@Potemking: I feel as though you may have a masochistic compulsion. I've broken many a controller over Soulsborne games.

Redguards are technically the Arabians of Tamriel, so wouldn't shouting "Haji" make more sense? No disrespect to my Muslim buddies out there, just sayin'.

[2] It can also be effective in subverting the person's expectations. Take for instance Spec Ops: The Line. Looks like a boring military shooter, but is actually a grim look into the horrors of war.

((I just like LDR okay?! No judging! <.<))

She had returned to her bed after Master's brief interruption of her solitude, once more the shadows that dissipated consuming her in a black, writhing shroud, a temporary place for her to relax and recuperate, but again with the interruptions. This time Master was not the culprit. Instead, it was a peculiar young boy, who after rapping his knuckles against her chamber door, inadvertently nudged it open, revealing to himself the spectacle of a girl close to his age lying in her bed surrounded by what appeared to be living, breathing shadows.

At that point, the CD player was still on, and the song had switched as if to answer the boy's first question, gently filling the room with its smooth, tender melody at a low volume.

Kurohime, as the shadows around her died out, she turned on her side to face him, her blood red eyes once dim, now seeming to glow like embers of a flickering candle. "Who are you...?" She whispered to the boy, her voice soft and deadpan, not a hint of any sort of emotion, just as the rest of her face was blank in expression.

"Hey can I sit here, or are you saving it...?"

Taking a sip of her iced coffee, Liz's apathetic eyes scanned upwards to the source of the voice, a girl she knew from one of her classes. Lightly she shrugged her shoulders, as if to indicate yeah she could sit here, then went back to drawing in her sketchbook, pausing a moment to nibble on her sandwich. "You're...Audrey, aren't you?" She said while in the midst of putting the finishing touches on her artwork, her eyes never once leaving the drawing in question. "We have literature together."
Guh....I apologize in advance for that shit post. Work really fucked me today.... -____-*
OPERATION - FALLEN ANGEL

It had seemed only a few spare minutes had passed since the briefing, when it reality, the hours had flown by so quick while she prepared herself for her first op, physically and mentally. What you Want by Evanescence was blaring loud over the speakers of the small stereo system in the gun range, getting her adrenaline pumping while she wrapped her leather gloved hands around a fully customized HK416, tango down foregrip, Trijicon ACOG scope, Magpul SOPMOD stock, and an AN/PEQ box, the works. The targets popped up on the range in quick succession, each of them she took down in several well placed headshots, some hitting center of mass, switching between semi-auto and three round burst seamlessly. She needed to be sharp, her senses keen, her reactions swift. Never did her sight leave the scope of her assault rifle, one by one tangos falling before her. She had soon burned through her fifth magazine without notice, quickly dropping it and switching to her sidearm, the black and silver Kimber Warrior 1911 nestled in her drop leg holster, peppering her last target full of .45 ACP.

Loading a fresh mag into her pistol, she cocked the slide and set it back in her holster, switching it and her rifle on safety before leaving the range. She was ready now, ready to get back out there, ready to prove herself once again as a soldier. After what happened in Afghanistan, she needed this more than anything. With only minutes to go before wheels up, she made sure to go over one last check of her weapons and gear. Her plate carrier and tactical vest fit snug around her torso, giving her comfort in knowing she had ample protection, although, she had opted for a more non-traditional boonie hat instead of her MICH helmet, easier to aim with. Next, she ran one final diagnostics check of her AR system, then, she contacted the rest.

"Team, Ev here. We've got ten mikes till wheels up. Rally up in the armory. Let's lock and load, ladies!"

Of course she didn't forget that snide remark the puta made in the hall earlier, but even so, a bitch like Max still deserved to get home safe, even if Evelyn was a pound of trigger pressure from losing her cool on the cartel queen.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the rest of the team had arrived at the armory, Ev stood up from the metal bench, discarding the stubby cigarette she had lit a while ago.

"Glad you're all here." She spoke, as always her words laden with authority and inner strength. "So...this is our first mission, girls, the moment we've trained for. The cold, rigorous months we have spent, learning to fight, learning to survive and work as a team, they have led us to this very hour. Might I say, it will be my greatest honor to fight alongside you women on the battlefield, and I will damn sure make it my promise to bring each and every single one of you home alive. I know Director Valentine and Agent Starker said otherwise, but fuck that! Never again will I leave any of my soldiers to die! I'd go through Hell for all of you, even you Maxine. And...I expect you to do the same, not just for me, but for all your sisters in arms. I can't guarantee this first outing will be easy, but if we work together, watch each other's backs, we'll make it home safe and sound. Let's gear up. We've only got a few minutes."

@KatherinWinter Okay. Sorry. I won't try to hinder the plot, nor undermine it.

@KatherinWinter *sigh* Kurohime actually has left her old life behind since she began working for Master and his mysterious organization. And he didn't exactly wonder in. More or less, Master has power of his own, so he more or less got in through the window. I kinda want the both of them to be a mystery, plus there's an underlying plot to why Kurohime is at the school.

The music had faded out after a while, leaving her in absolute silence, albeit....it was not a peaceful silence.

Suddenly, her crimson eyes shot open with a gasp escaping her lungs, as yet another presence entered the room unannounced, dark, malevolent, and quite familiar. The pungent, iron stench of blood was wafting through the breeze of the open window, a cold, chilling breeze...

"Are you enjoying yourself?" The raspy voice entered her ears akin to a haunting requiem, coursing her to turn and face the ever intimidating masked man with hair white as a ghost, wearing his all black suit with a red tie, along with the regal pendant emblazoned on his sleeve, that of a black shield with a red Templar cross adorning it. "It's good that you are assimilating well, Kurohime, but don't get too comfortable."

"Master...?" Kurohime breathed, her voice monotone, yet with an inflection of concern upon the tip of her tongue. "How did you get here?"

"I have my ways." Master resumed leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, his constant scrutinizing gaze of eyes like black pearls towards Kurohime. Don't forget the reason you are here, my dark angel. What reason is that?" His eyebrow rose slightly.

"To...to train..." Kurohime answered after a hesitant nod.

"And?" Master added, his dark eyes narrowing into sharp slits.

Kurohime gulped, a sharp tinge to her throat as if it were swelling shut, "The...target..."

"Good." Nodded Master in return, a subtle movement under his mask indicating a wry smirk. "Remember Kurohime, these people mean nothing to you. Your only loyalty is to our cause. It took alot of work to acquire that letter for you. Do not disappoint us." And with that, he shoved himself away from the wall, tarrying across the room to the open window. He stood there for a moment, gazing out unto the sprawling green grasses of the campus, his eyes dimming over as he sighed. "This world has brought you and I so much pain. Why let it continue its meaningless existence? I will be contacting you again, momentarily monitoring your progress. Farewell, Dark Princess."

In a sudden flash his suit, black as midnight, became a plumage of shimmering black feathers fluttering in the wind, the lonely caw of a crow heard in the distance. It was the fashion in which he always left.

Dark Princess....that is what her name meant, who she was....and yet....who she wasn't.

Alone, Kurohime watched as the black bird soared away, fading into the horizon...into nothing.
