@olcharlieboi that's just poor DMing there... It's one thing to berate the characters ideologies in game but another thing to do it in the OOC.
The world will always be filled with different people with different views, now sure you built the world so you decides how it works but it takes a lot of character to be different and bring some diversity into the game irrelevant of the 'cost'.
Besides there is far more depth, growth and development in being wrong. If you are gonna hassle everyone that dosent just follow you post for post let me know now and I won't waste anymore of my time.
A good character isn't just about summoning a bad ass dragon and being all cool, they should have very human flaws aswel. Look no one has attacked your lack of detail so I don't know why you have to attack character intentions.
Like water off a ducks back the doctors words fail to settle on or affect Avarius. "You have two specialities yet hide them under the guise of one, your beliefs allow you to tie them together" he replies argumentatively. "Traditions can guide, but followed too loyally without question will only hinder and bind greater progress. This establishment seeks to categorise, list, order, rank and control not only the summons but the summoner's as well. I too fear it will only take me so far."
Unwavering in his decisiveness Avarius jumps from the bed and leaves the room, catching his class as they start to expel summoned energy into the air. Quickly taking a seat he tries to follow on, occasionally bothering those around him for advice.
To his left a black ball forms in a students hand. Void of any light, it then shot out into the air. The boy smiled proudly with accomplishment. Avarius gives him a little elbow nudge, "how'd you do that?"@Polaris North
“Those that fear the dark haven't seen what the light can do.”
Personal Information
Full Name: Azerus Thorn Gender: Male Age: 19, Appearance:
Background Information
History: An orphan, Azerus was raised in a very strict and religious boarding school. There he learned to fight and developed his angst for authority. Running away he spent some harsh years on the street and grew to resent the rich and privileged.
For reasons still unknown Azerus was eventually taken in under the tutorage of an insightful elder monk, while he could not live at the monastery he could trade work for food scraps and teaching.
At first the young boy was reluctant to work, or worse, conform. But as time passed and the difficulties of street life caught up with him, in his own time he soon took to the offer. First he worked just for the essential food, then as curiosity took hold of him he became hooked on their philosophies and learnt much more of religion and combat.
However, it was still no place for a child. Many of the monks took the vow of silence, and the others had little interest in games or conversation. To Azerus they were all really old or really slow. There patient ways and humble lifestyle bored him, there was very little 'fun' to be found.
It was after an awakening lesson on empathy did Azerus stumble across a pompous boy around his own age crying on the streets. Had he met him a day sooner he would have either scoffed, berated or robbed him. Perhaps all three.
Wanting to practise the lessons he had been taught Azerus put aside his biases and started the notions that would forever change his life...
Albert Archibald. The boy held dearly to a stray dog he wasn't allowed to keep, instead of releasing it back where he found it, Azerus would look after it and Albert would visit near daily. Both the young teens idolised the dog, the same could not be said about each other. There meetings usually consisted of comparative stories trying to out do the other, arguments and even on many occasions childish brawls. But they always returned.
Promises of how great they would one day become were made to each other, and every time they were Azerus would stay up late that night either training extra hard or reading something new. Preparing himself for their next meeting.
Times changed and the boys grew, even long after he left the monastery and even after the dog died, the boys met at the same place, the place they buried the dog, and compared stories, talked of the future, argued, fought and even laughed.
Right up to the day Archibald called on Azerus to be his partner in a celestial bond.
Emotional Bond: One of rivalry and competition. The constant struggle to achieve and surpass. This is not a bond where their strength comes from one supporting or carrying the others flaws, but of both members equally striving for perfection and giving all they have. From that excitement of reaching new heights. Their energy is on equal levels and they both refuse to fall behind the other. Partner: Albert Archibald (@SaberClass4242)
Combat Information
Fighting Style: Azerus is agile, fast and unpredictable. Well trained, he often uses his opponents momentum and weight against them. He favours unarmed combat second to only his personalised Kusarigama. He is an expert at disarming, tripping and distracting. Equipment: Having grown up in poverty Azerus holds few possessions dear to him. He has the clothes on his back, a few spare rags, a bed roll he calls home and Iju. Weaknesses: Impulsiveness, confidence, his desire to push and test his limits. Competitiveness.
Celestial Gear
Name: Iju (named after deceased dog) Type:Kusarigama Appearance:
Function: Tremor sense. While Iju is in Azerus's hands he can feel the vibrations in the air and ground around him. It growls softly to only him when an enemy or fight is near. Striking an object will give him a sense of its density. Striking the ground will let him locate hard minerals. Last resort: Spirit Bah-Iju Zorn, Summons powerful earth/gem creature with burning with dark flames lapping from its mouth.
@Dark Light The doctor would raise an eyebrow "don't you know it's incredibly impolite to ask a summon it's name if it's not making a contract with you?" he asks "and I can't simply teach you how to summon angels for multiple reasons" he states "One being it's not yet time for you to learn anything besides the one elemental summon you have probably already obtained by now, and two what you summon afterwards when your allowed is determined on what you plan to specialize in" he states "what is your plan?" he asks
"Angie" he says to the angel with a big smile, ignoring the doc's comment about names. Avarius addresses the angel that healed him. "I will call you Angie then, thank you very much for your aid, it is a wonderful gift you have and I feel great now." He proceeds to roll his shoulder both testing and demonstrating its condition. Before turning back to the doc he gives a grateful nod to the summon.
Avarius had only been here for a few hours and already he grew tiresome of the rules and boundaries. He had never much liked the school-like structure. There was little room for freedom, creativity or growth. Once again for the many-ith time today someone tried to confine his interests and label and categorise what he would become.
-'Pick and choose, what will you summon, What will you specialise in, what is your plan,'-
... Defiantly, full of heart he replies.
"My plan is to become the greatest summoner ever! I will specialise in forming bonds of freedom and mutual benefits. I'll show the world that summons are not just tools."
@Pineappletumble While Tic threw a mighty punch, even he knew it was not enough to damage the solid timeless wooden door, he realised this after a loud Crunch sound resonated from his fist and he could see the solid thickness of the door through the splintering hole he had just created.
It was if the tavern itself had not wanted this secret to go untold and was tired of waiting any longer.
Behind the door was a lavish room tainted with dust and forgotten from time. Ornate dividers separated the large room into quarters. Each giving way to different styles and formalities, encompassing in it a different feeling and mood.
One could only imagine how the owner would have used this to her keen advantage. All was neat and in its place, only after entering and turning around would Tic see the golden envelope stuck to the back of the wooden door which had already magically repaired itself.
I always enjoy roleplaying an eccentric sophisticated emotionally torn killer so consider me in! I too would like to keep a level of gritty adult realism and would be happy to help guide the conflict and confrontational side to the story.
