Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Pyramid of Giza, Dusty Tombs

@Days, @Lexisheeps

Theo entered Rebirth first, followed by Ramses. There they would find and follow angular cuts in the stone corridor, before it would lead upwards a flight of the narrowest stairs known to man. Crawling up these was the correct way to describe their ascent.

Once past the narrow staircase, the stone would level out, and there would be an illumination in the distance. moving towards the purple light would lead to a square shaped room with a large, enclosed tomb in the middle.

Theo and Ramses would see another open pathway straight ahead, past the tomb. This path was adorned with slightly illuminated staircases swirling upward in a circular fashion.

Another pathway was to their left. This pathway was marked by a broad square frame and another room beyond it. From what they could see, there were glimmers of gold among the misshapen stone in the other room.

As Theo and Ramses would step into the room, a low, earthy rumble would shake the dust down from the ceiling. With an eerie, loud crack, the central tomb would open, spilling purple and red light across the room. Mist would rise from it, revealing an ethereal black orb.

And then the black orb spoke.

It seemed to appraise the two in the room.

”A son with eyes that are blind. I can show you exactly all you could be, and all that holds you back…”

The orb shifted to look upon Ramses. “A man who refuses to trust, who hides away secrets that could save those around you. Why not let go, and become what you were meant to be…?”

A deep, guttural, mocking laugh. “Let me free you from your corporeal forms!”

In the next instance, lightning shot out from the tomb, searing the ceiling, before lightning bolts rained down on the two archeologists. They were aimed at the body, Theo's chest, Ramses abdomen and legs. They didn't strike once, no. They struck, and then calculated where the two would move, and then strike again! To be hit by a bolt would bring a person near to death, with the shock too much to overload the system.

Pyramid of Giza, Secret Sacrificial Chamber

@Days, @WhiteAngel25, @Lexisheeps

There was a slight tremor in the air as Theo, and then Ramses, departed. Slunked off. Crept down the path of Rebirth. Perhaps to become anew…

Meanwhile, tears were wiped and apologies given and received in the sacrificial chamber. Cosy held on tightly to her mother, before she nodded her head and moved to grip the cloth of Auri, rubbing her eyes again and again. The only thing that soothed her completely, was when her father knelt in front of her. Reflexively, she hid a bit behind Auri. But, when she found her father speaking softly and apologizing, she dropped her guard and came to pat his knee.

Her eyes widened at her father's words, then she nodded vigorously. “Oui, papa, Je les ai.”

She held up the small pouch, procuring it from a small pocket, giving the coins a proud shake. Pleased with the given responsibility, she smiled that sweet smile of hers.

“Oui, papa, I'll take care of them. I won't let anything distract me, not even the… shiny stuff! The word ‘artifact’ was hard to pronounce, after all.

The magicks in the room were slowly making themselves known on their targets, and Cosy suddenly stumbled against her father, feeling woozy. She clutched her head, face contorting in an expression of discomfort.

Auri would be feeling the same, a loss of balance, the feverish chills accompanied with a flu, and a headache that would change from mild throbbing to aching pain.

“I don't feel good, papa…”

It was then a small, sickly sweet voice whispered in Sabrina's ear. It was coaxing, honeyed and thinly veiling a cruelty.

“Take your children down the Afterlife, and free them from their suffering.”

Just as a heads up I've added the map to the 0th IC post!
AHHHH-
Hehehe, I feel a bit satisfied now. :>
They're in the same boat, I take it. xD And thank you, Izurich.

Elys Adair

Oratorio, //O3 - The Pallid Mermaid
@ERode

The scrape of two flat surfaces as she heard an object slide across the bar. A hand shot out to catch it, but her neutral face broke the moment she tasted it.

Milk?

What was she, two? Her lips pressed in an irritated scowl. However, the atmosphere of this tavern wasn't… well, it wasn't welcoming, to say the least. So she swallowed her pride, set her staff against the counter, and downed the milk as the owner told her about his cellar rats, and then to ‘run along home’.

Why am I seen as a child? I'm near thirty, damn it…

A light went off in her head, and her scowl deepened.

It's the eyes, isn't it?

Her heart rate picked up as she felt heat in her bones. Not from embarrassment. No, from wounded pride, and righteous anger.

The swaying shape coming up from behind, she saw it coming a mile away. It prepped her for the slap on the counter, which she only half-flinched to.

From the tone of his voice, she could tell where this was going. Her hand subtly moved to her sword hilt, ready.

A way to vent her wounded pride was about to come up, she could feel it.

“I’ll be happy to oblige, hehehe…” A hand on her shoulder.

“You bastard.” She growled, baring her teeth.

In the next beat, one thumb flicked her sword a half-inch out from its sheath, while her other hand gripped the hilt. The pommel immediately found itself buried in the man's gut, aimed to knock the wind out of his wheezy little lungs.

In the next instant, her disgust did the talking for her as she swiped her blade upward. In one clean stroke, she had slit through the wrist of the hand the man dared to touch her with, severing the hand from the rest of the body. She side-stepped out of the way at the same time, keeping herself clear of the spray-zone she knew would shortly accompany.

If that didn't upset the relative peace of the tavern, she didn't know what would. With a resigned huff, she sheathed her sword, knowing she'd have to clean it later. Her staff found its way into her hands through muscle memory as she addressed the owner.

“As much as I fancy a bit of coin, I feel I've overstayed my welcome.”

She pressed her last coin on the counter in way of apology for the mess.

“As you were, gentlemen.” She said icily, adamant there would be no snickers thrown her way this time around. Did the men have tempers, though? Would they bar her leaving, now that she'd hurt their own?

Bastard deserved it anyway.

With a dissatisfied click of her tongue, turning down the offered work in an effort to avoid the aftermath of her little ‘outburst’, Elys turned and made her way towards the door.

Ciara Ventura

Acendia, Room 103 Fountain
@Nanaya

"Now...!”

She felt the sword lunging directly at her as she appeared, her own sword moving a fraction too slow to catch it. She was going to get hit!

Until Iraleth snagged the professor into a choke, giving Ciara a second to catch her breath. The professor was good. Too good. Did he have actual physical combat experience? He had to, in order to keep up with her movements. Clearly not just an academic.

”I still hate his guts, even if his strength is admirable.” She thought with a grimace.

Light poured in, evaporating her tendrils and shrinking down her shadow to a singular spot under her. She raised a hand to block the light, cursing under her breath as she watched Rio and Chloe dive in from above. The professor moved quick, and Ciara had barely enough time to dodge as Iraleth and Rio were pushed aside.

And then, she saw it.

In Chloe's grip, a hole had formed in the professor's barrier.

“This one has power in her hands.” A Voice whispered, brooding.

“She's gonna hurt the professor!” A small, child-like Voice.

“Oh, wondrous days!” The Voices echoed this one, cheering Chloe on.

Ciara's eyes widened. “She's gonna hurt the professor? That's- that's not according to the plan!”

“So? That light-hugger deserves it.” A Voice said coldly.

“Yes, just let it happen.” Another Voice crowed.

Ciara shook her head. “No, it's not right. I- I gotta- I gotta-!”

As rain poured from above, creating steam from the heat of the flaming sword, Ciara ran, and then teleported forward, appearing in mid-air in front of Chloe. Her hurt arm extended to the side, aiming to clothesline Chloe in a half-tackle, to tear the girl away from the professor. If she was successful, both her and Chloe would roll to the ground, past the now withered thorn barrier. Ciara would hiss under her breath - being too close to the flaming sword for even a moment caused the steam to lick at her back. She could feel mild burns, mild tenderness of the skin.

Anger bubbling up, she turned to face the professor from where she half-sat up from the ground, wincing in pain from her arms and mild burns.

“Your barrier is broken. That's enough!

Why do I feel like a crack dealer all of a sudden. o^o;;;

xD
Yessss, that was a joy to read!

"But in order do to that, you can't pick any other artifact."

What a smart father! Knows exactly what to say to his little one to ensure safety, in a way she will understand. //nod of approval

That means it's my turn again! I will aim to have a post up in 2-3 days, if that's alright!
