Back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I got started with writing online on the Spore forums. Man, those were the days. We're talking like 12 years ago 2010-ish!

I've been here on and off for almost as long, and have GM'd a bunch of different things to varying success.

Well the idea wasn't that nobody else would have submarines, it's just that I'd have the most/best submarines. But like I was asking, what are your thoughts on that? Would it be too much for me to have a big population, the most land, and a bunch of submarines to boot?
I see that most nations aren't employing a large amount of submarines in their navies, and that no one is claiming to be the forefront in submarine technology. I did mention in my sheet that Tin doesn't do much research but that the government pours money into a few projects to develop military technology. How would you all feel if Tin built really good submarines? Of course they'd probably keep their technology a closely guarded secret and only even consider selling submarines to the few nations that they aren't enemies with, and only on the condition that these other nations do not share the technology.

I mainly ask because I'm trying to keep my nation balanced. To compensate for having a lot of land and resources I chose to handicap Tin by making it technologically behind. So if you all feel like having rally good submarines would be OP or just beyond Tin's reach, I'll scrap the idea.
Well I responded to Zendrelax (interactions between two players aren't done by turns) but I can't start building new things or anything until next turn.

Oh boy, I go to sleep and wake up to find three more pages of this OOC. And Tin is already making enemies with everyone! Granted, I expected as much when I made a nation that would be such a menace to the rest of the world, but I'd better find a friend or two or else the first 10 pages of this will be nothing but Blitzkriegs on my cities. @Voltus_Ventus I think Tin is going to hold onto its 'mutually beneficial friendship' with Ventium with a death grip

We are going to need something, a crisis perhaps to start the RP off, got any in mind? A colonial dispute or a communist backed revolution?

Clock and I have a bit of a colonial dispute between our two nations because Yamatai wants one of those islands that Tin is colonizing. And Tin has missionaries in the PRK and is trying to incite a religious uprising, while the PRK is trying to spread Communism over to the Sultanate. Oh, and then there's Avalia, a country that the Sultanate very well might trap inside that inner sea by refusing it access through the strait. It looks like I've turned our entire continent into a firepot, huh?

Anyways, I will try to finish up my sheet over the next few hours. Tomorrow I will be going on a trip and will be gone for a week (I'll have my smartphone so I may still post OOC, but no IC) so I guess I might be missing the first few days of this. Speaking of the beginning, when are we going to start?

I put that there would be small numbers of Tinites primarily to indicate that very few of them leave your nation, as you said you have very strict immigration and hence I presume emigration policies, but sure. The Kataylans have no religion and no policies surrounding that, and that would lay a groundwork for a lot of conflict in the past if you had been actively promoting your faith, and certainly now with the new government.

Well they probably would be more lax on emigration since it is their desire (and within their interests) to seed other nations with people of their culture and religion, in the hope that it spreads. That and they have enough people to spare.

But I quoted you because I found it interesting that there was a sizable population of Tinites as all. Presuming that they did not abandon the Ajdar Faith, they would still have some degree of loyalty to Tin because its leader is also the head of their religion. Kind of like how many people in Catholic realms used to respect the Pope more than their own king, and sometimes people even paid taxes to the Papal State instead of the local lords.

Anyways, I'd imagine that relations between our nation would have been sour as of late due to yours suddenly abolishing its monarchy to create a Communist Republic. Just look at the uproar that ensued amongst nearby nations after the French Revolution abolished the nation's monarchy.

And if your nation saw Tin's monarchy as a threat (which it conceivably would) and tried to start a Communist Revolution over there, it'd make sense for Tin to seek to similarly overthrow you by sending missionaries to spread their own Conservative ideology and encourage the local Tinites and other Ajdars to rebel. Sending all these missionaries and encouraging people to move to your country would also explain why there are even Tinites over there to begin with.

So basically what I'm proposing was a Cold War-esque rivalry and war of espionage between us.
@HaelThe tail of land next to my country is still unclaimed if you want to be my neighbor. Otherwise I think that the top right corner of the map is really empty right now.
Tomorrow I think I'm going to finally get around to doing my history section in the sheet as well. I know what's going on with Yamatai and I think Voltus and I have a rough idea, but @Mihndar do you want to have some history too?

Specifically, two things popped out to me about your sheet:

"...it contains large minorities of various different races... and small numbers of Tinites."

and

"an extensive spy network to support worker's revolutionary movements in other countries"

Incidentally, mine has the little quip:

"In the past Tin has also vigorously fought to push its faith into other countries, and where they succeeded the converts often rebelled and served as spies for the Tin, which has only thrown fuel onto the fire in this situation."

You can probably see where this is going. I think that we could work something out of this, if you want.
@Willy Vereb

Hmm, my Kerbal Space Program knowledge lets me know that jets engines are effing awesome and can run for really long times. I think the lack of jet planes is to prevent OP air forces from flying across the hemisphere, bombing the crap out of something, and then coming back. Aircraft carriers were around by this time, though.

And seeing as my nation just lags behind the rest of the world, I was going to try to go for an American Civil War-esque situation, with shiny weapons that they just began to import, but antiquated tactics. Of course this will be leading to horrendous casualties until they figure out how to effectively use their new technology.

So I guess tactics don't matter to me so much as what would be reasonable to have in terms of weapons. Voltus set a somewhat high standard. I mean, look at how specific this is:

"The vessel is also equipt with 12 40mm cannons , 6 in the front on swiveling mount for 360 degree fire, 2 on either side and 2 on the back. It's speed and light weight allows it to speed along side larger boats and shoot at it point blank..."

I guess the obvious solution is for me to just be a bit more vague when describing stuff that I don't know very much about.
Well, I don't know if anybody has noticed but I've been adding a bit to my my nation sheet each day. It's now done except for the sections on history and the military.

As far as the military goes I must admit that I'm actually pretty ignorant as to what tactics and technology should be like given this time period, which is making me have a somewhat difficult time writing out the military sections.

I'd say that I have a really good understanding of history and warfare up about through the Napoleonic Era, but if asked to talk about the 20th century all I'd be able to say is that trench warfare was a thing and armored vehicles and airplanes started showing up. Oh, and some chemical weapons. Actually, if we're around 1940 wouldn't atomic bombs be just a short ways off as well?
