@Flamelord Miyu is already running around having slice of life adventures. You can just have Tartys go "You know what, I need a break... Huh, when Miyu sent me that reverse-birthday present, she said we should hang out sometime. Maybe I should see if she's available."

Well I was looking for stuff that Tartys could do in the next interlude, so that works. Once Miyu is busy having fun with her new symbiote or whatever
@Flamelord

You missed the point.

Then please tell me what the point is. Snarky comments about how I should do something without indicating what it is you think I should be doing in the context of what you deem possible in the RP does not help me decide what I should be doing to assist in world building.
@Flamelord

You're right. That does seem pointless. Maybe someone should do something about it IC instead of lampshading it OOC.

Would if I could, but given that this is an RP centered around the War, I get this nagging sensation that you wouldn't approve of making a character to go have slice of life adventures in some other part of the Nexus. And I can't exactly control where the battles are fought.

I believe that incentive isn't much of an issue. There's plenty of room for whatever cause characters are dedicated to. Its not very different from a setting like Warhammer 40k, for example. The prospect may be grim, but you still need to fight because not only can you try to do what you believe in/want to, but also because even if victory is unlikely, of you give up, defeat is certain.

In other words, you fight not to win, but to avoid losing, pretty much like any other War that had dragged for too long.

I mean, that runs into a fallacy of sorts because the fight here is 'Because I want the entire Nexus and not just my infinite portion of the Nexus.' In WH40K there are places where you don't have to ever see the front lines and you can basically live a normal life, propaganda of the xenophobic/fascist Imperium aside. Whereas in the Nexus you can't exactly tap out and go to recover somewhere where there is no influence from the War. And opposed to WH40K, the only existential threats that exist can actually b talked to, and don't pose an actual risk until all the sides sally forth to go meet in glorious combat.

After all, Alt Signia was the only fight we've had where combat took place in a pre-controlled location. Its not like we've seen any place like Cadia yet.

Isn't that the point?

I'm not sure I understand the question. KoL was disappointed that so many characters weren't gung ho to go kill each other for the sake of pointless violence. I explained why

Though she had hoped that the one who had summoned them all here would provide an answer, it seemed that she was mistaken on that being a possibility before things began to escalate, with all the hostility that was being shown towards the Beacon as per usual. It was as much the pity that so many viewed their beliefs as a nuisance, always focused on the stance towards monsters and dark magical girls rather than the sheer commitment and devotion that was involved as being part of the organization. It was something you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

She was distracted from immediately answering though by the arrival o a straggler, one that was not familiar to her. A smile rose to her face as she stepped over, shaking the other girls hand with a respectful grip. "Good evening Janet," she replied happily. "It's nice to meet you. Are you new to The Beacon?"

Unfortunately in the distraction she was unable to answer hurled accusations fist, and Natasha did so before she was able to. Honestly though the girl somewhat voiced what she was thinking, though she would never be so bold as to actually say it outright. She had a responsibility, and a duty, to try and resolve this diplomatically rather than deliberately crashing things. Though it was tempting to do so with the sorts of insults being directed their way.

Stepping forward once again, she flashed a sad smile to the one who was attempting to play peacemaker, glad for their efforts to do so in this whole mess. It was better than outright hostility at least. "Unfortunately I believe we have been misunderstood," she said, speaking up once again to make her point. "We do not seek protection from those who have become monsters, nor do we need it. Beacon is more than capable of looking after its own. But without some consideration given to our own beliefs I find it doubtful that those who lead the Beacon will accept this alliance. And there are many girls in Beacon who will refuse to work with his kind, regardless of whether we're actively fighting or not."

Personally she hoped that the others would be willing to listen, if only because it would be distressing to find so many of the regular community seemingly biased against Beacon, as if oblivious to the intent of the organization. But ultimately it was not up to her. She had said her piece, and if Victoria had not considered that then perhaps this alliance was doomed from the start. it only worked if all parties were willing to heed the alliance, and at this point she could not guarantee that every member of Beacon would do so.

Unfortunately most people aren't really motivated to fight for the sake of fighting, they're usually motivated because there's some sort of incentive involved. In a situation where it is just War for the sake of the War, but it's also a War that no one seems to be making any actual progress on, it's not surprising that discontent with the status quo is going to increase without either financial or material incentives to keep going.

Or because they've been brainwashed, but you already nixed that idea.
I do kinda get what Inner is going for though. It doesn't have to be a big change, just have some provided things that people can do in the interlude segments rather than leaving it entirely freeform. Like all that team bonding stuff Ryonara has the Maids talk about even though they never actually do it.

I mean all anyone really needs are weapons and legendary ones seem to be falling out of the sky, so...

Yeah but that's needs. Not wants. And clearly there is a niche to be filled that is being unfilled because all the Neutrals want to enslave/kill you. Which begs the question of why they're in the Nexus when they don' want to interact with anyone, but w/e. Jester.

@Flamelord Which makes no sense to me. I mean, not even Mercenaries?

To be fair the economy does run on magic to fuel an eternal war so I guess that does kinda make sense once you accept the arbitrary division of everyone who is an active combatant into the three factions.

Or Jester.
Also, we have tried to have a bar SO many times, but it just keeps getting noped.

Capitalism does not exist in the Nexus. For some reason they didn't bring a merchant race to the eternal war, don't know why.
