Name: Michael Lau
Age: 20
Appearance: Calm as always, ain'tcha? He stands at about 5'10", which is a tad taller than you'd usually expect.
Personality: Michael is a generally laid-back person, at least in regards to people. He's a hard worker when it comes to getting the job done (regardless of what the 'job' is), though, and loves a good challenge when one rolls by. It's hard not to label him a bit of an ikemen, but it's not far from the truth; in general, he'll get along with (or try to get along with) people so long as they aren't complete jerks or on the opposite end of the moral spectrum. He knows, of course, that the world is a cutthroat place, but he'd rather not have to resort to killing if he can avoid it.
Beating sense into someone, though? That's a different story.
Abilities: Having studied mechanical engineering in college, Michael generally has an idea on how machines work and how everything kind of just... Works. Well, once he gets to examine it for a while, at least. He's creative enough to jerry-rig some devices (which isn;t that hard with the reliance on electricity these days), but he often makes note that messing with the wiring on stuff usually isn't the safest idea.
He also has some experience coding and messing around with electronics. Also cooking because college student with a kitchen plus hunger.
Native or Newcomer?: Newcomer
Cheat: A mana-powered tablet that lets Michael do three things:
  • Store materials (inanimate) in a pocket dimension. This does have a capacity, but will grow larger as the group progresses.
  • Consume materials to create items to use. Of course, the prerequisites to create any such item must be available to him to do this sort of thing in the first place. So no, he can't conjure up an AK and a bunch of ammo right off the start. Or even anything close to a gun, for that matter.
  • Access the internet. He can't communicate with any parties on the other side outside of downloading things onto the tablet, but he can do things like using Google to search for answers to questions.
It may gain more capabilities in the future, but that seems fairly unlikely.
History: Michael's life was... Fairly mundane, in all honesty. He got good grades, played video games with friends, and hung out around school after classes to chat with people. Of course, having walked along the path that his parents drew for him, college was a breath of fresh air. He generally stuck to the lifestyle he had before, but with more freedom (and money in his pockets), he could mess around more with machines. That, coupled with the resources at the university he went to, meant that Michael had the chance to try and make a bit of a name for himself. The night he rode the train was the night after a conference for other inventors. After all, the best way to get inspiration was to learn from others... Right?
Other: Has a pet parrot at home (like in the picture :D). Also has a friend who talks about this kind of stuff all the time, but it usually goes in one ear and out the other. He still remembers bits and pieces of it here and there, though.

"This is a train bound for -----. The next stop is--"

A late-night train ride is anything but glamorous, but at least this one seems to be fairly calm (even with the announcer being unintelligible as he was). There seem to be a few others riding in the same car as you, each probably with their own things to handle and own worries. Well, there's only one for you right now: get back home. Or, well, back to a hotel if you're visiting this place for the moment, but regardless. After all, it's well past midnight, and crime never sleeps.

Of course, the day was tiring, and so as you sit idly by, the LED display overhead begins to flash, a wave of drowsiness comes over you. Grasping tightly onto whatever belongings that you have, the screen above shows something that seems... Seriously out of place.

Next Stop: Relfan Town, Empire of Tewan

Before any thoughts of panic or confusion can kick in, though, you pass out.

However much longer later, you wake up. It's groggy at first, but the light streaming into the car through the windows shows that it's daytime. Given how it was nighttime when you dozed off... Was it possible that you were at the train yard now?

A quick glance around shows that those people with you also seem to be in a similar predicament, but before anything else, a chorus of cellphone text chimes goes off. Everyone seems to grasp instinctively at their phones, and each text reads something like this:

"Sorry~! I'm kiiiinda in need of some help here, so I dragged you and everyone else here to this world. Don't worry, I've handled all that messy stuff about possibly being missing, so could you please help me with some stuff? I know you're, like, not all strong or anything, but I've given everyone here a special ability~! The details are in the next message you'll get.
After you guys get your bearings straight, pop out of the train car and follow the road to get to the nearest town. You'll learn more there. Have a great adventure~!"

...
What?

A second message pops up, just as promised, but before anyone can take a look at that, the doors to the train car open.
And so it begins.

So yeah! A classic isekai RP. I've tried variants that were more 'out there' in the past, but this is the stuff boiled down to the basics. Complete with cheats for the characters dragged in! Granted, these cheats will be nowhere near as broken as they usually are in such light novels, but hey! Cheats!

Of course, prospective RPers also have the ability to play characters from the world itself, so you're not locked into playing what I like to call 'imports'.

So, without further ado, a form!

So yeah. Questions? Concerns? I'm all ears.
@Aix: I'll be generous for the most part for natives; so long as they are reasonable within a Western fantasy setting (and by reasonable I mean reasonable for a member of the main party).

As for power level... Obviously it'll scale over time, but it'll start fairly mundane and weak. Of course, magic exists and magic tools exist and abilities exist, so it won't stay like that forever.
@Daft Monarch: Yes, Earth. U.S.

Edit: For diversity reasons, I'm not saying state or city. Varied backgrounds go!
@SilverDawn: Problem. Multiple, actually.

1. Setup here is awkward. It's past midnight, and the character is a 16-year-old girl riding on a train. I'm going to emphasize the 'past midnight' part here. Would just like to note that.

2. We kiiiinda have a chuuni on hand already. Like, I'm not saying that doubling up on personality niches is a bad thing, but it's just something to note. I understand that changing the concept of the character basically invalidates it (what's a chuuni without chuuni stuff, amirite?), but I'm just going to put the option to change character archetype out there. Highly suggested, actually. Hiiiiiiiiiiighly recommended. Mainly because a few people have just brought concerns to hand.

3. Once again, because this is still REALLY important: 16-year-old girl. After midnight. Train ride. I don't know about you, but those three terms together just screams 'bad times incoming' here. That, I certainly want changed.
@Rin: Well, I was a bit wary at first when I saw the names match up, but I've had people vouch for you so I'll accept it. Just... Be careful and make sure the difference between yourself and the character remains defined and clear.

@VitaVitaAR: Accepted.

Speaking of forms...

I'll get an OoC live within the next 48 hours, I think. The RP will begin once enough forms have been submitted. But for now, we wait.
@Daft Monarch: Either or works just as well. Let's just keep it PG-13 for the sake of things, though.

Edit: Or at the very least not anywhere near NSFW. I don't think I even need to say this, though. =3=;;
@Daft Monarch: Yes, assume they come from this era. So, y'know, smartphones, hi-spec PCs, all the other technological nuances that come with that implication, etc;.
