Death is a natural end to things. Everything has an end and for some that's comforting. Maybe it doesn't make sense for you Lily, you technically can live forever if I understand correctly. But for mortals, we age, we slow down, we look at things and their meanings change or even degrade over time. We enjoy novelty. But if you've done literally everything in life more than a hundred times, could you honestly say that you could enjoy it? This also means knowing that everyone around you will eventually wither away too. It's a macabre way of looking at it, but death is a friend, it helps us respect the fragility of everything, and understand that every action has a consequence. Beings that live forever tend to forget that. Then again I'm a poetic romantic that sees beauty in even the most macabre things.

You're right, Lily doesn't have the same perspective. But I don't get it either—why is anyone drawn toward some final destruction? What's the difference between dying now and dying later if you want to die at all?

Living forever sounds like a nightmare. Never growing old and watching everyone around you die of old age... Making friends only to realize that they'll never stay... I mean, Noct knows it better than I do... He walks the divine realm and technically is already dead but also... Not really.
