell of a navigator. He was in the midst of a conversation with the other two members of the crew present: A blue holographic orb that served as the visual representation of the ship's onboard AI, Q-23, and Ace, the pilot.

"Good morning" Carver interjected to Ace and the others when the conversation subsided "How we doin?"

Apologies for the slowness everyone, I've been a little under the weather, but I should be back in top form in the next day or so!

Stryker smiled and nodded as Taleste announced her arrival, he should've known she'd be among the first to arrive. Arex slipped away without a word, just as a few others arrived, Stryker glanced up from his coffee and nodded at each of them as they arrived. Soon enough, Tobi came along, pushing a small datapad into his hands.

"Appreciate it Tobi. The others are fine, doc's got em pretty well stabilized, one less thing to worry about for the moment at least"

Word came through the comms that Tibulus and Joe also wouldn't be attending, Stryker agreed to let them listen in from the cockpit and cargo bay, respectively, and went about setting the datapad to broadcast his announcements.

Grayson, unexpectedly, was the last to arrive.
"Sorry 'm late" he muttered as he fixed himself a cup "Long one las' night."

"Ok, we're all here now, minus the few that couldn't make it for various reasons, but they're all listening in" Stryker began "I guess we should address the elephant in the room....." a sip as he contemplated how best to put this "You know what? the details don't matter in this case. The short answer is, like always, the Alliance fucked us. They're the reason all of us are into this situation to begin with, so we'll stick the blame firmly to them and say no more about it right now. The real announcement, or whatever you wanna call this, just a quick, to-the-point info dump of where we're going, and what those bastards have us lined up to do next, just give me a second here"

He brought the mug to his mouth again and finished it off as he opened up the briefing file on his datapad.

"As some.... most of you will know, there's more stations like Minos all over the Deadzone. Mining hubs that fell over time into nothing more than pirate bays. In particular, we're headed out near the edge of the Deadzone, to Serros Station. That's the rallying point, because apparently, this is a 2 ship job, I don't know, maybe the other's a distraction or something, anyway they're reaching out to a merc crew to provide support. The target is Ne'ero Sol, a Trakerian who rules a faction of, to quote Dawson 'Feddy-sympathizing bastards.' Near as I can tell, his people have been in charge of Serros for years now, and according to this, time for a regime-change. Now, I've gone through this intel packet a couple times, all it really tells me about Sol and his pirates is exactly that, they're an ever-expanding band of cutthroats, slavers, and generally shitty folk. But it's not as simple as show up and bomb the shit out of it. Reason number 1 is because there are people living there, people completely unrelated to what we're doing here. Number 2 is just as 'simple' again, Dawson's version of the word, Sol's death will open a power vacuum among the 3 or 4 other crews that want to rule the roost over at Serros, and the idea is that whichever crew comes out in charge of the place, that's who we approach to try and make inroads. We build contacts with them, it helps us in the long run, apparently. There's way more to it than that, the intel actually refers to a plan carried out in phases, and Sol has a couple of high-ranking lieutenants that'll need to go too, but we can get into the specifics in a couple of days, when we get closer. I can try and answer any immediate questions now, but if there's nothing, then I guess that's it?"

Little update for you all: Been busy the last few days so this post was delayed as a result... I've been waiting on everyone to get their post in, and 7/8 is pretty good. I'm sure there's a reason Turbo han't gotten back to me yet, probably just as busy as I am, if not more. Anyway, that's not the point of what I gotta say. I simply wanna let you all know that we'll be moving forward..... very soon. I'm not exactly sure when because I'm gonna be AFK most of this weekend due to Canada Day events/celebrations. Optimistically? It'll be up Sunday night. At the latest? Tuesday. So, we'll see you all soon, enjoy your weekends!

Oh yeah, one last thing, I'm excited to announce that @Simple Unicycle will be joining us soon. Some of you might remember that he applied a long time ago, but wasn't able to join in due to irl issues. We've been talking over PM for a little bit, and I'm really excited to show you guys the little story we've been cooking up re: his introduction.
