More or less as pictured, Delyndra is a tall, willowy girl with dark hair and pale skin. Her mark is on the back of her shoulder, and takes the form of a stylized blue teardrop shape.

Personality
Delyndra is studious, serious and severe. Like any good aristocrat, she has a habit of taking herself very seriously, and generally responds poorly to criticism or japes at her expense. She’s sharp as a knife, always watching people and monitoring little details about her environment, and her brain is a sponge for information; science, history, art, politics, she is constantly thirsting for information on all manner of subjects. She’s a workaholic when it comes to mastering the magic arts, and can’t stand mess or clutter. She’s somewhat naïve about the realities of the world, owing to her sheltered upbringing, though this doesn’t translate to being easy to trick. As a rule, she gives off the atmosphere of a stern, studious, no-nonsense young woman with no sense of humor and a large problem with uptightness.
Internally, she is absolutely ruled by the expectations of her parents, her Kingdom, and her people. She was always destined to be a Queen – there was never any doubt of that. She struggles with the notion that she is somehow inadequate to the task or undeserving of her parent’s legacy, and worries constantly that the people of her Kingdom perceive her as an inadequate successor. Her people skills are mediocre at best; she does not understand people or how to inspire them, and as confident as she appears and as seriously as she takes herself, that confidence evaporates the moment eyes are on her and she’s expected to speak. At the moment, this general anxiety has fixated on the Festival of Destiny and her worry that she will embarrass the proud traditions of her family by letting this opportunity come and go without meeting her Destined King.

Background
The Kingdom of Andour has been ruled by the Allervai line since the gods first shaped the world, an unbroken chain of Kings and Queens, each of whom has shared the Mark of destiny that their culture believes marks them for greatness. The Festival of Destiny had its origins in the grand ball that would be thrown by the Kingdom to help its princes and princesses meet their destined partner, and to this day it is expected that the young heirs to the throne will take the Festival as an opportunity to find the one who will rule the Kingdom beside them. For an heir to take the throne without their destined partner would be a scandal of the highest order to the Kingdom, and a curse on all their reign.
Decades ago, then Princess Landra Allervai met her destined partner, a half-elven sailor by the name of Dreyen Storascki at the Festival, and the two of them were wed. When war came to the shores of Andour, brought by the Orc-lord Groakash and his mighty fleets, Landra’s father was killed in battle, and so she and her husband took the throne, and at the head of Andour’s finest ship, Dreyen Allervai led the Kingdom to victory and took the head of Groakash himself. Their reign ushered in an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity for the Kingdom, and though fate seemed determined to challenge their reign, wracking the kingdom with floods and plagues and undead incursions, the Royal couple stood strong and beloved, protecting and sheltering their people from all manner of ills. And 19 years ago, they welcomed a daughter into this world.
Delyndra Allervai was born to be Queen; not only that, she was born to succeed the two greatest monarchs in memory of Andour, who had forged a strong alliance with the Dwarfholds and safeguarded the kingdom from orcs and famine and necromancers, who were personable, wise, charming and beloved. From a young age, Delyndra felt the weight of expectations on her, and she strove always to meet them, to work and study and be the best she could possibly be. She took to magic from a young age, and, in disguise as peasant girl Delilah Farhill, she took the entrance examination to the Andour City Academy of Magic; when her identity was revealed, the great elven Archmage Sinad took to overseeing her education personally, and considers her among his finest pupils. As she grew, she developed into a great beauty, as befitting of someone with her noble birth and hygiene standards, and when she came of age Marked men from across the world came to pay her suit, hoping to win her affection and by extension, the Kingdom. Of course, that exact type of attention is now something of a problem for her, as the Festival of Destiny is upon the kingdom, and with it, the Parade of Destiny, in which she will be expected to follow in second place behind her parents… and alongside her Destined partner. Every man in the city was hoping to win her affection, but none of them were interested in her, which was really impeding this whole ‘falling in love’ business she was supposed to be getting on with.
Fortunately, as the Festival begins, she’s come up with just the solution. The peasant mage Delilah Farhill was about to get a new birth of life.

Used to have a stammer that’s been coached out of her, but she’ll never forget the time when she was twelve and had to give a royal address to the Kingdom on the anniversary of the Orc-lord War. She stumbled her way through it and ran away crying half way through, in front of some eight hundred people.
2. What do they think of being Marked? Do they believe in it? Have they come to the festival in search of love, or for some other reason?
Being Marked is just another responsibility she has as a Princess – she has to find the one fated to be her king, and do it soon. She’s given little thought to what that will actually mean in terms of love, being more concerned with living up to the expectations of her family.
