If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.
Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Quotes or Sayings: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.” – Winston Churchill paraphrasing George Santayana. “If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.” Theme Song: Warrior’s Call Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago. Anything Else:
Hey, you, how would you like a recon squad to be transferred to your platoon?
The role of Recon was originally conducted by infantry before some genius decided to dedicate soldiers to that purpose. In fact, in WWII, every squad had two soldiers who were dedicated as "Scouts". Their function in the squad was to provide early warning to the squad or platoon during movement.
Would you be interested in taking on one of the squads that are already listed? We can delete my NPCs and add yours. Then when the platoon is deployed, your squad gets all the action because the other three squads are NPC. Currently, the squad or "section" consists of six men lead by a sergeant (section leader) and Corporal (assistant section leader). The other four members are LMGunner, Grenadier and two riflemen.
<Snipped quote by Gunther about RPing the entire company>
Similarly, if everyone is committed to this, I'm gonna find a different character concept. ;)
Following the British model, historically used by Star Wars creators, which they sometimes follow and other times disregard, my company commander character would be a Major. In "The Siege of Jadotville", the Irish Company Commander wore the rank of a Major, but they called him Commandant.
You know @Sep, if everyone wants to be SAS/Green Beanie/KSK/RAPAS/Delta/LRRP Special Forces types, I could design and RP the entire Rifle Company of 100? Your call.

History: Mosh Karada was born in 39 BBY on Alderaan. When he reached the age of maturity, he joined the Alderaan Army serving as an infantryman. He learned about computers as a student in school and sought to increase his knowledge while serving in the military. He was assigned to the 42nd Mobile Infantry Regiment serving as a Light Repeating Blaster operator in a line platoon. His ten-man section led by Sergeant Kal Tyrion, gained a reputation as being highly disciplined. The section leader was a man Mosh respected immensely. He was distraught when Sergeant Tyrion was killed at Malastare only months after Mosh joined the unit.
Next, Trooper Karada would see action immediately following the Malastare affair at the Second Battle of Geonosis. The Alderaanian’s 42nd MIR supported the 41st Elite Corps during their assault on the droid factory. During the engagement, Mosh Karada killed fourteen of the enemy and received a commendation for actions resulting in the relief of a section of infantry that had been pinned down. Due to this action and commendation, Mosh Karada was promoted to Corporal in early 20 BBY.
During the Battle of Sullust, Corporal Karada’s unit was used in supporting roles, providing facility security and relegated to rear echelon activity. The unit was not heavily engaged in the fighting.
By 19BBY, Mosh Karada was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and given his own rifle section. He was quickly becoming the grizzled veteran at age 20, after two years of fighting the Separatist droid army. Also, that year, the 42nd Mobile Infantry were deployed, aboard a Venator Class Star Destroyer to Planet Anaxes where his unit supported the 501st Legion of the Clone Army. During this campaign, Sergeant Karada was credited with taking out no fewer than fifty-seven of the enemy. He and his squad received commendations for their actions even though the Republic was forced to withdraw.
Prior to the issuance of Order 66, the 42nd MIR was returned to Alderaan to stand down as a combat unit. After Chancellor Palpatine declared himself as the emperor, Bail Organa ordered the Alderaanian military to remain on Alderaan, stating they were needed for home defense of the planet. Bail Organa knew he was the Sith, the Jedi were searching for after he rescued Yoda after their saber duel in the Senate Chambers.
Within time, the Rebellion fomented and units like the 42nd MIR were slowly removed from the Empire’s roster of units and introduced to the Rebellion to restore the Republic. Mosh Karada and the soldiers he served with were thoroughly prepared to fight for the rebellion. They believed in Bail Organa and did as he and the royal family decreed. By 10BBY, Mosh Karada was promoted to Lieutenant and eventually in 3BBY, he rose to Company Command, leading “K” Company, 42nd Mobile Infantry Regiment.
The MIR slowly dwindled in size from being called upon to fight numerous battles against the Galactic Empire. By 1BBY, Captain Karada’s company was reduced to a platoon strength of 45 soldiers. Later that year, Karada’s company found itself aboard the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, known as The Keep. When the unit ventured to Anexes, a planet, Captain Karada had left blood, sweat and tears on 18 years prior as a Sergeant, they took even more losses. Karada’s platoon went into action at the spaceports with a full complement of 45 troopers, but only 26 survived to return home with The Keep. Many of the soldiers of First Platoon, Rancor Company were disheartened by the loss of their comrades on Anaxes. Morale is currently quite low for Karada’s Platoon.
The Alderaanian Platoon Commander frequently requests for replacements from the Rancor Company Commnader. His platoon mates grumble and complain about their condition just as frequently and mourn the loss of their brothers and sisters who died on Anaxes.
Supporting Cast:
These are the survivors of Karada’s First Platon, Rancor Company, including Captain Karada. These soldiers have been together for over a year and survived the recent action on Anaxes in the fight to acquire equipment.
Total: 1 Officer, 9 NCOs and 16 lower enlisted. 21 Male and 5 female soldiers
The Platoon originally boasted a strength of 45 soldiers with ten men per squad. Karada’s Platoon lost 19 casualties recently in a botched attempt to acquire equipment at the spaceports on Anaxes. The Platoon was originally organized with a headquarters section consisting of the Platoon Commander and Platoon Sergeant; an Anti-Tank section consisting of three AT gunners and four 10-man rifle sections. The A280 Blaster Rifle (BR) is the primary rifle for the platoon. Each Section has one T-21 Light Repeating Blaster that serves as the squad light machine gun and two Merr Sonn GL-11 Grenade Launchers. The Platoon is also authorized three anti-Tank gunners who use the PLEX Rocket Launchers. The Platoon is currently short twelve riflemen, three AT gunners and four grenadiers.
It is a good idea to integrate someone's character into an existing person's unit. It can work well without detracting from the action in the story. I once had a character who lead a Brigade. In fact, he was of the Kuat family in this universe. I organized the Brigade down to every detail as a few you know, I enjoy doing. ;) Someone else took on the role of a Platoon leader within my brigade. Although, my character gave operational instructions to the battalion commanders, I did not specify what the other author's platoon did. He could read the instructions Brigadier Kuat gave to his Battalion commander and then place his platoon wherever he wanted. It worked quite well and I enjoyed the other author's writing. He did a great job with the platoon. It does work when the characters are removed by an echelon or more. Like you said on Discord, it is difficult to write a squad RP. My more successful RPs were ones, where I controlled a squad, platoon, company, battalion or brigade on my own.
@Sep Thank you for that list of Character flaws. I never knew what a character flaw was before that. ;) I will take a second look at Mosh Karada's weaknesses.
@Gunther CAn always trust you to do military well. The only thing is, Palpatine didn't reveal himself to be a Sith Lord. He formed the Empire and declared himself Galactic Emperor. Bail would have known with his Jedi Connection but it's whether or not he would have told anyone.
I believe Bail (Jimmy Smitts) knew. He was with Yoda and Obi Wan at the end. He helped Yoda escape the Senate Chambers after fighting with Palpatine. In my original text, I stated Bail Organa knew. He didn't have to share it with anyone, but he was still in position to recall Alderaanian military units.
Looking forward to seeing what happens down the line when Tarkin wants to build a hyperspace lane through Alderaan...

I am interested and would like to have a Platoon-sized element of ground pounders similar to the troops that supported Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor on Scarif. The Platoon may have numbered 35 - 40 at one time, but is roughly half that at the start of this RP.

“If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.”
Theme Song: Warrior’s Call
Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago.

<div style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division <span class="bb-i">"Yankee"</span> and 29th Infantry Division (Light), <span class="bb-i">"The Blue and the Gray"</span>. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.<br><br>I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.<br><br>When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.<br><br>There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.<br><br>I have real-world martial arts experience. <br><br>Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. :(]<br><br>Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.<br><br>Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.<br><br>--Gunther (AKA: Old School)<div class="hider-panel"><div class="hider-heading"><button type="button" class="btn btn-default btn-xs hider-button" data-name="Gunther">Gunther [+]</button></div><div class="hider-body" style="display: none"><span class="bb-b"><div class="bb-h2">Character Summary</div></span><br><br>Name: Gunther<br>Aliases: <font color="#1b1464"><span class="bb-i">Landain</span></font><br>Age: old (I was around when George Washington was a Lieutenant)<br>Birthday: August 12<br>Ethnicity: French, English, & Seneca (Iroquois Confederation)<br>Location: New England<br>Gender: Male<br>Higher Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice<br>Occupation: Substitute School Teacher<br>Languages: English, Spanish, German & a little French<br>Years RPing: 18<br>Preferred RP Section: Advanced or Casual <br>RP Level: Advanced<br>Dedication Level: Moderate<br>Biggest RP Pet Peeve: People who do not communicate with the group and drop.
