"That's Lon Lon Milk for you." Linkle said with cool satisfaction as she watched the boys wounds mend before their eyes. "It's world famous for a reason. Good for the bones, good for the everything." She accepted the now empty bottle back from the boy, resisting the urge for a moment to celebrate the acquisition of a second empty bottle. "Delicious too. The best milk in the wor-"

Linkle looked down at the empty bottle in her hand, the only remnants of said famous milk being the lable printed on the side of the bottle and the thin sheen of liquid you get on the inside of anything you drink out of sliding down the sides and coalescing into a few pathetic drops in the bottom.

Sometimes the path of the hero was so hard.

In lighter news, though, Linkle's other gift seemed to have taken effect with no major drawbacks. The red had cleared from Guild boys eyes, and he didn't seem to be otherwise confused or disoriented from being freed from Galeem's vile control. At least, that what she assumed his lack of outward reaction meant. He wasn't nearly as talkative as his friend, who also thankfully hadn't been somehow offended by the friend heart. That was better news than anything, she had been half-expecting the dragon boy to suddenly get Galeemed out, whip out his sword, and try to take her head off for what she'd done. He even wanted to shake her hand, which she gladly accepted. "I'm just glad we stumbled in here when we did. Someone in your group must be really lucky."

"...Wait. Has anyone, uhh, seen my shoe?"

Linkle looked over to where Mr. Spikey Head now rested on his knees amid the rapidly disintegrating remains of the fish men's boss. Maybe he was the lucky charm? Like Din Linkle began searching for the mans missing shoe, but the sports floating around kept distracting her. She couldn't see much use for fishy spirits right at the moment. Maybe she could use one if she were feeling like going for a swim, but getting gills or scaly skin right after they just got done killing a bunch of fish men would be kind of awkward to explains to people that didn't seem to know anything about spirits judging from the way they weren't trying to get the little motes. If only she had some way to store them for a later time.

Wait! Linkle looked back at the empty bottle in her hand. Bottles could store anything! Linkle quickly made her way around the bridge, quickly bottling up the fish spirits before they could up and vanish on her just like they were fairies. She grinned proudly as the bottle glew with a sof rainbow light as she observed the spirits flitting around inside. It was pretty, even if she could occasionally still catch a glimps of their awful bulgy eyed mugs.

While she was admiring the shine her eyes were drawn to something brown floating in the water just off the bridge. "Hey!" She called to the Spikey man, pointing it out. "Is that it?"

Linkle found her Chochobo as they were mounting up to leave. The poor thing was still to skittish from the sight of the fish monsters to even think of stepping close to the shoreline let alone chancing the bridge, but it had remains kweeing and warking on the edges of the battlefield where Din's goat had been tearing it up. As she stepped away from the shoreline and only the grass proper it came running up, lowing it's head to about her level.

Linkle instandly keyed on to what it wanted and reached out yo give in a good scratch along the neck. 'Cuu cuu cuu." She said, and it shookand kweed in return. She was honestly shocked the creature had hung around at all, but then again maybe it just knew a bird lover when it found one. Maybe the gunslinger might have been able to get it to fight, like Din had gotten her pokemon to. She cocked her head at the big yellow bird at the thought. 'Hey, you're not a...?" She started, pulling out one of her pokeballs and pressing it against the creatures neck. Nothing happened. Links wasn't really sure what was supposed to happen, but nothing was still disappointing. "I guess not." She said, shaking her head. This head shake turned into a casual look around. Hadn't they come here on two Chochobos? She wondered if Geralt's was still around here somewhere, hiding in the trees?

Speaking of Geralt Linkle took another look at him as they got ready to leave. She wasn't really sure how injured he was. Certainly not as much as Guild Boy, thay was for sure, but he did have that noticeable cut over his eyes that was even now healing up. It didn't look like much, but then again it didn't seem like it took much to make you susceptible to the good old friend heart. Junpei had had a self healing power like Geralt dis, and by the end it seemed like her and Minako had mostly been able to free him due to the exhaustion of the laps they'd forced him to swim.

It wouldn't hurt to try, right? It might even give her some insight on where the cut off line for this sort of thing was. Emoboldned by the success with Gran earlier Linkle raised her arms above her head with another friend heart in hand. Even if it did bounce off it wasn't like she was going to get attacked or anything. "Hey Geralt, let me help with that." She said, then tossed the heart to him.

They didn't take up the clown faced men's offer of transportation, but that was mostly because Linkle felt like so long as they were going back anyway they may as well gather some ingredients as they went.she explained this as she walked along beside her Chochobo, having given it up for anyone more needful of the large animals strong legs and cushy seat, and included an open invitation to dinner to the trio they had met at the lake. She introduced herself and Din and told them a little about their group, how they were new in town, and how they'd split up to cover a lot of quests at once to make a good impression.

They stopped fairly often along the rout, most often because Din found that they were going in the wrong direction for some reason. While she reoriented them to the correct way across the plains Linkle took the opportunity to take a look around for any of the herbs and spices they'd been asked for. In all honesty she probably got more than she needed. Wheat was easy to spot, turnips were easy to get with a little digging, and along with that she picked up basically any plant that she'd remebered seeing on her grandmothers spice rack. She started with it in her arms, but when that became to much she'd taken off the spider shield, placed it upside down in the arms of the chochobo rider, and dumped whatever she got in there like it was an bowl for offerings.

It was after their latest stop that Euden walked up beside her and hesitantly began speaking, saying he had been looking for people from his world for some time asking whether she was something called a Syvaln. Linkle shook her head regretfully. 'Sorry, I've never heard of a place called Alberia. I'm a Hylian, like those clown guys or...have you met the kid in green guarding the front gate? I'm especially like him." She'd noticed that he glanced at the top of her head and there was only one thing she could think of that he could be looking at up there. She reached up and pulled one of the floppy things down. "Do Slyvan's have ears like this too? These aren't something I have naturally. They're more...uh..."

Linkle felt the weight if the orange swords on her back and grimaced as she'd remembered the truck driving sorsorer and the massive amount of spirits that had exploded out of him when he'd met his end. A guy like that had killed a ton of people and had gathered up their spirits. No, that wasn't right. A guy like that had killed a ton of people too gather up their spirits. Spirits were valuable, that's why she'd taken the time to gather up the ones at the lake, but this was the first time she'd considered that they were valuable enough to kill for.

These guys hadn't reacted to the spirits at the lake, which means they didn't know. Which might be for the better, now that she thought about it. At the same time, though, all three of them had nearly died out there today. Phoenix from where he'd run, Gran from being surrounded, and Euden from using up his power and nearly falling in the water. Spirits in a very real way had saved his life. She didn't distrust any of them, maybe they could use the extra help when it counted.

"It's kind of a long explanation." She said, trying to play it off despite the serious look she'd been wearing before. "I can tell you after dinner, if you want to hear it. It actually might just help you find the people you're looking for."

She looked wistfully back at Din, and smiled. "I was lucky. Din was right there when I first woke up. I didn't know her. We didn't come from the same place. I don't think we even come from the same time. But it was such a relief seeing that my world wasn't gone, just mixed up into this. So, I get it."

"Are you looking for anybody in particular?" She suddenly asked. "I'm already on the look out for this group of animal mask kids and a guys eye, I could look for your friends while I'm at it. It wouldn't be so much trouble to sent them your way if I run into them."

Nothing but our part of the shopping list: Wild Wheat, Basil, bay leaves, turnips, Chochobo Meat, and we need to either catch or kill a Tropius for its sweet sweet bananas. I figure we can write in stopping a few time on the way back through the plains to gather stuff.

Quick question for you guys. Does someone else want to lead the party so we end up back at Lumbridge or do you want Linkle to lead so we end up going the complete wrong direction and join up with Bowser's group?
Dan turned up as Stefan impressed upon him the true grandeur of his invitation to this war council. The look that briefly flashed over his face could best be described as "senpai has noticed me," wide eyed and overawed, but he quickly composed himself. "Y-y-yes, of course. My, but I hadn't even considered..."

It was a good thing normal etiquette was being suspended. It seemed as though the only real rule her was to be polite. Dan could handle that. He had extensive practice with being polite, but as the group were about to start moving suddenly someone shouted the name of one of their guides.

Dan turned and looked to see a newcomer rapidly approaching, dressed like Sir Shizuo. A samurai. Dan thought back to his mental map of the world as he new it, and how far Istanbul was from Japan. He presumed that they could have samurai in Constantinople in this world through some strange fluke of history, but considering they had a moogle riding along atop their hat the chances were better that they were from another world like he was. The moogle had been the one that had shouted for the Sargent of the Imperial Guard, and the distress in it's voice was obvious.

The Sargent, though this addition was unexpected from the way he spoke of them, was...unmoved. It wasn't stoicism, at least not in a way Dan had ever seen it. He just kind of brushed them aside in his mind and started talking about the heartless. Like their clear urgency was unimportant.

Dan turned away from the guide and shouted back as the two approved. "What's the matter? Is someone hurt?"

"Yeah! How did you like that you whoersons!" Linkle shouted happily as the last of the fish men fell dead off Geralt's blade. "Hehehe, that's a fun word to say." Around them the bodies that were left on the bridge from her bullrush crumbled into black dust, releasing their small spirits into the air. She took a moment to catch her breath and give her crossbows a quick twirl before slotting them back into her boots, calming down significantly and starting to notice the ache in her shoulder. She looked and grimaced as she saw the blood staining into the green of her cloak. She hoped Lumbridge had someone who was as good with a needle and thread as that sweet old toad lady back at Peach's castle.

Other than that that vast majority of them were all right. Even Mr. Spikey Head, who was still hanging off the rope where that boat had been, seemed to be fine even though his predicament had been dire. "Nice job buddy! You can come down now." She called out to him, but for a moment it looked like she'd spoken too soon. The door to the house burst open and linkle almost drew on the pair that ran out, getting horrible flashbacks to that giant fiery screaming face that had tried to eat her and Bowser, but it turned out the two men were not only friendly, Linkle would bet her life they were fellow Hylians.

Linkle took a look around the lake again. If that was those guys shop, then did that mean they were standing on a piece of Hyrule? "Ha!" she said, puffing out her chest in pride. "We saved Hyrule from the fish monsters!"

She turned her attention to the most injured of all of them. Guild boy had done his best to hold of those monsters, but from the way he fought it was obvious he had been expecting someone to be there to watch his back and had paid for it pretty severely. Dragon boy had already helped him up and was busy tending to his injuries with cloth. "Hey, I think I can help with those injuries. You guys rode out to save a tiny little slice of my world, it's the least I can do. Besides, there are weird giant monkeys around out there. Can't let those catch you all banged up like this." She reached into her belt and pulled out the half-full glass bottle of Lon-Lon Milk, but then as she looked at the injured boy a thought crept into her head. No, she could do more than just mend his wounds. She quickly looked up, scanning the sky for any low flying centurions, then nodded and tapped herself in the chest with both hands

Pulling them away and raising her arms up over her head, a bright pink heart flashed into existence in her open palm. "Here you go. This is going to feel a little weird, but trust me." she said, flicking her wrists and letting the thing float slowly down into Gran like a balloon on the gentle wind.

If the heart freed him from Galeem's control and he didn't seem like he was freaking out too badly about that she'd reach over and steady him with a hand on his shoulder while handing him the Milk with the other. "I know this must feel strange, but drink this milk and it'll help close up those wounds of yours."

"This is fine." Bak said as the snake made its little makeshift privacy screen, even as her face conveyed the idea that this wasn't ideal. She wasn't comfortable with people watcher her maintenance, seeing into the nasty inner workings of her metallic bits. If anyone else in the room but this intruder prospective member in good standing with the council's trusted advisor had offered something like this she would have accepted it out of hand, but when an outsider new recruit allegedly hand picked by Clara herself did it it was almost like she was hiding Bak away. That thought turned over in her mind, stirring up the embers of an old resentment she tried her hardest to pretend didn't exist. Memories of a hastily constructed little room with a dirt floor, connected to her home yet separate from her home.

This was stupid. She was stupid. Celestine trusted this girl, Luigi didn't seem at all surprised to see her there. That should be enough, right? Right?? But at the same time, be wary. Bak trust in Celestine crashed up against the walls of her suspicions and even if she could feel her muscles tense up every time this supposed witch used words like "Us" and "We" like a cliff being assaulted by the sea some erosion had already been produced.

"Meeting has not begun yet, though." she said as she turned to walk toward the veil. "Give a few minutes for others to arrive." Luigi was good at his job, so maybe he could get this done before the last of the members she expected to trickle in. Though, looking at the room, she couldn't help be feel like this was about the best she could do. It would still give her a chance to ask Luigi about this Diana girl in semi-privacy, just to assuage her own fears you understand, if they waited a few minutes for new faces to show up.

As if on cue a new face decided to show itself right then. Another face that Bak didn't recognize, but Diana did. She'd introduced this boy before just seconds before, and it was only what she'd said before that stopped Bak from tossing him out right away. "You are student here?" she asked politely even as her eyes seemed to paint crosshairs on his forehead. "You must be recent transfer, because if you were not you would know any member of council is approachable at any time if you have concern or problem." This was true on paper, but in practice the only member of the council likely to be approached was Luigi. Bak had tried to remedy this with a suggestion box on the council room door, but had taken it down and burned it after a week when the only things that were dropped in there were joke suggestions, insults, and obscene drawings of council members.

"I can only think that you are here, and not in class, in order to return phone that you picked up?" Even though there was a question mark at the end of that sentence it was clearly not a question. She held out her open hand to him. "But I would very much like to speak with you as well. After school maybe? I am always around." This boy had supposedly trying to poach someone from Clara? That piqued Bak's suspicions. Finding who was trying to "take charge" in Clara's absence was very much on the agenda today, but considering what had happened she didn't want to force the issue and risk starting a fight when the regular students were trying to attend class.

Diana had found that agenda, among the papers she'd been looking over. It stood out because it was a plane white sheet with a list of the most meticulously scrawled chicken scratch you were ever likely to see.

Bak looked down at the shuffle of papers that had been lined up on the desk when she'd come in. Technically everything went through the student council here. Even the principal needed their rubber stamp to do anything. She'd spent the time they had before they'd arrived trying to sort through the requests that had been piling up while the president was away, but so far she hadn't been able to make head or tails of it with her C- GPA. It was the least important thing on the vague agenda Bak had in mind for this meeting, but even still it felt like it should be taken care of at some point.

Her attention was ripped away suddenly, and she was happily shocked to see Celestine in the room. Bak hadn't even called her, seeing as she was more Clara's employee like Gilliam rather than a member of the council. A visible wave of guilt flashed across Bak's face as she talked about almost dying, but as she went on Bak's expression changed. Her eyes began narrowing as she looked over to the girl Celestine was presenting. Short, platinum haired, dressed all nice and for some reason familier. As the girl introduced herself she seemed polite enough and if Celestine was vouching for her that certainly meant something, but Bak couldn't shake the little feeling squirming in the back of her mind that they'd mer befo-

Bak quickly reached out and pulled Celestine closer, urgently whispering. "Celestine, you have been bamboozled. This is St. Laural's girl, from tournament." Bak did a double take to make sure, but she was positive. She remembered because she'd actually been rooting for her team, seeing as they were going against Vigilante's that had made a fool of her at the apartment building. Not to mention she'd gotten it out a student that a white haired girl had been asking after Clara before that explosion she'd had to investigate a few days ago. "Besides, if she is witch where are her iron teeth? Where is crooked bird nose?" She took another look. "I would bet she does not even have thirteen toes."

This conversation was interrupted as another unexpected face burst into the room. She hadn't expected any of the absentee members to make an appearance today. To be honest, she'd hardly expected anyone and this came make demands. She was about to answer in in when Rurik piped up from his end of the table to answer for her. This apparently didn't satisfy him, and he turned expectantly back to her. "This is partly what meeting today is about." she started, before the heavy footfalls down the corridor bagan.

Bak knew that sound. There was only one person she'd even met whose footsteps sounded anything like hers. She visibly tensed up as Luigi Vile stepped into the room, making it clear he wouldn't be taking any of that sort of nonsense sitting down.

Bak had an...interesting relationship to this boy. When they had first met Bak had been ecstatic. Someone else like her! Someone else that had been living like this, longer than she had probably. Maybe someone that could give her a why, or a how. Then they'd talked and Bak learned very quickly that the Why was tragic and the How was that he'd done it to himself. Since then Luigi had made Bak uncomfortable in a way nothing else had. The mindset it took to have a body that was perfectly healthy and then chop it away piece by piece to infest yourself with cold machinery was so foreign to her as to be totally alien. She didn't dislike the boy, it was hard for Bak to really dislike anyone that showed her real kindness the way he did, and the way he maintained her mechanical parts was a godsend to someone that had to painfully regrow whatever she broke, but of the people she thought of as her friends Bak prefered to think about Luigi the least.

Bak didn't have the self-reflection required to see the irony in that.

"Da, please no fighting in war room like Luigi says." she said, turning to...Vernon?...and pulling out one of the closer seats. It was her turn to look at him expectantly. "If you are wanting to be finding solution with us, please take your seat." Her eyes flashed up quickly at Rurik, then down slightly to here he'd decided to put his shoes. She sighed, but then instead of shooting anything at him she just pulled out what was technically her char and with a motion of the arm sent it sliding down along the side of the table to come to a rest near him. "Please no putting feet on table, also."

While she was doing this Luigi had gotten up and started toward her, brandishing a tool pointing out the embarrassing little leak she still had going from the tournament. When she pulled off the shirt she'd worn at the tournament, the one that had gotten deluged with the gunk, that it was ruinous. The stuff had started coagulating, forming into a sticky shell, and had started to stink like rotting meat soaked in motor oil. She'd burned that uniform, and it was clear from the unusual stitching around the shoulder of this one that she had replaced that part multiple times as the trickle had soaked into it. She even had a tiny green pine tree air freshener hanging from the underside of the launcher. It was an annoyance she had been hoping to get looked at.

She hadn't expected it this soon though. She hugged herself. "You mean open me up right here? In front of everyone?" She said, er voice cracking just a bit from embarrassment. Still, this was a time of emergency. There was no telling when some attack might come again, especially with a St. Laural's here in the room, and if she was being honest it was a lot worse than an annoyance. Her launcher was acting iffy. Whether it was in there was delaying missile regeneration. She forced herself to relax, lowering her arms and letting him approach. "Ummmm, da, this is fine. If better to get it done when we can."

As he got closer Bak could see that the machine boy wasn't doing so hot himself. She was familiar with the look of someone that hadn't been getting enough rest. She had a mirror, after all. "Are you well?" she asked, concerned. "If it is something wrong I can add it to agenda today."

@Hammerman

Katherine reached over and gave Christine a brief, one arm over the shoulder hug. "My own guardian snow angel." she said happily. Just saying all that had seemed to lift the weight of the world off her chest. "C'mon, it shouldn't be too far now."

It wasn't that far back to their home, but when they finally arrived Katherine was strangely winded. it was weird, a walk like that really shouldn't have taken so much out of her. She'd downed that rest of that tea on the journey over here, but she already felt like she needed something to drink. Definitely something cold.

She reached into her pocket and pulled out the key, happy as a clam that the makeshift surgeons Thobias had brought up hadn't had to hack off her pants the way they'd ruined her shirt. She unlocked the door, stepped into the threshold, and took a moment to inhale the nostalgic smells of home. The house was dark, the only light in the hallway being the blinking red light on the phone indicating that they had messages.

Gods Damn she bet they had messages. Kath didn't want to try and think about how many people had called between when she'd flown out of the arena and now. She'd hoped mom and dad would have been home to take those but surprise surprise, they weren't. She walked in, starting to make her way to her bedroom to get a proper change into one of her own outfits. Or maybe her uniform.

She stopped and looked back down the hallway. "You think we should head to school today, or screw it? It's gotta be already half-over, at least. Honestly," she said, scratching the back of her head awkwardly. "I kind of want to head to the gym more, see if I've still got it before I went back to Battle School. I was thinking, you know, we never got to throw down in that last tournament. if you want we can head down there and go a few rounds, just like old times." Her eyes drifted over to the blinking light on the phone. she casually pointed to it. "Or we could see if we got any dates on there."

Linkle had only had her breathing room for a moment before the ranks of the fish monsters surged forward and enveloped her in battle, eager to avenge the numerous arrows now sticking up from their scaly hides. One of them came at her, it's cutlass flashing across the distance between them even as she ducked. She rammed her bow up against his stomach, rewarding his bravery with a with bolts that went so deep you could hardly see them. One of his compatriots brought his own cutlas down but she rolled backward as the weapon dug into the wood of the bridge.

Then, from over the shoulder of the one that pushed her back, came a wickedly barbed spear. She hadn't seen it coming as it bit into her shoulder, but instead of pushing the fish man yanked his catch forward. The two fish men in the front, one now wobbling with its hand on its stomach, made way as Linkle was pulled into the middle of the group. The head of the spear ripped wetly from her flesh, sending her stumbling forward into range of another fishman man, waiting to impale her on the tip of it own spear.

What were these guys doing, taking turns?

Linle raised up her bows to make him pay for it but luckily for her the dragon boy from earlier came to her rescue from out of nowhere, his sword sinking deep into the side of the fish man that had been waiting for her. Linkle spun on her heel, slamming the fish man's other side with the back of her boot and driving him further onto the dragon boys sword. That was the que for the swordfish behind her to attack, bringing his cutlass across in a way that she was barely able to duck.

This was it. This was her type of fight. The type of fight where you needed eyes in the back of your head because you never knew which direction you were about to be attacked from. Where throwing attacks all over the place was a necessity, just to buy yourself some breathing room from the enemies all around you. So battle began in earnest, fish men attacking, Linkle countering, not unlike a dance except in this one the only reward you got in the end was the faCt that you were still standing. There were less of these guys than she was used too, but were stronger, they clung stubbornly to life, and had unfair tricks they liked to use. She noticed that whenever one of the swordfish in front attacked that spear from the back wasn't far behind, waiting to pull you in to get mauled by its fellows. It was a simple tactic, but a smarter one than she had ever encountered from her enemies, and the unsettling anticipation of the spear awarded the swordfish a few light cuts in her side and across her arms that she she normally never would have given up to foes like this. it could have been far worse if she hadn't seen that botched attempt from earlier. Still, through it all, Linkle was smiling. There was nothing that could sour her mood in this type of fight.

At least not until she heard a gasp of pain over the din of battle, and remembered the other thing about fights like this; if you're not around to protect your allies they're going to die. She dodged to the side as the spear came again, getting a look over the fish man's shoulder to where it had come from.

The other boy, guild boy, was definitely not a dragon. If he were she felt like he definitely would have dragoned out by now, considering his situation. He wasn't used to this type of fight, that much was obvious from the state of him. Linkle hardened her face and, as a fish man's cutlass sought her again, dodged over the side of the bridge onto the ice that the dragon boy had so kindly showed her. She slipped slightly, skidding a little to far before regaining her balance. The ice bobbed as she ran across it, using it to bypass the fish men she'd been fighting, bounding across the ice sheet toward the house sitting on the lake before jumping back onto the bridge behind the battle. So that the group of them that had been fighting her and Gran were all in front of her.

Then she charged, and as she charged she held up her bows and waved them back and forth, spraying bolts at every monster of the bridge. Gran and Euden could feel the air from the bolts as they flew past, but miraculously not a one of those arrows ever plunged into them. With every bolt that found its place in the scaly hide of a hideous fish monster Linkle could feel momentum building, the energy of the fight flowing into her. Building, building, waiting to explode.

Lickle slid between the legs of one of the monsters fighting Gran, stood up next to the boy, and went off like a bomb. She fired forward and backwards, then to both side, then spun in a circle shooting at everything around her. Then came the fire, and the power, flowing out a Linkle in a burst that seemed to pass over the boys even as it slammed into the fish men.

Christine's doubts were evident in her answer, but nevertheless she let out a sigh of relief. She'd had the barest notion of an idea brewing in her head, her sister standing in a circle, chanting with daggers and candles and whatever else you did when you were trying to summon up a demon. It was a stupid idea. For one thing you would never be able to get Christine to wear a robe. Maybe a micro-kimono, at best.

The thought actually made her laugh, drawing some odd looks from the people waiting at the bus stop. She stepped back, away from the posters so it didn't look quite as weird. "Sorry." She said to Christine. "Intrusive thought." She took a bit to compose herself, get her serious face back on.

"Honestly, I wish you'd told me something like 'oh yeah, she totally did it I saw her carving runes.'" Katherine said as the pair continued to walk, past fancy high class stores and offices on their way across town. "It would make things a whole lot simpler."

If she was responsible for all this it would be a cause that was morally righteous. It would be her duty as a Rhean to beat Clara's ass so badly it came out looking like spoiled hamburger. It wouldn't be a personal issue, which is what had really gotten her in trouble in the first place.

"Look, you know I have a hard time letting things go. I'm pig headed." She said, shaking her head. "I just never saw how pig headed until I kept up with all that stupid crap with your boyfriend even when I was...well...dying. And I didn't even think about how much it was hurting you. Like," Katherine looked around to make sure nobody was listening, then continued shamefully. "The demon was trying to talk me down. The fucking demon. That's how insane I was."

"I guess what I'm trying to say here is," she continued, holding up her hands like she was begging for strength. "That if I see that Clara girl again I'm going to beat her to within an inch of her life. And I know that's stupid. And I know it's gonna be another trip to a hospital bed at best. But it's what's gonna happen. But this time, I swear, if you tell me to hold back or wait...I'll try. The last thing I want to do is put you through something like that again."

@Hammerman
Dan hopped out of the Gummi ship with a cheerful "alley oop", suitcase in one hand and box balanced neatly on the other one, leaving behind a very weary looking moogle. It should have been impossible for a creature whose eyes were very nearly nonexistent to developed pronounced bags under them, and yet he had somehow managed it. A few of his kind fluttered up to him, actually worried, but all he said was, "He wanted to know about my whole life, Kupo. He doesn't sleep, Kupo. He doesn't sleep," before passing out at the controls. Concerned, the others pried him gently away from the wheel and carried him off to bed.

Dan, for him part, sucked in a big breath of fresh air and sighed contentedly. Whoever their host was had really rolled out the red carpet for them. A large palace, a personal aircraft for each of them, and all these nice men that had come out to make them feel welcome. He listened intently to the Sergeant of the Guard and the Wizard, and his eyes shot wide when they were informed that they were bound to meet an Emperor.

It only made sense when he thought back to the sheer size of this Palace. You didn't put anyone short of a king in something this magnificent. Dan had never met royalty before, and as he looked at the gift in his hand he felt for the first time that it might be woefully inadequate.

Still, maybe the other delegates to this war council had the more pedestrian tastes necessary to appreciate it. Most of them were adults, of course. He was used to that. One of them he could even swear was a fellow Paladin, except no Paladin Dan had ever known wore cool NASA future armor like...Stefan, that's who he must be....did. He was actually most surprised to see someone else his age in the group. The wizard had named this one Auxentia while taking the liberty of introducing the three of them. They hadn't introduced the last two, only that they were embroiled in some kind of conflict, but he could always get their names later. Right now wasn't the time for introductions or the exchange of gifts, you weren't supposed to keep royalty waiting.

He bowed his head to the two of them. "It's my honor to be chosen from among all the warriors of my world." he said.
