   APPEARANCE       

"Yeah, my hair isn’t naturally this colour, isn’t that pretty obvious?"

Marijn, or Rien (pronounce Reen) as they generally go by, is pretty average in a lot of ways. They stand at a fairly average height with a fairly average weight and blue. They’ve got a very androgynous look to them; slight curves, but nothing special. It’s something easily fixed by a binder if they want to. Most of the time they don’t bother – people struggle to figure out what their gender is by appearance anyway (which is what they aim for). They’re pretty unnoticeable, honestly, which is added to by the lazy smile that’s almost permanently stuck to their lips. 

In a contrast to their rest of their appearance Rien’s hair is the kind of thing that stands out. Dyed bright blue (like in your face bright), it’s obviously not their natural colour. Naturally their hair is properly blonde – which only makes it all the easier to dye. It’s rare that Rien’s lets their hair become its natural colour. They don’t really have much reason for this outside of liking how it looks. It’s incredibly curly natural and they just let it stay like that. They keep it relatively short with the fringe cut so it just doesn’t fall in front of their eyes.

Their eyes are also blue and quite a vivid shade, but not unnaturally so like the air. Their skin is fair verging on far too white. They just can’t seem to get a tan no matter how hard they try though they do have a sprinkling of freckles across their face. Rien has a fairly slim face, with a smooth jawline. Their nose sits evenly between their eyes, a bit on the large side (in their opinion). 

As said previously, their body is pretty flat. It’s not particularly feminine or masculine – rather somewhere in between. This is added to by the baggy shirts they wear, topped off with jeans and denim jackets. Their not super fashionable but they do put in some effort. They’re almost always found wearing some kind of hat – probably a black beanie. Rien also has a fair few tattoos. One of the more predominant ones is a circuit board design going down the majority of their left arm. They’ve also got one on their chest (roughly above their heart) of a treble clef, with the name Katja Driessen written through it and ‘I still hear your music’ written below it in Dutch. Apart from tattoos their skin is relatively unmarked by scars.

    PSYCHOLOGY       

"I don't think I can be as carefree as I used to be."

MAIN GOAL  ⫻ Ironically they've got a solid goal now, and that's to destroy or reseal the glutton (preferably the former). Fuck it for taking so many people. Also to, y'know, make it out alive.

PHILOSOPHY  ⫻ Rien’s outlook on life is to live it without caring for what other people think, without putting too much effort into it. They think it’s better to just not give a fuck rather than make a big deal out of anything. They also think that getting too close to people will just get your hurt and it’s better just to look out for yourself.

SECRETS  ⫻ With a very not caring attitude Rien has few secrets. Their biggest one is something pretty minor to other people, but probably the fact that they actually try very hard at and enjoy their subject – computing. They don’t want other people knowing they actually put effort into anything. They also don’t like talking about their family, but they don’t make much of an effort to hide it.

DESIRES  ⫻ Rien just wants to live life as carefree as possible, enjoying their time. Whether that is playing video games at home or getting drunk at parties it doesn’t matter as long as they have a good time. 

SEXUALITY  ⫻ Pansexual. Rien doesn’t particularly care about gender when it comes to dating. 

FEARS  ⫻ Rien fears losing anyone that they get close to, so they just don’t get close to anyone. They also fear disappointing their twin sister and the wishes she had for them. 

REPUTATION  ⫻ Though they’ve only been in town for a couple of years Rien’s reputation is pretty much of someone who is lazy, carefree and occasionally makes trouble. They’re not particularly looked upon fondly by those of the older generation (what with being so open about their gender and sexuality) but have a decent reputation at the academy. 

PET PEEVES  ⫻ People who butt into other people’s business or are too full of themselves and thus try to push their opinions onto other people.

QUIRKS  ⫻ Rien shrugs a lot, especially in the middle of conversations even where there is no need to.

   BACKSTORY      

"I feel like my past is coming back up again, with a risk of repeating. I want to avoid that and not lose someone again."

Marijn grew up in the Netherlands, predominantly in the city of Utrecht. They were born to a single mother and with a slightly younger twin sister, Katja. Their mother passed away when they were both quite young, too young to be properly affected by it, from illness – she had always been poorly. The two were put into foster care and jumped between families. They always managed to stick together and as a result had a close bond.

At ten Rien and their sister were adopted by a relatively young couple who could not have children of their own. The two flourished under proper parents, with Katja especially growing attached. They were both very artistic and would often sketch or paint together. Rien even took up an instrument so their sister wouldn’t be alone in learning the violin – though they much preferred sketching.

Growing older Katja got more and more sickly, before getting diagnosed with a degenerative disease and given only a few years to live. This, unsurprisingly, hit Rien hard. They really counted Katja as their only friend or family – so what would they do when they lost her. 

It was at the age of fifteen, just a few weeks after their birthday, that Katja passed away. Rien tried to continue living normally – that’s what their sister would have wanted after all. But it was difficult to draw without her there and to pretend to care about anything anymore. So they just didn’t, deciding that growing attached would only get them hurt. They stopped doing traditional art in favour of digital, because it wasn’t quite as painful, and discovered their skill at computer science – throwing themselves into it.

Their adopted parents decided it would be best to start fresh in the hope that it would help. They entirely upped and moved country, all the way to USA and Farmer Hill. It was easier for Rien there, to pretend things hadn’t happened and to just live their life. They worked hard, though, to get accepted into Grand Ridge Academy as they graduated – and got a place to attend studying Computing Science.

After the camping trip that went wrong, Rien was as shaken as the rest of them – and came out of it able to bring their drawings to life. They tagged along with the others while trying to figure out what was going on but ultimately didn’t really contribute. They did stop Billy from (maybe?) throwing Rita into the wall, providing a drawn animal instead.

   SKILLS & TALENTS      

"Oh yeah, I'm sure my coding skills will be a big help now."

Computing Science ⫻ Rien is good with computers, but especially focusing in software – they can program in a few different language quite well (Java, Python, C, HTML/CSS mostly). They do video game programming a lot but also for more practical things, making some money off designing websites for other people. They can also do a bit of low level (assembly) code.

Art ⫻ Rien is very talented at art. She used to excel in traditional art, especially pencil sketches and oil paintings but hasn't done that for a while. Instead she now specialises in digital art using the graphics tablet she has for her computer. 

Dutch ⫻ Rien is fluent in Dutch, as it's their first language. They speak it better than they do English and it's the language they use when at home with their adoptive parents. Along with this they speak a bit of German, enough to get by.

   ABSTRACTION

ABSTRACTION  ⫻ Artistic Animation, the ability to create things from drawings.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION  ⫻ Animation is maybe not the best way to describe it, because Rien cannot really create living things (normally). If Rien draws some kind of object and focuses on it they can essentially make it come out of the picture / create it. It’s created exactly as it was drawn (so black and white comes out black and white). It’s also the size that is was drawn on that paper, so if Rien draws a tiny mug they’ll get one just like it. Unsurprisingly the abstraction manifested from their love (or former love) of art.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN  ⫻ In the presence of the mountain the first thing enhanced is the size of the things Rien can make. They’re not limited to the size of the paper, but can rather make things bigger than how they were drawn. They can also actually draw and bring into the world living beings (as long as they actually exist) – so they could draw a plant and bring it to life, or a cat. 

LIMITS  ⫻ In other for Rien to manifest an object out of art, they physically have to reach into the painting and pull it out, all while focusing on it. Almost like they were pulling something from another world. Which can make pulling an object out on the fly difficult, as they can't just rip it out. Or they'll damage the painting. The only way they can manifest from a distance is in the presence of the mountain (around eight meters). Once manifested, the object has all the properties of it's real life counterpart (A sword would be hard and sharp, water would flow around and be wet,). So by all means, it's "real." Which means it can be destroyed by any other means, and it may not be that useful to manifest. Though, Rien has to draw the object at least somewhat realistically - or it'll crumble to pieces upon being manifested.

WEAKNESSES  ⫻ Manifesting art drains the "color" out of Rien. In a literal and metaphorical sense. They'll literally start to lose the color out of their body and clothes until they are black and white. On the other sense, they'll gradually begin to lose their emotions, and ability to feel anything pleasurable. In the most extreme cases, they'll be a hollow, emotionless, husk, that cannot taste, smell, or feel anything good. In addition, water is the primary counter to their manifestations. If exposed to water, they'll gradually lose shape and then fall apart. Getting submerged would completely destroy them.

   APPEARANCE       

"You think I look weird? You looking for a fight, huh?"

First noticeable thing about Caelea is that she's short. There are people that are shorter, sure, but not very many. She pretends not to care about this - and honestly she doesn't, unless someone makes a comment about it. Then she'll make a big deal about it. But that'd happen if someone made fun of her for anything else. It's obvious by her body that's she's quite fit, with well toned arms and legs. She's slim with little extra weight - she exercises too often and eats too little for that.

Aside from the fact that she's short, adding to Caelea being easily identified is the fact that she's albino. This means that everything about her it very pale. It gives her a certain ethereality to her appearance which is only added to by the fact that she's pretty aloof. Her hair is such a light blonde that it's looks practically white. While most would be happy to have a hair colour others would have to dye to achieve it annoys Caelea to no end. She's not exactly going to blend in with it is she? Still she keeps it long enough so that it falls below her shoulders. It's quite feather like and messy, often tied back to prevent it from falling in front of her face.

Caelea’s skin is, unsurprisingly, very pale. To the point where the smallest bit of sun could burn her. It’s a pain, really. Her face is quite round and lacking in any sharp edges – quite long in shape. Her nose and lips are well proportioned to it. She has eyes that are technically very pale blue. However in certain lights they look more purple then anything, and sometimes even have a reddish tint. She likes to stick with describing them as blue. It’s more normal.

Along with being slim and fit Caelea has decent curves for her size. Nothing too large (or annoying) but enough to make her body quite attractive. She generally lacks in scars – her hands and feet are tough and callused from gymnastics, but she doesn’t have anything else noticeable. They’re pretty obvious to in her more normal attire – she has a preference for shorts and tank tops over anything else, sometimes with a jacket on the top. She’ll swap to jeans or leggings if it’s really cold. Most of her clothes are quite plain coloured in varying shades of blue or any other colours she thinks don’t make her look washed out. Most of her clothing is quite sporty. She doesn’t have any tattoos, but she does have a right nose piercing.

    PSYCHOLOGY       

"Everyone still annoys me, but I can't bring myself to watch anyone else die."

MAIN GOAL  ⫻ Caelea’s current goal is to survive and destroy the Glutton, hopefully without many more dying. Her old goal was to, first of all, to leave Farmer Hill. As soon as she can she’s getting out. Along with this she wants to compete as a gymnast or work as an acrobat – but she knows she has limited time before she’s too old for that. 

PHILOSOPHY  ⫻ Caelea believes that if you want something you have to work for it yourself, without depending on others. She’s also of the belief that there’s not enough time in life to put up with bullshit and that you should just cut off anyone you don’t want in your life. She thinks it’s okay to be harsh if it benefits you. 

SECRETS  ⫻ Caelea’s biggest secret is probably the fact that as much as she claims to not put up with anyone’s shit that she can’t cut herself off from her parents. Is because of them that she’s going to the Academy and doing a degree she hates. She doesn’t really want anyone to find out how bad her relationship with them is. 

DESIRES  ⫻ Caelea wants to be free, in a way, to do as she chooses. She wants to do what she wants with her life without it being dictated by others. 

SEXUALITY  ⫻ Bisexual. Though Caelea has only ever really dated one guy before and it didn't last particularly long, she just knows she'd date either. 

FEARS  ⫻ Caelea fears being injured. The last thing she’d want would be to be unable to move or do what she actually enjoys. She also fears failure and disappointing his family. 

REPUTATION  ⫻ Caelea doesn’t have a particularly good reputation. Her reputation in Farmer Hill is of someone who thinks she is above everyone else (like her parents) while being way too quick to anger. At Grand Ridge, where she is around people more, she’s got the reputation of being stand offish and, again, quick to anger with incredibly changeable moods. Generally people don’t want to spend time with her. 

PET PEEVES  ⫻ People who don’t work hard and get results anyway. Also people who insist on talking to her even if she clearly doesn’t want to talk to them. 

QUIRKS  ⫻ Caelea has a habit of randomly stretching a lot, sometimes just raising her leg so that its behind her head or touching her toes. It’s not too show off but more subconscious. She also quite often stands on one leg rather than both.

   BACKSTORY      

"All my past problems pale in comparison to what happened in the past few months."

Caelea was born in Farmer Hill and has never lived anywhere else. Her parents both moved to America when they were younger, after just marrying. So she’s technically Scottish and Irish even if she’s never visited the countries. Caelea was their second child, born ten years after her older brother. A mistake, you could say. 
 
Her childhood was pretty normal, though. Her father was a banker and her mother an accountant – both well enough of that they were comfortable. With this came a certain stuck up opinion. The last thing they wanted was for their children to become farmers. That was below them. Because of her families nature Caelea didn’t have many friends in school. As she grew older the number decreased. Her parents pushed her hard to follow after them and be academically – to be like her brother who aced all his exams and easily got into Grand Ridge Academy to study mathematics. This was the last thing Caelea wanted. She was much more into sports and physical activities. Her parents said some pretty harsh things when she asked to join just a normal sports team. 

So she learned simple gymnastics herself and worked on her flexibility through videos online all while going to school. When her brother graduated and got a good job in Farmer Hill she confided in him – he wasn’t as bad as her parents. Grudgingly her brother agreed to take her to gymnastics classes out of town, claiming that he was spending time with his sister once a week. Caelea excelled and enjoyed herself for once.

Then the end of high school came and with it the prospect of College. It was the last thing Caelea wanted to do but she wasn’t exactly given a choice. So, she got a place doing accounting at Grand Ridge because her parents made her and because she can’t say no to them. After all, the last thing she wants to be is a disappointment.

Since coming to College things haven’t gone to well – what with barely escaping for her life a few times, and discovering she’s got some weird ass ability to manipulate air. She watched her only friend killed in front of her by the glutton, and immediately after helped Paige get away. 

She’s not going to watch someone die again if she can help it.

   SKILLS & TALENTS      

"At least I can run away if I need to..."

Gymnastics / Acrobatics & Flexibility  ⫻ Caelea's main skills comes with her flexibility, trained over the years, and the gymnastics that she's learned. This helps with balance and looking cool for no reason by doing back flips or walking on her hands. 

Quick Footed  ⫻ Not the most useful talent, but Caelea is quite a fast runner (though doesn't have the most stamina) and can move about quite easily.

   ABSTRACTION       

"I'm kinda getting the hang of blasting bad guys out of the way."

ABSTRACTION  ⫻ Air Manipulation, the ability to control air

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION  ⫻ In actuality Caelea’s ability isn’t quite full blown Air Manipulation. She can control air but only in a more limited way – she can essentially create blasts of air out of her hands or feet. These have a range of maybe up to a foot. She can control just how powerful the air is, from a light breeze to a very strong gust. It’s obviously only useful in close range but allows her to do things such as propelling herself into the air or softening a landing. It can also blow stuff away and if she used it at its strongest on someone it would be quite damaging. 

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN  ⫻ In the presence of the mountain Caelea’s power becomes more full blown out air manipulation, so its controlling air in the more traditional sense. She no longer has to strictly shoot air out of her hands or feet and the distance is much greater, probably about ten times the amount.

LIMITS  ⫻ Caelea's ability has a painfully short range, which means it's limited, but quite strong. Her ability may have a lot of raw power, but it lacks precision. She may be able to knock a car over with wind, but would find it hard to move a threading needle.

WEAKNESSES  ⫻ Caelea's power disrupts airflow on a minor spectrum. Which essentially means it's hard for Caelea to breath while using her air powers, to the point where it becomes incredibly difficult. She may suffocate herself if she isn't careful with her power.

   OTHER

Not really, apart from the fact Caelea is a remake of a character from way back.

   APPEARANCE       

"I’ve been told I’m handsome by some. It’s not something I concern myself with."

Min-Jun, who often just goes by Min to simplify things, is on of those people who is unfairly attractive without trying. He got the best traits out of both of his parents – and it’s wasted a bit, because he only cares about his academic ability. Min isn’t particularly tall but he grew an inch taller than his father so he was never going to reach much further. His build is the closest thing to average – he isn’t incredibly skinny but a high metabolism keeps any weight in check. If he did any frequent exercise he’d probably have a good build. 

Min’s face is well defined, with noticeable cheekbones and hard edges. His eyes curve inwards slightly, a brown that’s practically black. They’re a bit on the small side but go well with his other features. His skin tone is a soft yellowish-gold. His hair is practically black, with a slightly brownish sheen to it. He keeps it short and neat with just a bit of a fringe. Something easy to manage.

Min pulls of simple clothing too well, looking good even if he’s just wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Often he’ll be found in just that – it’s more comfortable to work in. If he’s actually meeting people he’ll probably upgrade to a shirt and darker trousers. He owns his fair share of suits thanks to his parents which he saves for the special occasions. More practical and warm clothing is maybe the one thing he is lacking. Min tends to dress in monotone black, white and grey with a little bit of blue thrown in.

    PSYCHOLOGY       

"I need to be the best, to protect my cousin."

MAIN GOAL  ⫻ Min wants to take on his parents business and take it even further, expanding it all across the country and becoming a business entrepreneur. To survive.

PHILOSOPHY  ⫻ You won’t get anywhere if you don’t work hard, but there’s no point in putting effort into something you’re not good at. Min believes in people sticking to their strengths and not straying. He’s also self critical and thinks others should be too, always trying to better themselves.

SECRETS  ⫻ Min knows something about Tuyen’s father’s disappearance, having overheard his parents talking. He won’t tell her though. Along with this he actually doesn’t particularly like his mother, not that he would ever say that to another family member.

DESIRES  ⫻ Min wants to leave Farmer Hill one day to go somewhere bigger. He also wants to continue to gain knowledge. 

SEXUALITY  ⫻ Heterosexual

FEARS  ⫻ Min-Jun fears failure and not achieving his goal, while disappointing his family. Along with this he fears losing the friendship with his cousin. 

REPUTATION  ⫻ Min’s reputation is mixed – he is well thought of for his intelligence and ambitions among his parent’s generation, but this opinion is tarnished for some by the fact he is not white. Among those his age he is seen as a bit of a stuck up and intelligent snob.

PET PEEVES  ⫻ Careless people and those who do not think before they do something. 

QUIRKS  ⫻ Min will often chew on a pen or something else when thinking hard.

   BACKSTORY      

"My family raised me well."

Min-Jun had a relatively normal upbringing. When he was five his cousin, Tuyen, moved in with them due to her father’s disappearance. Min was quick to get on with her – always taught that family was important by his parents. And without any other siblings she quickly became like a little sister to him. 

Min always had the wait of his parent’s expectations on him. His grandparents had came over to start a simple business, just buying in goods you couldn’t get in Farmer Hill and selling them there. From that starting point it had expanded until his father took over. And Min would take over from him. His parents always pushed him to be the best, teaching him to constantly work hard. This combined with his natural intelligence meant that he excelled and easily gained his parent’s pride.

He knew that his cousin didn’t get the same support he did, so tried to help her a little himself. He’d always encourage her to do the things she loved after seeing her struggle with academics – he’d always believed it was best to do something you were good at. He was the one who made sure she aspired to do writing and made his parents allow her to drop science subjects in high school. If anything he was proud of her like any older brother would be.

Min got into college as expected of him, studying Economics and Mathematics. He hasn’t socialised very often, concentrating on working, but with his cousin now around he’s likely to be dragged out a little bit more.

Min hasn’t done much during the last part, just following the group and making sure Tuyen survived.

   SKILLS & TALENTS      

"I know that I’m intelligent, but I still work hard."

Intelligence  ⫻ Min-Jun is incredibly intelligent, like far above average. Most things academic come easily to him, but he doesn’t have an artistic bone in his body and struggles to explain things simply. 

Diplomatic  ⫻ While not social in the sense that he’s good at making friends, Min is incredibly diplomatic – easily sweet talking people and knowing how to say the right thing.

Photographic Memory ⫻ Aiding his intelligence is the fact that Min has a very very good memory. He just has to read something once, or maybe twice, to remember it.

   ABSTRACTION

SIGIL & LOCATION  ⫻ An eye on the back of his neck

ABSTRACTION  ⫻ Psychometry, the ability to perceive information from objects and people

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION  ⫻ Min’s abstraction allows him to gain knowledge about an object, or a person, through touch. This information varies. For objects it might be who made and used it, along with information about what has been done with it and how it is used. For people he learns about basic facts; their names, background, where they’ve recently been, what they’ve recently done and the like. He can discern knowledge off both people and objects.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN  ⫻ In the presence of the mountain Min does not have to touch people – he can instead discern stuff from a short distance. Along with this it is possible for him to look deeper into a person, being able to replicate knowledge and skills they have. It allows him to go further into the past when looking at information related to objects. 

LIMITS  ⫻ Min's abstraction only works through touch, and it requires prolonged touch before he can pull deeper knowledge out of people and objects. He can get an object's entire history by holding it for around thirty minutes. However, he can force more information out faster if he focuses really hard. This is one of the few abilities that Awakened or other Extra-Normal beings are not immune or resistant to.

WEAKNESSES  ⫻ Min's abstraction doesn't have too many weaknesses... other than potentially suffering an information overload if he tries to force too much information out of an object at such a short period of time. This causes him a massive headache, and makes it difficult for him to tell thought from information.

   OTHER

[Insecurity]

   APPEARANCE       

"I’m pretty average, really, nothing special."

Tuyen is a bit on the shorter side, but not that small in the grand scheme of things. Her mother was smaller. She has a quite stocky build – a little bit wider than most her height. Along with this she is quite flat. Not enough so that she’d be mistaken for a guy, but there isn’t really that much there. She has a little bit of weight to her too which mostly goes to her legs. There isn’t much but it’s enough that she has to watch what she eats.

Tuyen’s hair is a dark brown-black, more brown in warmer lights. It falls down just past her shoulders and keeps relatively straight without much work. It frames a round face with a relatively soft nose and undefined lips. Her eyes are a very dark brown and a little bit bigger than normal. Her skin is golden-brown, inherited from her Vietnamese father – as many of her features are. She has very little of her mother in her aside from her hair.

Because she lacks in more feminine curves Tuyen tends to dress in nice tops and skirts, having a wide variety of combinations. She doesn’t often wear just a dress, finding it a bit stuffy, but is rarely found in something that isn’t a skirt. She does wear practical clothes when out and about around nature. She tends to prefer shades of purple, blue and pink though she isn’t very fussy when it comes to colours.

    PSYCHOLOGY       

"It's getting harder and harder to pretend I'm okay..."

MAIN GOAL  ⫻ Tuyen hopes to becoming a properly published author in the future, making money off her books while having money to travel the world and see exotic places. Now she just wants to survive.

PHILOSOPHY  ⫻ Tuyen believes in pretending to be okay and to keep up a positive outlook. However she also believes you should always lend a listening ear to friends and will always offer her help (even if she will never seek it out from others).

SECRETS  ⫻ Just how much she lacks in confident about her own abilities and her constant fear of failure. How much she needs validation from others. Not to mention her sexuality, which she’s been questioning for a long time. Her abstraction itself is a secret, at least exactly what it does to her.

DESIRES  ⫻ To be as happy as she pretends to be and to be free of the pressure of her family. She also wants to visit Vietnam in the hope she can find some of her father's family.

PET PEEVES  ⫻ People who constantly talk about their troubles and are always mopey, bring down the conversation. Also people who put themselves down (somewhat ironically).

QUIRKS  ⫻ Tuyen often hums or whistles to herself, and will just zone out at random times.

   BACKSTORY      

"At least I won't be missed by my family when I'm gone."

 Tuyen was a bit of an accident. Her mother was a farmer hill native, with parents who moved over from South Korea to set up business. Her father, on the other hand, was a post graduate student who had moved over from Vietnam to study. The two hit it off and hooked up after a little too much to drink, resulting in Tuyen. It was safe to say her mother’s parents weren’t too happy about the child out of wedlock. 

Things didn’t get much better after her birth – her mother had always been poorly and the pregnancy took its toll on her, meaning she passed away when Tuyen was only a few months old. Her father did everything to try and raise her himself – including submitting to the whims of her mother’s family. Tuyen doesn’t have many memories of this time, but what she has are happy ones.

Tuyen was only four when her father disappeared without a trace. His name was added to the list of people in Farmer Hill who had just gone missing and everyone went on without saying anything. Tuyen was taken in by her mother’s brother and his wife, since they had a son just a bit older than her.

After this her life wasn’t anything spectacular. She got on very well with her cousin, Min-Jun, even as they became very different as the years proceeded. She was always in his shadow – she couldn’t live up to her aunt and uncle’s expectations. She couldn’t be as smart as Min or as perfect as Min. She pretending she didn’t care, especially to him, but deep down it slowly chipped away at her self confidence. It didn’t help that they disapproved of what she was good at.

Still, Tuyen pursued her dreams and managed to get a place to study English Literature and Creative Writing at the college. Here she’s managed to get out of her cousin’s shadow just a little bit, easily making friends in different circles from him.

After the murders during a camping trip Tuyen was haunted by her shadow and constant hallucinations. Still, she joined the rest of the group in investigating – discovering that this was some kind abstraction she had. During the fight with Scott her shadow manifested physically – allowing her to help finish him for good. But like all the others she wasn’t prepared for what was to follow and barely made it out alive.

   SKILLS & TALENTS      

"I feel like my skills are useless."

Writing ⫻ Tuyen is good at writing, both fictional and non-fictional (like essays). Her main strength does come in fictional writing and novels.

Animal Identification / Knowledge ⫻ Due to her strange fascination and love for nature Tuyen has accumulated all sorts of useless knowledge about animals. If you ever need to know the exact subspecies of an animal or a random fact she’s the girl to go to.

Imagination ⫻ Tuyen’s imagination is quite something – you could say it was overactive. She gets ideas pretty easily, especially for stories. If it’s for something non-fictional, however, don’t expect something sensible.

Languages ⫻ Due to her parents, Tuyen is fluent in Korean and Vietnamese. She speaks Korean better due to her Aunt and Uncle using it around the house a lot but has made sure to retain her knowledge of Vietnamese (though she doesn't have anyone to speak it with).

   ABSTRACTION       

"It’s a shadow constantly clinging to me and I wish it would just go away. One day it will get me killed, I'm sure of that."

SIGIL & LOCATION  ⫻ Tuyen's sigil is located on her chest right above her right breast. It's a featureless silhouette-like figure of herself that's all black, but it's in a poised stance with a hand in the air, ready to stab. Instead of the knife being in the sigil's hand, it's in the silhouette's chest.

ABSTRACTION  ⫻ The Shadow, the ability to create a shadow-like entity spawned from negative thoughts and emotions that otherwise tortures her.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION  ⫻ Linked directly to her negativity, and other such dark thoughts, Tuyen has her own doppelganger that takes the shape of a shadow. This Shadow is a sentient being that near constantly taunts her, and tortures her with the deep down feelings of dread and insecurity that she has inside of herself. It has two states; inactive and active. In its inactive state, nobody but Tuyen is able to see it (Not even the Awakened can see it without certain abilities), and it actively protects her from psychic intrusion by filling the intruder's mind with screams. It can cloud Tuyen's vision by creating illusions, and fooling her into believing things that are not there, or hiding things. With enough focus, Tuyen is able to ward off the Shadow for a period of time, and get some peace - but it'll always return. 

While active on the other hand... it manifests in the physical world. It's default appearance is of a black, inky, version of herself, but one of the basest abilities of the shadow is the ability to manipulate its own shape with the only limit being that it cannot get larger than twelve feet. It can either keep its form as a shadow of Tuyen, or it can become some horrific monster, whatever is spawned from her imagination. The Shadow is capable of interacting with reality, from reaching over and grabbing objects, to attacking. It's fairly strong, too - it's strong enough to throw a fully grown man around like it's nothing, and flip over a car with sheer brute strength. The Shadow will either manifest on it's own, or if Tuyen is able to plead with it. Normally, the being is only interested with tormenting Tuyen, and will do as it pleases, but if she is able to convince it, maybe it'll assist her. It has some semblance of self preservation and will protect her if necessary.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN  ⫻ While in the mountain's graces, it's strength doubles, and is able to lift up a minivan (albeit with much strain on itself and Tuyen). It's able to grow up to twenty-five feet in height, and mixed with its strength, it's incredibly dangerous. Able to compete with some of the strongest Awakened and extra-normal beings.

LIMITS  ⫻ Tuyen's shadow, first and foremost, cannot move away from her. It's effectively clung to her body, and is as mobile as she is. This also means that she's effectively it's weak spot. Again, as stated in the description it can get up to ten feet tall, strong enough to pose a threat, and is able to near-limitlessly change its shape. Tuyen cannot control the Shadow - unless she learns to get over her insecurities, and her fear of failure. Otherwise, it'll do as it pleases.

WEAKNESSES  ⫻ As stated before, the shadow is her own worst enemy, and only wishes to torture Tuyen. It's as much of a detriment (possibly even more) as a strength, and will do anything in its power to keep her from knowing her worth. Tuyen will have to conquer her inner-doubts in other to defeat it, and control it. The two of them are linked together, and both receive the same damage. If the Shadow gets injured, the same wound will appear on Tuyen (Where ever the location of it's anatomical equivalent is). It's possible for the Shadow to receive damage that'll kill Tuyen, or be disabled. Also, the Shadow merely manifesting is a drain on Tuyen, and will cause her to feel more and more exhausted the longer it's out. Until she can't take it anymore, and the Shadow will go inactive.

 MADELINE'S  ABSTRACTION

SIGIL & LOCATION  ⫻ A black and white lotus flower on her wrist.

ABSTRACTION  ⫻ Self-Healing, a restorative energy flows through Tuyen that repairs all of her wounds, and resets her to a certain point.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION  ⫻ To reflect her thoughts of coming back to life, Madeline's abstraction gifted her the ability to heal at an accelerated rate using the same mystical force that flows through all the Awakened. Whenever she gets an injury, no matter how minor, it'll begin to glow with a mystical blue light that'll engulf it. After a few moments the light will fade, and the wound is healed. Depending on how severe the wound, the longer it'll take to heal. A stab wound would require, at most, ten minutes, while a broken leg would need an hour of healing. Anything smaller than that would either instantly regenerate, or take only a few moments. Any of Tuyen's physical injuries can be healed (except for one type of injury). Long as she can survive it, she can effectively heal from anything. In addition, she can also heal from attacks dealt to the mind, or her emotions.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN  ⫻ When in the mountain's grace, her healing rate doubles. A stab wound takes five minutes, while a broken limb requires half an hour. Again, she'll near-instantly heal from anything smaller than that. In addition, she can pass on her healing energy to other people, and heal their wounds (albeit at a much slower rate).

LIMITS  ⫻ Obstruction is the biggest limit to her self-healing. If there is an object in the way, then Tuyen cannot heal it until the object is removed from her being. Speed is also the other limit; there isn't a limit to how much Tuyen can heal at a time, but only how quickly she can do it. In addition, Tuyen can still be knocked out, suffocated, etc.

WEAKNESSES  ⫻ Fire is a big weakness, as it also disrupts her healing ability. When in the presence of fire, her healing slows down - and if it's an injury caused by fire, she actively cannot heal it any faster than any other wound. The process of healing is also a painful one, that'll make her feel twice the amount of pain as she heals.
