"Tell us of the Morgador," Hagen requested, with a cheerful smile, "I have spent plenty of time in the frozen lands of the North but have never ventured into that place. I had been planning an expedition to the uncharted lands South of here, but then the young lady approached me and suggested I join her for a time," he nodded towards Aderynel.

"But anyway, on with your tale! I hear there are ruins in the Morgador, the scale of which is beyond imagining!" he declared.

Colonel Swaigers gave Carter a curious glance, then shook his head, "The Synaxis has never had any understanding with the Commonwealth, neither do the Calarians. I would anticipate that the Commonwealth will remain neutral in the conflict."

"As to your question, Captain," he turned his attention to Le Mariner, "We are awaiting instructions from your headquarters at the Grendell as to what they would like to do with the gold and the ship. My anticipation -" he gave a small incline of his head as if to say he was just guessing, " - and this is merely the musings of a Colonel - is that we might be asked to offload the vessel here and keep the gold in Mitteland where it might be used to continue the war effort in the event that the Grendell falls. It is, at the very least, far away from the Calarians."

"As for the vessel, I imagine she will resume the military service for which she was being outfitted when the city was overrun," Cromer added, "So yes, supplies, armour plating and other such matters will be looked into. Once we receive instruction from Grendell we will do what is necessary. There is also the matter of who will be on the ship at that time. Grendell may send down an experienced air crew. There may not be one available and the ship might be loaned to the Luftstreitkräfte. Until we know what is happening, please accept the hospitality of the city."

Aden

...

Aden let that thought die with a grumble and a flick of the dead cigar. He wasn't a thief or a coward.

He gave a sigh and straightened, moving back to the airship's interior and whoever had decided to stay behind.

There was a slight scramble from the boarding ramp as Zoe reappeared. She had been off the ship, presumably going for a walk around the city, though she seemed in quite a rush to be back aboard, her cheeks flushed, one hand held to the side of her face as if trying to hide herself from someone's gaze, though she dropped it the moment she was back aboard.

She took a deep breath, "Good morning Mister Robertson," she greeted Aden cheerfully, no apparent distress in her tone, though her cheeks were still rather flushed.
...
" Wait..." Gweirca paused, taking a closer look at the group before them. "...you lot are those people that was going after that treasure in The Morgador, right? If so, I want in! You'll need my skills." Gweirca said as she flickered her hand again, the die disappearing just as magical as they appeared.

"I rather think your skills are of little use outside of a tavern," the short man raised an eyebrow, "I don't think loaded dice will be of any use to our expedition. Unless you happen to have some other talent, skyborn?" he asked, eyebrow raised.

"While she is the one actually making the decision," he nodded towards the dark-winged sylpharim who was chatting with the Southerner, "I don't particularly want to spend this trip constantly checking my purse is still there." The eyebrow stayed up, as if inviting Gweirca to provide some kind of assurance.

Markiel Sviatolev

"Well, honestly, I have been thinking about doing another adventure, and when I overheard your tale. I figured this would make a good adventure, considering what was found." Adventure, Markiel thought. That was one of the reasons why he came to this city, hoping to find another place to visit and gain a tale to tell people if he desired. It seemed that he found the right group for one if they accepted him, that is.

"But what I mean by a good fighter is that I know how to use and fight with a sword and shield." He gestured to his sword, seax, and his shield. "I am no novice, and I am no stranger to conflict." Markiel almost sighed there, not about his fighting skills, but he is indeed no stranger to conflict. He was raised in one, and that conflict he does not wish to see anytime soon.

"I can handle myself is what I am getting at, and I am an experienced traveler if that means anything to you." Markiel hoped that was enough and was willing to say more if needed. Hoping that this will not be a missed opportunity, and he can see this vault. But, it is up to Hagen, and now Markiel is waiting for his response.

Hagen gave a small shrug, "Everyone here is a seasoned traveler, but booking an inn isn't the kind of skill that will keep you alive in the underground spaces. That being said, I'm happy to bring a few more warriors aboard. We need more of your kind to keep the historians from stabbing themselves in the foot."

He tipped his mug of ale back, chugging the contents before slamming it down on the table, "So Markiel, do you have any good stories?" he said, inviting a tale to be told.
Sorry yes, I was just throwing ideas around which can be ironed out in the IC anyway
@Byte which is fine! I'm also not trying to trample over your vision for the character...

Incidentally feel free (and also you, @GamerTemplar), to move your character over to the character tab and start posting in the IC!

Sorry, I possibly wasn't clear with my first response that the apps were accepted!
Velia was off the ship after, "Uurgh!" she grunted as she eyeballed one of the dead metacer, "I've never seen one of them up close before... gross."

She paused, her face registering a mix of nausea, curiosity and disgust before she shook her head as if clearing it, "I should get back up to the bridge and see what this people did to my ship while I was gone."
Arkadios & Zoe

Aden

...

"Will I be needed at any of these?" Aden asked of Arkadios, a cloud of smoke hanging around the knit cap pulled over the private's ears. " Or do you think I will be receiving new orders here?"
...

"I should think not," Arkadios replied with a slightly raised eyebrow, "We are in a friendly country, but it is not our own. Once we have repaired the airship we will make for Grendell. It is there, I imagine we'll be given our orders."

"You can accompany me for the morning," Zoe offered, "I am assuming there will be a dress maker as well?"

A nod from Arkadios.

"Then I'll need an opinion on what I try on!" she declared.

The Following Morning...

They docked that evening. It was, with the help of a ground crew, a much simpler process than what they had gone through at Custospada. An officer came aboard, exchanged a few pleasantries in heavily accented Inburian, before allowing the people on the airship to turn in for the night.

The next morning, those people going to the meeting were escorted off the ship by another Mittelvolk Officer in a slightly blue tinged 'pike grey' uniform. They descended the mast in a lift, before being led across a broad square to a large civic building with an off white paster facade, grey tile roof and a sign announcing it was the 'Zollhaus'. From here they were ushered into a meeting room with a number of Mittelvolk officers and coffee.

After an exchange of salutes and brief pleasantries, they took their seats. Arkadios speaking for the travelers and a Colonel Swaigers, an older man with a broad, waxed, grey moustache speaking for the Mitteland Government, assisted by a Lieutenant Cromer, who was much younger and clean shaven.

"Escape on a dirigible," Swaigers remarked with a chuckle and a shake of the head, "I am impressed you managed to find enough people to crew the thing and get it off the ground, let alone here and with a cargo of Imperial gold."

"Thank you Sir," Arkadios replied, "We have good people aboard... and have also had luck on our side. If I may ask, what news from the Front."

Swaigers grimaced, "I will start with the bad news Captain. Our forces attempted to advance along the railroad through the Morktree but the Calarians were already waiting. We believe we suffered around 15,000 dead and wounded. I could not say what the Calarian casualties were, but we did not force them back a foot and I do not believe forcing the Morktree is possible."

He paused momentarily, before giving a sigh and a shrug, "The situation in the South is worse. There was a small battle at sea between the Calarians and the Quinians. The Quinians lost a battleship and a couple of destroyers and retreated when they realised they were getting the worst of it. This has allowed the Calarians to land forces unopposed at Pencraig and cutting the rail lines supplying the main Quinian army. They have Quinians to the North and South of them, the Eryddragh to the West and the Sea to the East full of Calarian warships."

Arkadios grimaced, "Is there any good news."

"There is... but first you should also know that the Imperial Family have been taken prisoner in Inbur. Apparently the Emperor imagined his presence would encourage the troops to stand... which they did not. Princess Philazoea, the youngest one, is unaccounted for, though I would say at this stage she is probably dead somewhere."

"God save Inbur," for a moment the horror showed on Arkadios' face, "Is there any good news?"

"The one ray of hope is that the Imperial Army has held the line at both the Grendell and Neapol. As of this morning, at dawn, Mashall Leontiou has launched a counterattack from the Grendell against the Calarians. From the telegram reports we are receiving, the Calarians were caught off guard. Favis and Bayn Alain are mobilising and have pledged to support the Synaxis." that had been the term for Inbur and her client Kingdoms (Mitteland, Quinia and Favis), though it hadn't been a formal military alliance, until now, "I suspect they are dragging their heels to make sure they don't accidentally enter a war that is all but decided. Leontiou's offensive, provided it manages to stabilise the Front, will swing the balance of this war."
...

"Hello there, and I could not help but overhear what plan you all had, and I would like to join." He had a friendly tone to his voice. "My name is Markiel, and I am a good fighter if you need another blade for your party." Which is all he can offer, unfortunately, but time to see how the leader of this group's leader feels about him.

"Is that so?" Hagen asked, leaning back and stretching his shoulders, "So for you, I've got the same question we've asked everyone else, and one other. Why do you want to go?" he asked, before adding, without leaving time for a response to the first question, "And tell us a bit about yourself... 'good fighter' can mean different things to different people. I want to get a gauge of what that means to you."

...

Arda crooked an eyebrow. "I told you," he replied. "I'm a historian." He slid a glass of wine toward the white-winged sylpharim newcomer, but his gaze did not leave Aderynel. "I'm chasing the same quarry as you, I'd expect: learning something that no one in Minadra has known for thousands of years." Ardashir smiled wryly. "Something tells me that I needn't explain to you just how much foolishness a dream like that can justify." He drew a gloved hand through the air: a gesture of cheerful finality, dismissing any further reservations. "So. Like I said: if this ruin is Turakindi, then I may prove of some use when we get there. And I won't slow you down on the way. Let's help each other, then. Are we in agreement?"

Aderynel glanced in the direction of the newcomer, raising a cool eyebrow, but her attention quickly snapped back to Arda, "I'm more than happy to delve into secret places with another historian. It's always better to work in a group! Hopefully if the group is large enough, the creatures in the dark will keep their distance. We'll still need to be careful of course, but who knows, this could actually turn out to be fun."

"Are you with a University?" she asked Arda, changing subject, "I was with the University of Bryncaer but managed to do a few stupid things and land in disgrace." She was being reasonably open about the events of her past and her tone suggested she was happy for Arda to delve further, should he wish, "I uncritically published documents from someone I trusted and ended up defaming and innocent, but powerful and angry, man," she grimaced then gave a rueful smile, "I learned a hard lesson. My hope npw is that, if I can do some good work here, I might be able to find a position at a University in one of the human realms. Perhaps even Segestica?" she mused.

...
" If anyone asks, I'm not here. " Gweirca say to no one in particular as she hid behind the tallest one.

Just then, two men burst through the door in a similar fashion. The duo glanced around the dimly lit room, their eyes immediately falling on Aderynel.

" Is that her?" One of them asked the other.

" No. That one's wings are black. Our thief's white." His friend responded. " Let's go, she's not her."

The two men would quickly leave as soon as they had arrived.

The shorter man in the party, Quintus, had been watching Gweirca like a hawk. As the men searching for her departed he spoke up, "I don't imagine the gentlemen you brought here have got very far. Why are they hunting for you?" he asked, his tone level, conversational, "If I think you're lying or trying to give me the runaround, I'll call them back in and we can figure the question out together."
@Byte
Hopefully it's come across a bit, but there's meant to be a sense of fading glory to Minadra. The ancient races did things the younger ones just can't and where the old ones still exist its in pockets, where they are a shadow of what they once were.

So the exploration and archaeology game is a big deal to them because they want to be the greatest craftspeople in history, but they just aren't. The Turakindi (giants) were considerably more advanced than them, so exploring their ruins and trying to figure out how their stuff worked is a big deal.
@GamerTemplar@Byte

Happy to have you two aboard.

Overall I'm happy with these apps.

Couple of notes on Fig, in the setting the dwarves like a bit of exploration... mostly they're trying to recover Turakindi (Giant) artefacts, which makes for a good reason to be interested in what the group are talking about. There are also two mentioned dwarven cities. You might want to make her from one to anchor her in setting (maybe Fjallborg, because its closer?)

Elenor is grand, I'm happy with a roving cartographer... I hadn't thought of it, but it seems like a very logical thing for sylpharim to get involved in!
