I've been on here since before the fall, way back when I was a middle schooler. It seems a lot more slow paced on here then it once was. I'm also old now soooo maybe that is it.

I would say that you can take some creative liberties, if you really need to. I would much rather you play the character your heart is set on and that you put so much work into. This RP is inspired by the Waterworld movie, and an anime called, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet that has more advance tech. Technologies are not completely lost, for instance the Dominus Ship Jackal is a ship that specializes in buildings/smithing/metal kind of stuff so they would have a forage of sorts. I don't know much about modern black smithing so bare with me.

Also the great flood happened in 2055, and people prepped a bit in advance for it. So 2020 tech + 30ish years means there would have been advancements. So like a solar powered saw and welding gear or something for tools. It would be rare to have this tech off the Jackal ship or Drevni cities, but it is around. Other tools like knifes, wrenches, and nails could be made from carved bone or stone. Whale oil can be used for flames, and blow torches if fuel is an issue.

As for wood harvested from the ocean floor, I googled and this is what I got, so hopefully that helps. It's only been 350 years since the flood, and this site is saying wooden ships from 1500 years ago are still found in the black sea. And yes metal is the primary thing scavenged from the bottom of the ocean, from sunken cities and other ships.
So I did it three times assuming I would get the same author 2 out of 3 times, but no I got three different dudes. Only one of which I've actually read before.

I got Stephan King, Cory Doctorow, and Arthur Clarke.
@Haeo Exactly.

@Haeo I don't know how to properly and scientifically calculate Life expectancy, but people tend to live to be 70-80 years old is they are healthy and get enough food/water. The medical tech is basically zero, so things like cancer, diabetes, heart conditions, and things that require surgery or medication to fix end up just killing people now. Malnutrition, starvation, dehydration, and drowning are the number one killers in Waterworld.

As for how people understand the passage of time, its all based on the fazes of the moon. Every new moon is considered to be the beginning of a new month. Every 12 new moons, is a new year. So "September" is the ninth new moon of the year. A new moon is when there is no moon in the sky. The sun and shadows are used to figure out what time of the day it is, for instance the sun at its peak, and no shadow means it is noon.

I really hope you get to play!
@Shovel You are totally welcome to join.

I was hoping for a big group. Thank you to those that have checked in! I was worried.

Anyway excited to see everyone's character sheets!

Hello to those of you that showed interest, and the lurkers! I'm just taking a roll call so I know if you'll be planning to participate/join in this RP or not. So please raise your hand and say here if your planning on playing! I've only gotten one Maybe via PM, and I'm just concerned that I'm putting time into creating the guide, and making maps when no one is actually going to play.

(I've also @ some of the people I've seen viewing this page more then once....Hello there friends!)
