Herculean Academy, The Top School for Aspiring Superheroes: Prologue

- Vice Principal Nina Smith -

Nina smiled at Deia's response, though her shoulders tensed as she clearly heard how difficult it was for the girl to speak and felt somewhat guilty for forcing the girl to do something she was so unfamiliar with. "Good girl," she said with a nod, having to resist the urge to give the girl an encouraging hug.

'Don't worry,' she thought to herself. 'Things will get easier. You'll get used to your new life.'

It was then Nina heard someone speak up, "I'm sorry I didn't hear who's my roommate. My name is Tarquin Hayes." Nina turned slightly as she was approached by a small brunette boy, and the Vice Principal pursed her lips into a frown. Had she left someone off the list? That was very unprofessional of her.

She got up to her full height, keeping her eyes on the boy, and she got the sense he was slightly frightened of her. She ran through the list of names in her head before giving a small nod. Tarquin Hayes. Yes, she thought she could recall that name. He was a boy with quite an unusual power in that he could summon the inventions of historical figures. Nina was surprised she had so easily forgotten him, but this could be easily remedied. "I apologise," she said to Tarquin. "It seems I must have missed your name. Give me a second." She quickly hurried through a list of names in her mind before selecting one. "You can room with Graham Turner and Scorpios McRae." She paused before glancing around, searching out the two boys. "They should be somewhere around here." She then raised her voice. "Graham Turner? Scorpios McRae?" she called.

But uh...I haven't even looked in the advanced section. It seems too daunting for me. But I am diggin' everyone's posts here. They don't have to be long, they just have to have character. And I think everyone has that down, if I might pat everyone on the back for a little bit.

I have checked the Advanced section occasionally just see if there is something that catches my eye, but I mostly stick over here. I'm worried about joining an Advanced roleplay and then, when I make a mistake like a typo or miss out a word - which isn't unusual for me, as most of you might have noticed - someone calling me out on it and making me feel like an impostor.

However, a lot of the roleplays I've been involved in, including this one, have certainly been on the high-end of Casual, at least in my opinion. I'm particularly enjoying this one. ^^

Sheesh, Fifi, you're pretty evil, huh? You sure you're Neutral?

And Melody was pretty cruel to that Onix. I mean, Thunder Wave right at its eyes? Ouch. But it didn't do anything anyway. Probably just temporary blindness.

Oooh, by the way, now we have no choice but to run in the direction of Cherrygrove~! This was our plan to counteract Abigail and Melody all along! MUAHAHHAHAHA!!!

XD Honestly, I don't normally like putting my characters through bad stuff, but for some reason, I kind of like picking on Peggy. Though this is probably because I know that she'll eventually get over her nervousness, though that might be a long time in the future.

Speaking of picking on Peggy: we'll get to meet Erica in the flesh once we reach Cherrygrove 8D Embarrassing parents time!

So, guys, me and Rune looked over the IC, and this is the current list of levels that Pokemon have gained, based on the amount of on-screen combat that they've done! Please note that all starters begin at level 5, and that Pokemon caught on this route can begin on level 2 or level 3, depending on personal preference~!

Also, thanks ^^ I was so tempted to have Peggy attempting to return Jasper to her Pokeball but it didn't work for some reason, so Peggy had to carry Jasper herself. Then, once they got away, I was going to have Jasper pee herself in fright. Of course, after thinking about it, I couldn't think of a logical reason why the Pokeball wouldn't work so yeah...

Plus, I decided that Peggy needs a bit of a break XP

It seemed that Arceus, or whatever being governed fate, had decided to use Peggy as its chew toy, because just as Peggy was standing there, feeling sorry for herself and thinking that this day could not get any worse...

... well, let's just say that things got worse.

"Um, guys? I… I think we have a situation," Melody called.

Numbly, Peggy raised her head just a huge Onix emerged from a nearby cave, causing several Zubat to flee in its wake. And currently, said Onix was bearing down on Melody, looking as if it was ready to eat her.

Resisting the instinct to run and leave all her teammates behind, Peggy called for her Pokemon. "J-jasper!" she shouted. Peggy searched frantically for the Houndour, and when she finally laid eyes upon her, she was surprised to see Jasper only a couple of feet away... just standing there, staring at the Onix with wide-eyes. "Jasper!" Peggy went over to the Houndour's side. She had expected the little dog to go charging at Onix, lunging and biting, but it appeared that the dog Pokemon was instead frozen in fear, even going so far as to let out a little whimper.

'Really?' Peggy thought. 'Of all the times you had to lose your nerve, you decided to do that now?' She might have been angry with the dog, shouted at it, had her fear not been more powerful.

Thankfully, both Jackson and Abigail went to Melody's rescue, though while the Onix was distracted from its first target, it seemed to have only been irritated rather than weakened. Melody's Mareep then tried to fight the Onix, charging it in the way she had expected Jasper to. Of course, being an Electric-type, it did absolutely nothing and Melody had to come to its rescue. Peggy then watched as Melody directed both Tesla and a Zubat, that she must have caught when Peggy wasn't paying attention, at the Onix, even so much as having Tesla use a Thunder Wave on the Onix's eyes. Peggy couldn't help but flinch at that.

Eventually, however, Melody must have realised she was fighting a losing battle because she called out to the rest of the group, “We’ve gotta run! There’s no way we’re beating this thing. Let’s go!”

Yeah, that sounded like a good idea.

"Come on, Jasper!" Peggy said to her Pokemon. "Let's get out of here!" Just as she was about to move away, though, she noticed that Jasper was not following. "Jasper!" When the dog wouldn't respond, Peggy got out her Pokeball and recalled Jasper back to her capsule before pocketing it. "L-let's go!" Peggy called to the others, getting ready to run at any moment.
