Current But yeah, the long shorty of nation-RPs is they require the existance of other nations and as a consequence, other concurrent nation-RPs... which usually means entire dedicated forums.

BTW, I've been off/on a persistent nation-RP since '05. If I ported it over to here... there's going to be a LOT of noodle-incidents. youtube.com/watch?v=yNbJb1N…

From there, you create a pool of characters hailing from "your nation". And they interact with characters from "other nations" to incite incidents internationally.

Nation RPing is basically open-persistent world-craft roleplay. If "your nation" isn't consistantly persistent between a multitude of roleplays, it's a LOT of dead-end work.

Owning a pet and being the brave one in the room to keep them calm worked well enough to keep yourself calm. As being happy and calm is almost as infectious as fear.

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Oddly enough, Sun Tzu and the Art of War.

Not so much because they read it, but more because of the fact that they're prominently displaying it as though actively brushing-up on it in order to impress me.

It won't.

Don't be mistaken, it's full of good advice. But it's vague and old, with just enough usefulness on its own to fake competency at something. It's pretty much a 1st edition self-help book plus the language-barrier of being just abstract enough to be misquoted harder than the King James Bible.

It being laid on the table can mean one of three things:

1. They haven't actually read it yet. Yet I should be impressed they managed to get ahold of a mass-printed book.
2. They're brushing up on it because they're going through a rough-patch.
3. They've read it, and want to feel superior by letting everyone know it.

1 and 3 are obvious why I probably want out. 2 isn't. Trying to dig your way out of a specific problem, likely a highly modern and technical issue involving finances and modern legal constructs... and the book they reached for to solve it was Sun Tzu.

>They don't need Sun Tzu, they need a lawyer.
And if they're trying to outmanuver and manipulate my emotions based only off of Sun Tzu, they've came rather unarmed.
So I wasn't sure what to title this as but I figured what I put just gets to the point. I love (not in a weird or sexual way) gay or boy x boy roleplay or stories. I find it cute and fun and I get a lot of ideas. The problem is, is that I'm a girl and it's likely no one wants to do roleplay with someone basically pretending to be a guy. This website and forum and all seems pretty professional from what I've seen, meaning if I did get a chance I'd have to be extremely accurate as to how a male would act and things like that. Anyways, what I'm just trying to really say and figure out, is that if this is ok to do. Most people (on other places) usually reject this idea, though I'm no way trying to scam or say I'm a guy because I'm not! I just want to do roleplay like this.

Generally, all the internal thought-processes can remain same or similar, maybe a bit more openly competitive but sometimes on a completely different set of priorities. A dude still has fears and insecurities in a relationship and the only differences being cultural norms in when and how they permit themselves to express them.

Usually dudes wanna be problem solvers, even if that means ignoring their emotions best they can and grinding through and then deal with the emotional flak afterwards (assuming their plan to fix things even worked... sometimes they do a big-dumb and make the situation worse before it gets better). And even then if they're an emotional wreck they don't want to let out too many outward signs of weakness, at least not in public, so they put on a brave face and keep calm and carry on, usually telling crude jokes or using morbid humor as a means to cope rather than plastering on a smile and ignoring it, they'd rather make fun of their own fear in order to laugh at it and smile instead. In short, they've mastered the art of griping.

Your mileage may vary. But that's generally my view of how my co-workers behave in a factory-setting since my own behavior is probably not a good baseline.
What Yankee said, also go watch a TV show, movie, read a book, or just browse random art and music until you get an idea.
-Heck do something you'll enjoy and then write based on what you know.

Bounce said ideas off a friend until something just screams that it must be done.

I tend to take the demonic blender approach by combining multiple trope pairings into a single fluidly dynamic story with complicated motives and a broken moral compass in a world without any maps.... which actually sounds cooler than it should.

Banned for not enlightening Grozny Skurwielu about our lord and savior Clem.
Banned for feeling like causing unnecessary pain.

At least make it necessary by using it as a means of reinforcing a lesson to be taught.
Tripled-Banned for banning someone for double plus unbanning you.
As the status bar said, birds don't exist, birds can't hurt you.

Birbs, on the other hand do exist, and yes they can ban you.
Banned for assuming I need to go faster. I merely need patience.
Banned to the island-realm of misfit madness, you toy.
