I do not know if this will help but I'm leaving this here so you can better see the rules I'm looking at when I'm playing with our table code and to add insight to BP's comment on the 'table inside table' issue. The below table is 'bordered' so it's easier to see the layout of the individual cells and the nested table within it.

If I have any request or suggestion about tables that I think would improve its use, I believe it would be absolutely amazing to have all these automatically added lines removed. I spend a lot of time trying to cover them up and there are certain lines I can do nothing about. They kind of pop up in annoying places and limit what I can do with the tables. There are some interesting things I've wanted to try but cannot because these silly little white lines will poke out from behind whatever it is I'm trying to design.

The thick white line at the bottom. Please torment someone else. I do not like you.

There is an option to scale the forum to your mobile device that changes the layout a bit. If you aren't logged in, then it defaults to this not being checked. You probably have it checked, which is causing the difference between logged in and not logged in.

I had no idea this was a thing. I don't currently have it check but now I'm going to touch it because I'm curious.

EDIT: A quick test and it seems like it's the opposite. While logged in, if i have it checked, the text stretches beyond the usual boundary. If it's unchecked, it becomes a proper paragraph.

edit: I don't really know if I can actually contribute to fixing the code since I'm really just pushing things around until it looks good and I know nothing about coding a website, but I do want to point out something that BP said about bodies of text strung out in a single line. I don't know if it matters but sometimes if you're viewing the page anonymously or not signed in, the code acts differently as opposed to viewing it while you are signed in. On mobile that is. You can try viewing the same page signed in and seeing if the text is a proper paragraph again.

You also notice through the passenger side window that the keys are still in the ignition. Reman. Through the binoculars, you notice something strange happening in the city. The road stretches a mile or two away from you before threading between two large skyscrapers and disappearing. On the far side of these skyscrapers, you can make out humanoid shapes moving from behind one building and quickly crossing to the next. You catch three of these figures in quick succession seemingly running toward something, though not toward you. Very shortly after you see another. And another. And another. _

The lore here is also not set in stone and can be adjusted in various ways if it does not make sense or to better suit the story we want to write. What is provided here is just a starting point. Magic has been a part of the world for a very long time, and yet most of the world remains largely ignorant to its presence. Vampires, werewolves, fae and elves and dragons. All of it exists, but all of it has been hidden away, assimilated into the cultures of the world as no more than folklore and fairy tales; the result of an agreement between the creatures of fantasy and the world of man established millennia ago. In the modern day, while magic continues to exist in the world, it does so in secret and under strict regulation. A license to reside in the world must be obtained and continuously updated with any and all changes to living arrangements, work and/or education history and modification to public identification. Failure to do so, or any criminal acts of any kind, could result in special incarceration, deportation to Avelion or in extreme cases, death. Everyone who is of a race other than human, and even humans who have learned to use magic, must carry these licenses on their person at all times. Avelion is the 'other side'; a seemingly separate dimension where magic and fantasy seems to originate from and very often leaks into the real world. There are official doorways between these worlds, and like airports between countries or checkpoints at borders, these doorways are heavily regulated. The process of moving between worlds is strict. 'Hunters' who work for guilds from both worlds do everything from investigation into suspicious activity from magical or fantastical creatures in the real world, to hunting dangerous monsters in Avelion. The members of these guilds are comprised of beings of all races, even humans who have not mastered magic. They are all ranked by skill and class and have special license to operate where they must. Special care is often taken while in the real world so as to not upset the fragile curtain of ignorance that has been placed over the wider population. The more powerful nations of the world host a single public guild, but private guilds do exist. The same principle applies to Avelion. Plot.    We will be playing members of one of the guilds who are tasked with investigating a strange murder case. While the lore has been set for parts of this world, the wider world is a blank slate and open for collaborative world-building. Sometimes that weightless, blissful, private place we visit when we lay our head down at night isn’t a space made just for you. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sometimes, those dreams are doorways to other places or glimpses into another universe or a mote of infinite possibility. These dreams are different. Powerful. Powerful enough to pull that other place here or thrust that dreamless someone there and sometimes, they’re powerful enough to grant that wish buried deep in someone’s heart. Most people go their entire lives unaware of the deeper layer of their dreams, but there are a few who find they can tap into them. Weave themselves into the layers of their thoughts and imagination and draw from it a power they can wield. These people are called Lucids and they are responsible for travelling between dream worlds and protecting others from their fears, regrets and the traumas they’ve suffered that continue to haunt them. Regardless of what led to them becoming aware of the dreamweave, whether that be a near death experience or the surviving or witnessing of some traumatic event, they’ve all been left with the choice to either use their powers for good or evil. Plot.    Pulling strong inspiration from Wonder Egg Priority (the first half of the season), this is meant to be a strange mix of dark fantasy and a light hearted slice of life coming of age story. The themes will clash and at times not make sense, not unlike a dream. Due to the age of most of the characters, there will be no explicit scenes of sex, but we can explore other mature themes such as the effects of addiction on loved ones, suicide, etc. The deeper concepts of this story are still a little messy but the starting point has a strong enough foundation that we can build from the basic premise. We start with two individuals discovering they're Lucids and very quickly finding out that they are not the only ones in their school. They must grapple with their new responsibility while also struggling with their own demons and together with the others, discover what this new world they're a part of is and where they belong in it. Like Avelion, this plot will be used as a test of the world and to help iron out the finer details for a potential group game in the future. Plot.    Your father has been acting strange of late, increasingly so as the year draws ever closer to your birthday. At first it was subtle, but as the months wore on, his need to protect you from some perceived danger began bordering on an obsession. It's been strange, adjusting to the sudden isolation under heavy guard and a restriction of your movements. For days now you've been forced to look upon the same walls, greet the same faces, and stare endlessly at the morning's blue sky and the late evening's starry night. You're starting to feel restless as a need to return to earlier days of sun and freedom itches at you desperately. You miss the trees. The sea of people beyond the walls of the castle. The view of the ocean from the top of the outer walls of the kingdom. For some small amount of relief (or frustration), your father has hired a new personal guard meant for you. But despite the excitement of meeting another face for the first time in what feels like forever, in the back of your mind, you can't help but feel like something is changing, for why else have you been locked away like so. Alternate.    We can tool this plot any number of different ways and change the specific pairing while keeping the same DNA of a King and his daughter. Instead of being locked away, you could have influence. Your word could hold weight and maybe much is expected of you in your immediate future. Perhaps these are your last few years of freedom before the yoke of rule or responsibility is placed upon you. Perhaps you've already taken up this mantle and struggle under the weight of it all. Or maybe, you excel in your position of power like you always knew you would. Whatever form the story takes, I will be playing your right hand man. Your protector. Maybe it's my first day and I was chosen for you by someone else. Maybe you picked me out from a selection of other qualified men to be your charge. Whatever the reason may be, I am yours to use as you see fit. I am also happy to accommodate a story that maybe you've worked on that borrows similar elements. Plot.    The foundation for this story is less rigid than the rest and is more a collection of ideas I intend to use to build a writing project with. Whatever form that story takes, the core of it I would like to keep intact, that being the relationship and power dynamic surrounding it. There is no concrete setting. Again, Avelion can be used as the backdrop of our world. I do have a plot point in place should we choose to go this route. However, we can just as easily scrub any fantasy elements from the game and make this story work on its own. Regardless of which path we choose, the wider world around both characters is open for collaborative worldbuilding. At its most basic, two individuals on opposite sides end up under the same roof and must work through the maze of living together while navigating their own complex and very dangerous lives. They are both highly skilled at what they do. Although the specific skill set does not need to be lethal, given the nature of their work, what the skill set is must remain a secret. The 'why' they are under the same roof has not yet been worked out. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Alternate.    Our two characters can begin the story working for the same agency and must work to complete their mission together. They would not necessarily need to be familiar with each other before the start of the story. Beyond that, there isn't really a specific structure we need to follow to do this and the setting, including time, does not need to be set in the modern day. If there is a specific period of history you would like to explore or a different setting altogether including something more science fiction and futuristic, I am open to exploring those ideas with you and putting together a story for it. However, the core of this is something I've been wanting to write for a while now. You can look at this as a simple set dressing swap of The King's Daughter. Set in the modern day, I play a character who is in some position of power, whether that position was inherited by right of birth or a stroke of luck or some other means. The rest is up to us to decide. As a basic premise, you could play a character hired as my assistant whose modest beginnings puts you at odds with the lavish lifestyle I seemingly take for granted. Initially, and very understandably so, impressions of each other will be less than desirable although given the professional relationship we remain in close proximity. Over time, we learn more about the deeper layers of our past and retread the interesting paths we took that led us to each other. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Despite not having a clear path forward, I am most interested in exploring the deeper layers of the relationship given the character's varying pasts. This means we'll be diving not just into my character's history but yours as well and building the world and story out from there in essentially two directions. I want interesting interactions as they introduce each other to parts of their lives that are foreign to the other. I want unique perspectives that shed new light on problems either of our characters couldn't solve on their own. I want a natural built trust woven around them like a safety net so they have something to fall back on when they begin to explore the deeper, darker, more personal sides of each other. Jin let him burn off energy with every swing, dodging at the last possible moment. But they'd long since done the math. Jin was exhausted. The knife in their hands had done little more than scratch Shao. The adrenaline and spite keeping them upright would run out, a lot faster than Shao's strength would. Despite the continued taunting and the smile on their face, Jin knew they were going to lose at this rate. They had to attack, but how? One bad move and Shao would crush them flat. "C'mon, fucker. What are you, tired?" Before they could put any particular plan into action, an anguished scream startled them. Their gaze flicked to track it, but they could hardly believe the source. 141... was in pain. "Holy shit, there's a person in - OOF!" Exit    An upward swing from Shao took advantage of the momentary distraction and struck Jin on the side of their head, disrupting their dance around him. Although it wasn’t quite enough to knock them out or knock them off their feet, it was no small hit. Mistress Dizzy    Jin staggered with pain and nearly fell, the copper tang of blood filling their mouth. The world tilted. One of the contacts had gone flying into the dirt, leaving their gaze lopsided. Their ear rung where they'd been hit, and they could swear one of their teeth was loose. Was this really it? To survive the endless grind of the Lower Ring and the Underground beneath. To live through LSF "recruitment" and training… To survive when Lady Cho and so many of their sisters hadn't… To taste the sun on Nelu's lips tonight… All of that, for a death in the dark? Silently they leaned forward, and gestured to Shao with their free hand - come at me. Exit    Shao grunted in frustration, clearly annoyed that so small a person was as resilient as they were. It was also becoming increasingly apparent that the seemingly one sided dance was not one sided at all. All across his body were small, shallow cuts. Most were not nearly deep enough to draw blood, but the fact they were there at all was proof of Jin’s skill and speed. They weren’t simply dancing around his every strike, they were striking back too, slowly poking at his defense and searching for something they could exploit. Plus, all the wild swinging was doing little else than wearing him out and he was getting very little in return for all his effort. ”You know, the rest of us used to look up to you.” Shao said to Jin when the echoes from 141’s screams finally subsided. He raised his arms and began walking toward them, his palms up in an inquisitive gesture although his metal arm was very obviously pointed directly at Jin. ”What happened, huh? How much they pay you?” Halfway to Jin, Shao’s open left hand was launched at Jin’s throat.

Fiber    Zhen’s head was pounding from the noise of 141, and her skin felt the heat of the lava even through the layers of armor she wore. While Hunang had been conjuring the lava, Zhen had summoned an air scooter, and ran far away from it, zig-zagging across the floor in an intentionally erratic dodging pattern. Lava-bending was quite rare, total number of live observations ranking in the single digits from what Zhen recalled of the LSF database. Difficult to fight, extremely destructive, but at least the lava itself was often slow moving. Exit    Hunang spun around, revealing to a retreating Zhen just how effective her earlier move had been. Blood poured from an open gash in Hunang’s forehead and drenched half her face, pooling beneath her feet as they began to shift into a more light and fluid stance. Despite the severity of her injury, she was keen to ignore it and remained fixed on the airbender as they continued to zigzag across the chamber. It was obvious to her now that her slower, more powerful attacks would do her no good against someone so well versed in their use of air, and if she wanted to accomplish anything, her attacks would have to be quick and precise. Instead of planting her feet into the ground like before, she began bouncing on the balls of her feet. Periodically, a light step would become a heavy stomp. Each time her heel made contact with the ground, a cube of dirt would pop out of the floor and a quick arm thrust would catapult it toward Zhen. Frustratingly however, Zhen remained as slippery as ever. Each block of earth would narrowly miss the airbender and smash instead into the wall behind Zhen or bounced erratically off the corners and edges of raised platforms. The airbender was impossible to hit. Fiber    As Zhen continued to dodge, she surveyed the battlefield and gathered her strength for a powerful airblast, one aimed at sending someone off their feet. She had it, and she motioned towards Hunang; but Hunang was not where the blast was actually aimed. Thanks to her remote bending, Kata was the one in the crosshairs. Hopefully, if it landed, he’d end up getting tossed right into the middle of the rest of the fray. Exit    Hunang reacted, swinging her arms up in front of herself and yanking a dirt wall out of the ground to block what she thought was an attack aimed at her.

& Object-141& Object-141 ____________________________________________________________________________. The dense ball air slammed into the side of Katakuri’s face, throwing him back and into the ground a few yards away from 141. The screaming finally stopped. When Katakuri came to rest, he found himself on his back, staring at the earthen ceiling and metal industrial fans far above him. How he ended up here when only a moment a ago he was watching a hole open up inside 141 he did not know. All he knew for sure was that something solid not unlike a fist had struck him with enough force to knock him on his ass and daze the hell out of him. He also knew he had no time to figure out the who or what. From somewhere else in the chamber, amidst a cacophony of crumbling rock and angry wind biting at the air, he could make out the unmistakable angry roar of 141. With Katakuri momentarily stunned and Hunang fully distracted thanks to Zhen, 141 took the opportunity to break free from its makeshift prison. It flexed against rock and stone, growling angrily as the packed earth holding him in place began to shatter. Within a matter of seconds, 141 managed to thrust its arm free, flinging a large slab of earth away from it and tossing more dust and debris into the air. Not a moment later and its other arm was freed too, as was the dirt pinched around its waist loosened just enough for it to escape. 141 wasted no time, locating a prone Katakuri on his back not far away and immediately leaping out of the hole it'd been half buried in. It cleared the distance between himself and Katakuri in a single leap. ”Shit!” Katakuri panicked. Flame jets erupted from his hands and feet and he jettisoned himself away from 141 just as the creature landed over him and swung, slamming a fist into the ground and burying its hand down to the wrist. It again immediately tried to pursue, but when it attempted to pull its hand free, the packed dirt around its wrist refused to budge. It clung to 141 unnaturally, holding him in place despite the way 141 tried to pry itself free. Blood poured from the charred wound in its chest and splatter on the floor with every desperate yank and grunt until finally it realized what was wrong. It turned in time to see Hunang, back in her more rigid stance with both hands in the air, bring her hands down with deliberate force in front of her. From above, a large section of the earthen dome fell away from the ceiling. A cube the size of a very small room fell through the chamber and landed directly on top of 141. The sound of the impact was like that of a thunderclap trapped in a bowl and once again, more dust was tossed into the already saturated air. Where it had landed, the jagged seam between the ground and shaped earth began to glow red orange. Katakuri left 141 to its fate and refocused his effort on the airbender whose path Katakuri’s escape had put him in front of. Gaining some small amount of air until he was angled in such a way that he would eventually pass over Zhen, Katakuri repositioned the jets of fire pouring from his hands down toward the ground and turned those jets into a large curtain of flame engulfing the entirety of the immediate area ahead of Zhen.
