Back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I got started with writing online on the Spore forums. Man, those were the days. We're talking like 12 years ago 2010-ish!

I've been here on and off for almost as long, and have GM'd a bunch of different things to varying success.

Word of my splendor:

I am hoping Cyclone posts soon, because his people are very interesting, but I guess he'll finish his sheets first.

No, I actually have this terrible tendency to get a sheet 90% completed (as it is now) then start posting and never go back to finish it.

Regardless, I've intentionally given others a chance to post first since Chugo Bey technically wasn't even invited to the king's court and will therefore be arriving a little later than he would otherwise would.
E: Another bonus! We might have a bit of culture going on here as sentient species tend towards burning the bodies of their dead to prevent reanimation instead of burying them where they could, with time, dig themselves up again.

That'll be fun to go into. I feel like I might do something regarding that soon enough.

Silly savage, my witch doctor tells me that you bury bodies face down to stop them from coming back as zombies to kill you! That way when they try to claw their way out of their graves and kill you, they're very confused to eventually hit solid bedrock.

In all seriousness though, it would be interesting to see what the Hain etc. do with their dead in the face of zombies becoming a thing.

I'm thinking more a certain Great Lich Lord begins his rise...

Nop, nop, noppity nope. Not that guy again! If Thulemiz comes back, I'll have to just zap him with a lightning bolt or ten thousand ;p
Everything except the detailed version of the Khargat's history is written now. (Upon request, I made a rough outline of their history a few pages back)

So no need to wait on me.
@Kho I wonder, between Belintash and Andaluja, which of the two should have the bigger population.

Considering Belintash is much more mountainous and seems pretty urbanized, I'd say Andaluja. They have much more fertile farmland to support a huge population.

You have to realize that this time period would have about 90% of the population working to produce food. Sure there were some large cities like Belintash seems to have a lot of, but until rather recently in time the vast majority of people lived out in rural places.
@Cyclone Hmm, so Andaluja has been part of the Grand Kingdom since 236 179 PA (its now 299 242 PA). If the Khargats invaded and were subjugated nearly 100 years ago (around the same time Yesini @Ryuzaki was conquered) that would mean that it was before Andaluja joined. Perhaps Eskanadra had a good enough relationship with Dieuporteille @Buddha (perhaps Dieuporteillians used to go there, and still do, for religious studies etc? Creating a rather amicable relationship?) that they answered a call to arms against the heathen hordes. Thoughts? Because from what I read it seems the horde was concentrated in the west and didn't do much in the east before their eventual subjugation (but, like with the Meda-Chabians, perhaps there have been Khargat raiders coming in over the Andalujo-Belintashian border, which has added to the friction).

Sure, Andalujo men might have spilt their fair share of blood battling the heathen hordes. They might have been motivated to join by a few prior Khargat raids into Andaluja.

Edit: oh,a nd @Cyclone, just remembered, I mention in my sheet that Laxion travelled to the lands beyond the western border in his youth, and was eventually captured by brigands as he was returning. Perhaps he set out with a Khargat trading caravan? That would mean he has a rather good understanding of their ways. I'm also thinking that the brigands who captured him were in fact Khargats (not sure if independent Khargat raiders would raid the Khans caravans now and again...) but eventually released him when they realised that he spoke their language and understood their ways pretty well. Thoughts?

Sure, you have my permission to weave all this into a story for him. It would be strange for an outsider to just join a Khargat caravan, but if you can explain that then the rest of the story makes perfect sense. Random Khargat brigands would indeed be tempted to raid the Khan's caravans because if they can steal spices/horses/slaves then that's the equivalent of striking gold. Issue is that the caravans are of course guarded, so while begin set upon by bandits is plausible it wouldn't be a common thing.

@Flynn

I expect to be done with the sheet today anyways, but I suppose it would make sense if Chugo comes a bit late. It would take a while for the Khanate to hear about all these advisers being called for and then find one of their own cronies to send.

We talked about religion and stuff, 1 person left the rp and another joined. We have a rough map and almost ready to start i guess. Waiting for Cyclone to finish his nation CS.

Yeah I'll aim to finish it tomorrow. Even if a bit of it is still in construction I think we could start at that point; the very minor details about Khargats aren't important enough to hold this up.

@Flynn

Just make it whatever color looks nice; I don't particularly care.
@Cyclone Do whatever you want I'd say! Try to influence the boy-king! ^^

Working on the map atm. Couple of questions and notes:
- @Cyclone, so I'm correct if I say you have settlements in Belintash and Dieueporteille, correct?
- EVERYONE! PICK A COLOUR! This will be the colour of your nation on the map.

Not really "settlements" per se, just large swathes of territory that they hordes wander around on for their herds to graze. It's hard for me to say where this is without seeing anybody else on the map. A big chunk of this land along the border of the mountains would be their stronghold and initial point of entry, and from there there might be other pockets of land scattered in nearby areas that they've successfully conquered and retained control over.

My history isn't specific about exactly what was conquered, so you have creative license to draw the lines as you imagine they might look.

I like gold. Can you give me a vibrant golden color on the map, like the golden fields of grass swaying on the windswept steppes?
@Cyclone I'm fine with all that since it would make for some interesting developments when Chugo meets Layna. What I can't understand is how exactly the Khargats ended up in the Emperiat. I mean, they were supposed to be invaders, right? Earlier you said that they were subjugated by the Emperiat. How can they still live to modern day in their conquered lands if they were already subjugated :/

When I get the history of them written I'll explain this, but to make a long story short I'm intending for it to go something like this:
1) They cross the mountains for reasons and obtain a stronghold in the foothills
2) Nobody nearby can stop them; they sweep across Emperiat on increasingly bold raids, going further and further south
3) They move to invade Dieuporteille to some success at first, but then are dealt a crushing defeat.
4) Following this opportunity, the Emperiat and their vassals (Dieuporteille being one of them) start pushing back at the various hordes of Khargats and try to brutally force them back across the mountains.
5) It's really taxing on both sides. Not all the nomads are warriors and so a lot of the children/women/elders in their camps are slaughtered, while the Empire is losing tons of soldiers and more and more settlements are being attacked as retaliation by the Khargats.
6) Finally, a peace is drafted and the Khargats get to keep the territories that they weren't pushed out of. They officially swear allegiance to the empire, but that's really more like a peace treaty and they are more or less completely autonomous. This was more or less a temporary solution for both sides.
7) Time passes. They start to become renowned traders throughout the land and support Emperiat on some military campaigns, so the uneasy status quo is maintained.
8) They are still pretty bad vassals and Khargat warbands continue to do small skirmishes and raids within the empire and outside, causing all sorts of diplomatic crises.
9) In response to this, the dead king (or perhaps his predecessor) curbs some of the Khanate's rights and tries to start centralizing them under his authority and bringing them in line. There are also moves to settle them so that they'll be more manageable as "cultured" agrarian people as compared to roving bands of nomadic pastoralists. This all faces fierce resistance and ultimately leads to the Khargats having a hand involved in the assassination of the last king.
10) Their current goal is to get the boy king to restore the Khanate to its prior state of near full autonomy, as well as maybe give them even more privileges such as grazing rights throughout the other provinces.

@Flynn

I was going to ask you about that business in #9 involving Andèris and whether you're okay with it. It makes for interesting backstory and some intrigue if anybody ever discovers the Khargat's involvement in his death. It also helps to explain who some of King Andèris' enemies were and what they hoping to achieve by killing him.
