Three checks each. So, Brutrumukk will need to make 3 and Jub will need to make 3. Both will need to pass 2 of said checks at the very least.

Jub and Brutrumukk easily notice that the suits of armor seem to be still The macaw answers them, "We can't disable them now, but there is a way to avoid them now that you've gone through this entrance! See, this is one of the many puzzles Lord Ishaan put into his palace! Solve the puzzle, and you can get through here without them charging at you,"

The macaw flies down to land on Jub's shoulder and he comments, "You look like you're smart enough to handle this. I'll help ya out. They'll only move when you do now,"

When Brutrumukk and Jub do move, they find that the suits of armor move like they're the two adventurers' reflections from their various spots.

Skill Challenge!

Instead of giving an actual puzzle, we're going to do a skill challenge for ease of play. ^^"

Brutrumukk and Jub will need to make three checks of the following skills. Jub will have advantage on one of them thanks to the Macaw's action to Help. If Jub and Brutrumukk pass 2 out of 3 chosen skill checks, they will make it past the armors without going into an actual fight. Less than that, and a fight will break out.

Bavlorna's Cottage: Preservation Pool (B1)

As soon as Aurora picks up the hat, it noticeably moves and shifts in her hands, twitching even more. It unfurls itself from its pointed hat form into that of a black tentacled thing! It immediately lunges towards Aurora, and the next thing she sees is darkness! She can't breathe either! She can vaguely hear her friends call out her name in worry and concern!

Whatever this hat was, it's not letting her go! She needs to do something fast!

The hat is a monster! It attacks Aurora.
Thanks to Aurora's Natural 20 Investigation, it does not have surprise, so its attack is a straight roll.

However, its attack landed on Aurora with a 19. It deals 7 bludgeoning damage to her. Aurora is also now blinded and unable to breathe this way.

She can use an action to try and detach the monster off of her head, but she will need to make a Strength Check to do so.

Still tired, less busy, already overthought it all, and still not sure.

I think initially had it not been the day it has been, she would have been more cautious. With the fact of everything that has happened in the last 8ish hours that caution is not completely there. I will say yes the events of the day would likely lead one to be more cautious, Rory is also done with being in and around this hut.

The last one is bare except for an ugly, black pointed hat that is, in fact, slightly twitching to Aurora's keen eyes. Aurora would realize that that...thing is in fact alive.

I am also up for GMing for a solo player for a D&D 5e game, and vice versa. (Being a solo player in a D&D 5e game).

Stargaze was quiet as she heard one of the dragons answer Skobeloff and told him where Fellwing went. Apparently she went after Garrock. She tilts her head inquisitively as he went up to Fogdance and seemed to ask how she was doing. She hears her answer, but doesn't really know what to make of it. Before she could ask anything else or say anything, Skobeloff already headed out.

She winces and sighs as though she was thinking, "Here we go again," and she calls after Skobeloff again as she follows him, "Skobeloff, wait up!" As soon as she catches up to him, she asks as she keeps pace with him, "Is something wrong with Fogdance? I didn't notice anything different about her..."

Regardless, it is clear that they were going to go find Fellwing. Maybe they'll find Shieldwing too. Didn't Shieldwing go with Garrock to begin with?

Emily immediately noticed that the Crow didn't understand her answer from how he answered her. When he asked about why she was distressed, Emily bit her bottom lip as she thought carefully and started, "Hmmm...How do I put it...?" It would be clear to Crow that Emily is trying to figure out a way to answer his question without confusing him like she did before.

She then remembered that he stole the phone and wallet from the Agent earlier, and upon realizing that, she mutters, "Oh yeah!"

Plagiarism is theft after all!

She starts her answer with a question to the Crow, "You know how you took the phone and wallet from the agent back there?"

After giving him a moment to answer, she continues, "That sort of thing happened to me that day. Someone I trusted stole something important from me. Under normal circumstances, physical objects like the phone and wallet can be returned and the matter easily resolved. However, what was stolen from me wasn't a physical object, per se. It was something I took a lot of time on and worked hard to create. I was proud of that creation. That person didn't just steal it though. They claimed my creation as their own and made sure that people thought of me as the thief,"

Emily's voice cracked a bit as she said the word 'thief'. She fought hard to keep back her own tears and emotions as she explained the situation, hoping to help ensure that the Crow understood her conundrum. She was glad to say that the tears that pricked at her eyes didn't appear on her face.

I am interested to see where Guardian Angel Haruki took the bit of backstory I had written up for Aurora. It seems one of her sibling will appear in this, at least from the discussion that the party had with Sir Talavar.
