Current I know I said I'd be back tonight but it turns out I have a lot of post-vacation life stuff to catch up on. Apologies to everyone waiting on a reply--I'll get them out before the end of the week!

Will be out of town from tomorrow until Monday--going to go try and through my threads tonight and update what I can, but after that will likely be silent for a few days.

@Digmata@rush99999--can one of you tee me up with the name of Ashley's dad? otherwise my next post will just be Jesse going, "and who is this guy?" lol
SPC "Mikey" Rangel

BRP Jose Rizal - 12/25/2022, 5:03, UTC+8

Mikey stood near the back of the crowd. Her arms were folded; a pair of sunglasses sat atop her head, revealing the dark circles under her eyes. Those eyes were focused on the tactical map--specifically on the estimate strength of the Chinese forces.

You heard the Admiral, Mikey. Forget about "the war"--if those troops and their supplies land in Lubao, that... what happened at the refugee camp is going to happen again, and again. Mikey shuddered a bit--she hoped no one else noticed.

As the post-briefing chatter started up, she checked her watch. 5:03. Still almost twelve hours until Christmas in California. Mikey had been instructed when she was deployed that she wasn't allowed to call her family for the duration; she wondered if many of the postcards she had sent had made it back.

She hoped at least some had.

Mikey reached up, absentmindedly fiddling with her sunglasses. "Well," she finally said, "question one: do we have a plan to get aboard the Guangdong yet?" She pointed at the map, tracing the distance between the two fleets on the battle plan. "They're going to have, like, at least six ships of dudes there who want us to not do that, and I don't think asking nicely is going to work."
Jesse's face went completely blank as they watched Luka lift into the air. The only hint of expression on their face was a wideness around the eyes. Nor did they say anything; instead, they wordlessly rose from the chair, walked over to the bar, and made themselves another drink--a dirty one, this time. They stood there for a second, and facing away from Luka and Ashley, took a pair of deep breaths and a deep sip of the drink.

That accomplished, Jesse walked back over to the table. They stared at the badge Ashley had presented, pursing their lips. "IDLN, huh? Yeah, I can't say I've heard of them. Do you mind if I take some pictures?"

Their eyes went to Luka. "Well, I suppose you did answer my question, even if I have a lot more now than I did before." Finally, something cracked the mask--a chuckle. "Glad to hear I still have a job, at least." It faded, and the mask reasserted itself, though softened by something like concern.

"So, your turn--you said you needed something. Is it related to..." They waved a hand as they took a seat on the arm of the couch. "The whole this-ness?"

This sound pretty interesting! Can I ask what kind of character or role might fit best with the rest of the party?

right now we've got a Jayne-type merc, an alien sniper specialist, and a hotshot pilot. a face and/or doctor would slot in well, imo, but don't feel obligated.

Hey, quick question: You know those alternate characters the book says we should have on hand in case your current character becomes lost while indulging there vice? Can those guys be on the ship when not in use or would you prefer them to be off elsewhere and doing their own thing?

If y'all want to have an extra person or two on the ship for flavor purpose and everyone agrees on that, I don't have a problem with it--but if you want to gain any mechanical advantage from their presence we'll need to figure out a way to cash that out in-system.
been looking over the core rulebook and it looks interesting enough so far. I'll register my interest as well, I've been hoping for a tabletop game I can join as a player rather than a GM =O
Bumping this; we have a spot open if anyone's interested and wants to ask questions/submit a character sheet.
Below, a taxi speeds away from the spaceport;

a patrolman knocks on an apartment door;

a man in a sharp suit stares at an empty parking spot;

and a pair of firemen spray water around a burning noodle truck.

Above, Cerberus soars into the sky. You feel, more than hear, a roar as the moon's atmosphere rushes past the hull. It grows in intensity as you pick up speed--and then drops away as you clear the atmosphere and rocket out into the black.

No one follows you as you make your escape; for the time being, all your troubles are behind you.

Cho-Tyrek is laid out on the metal floor of the cell; your doctor seems confident that he'll live, but for a long while, he doesn't have either the strength in his body or the presence in his mind to lift himself onto the cot. Still, he has time to recover; your destination is a deep-space rendezvous with Pasha Arlox's private craft, and it will take you a day or so to reach the coordinates you were given.

You all know when he comes to, several hours later; though spacious enough for your purposes, Cerberus is small enough for you all to hear him yelling. His voice is weak, but his words are clear.

"HEY!! LISTEN!! HEY!!"

Cho is a professional assassin, and his cardio is excellent. You have the feeling he can keep this up for a while.
@POOHEAD189@Penny@rush99999 - two things.

1) It's been a minute since Meri was online, and I haven't gotten a response over PM--is everyone ok with moving forward without her? If so, does anyone object to me updating the interest check looking for another fourth?

2) I've been chewing on it, but I really can't come up with anything that makes sense and is interesting to put between now and Ijin arriving at the spaceport. Does anyone object to me fast-forwarding to space, and picking up with Cho-Tyrek coming to in the brig?
Jesse nodded to Ashley. "Herrera, sorry." Their gaze flicked to her, softening by degrees, as did their tone. "Don't take it personally. It's my job to solve problems, and my best tool is information. Frankly, I'd be neglecting my duties if I hadn't spent some time... following up." As they leaned forward and put their glass down on the table, their eyes flicked over to Luka. "And as much as I hate to call you a liar, I know that you did not, in fact, leave the diner as soon with everyone else." They regarded Luka coolly for a beat, then let out a long breath.

"Luka, look. You're the boss. You say you need tickets, I say 'Broadway or baseball?'. You bring down the roof with one of your parties, I'm on the phone with the contractor putting it back on." They frowned, fingers folded. "But I need to know what's going on to do my job, and I think it's about time you let me in on whatever's going on."
