Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

(Luna’s Perspective)

Kari's House, Outside the Ice Fortress
Interactions: Everyone inside the ice fortress

Luna saw the volley of orbs falling on them before they hit. Alas, she was too slow to move, and it was a direct hit. There were screams. The smell of burnt flesh mixing with acrid rain. And when Luna opened her eyes, Aislin and Layla were on the ground, clothes fused to their skin, charred, red, and painful. Covered head to toe in burns.

Luna clicked her tongue, then shifted her gaze to her armour. Cracked, but no worse for wear. It had protected her from the worst of the burns. She was the only one who remained unscathed.

She watched as Layla’s ghost materialized, scooping the little girl into his lap. She wrinkled her nose at that, but ignored it, focusing on Aislin.

Shit. Hey, heyyyy… You okay?” She said, rolling Aislin over with an armored hand so Aislin was on her back.

Aislin softly whimpered, tears in her eyes as her face scrunched up reflexively. She tried to speak, but all that came out was a gurgled, weak mash of syllables. Luna clicked her tongue. She’d seen worse: a man cut with his entrails spilling out of his gut. But this… this was hard to see, too.

Luna’s gaze shifted to Layla, then to her masked ghost. “How’s she?”

“She’s passed out, but she’ll live.” Kipnu said, his voice disinterested.

Luna stared at him flatly. “Really?”

“Hm?”

Luna shook her head, eyes on the portal in the sky. Not her business.

The undead were just pouring out, falling to the ground and spilling out in all directions. Some were headed in their direction. That meant they had to move fast. Luna considered her options, cursed under her breath, and stared hard at the ghost.

“I need another favour.”

“That’s going to be another soul.”

Luna snarled. “If you don’t help me, Layla might not make it out of this alive.”

“I can whisk her, and you away, if you beg me.” There was a deep chuckle in Kipnu’s voice as he spoke.

Luna glared. “Fine, fine! Another soul. But you have to listen to me, no questions asked.”

Kipnu’s masked lenses gleamed. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Luna sighed a bit, before she dropped her gaze to Aislin. “Hey… I know you don’t like me, but I need your help. I have an idea…”

From where Aislin lay, her hand connected with the earth. Teeth gritted through the rain and the pain, she pulled away at the earth, creating a tunnel underneath the ice palace, allowing Luna a way inside. The moment it was completed, Kipnu took both Layla and Aislin through Smoke’s Crossing, removing them from the battlefield.

That left only Bahlok with Luna, who appeared resentful and not at all interested in being there. She turned her attention to the tunnel, whistled, and ten hellhounds, growling with their teeth bared, stormed the ice palace. Bahlok jerked with her chin, and Luna and her followed after the hellhounds through the tunnel, Luna with a white broadsword in each hand, Bahlok with her Eldritch Appendage bared and ready.

“You all bitches are done!” Luna yelled as they advanced inside.

”As long as I get to spear someone!” Bahlok said with an eye roll.

Ciara Ventura

Wingram, Forest
@Nanaya, @Psyker Landshark

This is as good an opportunity as any to secure an advantage.

Ciara blinked, stunned, as she watched the door with the dark one disappear. An advantage? For what?

That’s when her face turned slowly towards Iraleth, and trepidation entered her system. The dark one had to mean Iraleth, right? They were fated to duel in just a handful of hours, were they not?

Her hand gripped the sword tighter.

Iraleth’s back was turned to her, wholly focused on the shadowy Beast. Now would be an opportune moment as any other to strike her down. Forget the duel. Forget a fair fight. Just end her troubles right here and now. Safer that way. She might actually lose a fair fight.

She took a step forward.

Better just to end all her problems right here and now.

The Voices in her head were silent, bated breath.

But before Ciara could act on her dark impulses, the shadowy thing spoke. It had separated partially from the wolf and was looking directly at her.

"It truly is a shame to be assaulted by a fellow sufferer, and for that sufferer to unite with the worshiper of a false deity,"

Ciara’s dark amber eyes narrowed, and she lowered her sword hand slightly. Fellow sufferer? What was this dark being going on about? What did it know?

Her eyes glanced at Iraleth. United, huh? She stared silently before turning her eyes back to the small being.

"I have been vanquished, great heroes! You may now proceed to take me to your leader, or whatever else your protocol is around here. I invoke my prisoner rights and safeties!"

Ciara stared a moment longer, ideas forming in her mind. She immediately stood a bit straighter, and teleported in a gust of wind, appearing in between the little shadow being and Iraleth. Her stare was cold, looking at Iraleth over Otis’ raised sword. She only spared a slight glance to the shadow being, reaching out towards it with an arm.

“Attach to me, we need to talk. In private. She spoke low to the being, the tone in her voice giving little in the way of negotiation.

Her eyes snapped fully back to Iraleth, teeth bared. “Don’t try and stop me.”

Sounds great!
Okay Qia, thank you for the heads up. Enjoy the celebrations!
Oops! No worries, you take your time, Days. That's exciting stuff; I'm sure it'll be much better when it's all done. :)
I'm in no rush - I leave it up to the GM's discretion. :>

”You wanna really back up your big words? Go get rid of Emily and her goons for us.”
Drake

Luna gave Drake a long stare. What he asked was suicide, but…

She looked up over at the monstrosity that towered over Kari’s home.

She’d seen worse.

As Drake, Stormy, and Sully moved out, Luna turned her attention to the house, and narrowed her eyes.

She was gonna need some help if she wanted to pull this off.

As Ken bounded up the basement steps, calling for war, the atmosphere went from disappointing to fearful. Layla nearly dropped the bauble she held. 8th Street? Here? Filled with people who hated her dear Britney’s guts?

Wait, how many guts did Britney have? What did guts even taste like?

She moaned behind a hand, her head spinning as she sank down to her knees. Aislin moved to her side, rubbing her back. “Hey, you good?”

“I’m too fuckin’ high for this.”

Aislin fished around in her bag, passing over a half-filled bottle of water. Layla finished it in a few gulps, wiping her mouth. She stayed there with her hand pressed, before she mumbled. “What are we gonna do?”

Aislin laughed. “You really are high- ‘what are we gonna do?’ What we always do, sister. Beat up some bad guys.”

That was when a huge explosion rocked the house, causing Aislin’s eyes to widen. She snapped to her feet, running up the steps to the basement door. She swung it open, nearly burning her hand on the door’s handle. Smoke poured in along with the glow of hot flames, shrieking with the faces of the damned. Aislin covered her nose with an arm, eyes watering as she cried out, “We’re trapped!”

Layla struggled to her feet, reaching out for Aislin as she came rushing back. They held each other, looking desperately for an exit. Before their eyes snapped to the sound of ringing steel and shattering glass. Manicured nails swept the glass of the basement window aside, and a head stuck itself half in.

Luna.

“The hell are you two idiots doing? Get out of there!”

She reached out with a hand as the flames consumed the main level of the house. Layla crawled out first, followed closely by Aislin, choking on smoke as the fire spread to the basement. Pulling them a short ways away, Luna gave Layla a light smack.

“The hell were you thinking? What would I tell Mother if you got hurt, huh?” Her eyes glanced cooly over to Aislin, “You should have known better.”

They could hear the sounds of battle, including Ken’s shrill cry echoing through the air.

“We’re high.” Aislin giggled, wiping smoke-induced tears from her eyes. “Also, the hell are you doing here? Aren’t you like, a criminal?”

Before Luna could answer, Mr. Riil appeared, pulling Layla closer to himself. He ignored the outrage in Luna and Layla’s eyes as he wiped the soot from Layla’s face, then straightened and spoke to Luna.

“You’re lucky 8th showed up. That egomaniac was about to cut off your family ties for good.” He said in a cold tone. “Not that I care, but I imagine you’d function better on our deal if you had at least some semblance of your little ‘pet project’.”

Luna scowled. “Shut up.”

“You still owe me. Don’t think I’ve forgotten.” He said plainly. He then moved to address the group, shifting Layla in his arms. She squirmed uncomfortably, but he ignored it.

“Your enemy is split into two groups. In front of the house, and within a construct of ice. Most of the Coven’s attention is on the towering monster and the surrounding members.”

He paused, lifting his masked chin. “Might I suggest hitting them where they aren’t expecting it and starting a two-front attack.”

Luna inclined her head. “You mean…”

There was a wry tone in Mr. Rill’s voice. “Yes. Attacking those in the ice.”

The wind howled. The rain pelted as Aislin, Luna and Layla made their way to the fortress. Squinting through the rain, Aislin knelt, connecting with the wet earth. She turned her head back a bit, yelling over the storm.

“You might want to step back a bit. Incapacitate anyone you see, okay?”

Luna and Layla nodded in unison, stepping back as Aislin began connecting with the ground and animating it. In these conditions, she'd need a second to try and pull everyone within the fortress out. Meanwhile, Luna and Layla were on high alert, the latter hiding behind Luna's shining armor.
