If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I posted, but what's the Discord for this RP?

Discord
HOw we doing? I was just looking to see where we were here. I'm ready, but then I'm hte second to last poster. :)
I have a post ready. Need to see what Nox has before I post. I will be busy for the next five hours. I will check then.
Yes, I was looking for a starting platform. With Grathik improvements, this could be much better. More than likely the Terrex has an Aluminum hull similar to the M113. This armor can stop small arms except for .50 cal (12.7mm) but nothing larger. The engine block can stop a .50 cal slug, but then the vehicle is done. If a .50 cal round were to penetrate the side of the hull, hte first impact slows the projectile down enough so that it cannot exit. The projectile will bounce around the inside of the vehicle for a bit penetrating all soft fleshy objects contained within.

I have begun writing my next post. I will wait for Noxious to post before I put it up.
Briefly, this is my intent: I have the Support Element/Base of Fire element (1st & 2nd Squad & two MG teams) laying down a withering fire for two full minutes before the assault element moves through the kill zone.

This is a sweet little ride...

I like the Battle Management system. The vehicle commander and driver do not need to ride with the hatches open. They remain buttoned up and still have an awesome view of the exterior as long as the cameras remain intact. The US Stryker system has this BMS intelligence system also.
Mmmm, now there is an IFV/APC I could get behind. It holds 12 troops! I know they would be very uncomfortable, but if all else, we could have five per platoon. It would be a far cry better than the Bradley, Namer, BMP-3 or BTR-90 where we would need 8 per platoon.

With three platoons in the company, that would be either 24 versus 15 vehicles + 2 for the Company Headquarters.

We could two people from the squad to be the driver and TC the way the US Army operates their Mech units or create Amphibian Assault Battalion like the USMC and have units with just driver and TC. If you take two guys away from the squads to be driver and TC it drops the number of dismounted infantry from 13 to 11. Fine by me and we have plenty of NPCs to take on the role of driver and Vehicle Commander (TC).
The Mi-17 is a good option too. It doesn't have the speed performance of the V-22 Osprey but can carry the same number of troops and be used for airborne operations. It also has better armaments. The BMP-3 falls into the same category as the Israeli Namer or the American Bradley. It cannot lift 17 troops in one hall; meaning we cannot put a full squad on one vehicle. We would need 8 vehicles per platoon. That is excessive. That would be 26 vehicles per company.
I noticed there was a conversation last night about Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). I do not have the time to sit on Discord and chat for long periods of time, but I try to catch up when I can. The best way to get ahold of me, is via a PM here on the forums.

I was thinking about this yesterday afternoon and like yourselves, had a few ideas. In order to think about using tracked or wheeled vehicles, @HeySeuss must answer the question, Are there open tracts of land on Saina? Do roads exist, if not why would Centurion build roads where none exist? especially, on a planet where the inhabitants live beneath ground.

I have several options I have considered for our use in Foreign Legion. First is using trucks/lorries to move our squads and platoons around. I admit I have been working on a detailed organizational structure for the Centurion PMC. It is an oversized Brigade element or a small division. I have included trucks and a helicopter type vehicle to move troops around. With the helo, there must be open tracts of land, these vehicles cannot land in the jungle.

Option 1: 5-ton Truck/Lorry

You can comfortably sit 13 or more people in the back with or without the canvas and bows in the rear. You can fill sand bags and cover the floor of hte truck bed with them. You can take the roof off the cab and install a ring mount to place a machine gun or auto grenade launcher on top with a gunner in the passenger seat. Several armies around the world use "Motorized Infantry". The term motorized simply means the unit moves in wheeled vehicles.

Option 2: USMC AAVP7

The Amphibious Assault Vehicle, Personnel was designed for the USMC with their 13-man squads. It mounts an auto grenade launcher and a .50 cal MG. It carries a crew of 3 and can seat up to 21 combat marines. The Marines have Amphibious Assault battalions in their divisions who's sole purpose is to carry line marines into battle. They are amphibious and can be used to swim to shore via some landing ship. In the organization I am working on, I created two battalions of these AAVPs simply to transport the line units

Option 3: Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV)

The EFV is the replacement to the AAVP. It can travel a lot faster over water. It carries a crew of three and 17 fully loaded marines. It mounts a 30mm auto cannon similar to the one mounted on the M2/M3 Bradley IFV and a coaxial M240 MG. This vehicle would be perfect for our needs if there are large oceans and seas on Saina.

Option 4: Israeli Namer

The Namer is nice simply because it has Remote Control Weapon Stations (RCWS). But that system can be installed on every vehicle we talk about here. It is not unique to the Namer. The Namer is armed with an auto grenade launcher and .50 cal MG. the advantage the Bradley has, is the 25mm bushmaster cannon. The Namer seats a crew of three and 9 soldiers. The Bradley seats a crew of 3 and 7 soldiers. In either case, we would need two of these IFVs for each squad in our organization. I would honestly urge you to not select this vehicle primarily because we would need 8 vehicles per platoon.

Option 5: Aerospatiale SA-2 Samson

This is a fictionalized dual inducted rotary fan helicopter as seen in James Cameron's Pandora. Either Aerospatiale or the Grathik may have developed this for our use. What I love about this vehicle is its looks. It is very bad ass in appearance. The Samson mounts a pair of .50 caliber tri-barreled Hydra Machine guns which can fire a uranium tiped needle round. It can mount a pair of M240 MGs instead of the sci fi Hydras if needed as well as two 3.75" rocket pods. The Samson can carry up to 16 people with a crew of four. It would be perfect, but it is fiction. Personally, I am OK with that.

Option 6: V-22 Osprey

The V22 is a vertical take off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft that can fly like a helicopter or like a fixed wing aircraft. This gives it the advantage to land anywhere and fly faster than any helicopter on the planet. The V22 can mount three machine guns, one on each side and one on the rear ramp. The Osprey can seat 24 loaded soldiers. It can be used for airborne operations as well.

Option 7: Fictional Infantry Fighting Vehicle.

Image not available.

If someone would like to create a tracked or wheeled vehicle armed with 25mm cannon, .50 cal MG, 7.62mm MG and/or AT systems employing RWCS and can move 17 combat loaded soldiers, go for it. Even if we give it a fictional name with these characteristics, that might work too.

@CaptainBritton@Hellis@Vietmyke@Lord Shaxx
Now they were outside the wire in the thick running about dressed in barbie's discards.

...but the negligent discharge of a firearm, well that was just plain audible.

...the one who seemed to be in a leadership position sniffed at the air curiously though very slowly began to level its weapon their direction, Boggs took no chance "Weapons free, weapons free!" came through clearly over the net, firing commenced, incoming and outgoing it was loud, caused displacement of loose foliage and the shattering of the less strengthened branches,

Two rounds, two rounds, two rounds.

Man, I physically laughed my arse off when I read the "barbie's discards" comment. That was great! :D
the "just plain audible" comment was humorous also. Love it.
Looks like we are in the shit now.
I will retain Sergeant Boggs as the PSG. Hua
As a side note, Atwater and Boggs were the last two dudes in the entire column. The Asst PSG, one MG team and the two AT gunners were between 2 and 3. But that is trivial. I love it, you write well, bro.
On a side note, another common expression for "two rounds" is "Double tap".
@JDolan was the first to mention the lack of a roll that should be felt by a ship at sea! Woo Hoo! I was looking for that one. ;)
I have the greek yogurt and 2 teaspoons of chia seeds at lunch along with some turkey and romaine lettuce. That's pretty much my entire diet here on this forum with a few fruit or egg snacks mixed in someplace.
