Leval Lamrue

Location: Rainbow Field
@The One@AbandonedIntel@Oooie

Leval's group had swelled with the ranks of Sig and Liana, as well as Liana's machine gun which did make Leval feel quite a lot better. Given the myriad creatures that they had faced on the fields below it always helped to know there was someone in their "adventuring party," as Sig had put it, that was willing spray copious amounts of hot lead at the things. Sig had clapped him on the back as he decided to join and Leval was glad that he had come along. Sig seemed a very likable sort of guy with his own unique sense of being. He was definitely someone Leval wanted to learn more about.

'I wonder what kind of abilities he has? He was floating on a chair earlier. Maybe some type of wind manipulator? It would be rude to ask.'

They came across the field, a vivid landscape with colors well worthy of its name. Each hue of each color spread out before them as the sun shined down upon them. Leval was glad to see Shela running through the fields happily, apparently he had made a good decision to take her out instead of cooping her up somewhere. Liana nudged his arm and spoke on Shela's current mood. Leval nodded in agreement. "She seems to be doing okay from the ordeal. I'll keep an eye on her just in case. I am not exactly certain if she is in any danger at the moment."

The area was quite beautiful really, peaceful even. However, rather than relaxing Liana seemed to growing more tense as the time passed. He glanced at her with a little bit of concern. He was about to ask her what was wrong when a sunflower poked out of the ground and began talking to them. And than it began to sing, because apparently everything here liked to do that. One of the many mysteries of the Academy that he was certain he would never fully understand. But it was disturbing really, nothing about the lyrics of the song were particularly disturbing in and of themselves, but combined with the intensity of its stare and the way it smiled spoke of some ...other intent that Leval did not like at all. When it stopped singing, Leval also responded to Sig's question, "I can confirm that, yes, a talking flower just emerged from the ground, you don't often see that around." He rhymed intentionally.

He wholeheartedly agreed when Liana called Shela back towards them. He cleared his throat and spoke out towards the flower. "Oh we are good thank you. I think we would just prefer to head back. Bye now." He tightened his grip on his staff and motioned the group to start backing away slowly.

Leval gently removed Cinder from his back and placed Cinder on Shela's hand. "I am glad you are okay. This is my friend Cinder,
who is a healer. Sometimes when people use their abilities for the first time, their health can suffer for a time. Just in case, Cinder can help with that."
As if to emphasize his point, Cinder twitched its wings and appeared to settle where it was upon her hand.

Satisfied that Shela seemed to be doing alright, Leval turned back to the others in his group. Liana, who apparently had friends that had already arrived on the floating island, introduced them to him and Sig as Carmen and Hakeem. As they were introduced the cyborg thing, apparently called Max from Arken's speech, walked over and asked them about something called Torchsnuff, it was clear to see it made the entire trio uncomfortable, though they tried to hide it well. Leval looked away pretending to be engrossed with looking at his map of the premises for something to fill the time and give the trio their time. Whatever Liana was not talking about was none of his business and he owed her a great many favors just from the past hour. She was entitled to her own secrets, as they all were. Including himself.

Actually looking over the map now, he spotted two areas of interest. The maze and the Rainbow Fields. For some reason or another, the maze unsettled him, while on the other hand, the Rainbow Fields looked warm, inviting, and safe. A welcome reprieve from the chaos of the day to be sure. He turned and showed the picture of the location on the map to Shela.

"This seems like a nice place to go to. We can go get some fresh air after the craziness at the start of the day. Feel like coming along?" Shela nodded her head in agreement, so Leval turned to the others as well.

"We are going to head for the Rainbow Fields if you guys would like to join us." Leval turned and walked out of the building with Shela following the map to their new destination.

”It is nice to meet you Sig.” Leval listened intently as Liana explained who exactly the man he had first disrespected and then helped to heal truly was. ”Surely someone like that wouldn’t be brought to this academy. The letter said that is a place for people to hone their abilities. Who would want to increase the abilities of murderous tyrant trying to destroying surrounding countries? How would you even know about this?” Blinking after being told about the buzzfeed article, he quickly pulled out his phone and did a brief search. After spying an official post from buzzfeed apologizing for such bad taste in creating that article, it was easy to corroborate what Liana had told him.

”What on earth have we signed up for?” He nodded at Liana. ”I understand. I will follow your advice.” Still looking at the near crying man, who had ripped off the bandages Leval couldn’t help but pity the figure. ’How does someone end up like that?’Leval would discussed more, asking how she had known so much about who else would be attending Ordinary Mythical Academy, but Soul appeared distracting Leval completely from that train of thought. The blood in Leval’s veins began to boil as Soul spoke, the anger he had suppressed earlier coming back with a vengeance.

”Let me be clear Soul. In the brief time, I have known you have possessed two people, stolen complete control of their bodies, their will, and their abilities. A violation of the highest order. The first time was apparently an accident, this forgivable. The second, you chose to steal someone’s body. You did not ask, you robbed her of her will to commit violence upon another. You are a monster to me. Nothing more.”

After that announcement, Arken appeared before them all, quickly reviving Ash and Conder who fluttered back over you Leval. Leval appreciated that assistance, they would have been back to their normal selves in an hour or so, but Leval couldn’t imagine that the healing time was much fun for his friends. He both admonished and praised Leval in regards to Sekhemi which he thought deserved given what had happened. The praise not so much though. On the topic of Soul, he completely disagreed. The creature was a monster. Arken’s quick demonstration of power teleporting them all to the academy with merely a snap of his fingers awed Leval. ’Exactly how much mana does this man have?’

The room assignments were given, and Leval was pleased he would be able to keep a protective eye over the youngest of the students after what had occurred on the field below. But, he was distracted by the circumstances of Sekhemi’s departure. The words of Arken and Liana warred in his mind, Liana’s words of Sekhemi’s horrid sins and Arken’s of the chance for redemption. ’Can that actually happen?’ Leval had always viewed the world with hope, and he didn’t know if that viewpoint could take writing off more than one person as a monster. But given that Arken seemed to be endorsing Soul of all beings. He glanced after Sekhemi and made his choice, letting him leave without comment.

He knelt down towards Shela, checking her for any injuries. ”Are you alright with me as a roommate or would prefer someone else?”

The woman had roused him back from unconsciousness and had helped him bandage Sekhemi’s wounds gripped his arm and warned to back off his current course of action. Strangely, despite being older than himself, she also called him “Sir.” Leval looked over the woman a little more carefully, she carried herself well, putting a hand on her holstered gun as she gave an emotional appeal to him to move to a safer location. ’I’m not sure why I didn’t expect guns at this academy, they seem practical. She seems like some kind of bodyguard.’ Her words got through to him though and he decided to follow her lead, besides he owed her quite a bit.

As he walked off, he kept his eyes peeled for Soul, but did not see him at the moment. Either his form was so small he was blocked from his sight by the bodies of the other students, or he had vanished like he had snuck up upon Leval in their first meeting. ’I need to talk to someone who knows about these kinds of beings.’ Directly after that thought, he noticed the figure who had drifted down from the sky in a chair. Even more interesting was the way his protectors fingernails into sharp black claws. Leval was not particularly surprised by this feat, but only because the amount of shock he had gone through today had temporarily burnt out that emotion.

He listened to their conversation learning their names, Sig and Liana, Sig seemed to be quite a character and Leval found himself liking him quickly. When Sig questioned how some of the creatures would fit through the door though Leval couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He could feel his anger dwindling down, ready for the next time he saw Soul but not required for this moment.

”You know, I have been asking myself the same question. My name is Leval Lamrue by the way.” He looked to Liana, giving her a deep nod of respect. “Thank you for your help by the way. I truly appreciate it. I owe you one.”

He turned around and called out to Shela. ”Are you alright?”

"...okay?" Leval was only out for a few moments before someone seemed to wake him up. His eyes opened slowly and his breath was quite ragged. Dazed and confused, Leval did not answer the blurry form in front of him at once. He glanced around, not particularly certain where he was in this exact moment or who seemed to massaging him back into consciousness. He saw a blurry blue ball approach a pink haired girl and then vanish. The girl said something or other to him, but it was half-heard like he was drifting through a dream. A beaver toy seemed to leap up and aggressively snuggle a different person. [color=aba000]['This is an odd dream, not as many mangoes as usual.'/color] Glancing the other way, there was something going on with a demonic being, but then it disappeared back into the dream landscape. Looking back at the female form in front of him, he squinted to try and make out more details. An African-american woman was looking at his forehead torn about something. He reached out with one his hand and patted her arm.

"It's gonna be okay, you will figure it out." He smiled at the increasingly blurry woman. "Also where are the usual mangoes?"

Derailing his dazed comforting/ mango interrogation, a white horse ran up to him and put a hoof on him, saying something. Instantly, Leval shuddered as he felt the wound on his forehead close and heard a loud cracking sound as something in his back set itself back into place. His mind snapped back into focus realizing he was being held by a lovely, older woman and also a he had a Pegasus hoof on his chest. He glanced from the woman, to the Pegasus, to the woman again while his mind ran over recent events remembering details with somewhat more accuracy.

"Umm. Thank you for the help. I can bake you something tasty later? Do either of you know how I ended up here?" Blushing slightly from embarrassment, Leval stood up, limbs moving better than he would have expected. He leaned forward and picked up his dropped staff, as he did one of the memories from his time dazed suddenly became far clearer.

"God damn you Soul! What did I say about possession?" He looked around for the spirit, jaw clenched and knuckles tight on his staff. Rather than seeing the spirit, he saw Sekhemi's battered and badly bleeding form. He looked awful and threatened them all, but Leval couldn't blame the man too harshly given what had just happened to him. Sometimes words were just words, no matter how vile they were. A heavy guilt fell upon his shoulders as he realized that he may have been the cause of this mans misfortune. He had only meant to knock him down a peg, not to make him a target for the rest of the monstrously inclined student body. Another girl, white haired, and a demonic being stood over him and slapped his unconscious form so hard he landed on his back and vomit came from... somewhere. And then the girl laughed.

"Get away from him!" Leval sprinted forward, body newly reinvigorated. He slid to halt before Sekhemi's unconscious body. He pulled off long strips of fabric from his cloak, using one to wipe off the vomit from his face. He used the others to tie off some of some of the bleeding wounds Sekhemi had incurred in his attack.

"Don't you die before the semester ends you ass!" Remembering that healing magic outside his currently smashed butterflies had just performed on him he called over the Pegasus to come assist. He placed his hand close to Sekhemi's nose and cast the illusory scent of smelling salts to wake Sekhemi up.

Yelling at the rest of onlookers, he pointed down at the body. "What the hell did he do deserve to be nearly beaten to death?"
