If it's any help, Nathair's going to be worried about the unknown holders and how they will affect the PR event. His first thoughts are have 2 holders stick around and do crowd control , keeping the protesters from harming or tearing the PR members to pieces while the other 3 determine if the unknown holders are a threat to the PR/crowd's safety. (Likely Arlette and Remia for crowd control since they can blend into the crowd easier then a volcanic horse and a oversize snake could...while likely Eowyn and Nathair are the other) Naturally Quartz will be the one to suggest this but over all, he won't take the intention to carry it out without Eowyn's authority.

As for us showing ourselves, I don't know what to say. Namely if Nathair's going to be force to pop Quartz back into spirit form... I don't think there's going be much conversation happening from my end since the spirit is the talker and Nathair's the follower, comes with the fact he sees Quartz as more of a father figure to be respected rather then a spirit. (I play odd relationships with my PCs way too often...)

The Essence of Death

Before you continue in the following pages of this tome, let me give you some useful advice.
You're going to die.

No matter how hard you try, you will. Your soul will leave your body and be cast into the dark river of death, but what then?
You may be wondering what exactly death is.

Well, it isn't. Death is a state of being, not a place; but Gaurot's realm and the Pit are places.
Perhaps I should elaborate.

As I said, you are going to die. But don't be afraid; dying is a simple action. When your soul-carrying vessel has existed for so long it can no longer function correctly; your soul leaves it. Simple as that. But what happens after this vacation, you ask? You die. Obviously. But what REALLY happens is more complex. You see, this mortal realm exists alongside three others. The first: The Inferno. The Second: The Free Realm. The Third: Death. Death in itself is impossible to enter as a mortal. At least, as yourself. As one with the Gift of Mageblood, you can will yourself to die.

Who would want to kill themselves, you ask?

Well, Necromancers, for one. And, since this a book on Necromancy, I won't go further than that.

Death is the River.

Well, seems you've read this far. Good. That means you're interested. So, since you seem to be a dedicated student, allow me to teach you a few things. As with the introduction, I'll be telling you about death, here.

Now, as a Mortum Necromancer, you probably have some sort of affinity for death. At least, I hope you do, otherwise you're in the wrong profession. Now, just because you enjoy death, or the aspect of it, doesn't mean you understand it. In truth, very few people understand it. I, however, am one of those people. But, instead of trying to make you all understand, I'll put it in metaphorical terms for you all.

Think of death as a swift, flowing river. It is ice-cold and relentless, but you are in a boat. That boat is your body; it is life. It floats in death, but you stay on it. Now, let us think more of the river. Rivers have rocks, right? Some of them do. Let's think of death as a very rocky river, then. Life is constantly being smashed against the rocks. Of course, Life is a strong boat. But, it can't last forever. Eventually, the Lifeboat is broken down, piece by piece, with you still on board. Holes spout water up; you are closer to death than ever before. And, eventually, you fall in. You are gone. The Boat, your body, useless. Your spiritual form will sink into the depths of death, and be pulled with the current.

Alas, you have saviors. The Angels of Death like to intervene; they like to pick you out of the water, build you a new boat, and set you off once again, alive. But, those who were not good; those souls which do no good for the world, do not get saved. They get no new boat, they get to be borne down the river, over the waterfall, and into the pit.

I like to liken the pit to a lake, for it is much calmer than death. This, the lake, is where you will be pulling souls from. Of course, that's only for ethereal Necromancy, which we will get to later on...

The Harsh Reality

Since you've got a minor understanding of death itself, it's time to go into the more Necrotic sections of Necromancy. Now, if you have a weak stomach, I advise you against this art. Perhaps Demonomancy is for you? Either way, it requires a liking, or at least a respect, for corpses. This is the most mundane part of Necromancy; the Corporal minions.

Now, we all know there are two types of people in the world. Dead ones, and living ones. But, unlike some believe, you can only travel one way in that endeavor. You can die, but you never truely come 'back to life' in your original body. Ever. In fact, it is almost impossible for a Pitted soul to ever be graced a body again. Why, you ask? Because the main job of Necromancers is NOT to slam unwilling souls into bodies. In fact, only high-grade Necromancers even use Ethereal minions (look at the next chapter), and none of those require a body. Now, let’s go through with a list of basics for Corporal Necromancy.

Corpses are your main ingredient. It makes it sound like a recipe for pie, but it is true.
Now, again against popular belief, the more meat on the body means the easier the animation. Sure, Rigor Mortus has set in, usually, but that still means you have joints, nerves, and muscles in your minion, allowing for easier and less straining bindings on the body.

For example, if you were to bind a skeleton, you would have a lot of trouble, and use a lot of blood, trying to bind every joint, hold every bone together, and so on, often for less of a minion than you would have gotten from a fresh Cadaver.

Kudd-Gro'Feesah: He's been around for a long time since mankind was born. In ancient times he was ruthless and powerful until he raged a war against the Gods, his name then was Satan. Current Tiien only remembered him by one name and he’s back after the nuclear war, freed from his prison in the Inferno, which ended the modern world. He is the lord of Demons and Infernal magic to rip apart the Gods’ most precious creation: The world itself.

Gornun'Tu-Gash: Kudd's right-hand man, he's been with the Dark Lord since the beginning of time. He is a mere rat compared to his master, but even the most powerful mortal Demonomancers pale in comparison to him. He specializes in using mortal's weaknesses against them, especially greed.

Gro'Kree: Bird-like demons who feed primarily on human flesh. They are known by their distinctive "Kree" screech.

Gro'Dorn- They are the grunts of the demon force. They're known for their swiftness and deadliness in combat. They have minimal control over fire, classifying them as Pyromancers. Sometimes, they are also called Imps.

Gro'Shai- These demons are some of the most powerful and feared, albeit least understood. They are often known as Wraiths, and have no 'real' physical form. They are ethereal to anything in the Mortal Plane, thus cannot do damage. BUT, they are the only demons capable of possessing a living creature, taking over its body, and not tricked out then the effect might become permanent.

Gro'Na- Sometimes considered the most powerful demons; the Gro'Na are the few, few demons with free will. Not only can they deny Kudd's call- like demonomacer bound demons- they can also use any magic they want as they seem to not to be limited to a certain Blood. It is assumed that Kudd'Gro-Feesah and Gro'Na are cut from the same cloth.

(This isn't EVERY demon out there, just the majority and important ones so feel free to use your imagination!)

Mystery Entities

Chessmaster-A formless entity, sealed away long ago by the Gods. They have forgotten its existence. Now, it's exerting more and more influence on the world (Primarily through his Wild Generals), watching for a reaction, any reaction, from the Gods. But for now, they seem to be caught up in dealing with their own affairs.

Xanaphya, Dyesa, and Kyiir- They are three minor goddesses, creations of a banished Naga God Helkyso and mothers to the Naga race. To survive on the mortal Realm, they’ve created a small pocket of reality and isolated themselves from the world for eons. Each one taking turns watching the world move on, seasons endlessly changes, the nuclear war, and more passing through their eyes as one stayed awake while the other two slept…until now.

Notable Twilight Characters

Ovak Regdar - the mysterious Archamage that is currently bed ridden thanks to a rumors of illness. Unable to watch over school proceedings, Ovak is rarely seen outside his quarters within the very school itself but his presence is very much felt through its stone walls. For now, he’s hired Khan to look over his affairs until he’s well enough to be up to the task once again.

Death, Rebirth, and the Pit

Death- When a person dies, the soul vacates the body and leaves it as a lifeless husk. Little respect is shown for corpses, as the dead are not considered sacred. The soul is then brought to the Underworld, Gaurot's realm, to await judgment by its Angel of Death which will be tending to it.

Rebirth- The Angel who attends to the soul depends on how the soul was forced to leave it's body. If the soul leads a bad life, it is forced into 'The Pit', basically a place of torture for souls. If a necromancer summons a spirit, he/she pulls it from the pit.

War

War tends to those who are killed in any violent manner including murder. Those who are claimed by war get a thorough judgment. Then, they are reborn or put in the Pit.

Famine

Famine tends to those who died because of a lack of something. Stillborn children, starved, or dehydrated souls are returned here and reborn, seeing as their death usually constitutes for suffering in the pit. No Famine souls will ever be put in the pit.

Malady

Malady tends to the souls of those who died from any illness, or poison.
Malady Souls are given judgment then placed in the Pit or Reborn.

Time

Time is the keeper of every soul which dies from other means than those covered by the other Angels. Natural deaths other than illness, death from age, etc.
Time Souls are given judgment then placed in the Pit or Reborn.

Metals, Ores and Minerals

Metals and ores: Ores is the beginning stage of metals and often range in s depending on the element, usually a different then refined version. Glittery minerals and odd ed rocks are found within the earth of Tiien, this is the stuff most miners seek to make their living. Some animals of Tiien have developed the ability to create such materials upon their surface, which the world has learned to stripe and use, but the purest as well as the most sought after materials is the naturally occurring stuff. Most look like rocks or dirt, so only those with the right knowledge and a sharp eye could identify what ore is what metal from just their ore stage.

~Greystone~


Info:

Very light weight, but brittle and difficult to make into a solid shape through pounding. A common metal that can to use to make arrowheads, the metal has a sought after property of being poisonous which can take hours to even days, depending on the target or number of arrow that managed to pierce the hide to affect. Eventually it kills the victim unless the blood is purified and herbs administered soon, the mending taking several weeks. Most the Greystone comes from Southern Eanian mines where miners toil day and night in the quarries to harvest and seek the rich ore veins reserves there. Unrefined Greystone, or also known as Lead, takes on a blackish grey like wet concrete but when one finally manages to mold into an arrow tip, this metal takes on a lighter grey hue.

~Slowsilver~

Info:

A weaker relation to silver, it’s considered inferior in comparison and rarely used in combat or high heat requirements like cooking, armor, or other similar situations. It does serve as a suitable replacement for silver within in decoration and jewelry, usually in medals. Mostly found in the Northern Naersan regions, the most concentrated source is near Hearth town. It’s a silver , bright and shiny when refined but when in its natural state, it’s tarnished to a metallic grey with shiny and glossy appearance.

~Copper~

Info:

Lower quality of armor and weapons, it’s often cheaper despite its weak strength in comparison to other metals for town militia or poorer wannabe adventurers to carry around. Due to its malleability and durability against elements, its ideal use for amulets and other rune crafts useage. Usually found in the Eanian mountains, both the dwarves of Ironstead and human town of Hearth has mined this material for a long time. A dull, muddy brown ed metal in its purest form. When the metal melts down and purified, then it turns into s into tarnish brown with a tint of green.

~Bronze~

Info:

A cheaper but very suitable option compared to copper, it’s more commonly used. Most armies equip their expendable or rookies as it costs little to replace when damaged. Primarily it’s found in Oelik Hold, however slim trace reserves are within Ironstead and Hearth as well in Yarosmere’s Matash near the Naga territory. Starts off as a yellow green ed ores, often mistaken for copper by amateurs, once refined the metal takes on a deep reddish orange . With age and years, the metal becomes duller turning to a slight black-blue tint like ancient bronze statues.

~Mithril~

Info:

Due to unknown properties within the metal, it has a high resistance and negates most magic. More practical in strength then Bronze or Copper and cheaper than Fortite or other more costly materials, it is able to be fashioned for even low ranking officers. Thanks to the plentiful sources almost all soldiers are equipped with shields made from Mithril making most magic useless. Taking the same appearance as Slowsilver, a dull grey ing, when Mithril is refined the tone lightens to a blue-white hue.

~Crugheye~

Info:

Due to the differences in from ore into metal, it’s called Crugheye since in Orc stories of old the Major god has eyes of platinum and obsidian pupils. A rarely used metal for weapons or armor because of its rarity and high value, but a few wealthy have been known to request such armor made from it. Originally the Crugheye ores starts off as deep obsidian that when exposed to heat and cooled turns a platinum .

~Steel~

Info:

Steel is refined iron supplemented by chemicals that are found in coal that can be found in a few places within Tiien, each one different has standard or qualities like sought after Dwarven Steel which has a slight golden tint to the less renown but commonly used Steel-oak from Ghannos’s elfish lands . However there is a phenomenon that steel coal can be found naturally in the Scorch lands. Due to the wastelands’ toxicity, any human that enters here will be killed within minutes making it only possible to acquire though traded unless one is an Esyire. It starts off as black coals into a hard blue silver metal.

~Fortite~

Info:

Slightly higher quality then Steel, Fortite is stronger and found in the Western Eanian Mountains. A rare metal can be rather costly depending on the amount availability at the time. Large deposits can sometimes lower price to a slightly more reasonable range but instances like this are rare. Naturally it’s a mother of pearl in its raw form but once refined, it takes on a light salmon-pink hue.

~Adamantite~

Info:

Due to its low melting temperatures against certain magic, this makes it useless when going against mages. Armor becomes a death trap while weapons simply melt, leaving the bearer helpless and unarmed when pryomancers or other magic able to create heat attack. Pushing aside its poor magic resistance, it’s one of the hardest materials around and a must for most offices in mundane combat against normal weapons. It among one of the few metals that retain the same , bright metallic silver, both in its raw state as well as in its refined stage.

~Godstone~

Info: Widely believed to be the strongest metal around, Godstone is normally used to outfit kings, rulers, high ranking officers or nobility during war times. It is expensive in price, likely the main reason only the richest can afford to wear it, and currently there’s only enough known Godstone to create 30 sets of armor in all Naerse. Much of it is located within Djarkel, the only place this stone is found, as the quarry is heavily guarded by elite troops day and night. Starts off completely red and becomes pure white when properly refined, however any missed step or flaw in the process can result in the material taking on a notable off white cream .

~Magebane~

Info: A highly value and sought after metal in all of Tiien mainly for its high resistance against magical attacks. While it has almost flawless and total protection against slashes and stab, too much weight or force behind a blow- 100 PSI unaided by kinetic force- will crash it like paper. This factor alone makes Magebane inferior to Godstone when it comes to that aspect though it’s countered by the fact almost 99% of all magic cannot get past, destroy or weaken an inch thick sheet of it. However, this quality also makes it cost an insane amount of money to even acquire something so little as a quarter foot sheet square about 1/16th inch thick. A dirty white that becomes a rich, lush mother of pearl when fully refined, the beauty added to its overall value.

~Madness Ore~

Info:

A special material found in deep parts of the Ravine, it’s toxic to direct touch in its raw state causing bouts of insanity and sensory numbing. These effects worse the longer you’re exposed to it, those willing to or able to melt, purify, and shape it are very few. However when it’s been refined then it’s harder than steel. Within the Ravine, the ore veins are deep reddish orange which when melted and hammered out out by the very few artisans becomes metal with a slight reddish hue to it.

~Iron~

Info:

Another common material found throughout the world and a rather widely used metal. It’s found in anything from war items like armor and swords to common, mundane things of pots and pans. Due its plentiful supply, it’s not nearly as pricy as materials like Godstone or Steel. Unlike most other metals, Iron’s strength and life span is depended on the skilled hand of the smith that molds it. Too much shaping weakens the Iron as well as lowers the lifespan, so the very skilled mastered blacksmiths are the most sought after and usually put their heart and soul in their works. Iron is a dull, tarnished black grey that sparkles in the light as an ore.

~Ebony~

Info:

A volcanic metal formed only in certain locations in the world. A metal so rare that there are no natural sources so all Ebony is artificially made, usually by demons or those who can withstand volcanic heat. It has a natural sharp edge, but is no harder than iron making it the less used of the two. It is the only metal that is pure onyx when refined and doesn’t seem to give off a reflection when finished hence the name.

~Crummite~

Info:

A curious material that is so durable that it is difficult to shape and pound into form. However, they can be commonly made into rough shapes of preexisting weapons, making them easier to change into another with scarce materials.

~Ironwood~

Info:

Not actually a metal, but there is hardly a difference when comparing strength and production. These woods can match even steel in durability while being much more plentiful and even renewable. The conditions needed to grow Ironwood are very specific, but now an entire forest has been treated to accommodate these trees. Though naturally found only in the lands of Ghannos, they are used by their own people often and rarely exported. The currently only existing supply within Naerse is at Twilight College grown by the Herbamancers in the advance classes.

~Runestone~

Info:

These pale ed rocks are naturally smooth and ideal for carving rune symbols in. They can hold magical properties very efficiently, though the stones themselves are no more durable than your average rock. They are collected due to their magical efficiency, typically then inscribed with runes and used for the creation of magical artifacts or as part of the ink itself. Finding a great many Runestone cluster together may also mean that there is a source of Crystalloids nearby as well.

Gems of different s, hues, and effects, Crystalloids are part of the basics for all forms of magical crafting. While Runes can provide limited enchantments, Crystalloids can provide an indefinite amount of energy to the same runes and without having to use your own magic to activate them. Crystalloids also come in different elemental varieties, like fire crystalloids, nature crystalloids, even necromantic crystalloids.
