Well, he was, but the other gods didn’t know that. Not Aesir by blood, but considered one of them all the same with his charming smiles and witty jokes. He always had a seat at their feast, next to his bloodbrother and friend, Odin. Sometimes his penchant for gambling and sordid deals with giants and dwarves and such would drag the Aesir into messes they were not particularly fond of, but Loki was always quick to soothe the situations over with a dashing grin and an excuse ready on his lips. Then everything went to shit. Ragnarök. The prophecy was a snake spitting venom on his wounds until there was an actual snake spitting venom on his wounds while his hands were bound by the entrails of his sweet son, Narfi. After the Aesir learned of Ragnarök, Loki’s family was persecuted – his sweet children who had done no harm (except for all the times that they might have done harm) imprisoned. The betrayal hurt, and sure Loki has probably betrayed the Aesir a thousand times over, the crimes against his family still seemed a bit uncalled for. Like a woman scorned, or perhaps an extremely jealous ex, Loki stormed the Aesir’s jovial feast. He had no plan in mind, only a sharp blade for a tongue, and a few good words to share about the great and holy Aesir. A good lashing did nothing to temper the Aesir or bring back his monstrous children from their imprisonment. So, Loki had Baldr killed, his heart pierced by a mistletoe-tipped arrow. In punishment, Loki lost two of his sons: one to a mindless beast form and the other to his vicious claws. Then Loki was chained like a dog, his chains made from the flesh of his own blood. In the chaos of the fall, Loki escaped his imprisonment like a thief in the night. He vowed his revenge on the Allfather and all who helped him - Loki will watch the world burn if he has to. ██████████████████████ 𝐁 𝐢 𝐨 𝐠 𝐫 𝐚 𝐩 𝐡 𝐲   𝐁 𝐢 𝐨 𝐠 𝐫 𝐚 𝐩 𝐡 𝐲 ⌜ м σ я т α ℓ ℓ ι f є ⌟ ◉ Mortals, so ridiculously easy to manipulate. Like a puppet master, Loki pulled the strings of every mortal he encountered after falling to suit his purposes. In every town he crossed, Loki became the main attraction, and he reveled in it. Every once in a while, he’d send some poor bastard to go at Odin with a knife – just to keep the Allfather on his toes. So the Allfather knew of the hatred brewing deep in Loki’s chest. Loki had an early start in the crime industry – some could even say he invented organized crime. For a god who sustained himself off of chaos, Loki sure did like some structure in his crime organizations. Loki played his mortals like a fiddle, had them doing his bidding in no time, and used it to make himself rich. He had a hand in most things – drug trafficking, gun dealing, contracted hits – and he loved the madness his mafia wrought. Despite living the good life among mortals – rich beyond belief, successful careers, great entertainment – Loki needs his godhood back. If Loki ever wishes to truly defeat Odin, he needs his powers back while Odin is still vulnerable and weak. And if Loki is playing the long con by sleeping with his nemesis, well that’s his prerogative. ██████████████████████ 𝐌 𝐨 𝐭 𝐢 𝐯 𝐚 𝐭 𝐢 𝐨 𝐧 𝐬   𝐌 𝐨 𝐭 𝐢 𝐯 𝐚 𝐭 𝐢 𝐨 𝐧 𝐬 ⌜ α м в ι т ι σ и ѕ ⌟ ◉ What more could Loki want than the sniveling Aesir crying under his custom-made Louis Vuitton oxfords? Well, probably their heads mounted on the walls of his own personal cozy cabin in the frigid tundra of Scandinavia. Ah yes, that’s the dream. Maybe he would pull an Allfather and let the heads keep their wits about them enough that he could continue to taunt them even in death. While it sounds particularly vicious and petty, Loki hasn’t really forgiven the Aesir for their injustices towards him and his family. Even if he couldn’t have the entire pantheon, Loki would settle for just getting one over on Allbastard Odin. ⌜ f є α я ѕ ⌟ ◉ His immortal and mortal life has been so focused on his street justice that Loki doesn’t know what scares him more – losing to the Aesir or losing his children. Never to be spoken aloud, Loki is starting to believe it’s the former…

The unfortunate part is that Macaria cannot turn it off or on, and it doesn’t just stop with the dying. Like ley lines she cannot escape, Macaria is connected to anyone in her vicinity. Aches and pain bury deep in her muscles and bones – she weeps with you, her heart aching above all as you draw your last breath. Borne of the union between Hades and Persephone, Macaria has taken up the mantle of blessed death. She sends the dying away with a merciful, understanding hand. With each death she witnesses, her heart bleeds a bit more. Despite the pain she feels and witnesses, Macaria is stalwart and dutiful to the responsibility her father has delegated to her. Falling was like burning from the inside out, ripped from her purpose and scorned by her homeland. Landing was a simmer, a rising boil beneath her skin as an influx of human emotions hooked like thorns into her skin. Macaria was not built for the turbulent emotions of the living, only the stagnating regrets of the dying. Overwhelmed, Macaria fled from humanity and lived the life of a hermit, enclosed in her walls for centuries. She only ever emerged from her sanctuary in the hills of England to taste the sweet nectar of Ambrosia. Folk tales were spread about her rare sighting – a fae in the woods, a witch in the hills. Humanity changes so often. Humble huts became steel towers and brick townhouses. Eventually, there was no refuge as the humans were ever expanding. Like a bird forced from its tree, Macaria ventured into society for the first time in centuries. Her introduction to the world was not a good one – it was with bombs and death and the acrid smell of burning flesh. World War I was ravaging the lands and Macaria’s senses were overwhelmed with sorrow and anger and bitterness. With nowhere to hide, Macaria did what she did best – she helped the dying. Macaria became a nurse, serving near the western front where she tended to the wounded and helped the dying pass. And in a world of sorrow, anger, and bitterness, she saw a light. His name was Thomas and they were in love. It was a burning, consuming love, and Macaria’s senses were overwhelmed with her devotion. Thomas was a soldier and she tended to him on the battlefield, wiped the sweat from his brow, kissed the cuts on his knuckles. And when he died, when he closed his eyes for the final time, the love in her heart was blown out like a candle in the wind. The love was never hers; she had only echoed his love for her back, confusing when he began and she ended. It felt like shame, like a betrayal to the dead Thomas who, though she did not love, she cared for. Macaria has been broken by emotions that are not her own; her once placid personality has become turbulent with the vivid feelings of the living mortals. Macaria wishes for nothing but to tend to the dead again and leave the living mortals to the experts. ⌜ f є α я ѕ ⌟ ♤ Sometimes, Macaria wakes up in a cold sweat, dreams and nightmares of her godhood being forgotten. She dreams of living as a normal mortal, experiencing the pain and torture of being human. Macaria cannot think of a worst fate than forever feeling the pains and aches as vividly as humans do.

<sub>This RP is a Slice of Life and Plot Driven cocktail that will be focusing on mythological gods from ancient pantheons. Players will be playing one to three gods straight from ancient mythology navigating mortal life in the modern era. After finally settling into life on earth, the gods are once again thrown into chaos when one of their own mysteriously dies – a feat thought impossible.

When I say it is a cocktail, I mean that players will be able to choose for themselves whether to focus more on the plot aspects of the roleplay or if they would prefer to experience slice of life moments.</sub>

<sub>The immortal realms quaked under their feet, the ground rumbling like rattling breaths. Then, the realm split open, the core of their heavenly refuge cracking. The gods and goddesses shrieked and yelled in confusion. The heavens that the pantheons shared — Asgard, Mount Olympus, Takamagahara, Topan, Aaru — begin to splinter. The harvest deities, those that tend to the World Tree that grants the gods their immortality, glance into the leaves of the large oak as the World Tree begins to blacken and crumble.

It was a calamity for the gods. Their homeland being destroyed in-between heartbeats. The tree — Yggrasil, Yax Imix Che, the Tree of Ambrosia, Fusang - poisoned right under their noses. Without the divine power of the World Tree, the energy of the World Tree’s roots spread across their celestial perch, their world begins to shatter. Right before the World Tree dies, before the ground disintegrates beneath their feet, a god plucks a single fruit from the tree.

Then, they fall.

A god cannot pinpoint exactly when they fell, for time has passed too long, but it was somewhere in the first century. Without their land and the strength of their divinehood, the mortals began to forget them. Over time, some pantheons began to disappear, having given up on godhood.

Their powers dwindled and they feared their immortality would be gone soon, too, without Ambrosia to sustain them. The god, the Fruit-Bearer, offered salvation to them - they planted the seed of the fruit and, from it, a new tree took root. Every year, a deity must consume Ambrosia, the nectar of the fruit from the World Tree, or else they lose their godhood. The first years it was a solemn occasion, where they honored their fallen brethren and sister pantheons. As the years went on, they became more enraptured within themselves, and the yearly visit to the World Tree has become a festival lasting two weeks.

It is October of 2022 and the Festival of Life is about to commence in Seattle, where the new World Tree has been planted. The gods come from all over the world, and some who have called Seattle their home, to participate in the festival.

Little did they know that the calamity of the Fall would come to haunt them once more.</sub>

We also want to stress that it is your choice how you want to play. If you prefer slice of life, then there will be moments and choices to take advantage of that. However, there will be a plot that runs in the background to drive the roleplay forward to avoid stagnation. Interacting with the plot or not is your own personal choice. <sub>Like Descension 1.0, we will be using Narration Posts to move the plot forward. Narration posts will be written by the GM and will mark the end and beginning of a new scene. This is rather straightforward and used by most roleplays in some capacity.

We will give a two-week advance most of the time before a scene ends and a new narration post is posted. There will be times where I might make the executive decision to push a post out in order to keep momentum, but for the most part there will be a warning. To keep the narrative flow, we ask that you finish up your scenes before then or utilize the good ole Flashback in your post.</sub>

<sub>Event Mode is a new mechanic that we are very excited to be using! It is inspired by tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. Of course, don’t be worried about failing a dice roll and dying or something. Event Mode is used for when a player wants to get involved in the plot.

How this works is that we will hold a private DM conversation with the player(s) in which we set the scene. The player(s) will make their own creative choices and we will change the scene accordingly. This is for when someone wants to write a plot post, we can give them the barebones of a scene they can write in their post later on. Player(s) do not need to explain their choices to us in DMs or give reasoning, as their character’s thought process can be explained in their post.

To get involved in an Event Mode, we will most likely put in narration posts leads that a character can follow up on. If your character wishes to follow up on one of those leads, then hop over into the designated discord channel and put in a ticket! Be warned, though, not all leads will be listed. If you wish to enter Event Mode without leads being given, just make a ticket and we will get back to you.

<sub>No deadlines! …to an extent.

The only one who really has a deadline is me, unfortunately. Narration posts will be stated when they will be posted, as stated above, and as such it is your responsibility to wrap up your scene beforehand. If you cannot wrap it up, because sometimes life is like that, then try to use flashbacks in your next post (also stated above). For the most part, you won’t get penalized for missing narration posts here and there.

HOWEVER! If you ghost in the discord, are not active enough in the thread after given a warning, or are holding writing partners back, then I reserve the right to kill off your character. Don’t worry! If you are COMMUNICATING with me and forewarn me of inactivity, I will just put a pin in your character and scene.

We are here to have fun, which is why I am not going to babysit you guys. I get that sometimes life gets in the way or inspiration isn’t flowing. Me breathing down your neck isn’t fun for me, so I doubt it’ll be fun for you.</sub>

THE COLOSSUS NO LONGER EXISTS.

<sub>The Colossus restricted a lot of storytelling and made the plot overly-complex. With a new simpler, but no less interesting, plot in place, the Colossus is no longer needed as a plot device.

Furthermore, I am removing the "all pantheons allowed" approach. There are three reasons that I am doing this: one, for the plot; two, to avoid spreading characters across too many pantheons and limiting interaction; three, to avoid obscure pantheons being chosen which, in the past, has affected viability of relationships for that deity.</sub>

<sub>This RP is a Slice of Life and Plot Driven cocktail that will be focusing on mythological gods from ancient pantheons. Players will be playing one to three gods straight from ancient mythology navigating mortal life in the modern era. After finally settling into life on earth, the gods are once again thrown into chaos when one of their own mysteriously dies – a feat thought impossible.

When I say it is a cocktail, I mean that players will be able to choose for themselves whether to focus more on the plot aspects of the roleplay or if they would prefer to experience slice of life moments.</sub>

<sub>The immortal realms quaked under their feet, the ground rumbling like rattling breaths. Then, the realm split open, the core of their heavenly refuge cracking. The gods and goddesses shrieked and yelled in confusion. The heavens that the pantheons shared — Asgard, Mount Olympus, Takamagahara, Topan, Aaru — begin to splinter. The harvest deities, those that tend to the World Tree that grants the gods their immortality, glance into the leaves of the large oak as the World Tree begins to blacken and crumble.

It was a calamity for the gods. Their homeland being destroyed in-between heartbeats. The tree — Yggrasil, Yax Imix Che, the Tree of Ambrosia, Fusang - poisoned right under their noses. Without the divine power of the World Tree, the energy of the World Tree’s roots spread across their celestial perch, their world begins to shatter. Right before the World Tree dies, before the ground disintegrates beneath their feet, a god plucks a single fruit from the tree.

Then, they fall.

A god cannot pinpoint exactly when they fell, for time has passed too long, but it was somewhere in the first century. Without their land and the strength of their divinehood, the mortals began to forget them. Over time, some pantheons began to disappear, having given up on godhood.

Their powers dwindled and they feared their immortality would be gone soon, too, without Ambrosia to sustain them. The god, the Fruit-Bearer, offered salvation to them - they planted the seed of the fruit and, from it, a new tree took root. Every year, a deity must consume Ambrosia, the nectar of the fruit from the World Tree, or else they lose their godhood. The first years it was a solemn occasion, where they honored their fallen brethren and sister pantheons. As the years went on, they became more enraptured within themselves, and the yearly visit to the World Tree has become a festival lasting two weeks.

It is October of 2022 and the Festival of Life is about to commence in Seattle, where the new World Tree has been planted. The gods come from all over the world, and some who have called Seattle their home, to participate in the festival.

Little did they know that the calamity of the Fall would come to haunt them once more.</sub>

<sub>Like Descension 1.0, we will be using Narration Posts to move the plot forward. Narration posts will be written by the GM and will mark the end and beginning of a new scene. This is rather straightforward and used by most roleplays in some capacity.

We will give a two-week advance most of the time before a scene ends and a new narration post is posted. There will be times where I might make the executive decision to push a post out in order to keep momentum, but for the most part there will be a warning. To keep the narrative flow, we ask that you finish up your scenes before then or utilize the good ole Flashback in your post.</sub>

<sub>Event Mode is a new mechanic that we are very excited to be using! It is inspired by tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. Of course, don’t be worried about failing a dice roll and dying or something. Event Mode is used for when a player wants to get involved in the plot.

How this works is that we will hold a private DM conversation with the player(s) in which we set the scene. The player(s) will make their own creative choices and we will change the scene accordingly. This is for when someone wants to write a plot post, we can give them the barebones of a scene they can write in their post later on. Player(s) do not need to explain their choices to us in DMs or give reasoning, as their character’s thought process can be explained in their post.

To get involved in an Event Mode, we will most likely put in narration posts leads that a character can follow up on. If your character wishes to follow up on one of those leads, then hop over into the designated discord channel and put in a ticket! Be warned, though, not all leads will be listed. If you wish to enter Event Mode without leads being given, just make a ticket and we will get back to you.

<sub>No deadlines! …to an extent.

The only one who really has a deadline is me, unfortunately. Narration posts will be stated when they will be posted, as stated above, and as such it is your responsibility to wrap up your scene beforehand. If you cannot wrap it up, because sometimes life is like that, then try to use flashbacks in your next post (also stated above). For the most part, you won’t get penalized for missing narration posts here and there.

HOWEVER! If you ghost in the discord, are not active enough in the thread after given a warning, or are holding writing partners back, then I reserve the right to kill off your character. Don’t worry! If you are COMMUNICATING with me and forewarn me of inactivity, I will just put a pin in your character and scene.

We are here to have fun, which is why I am not going to babysit you guys. I get that sometimes life gets in the way or inspiration isn’t flowing. Me breathing down your neck isn’t fun for me, so I doubt it’ll be fun for you.</sub>

<sub>The Colossus restricted a lot of storytelling and made the plot overly-complex. With a new simpler, but no less interesting, plot in place, the Colossus is no longer needed as a plot device.

Furthermore, I am removing the "all pantheons allowed" approach. There are three reasons that I am doing this: one, for the plot; two, to avoid spreading characters across too many pantheons and limiting interaction; three, to avoid obscure pantheons being chosen which, in the past, has affected viability of relationships for that deity.</sub>

One day you’re a two-year-old wearing gold-plated diapers and being spoon-fed five-star gourmet baby mush, the next you’re stranded on a yacht for three days in the Florida Keys after a freak accident caused the death of both your parents. Then, you’re wearing gold-plated diapers and being spoon-fed five-star gourmet baby mush, but under the legal custody of Great Aunt Elora, an old forgotten movie star from the 60s. People always pitied Elias for his harrowing experience; but, frankly, Elias doesn’t have a single memory of it. The only reason he knows his Aunt Elora didn’t fabricate the whole story was because of the tabloids he found on google: “CELEBRITY COUPLE DIE TRAGICALLY IN YACHT FIASCO”. In the end, that’s how he really saw this supposed tragic event – a headline. Really, that’s how Elias sees most events in his life. The therapist that Aunt Elora had sent him to see when he was eleven said this was a dangerous dissociative habit that removed him from real life, but Elias just liked to think of it as reality TV caught in 4K. Being a billionaire baby, Elias never really wanted for anything, and he spent most of his life disconnected. He didn’t even cry when Aunt Elora died shortly after his thirteenth birthday. It wasn’t because he didn’t love her, or miss her, he just…figured it was about that time. She died of complications from old age in the middle of a routine plastic surgery – she wanted her nose a bit thinner. Elias knew his Aunt would roll around in her grave if the world knew that’s how she went out, so he spun a tale to the tabloids: “RETIRED ACTRESS ELORA WESTERGAARD DIES SAVING NEPHEW FROM DROWNING”. He may have gone a bit overboard with the details, but when you have enough money, people tend to write whatever you say as fact. Elias lived with his godfather for a bit, an action movie star in Los Angeles who didn’t really have any interest in raising a burgeoning teenager. Instead, he was more preoccupied with clinging to the last vestiges of his youth and sleeping with half of Hollywood. When he turned sixteen, Elias figured it was about time he got emancipated – hired a good lawyer, flaunted the wealth his parents left him, and moved back down to the family estate in Florida. Elias enrolled himself in a good private school there – King’s Academy – and kept his celebrity past under wraps. It was easy, hiding that part of him from the students at King’s Academy. The world had pretty much forgotten him after his parents’ death, and even the irreverently irrelevant Aunt Elora couldn’t bring him to the limelight. ♠ School Life ♠ Elias daydreamed his way through classes in high school – that is, if he showed up to them. Half the time, he skipped and spent his time running wild on the beaches or lying his way into bars. When he was attending school, he liked to be in the center of attention – he was always in the center of gossip, starting group chats, and email threads with the dirtiest of details. Sometimes, he started rumors just because – they were never nasty rumors, nothing as sordid as lying about who did what with whom. Just, sometimes, he’d get bored and say one person had said something about another person behind their back – usually the two didn’t even acknowledge the other’s existence, so far removed they were in social circles. That’s what made it fun, though – seeing all the cliques and social circles fighting and switching and changing because “she said what” and “no way am I going to let that slide”. It was just some harmless fun, in Elias’s opinion. Maybe that’s why he had such a hard time getting close to people in high school, though. So disconnected from reality, he thought playing with people’s lives was harmless. No one was safe from it either; friend or foe, he pulled his little puppet strings and watched as things fell apart. Sure, some people thought he was lying or even caught onto the game, but half the time Elias was telling the truth. It was always a coin toss if he was being truthful or not and, when that’s the case, you always lose. ♠ Adult Life ♠ Aimless and without a goal in life, Elias drifted in his riches for a year after high school. There was no immediate need for him to start his life as a full-time adult, still living off the inheritance from his parents and Aunt Elora. Still, he knew it would run out eventually. Elias got into a small college with low expectations; with his grades, it was the most he could manage, and he didn’t feel the need to flash money to get into an ivy league. Not really knowing what to do, he majored in Communications, and found the subject just fascinating enough to graduate with an unimpressive grade point average. He spent a lot of his time in and after college partying. He liked dating and liked sex – didn’t like relationships, felt too constricting – so he’d date someone for a little bit, never tying himself down, and move on when he found something more interesting. Elias didn’t actively seek out his career path; he more so stumbled upon it. His godfather’s PR manager had quit in a huff during quite the scandal, though his godfather insists he fired him, and Elias was knowledgeable enough in manipulating the masses to give his godfather some emergency PR advice. After that, his godfather hired him. Elias became good at what he did, one of the best actually, and by the time he was twenty-seven, had amassed himself an impressive list of clients. Elias became a bit of a snob about it, bragging a lot that he only works for the “best of the best”.
