@Arkitekt Thanks for posting this. I believed this was your intent before I started writing the CS. I in no way confused this Role Play with a tabletop RPG I played almost 40 years ago.

I did base Lys Cowles on Petyr Baelish, from a Song of Ice and Fire. I even stole an image of Aiden Gillen who plays "Littlefinger" on Game of Thrones. What you suggest as his flaw, is where I was heading. He does tend to piss people off and if he remains in the same place for too long, he will burn a bridge and could get chased out of town if not worse. Look what happened to Lord Baelish in Season 7, GoT. Unless, someone in a high place take him under their wing, offering protection.

Attire: Lysander or as he is informally known, Lys (pronounced Lee) prefers to dress immaculately. He pays special attention to his hair, never out of place, smooth like his demeanor. He dresses in some of the finest clothing he can find in wools, cottons and leather. He prefers dark colors like black, brown, dark green, violet or navy blue.
Demeanor: Lys appears to be a warm, loving and kind mind. He is quick and easy with the words. He is a smooth talker, warming up to people quickly. If he does not receive a warm reception from someone, he does not waste his time with that person, moving on to his next mark. Lys enjoys gaining the confidence of someone in order to trick them out of their possessions or outright steal it from them.

Background:

Lysander Cowles, also known as Lys (“Lee”) grew up in a port city to a dock-working father and loving mother. That was the first ten years of his life. Both parents died in a storm, leaving their young son to fend for himself. He took over the work of his father hauling freight onto ships or unloading ships onto the docks. He received sufficient money to buy clothing and food for his sustenance. Lysander Cowles had no home.

The home his parents resided in was owned by a gentleman who did not see a profit in allowing a child to reside there alone. Lys was forced to live on the streets of Rockport, a port city located about sixty kilometers south of Guillian and more than a few hundred kilometers north of Avondyllac. The city traded in fish and other commodities, insignificant quantities to the bustling trade of the Empire of Nine’s Capital to the north. There were honestly more fishing vessels in Rockport than other incidental trade.

Lysander was a student of human behavior observing the interactions of all sorts. He acquired a keen understanding of motivations of men. He was able to use this knowledge to manipulate a situation, gaining confidence and tricking people out of their possessions.

By the time he was 16, the master longshoreman grew tired of Lysander’s games and fired him. The local City’s Watch no longer wanted him in the city; his reputation had grown. The young master Cowles traveled the Empire of the Nines making a living any way he could, relying on his skills to help him survive.

During the twenty-five years of wandering the Empire, Lys has taken on various identities including a minor lord from a little known western province, named Lord Ser Geoffrey Martin. His other identities help conceal his true identity. In fact, he rarely tells people his real name trusting no one.

He has acquired a modest wardrobe of clothing of various earthen and darkened colors tailored to his various identities. He has developed a penchant for acting or role playing as a result of his disguises. Upon his left breast, he wears a silver brooch helping him identify with the character he is currently portraying. For Mord Bachand he wears a silver palm tree. For Lord Ser Geoffrey Martin he wears a silver thistle. For Malachai Winslow he wears a silver crescent moon arcing over three small stars. For Creighton Fellows he wears a silver blooming lily.

He rents a small hovel near the edge of the Market district and a nearby residential area in the city of Guillian. In his small room, there is a bed and a chest of drawers containing his modest collection of clothing, brooches and other tricks of his trade. Lysander has been in Guillian for the past year and is currently known by the name Creighton Fellows by those who come in contact with him.

You are sort of correct. 30 is very young for a Commander. I was a Captain (Equivalent to Lieutenant for our purpose) when I was 30. A Commander would be 35 at the minimum, but more likely late 30s or even early 40s.

I'll rewrite Damaris' history and age to make her more appropriate for her position as helmsman. 37, may be old enough for a Commander/First Officer, but too old for a helmsman. I may even change the image because Gina Ravera is actually a bit older than this.

SKILLSET: Damaris is a skilled helmsman and navigator. She has worked her way up through the ranks in Operations with only minor skills in Engineering. She has no talent Medical. Damaris’ personality dictates her to become a negotiator one day. She has the foundations; patience, reading people’s behavior and knowing when to say the right thing. Damaris is always able to understand both sides of an argument, but needs an accomplished negotiator to guide her in the proper direction.

As a young woman, Damaris trained in various martial arts including Kempo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Krav Maga. She holds an equivalent to a third-degree black belt in a mixed martial art set. Her abilities in unarmed combat have provided the career Terran officer with a heightened confidence and level of discipline. She can read body language and whether or not someone is about to attack. She has had experience in a few weapons including kamas, bo staff, nunchukus and the sword as well as a hand-held energy weapon.

PERSONALITY PROFILE: Damaris is a thrill seeker and a risk taker. “You can’t win if you don’t play.” She is curious about the universe, but considers herself a big picture realist. She has been cursed or blessed with a double vision. This insight allows her to see multiple sides to every story. Most of the time this is an advantage when attempting problem-solving because her ideas are also grounded in reality. She is not given to flights of fantasy overwhelmed by unrealistic idealism. She can be a rock to those who take to the stars figuratively, bringing them back to the real world.

Damaris is objective, refusing to take opinions on subjects. Some would say she is wishy-washy, she prefers the term flexible. Her flexibility helps her to adapt to changing conditions and understands what moves to make next in any given situation due to changing parameters. The challenges of operating in deep space excite her thrill-seeking tendencies. Any risks she takes with the ship are calculated. She would never take an action that contained unnecessary risks where she had not already considered the consequences. Above all, Damaris Glenn is intelligent.

HISTORY: Damaris Glenn was born and raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States of America to an African American father and a Spanish-speaking Latin mother. She excelled in academics and athletics, training in martial arts as young as seven years of age. She excelled in Karate demonstrations as a teen feeling very natural with the moves. In her late teens, after receiving a black belt in Kempo, she began training in BJJ.

She studied Earth history at the University of Massachusetts and was accepted into the Terran Republic Starfleet Academy after receiving a baccalaureate degree. While at UMASS she continued training in BJJ and kept her body in excellent shape. She always looked for ways to challenge herself physically through running marathons or various obstacle courses hosted in the New England area.

While at Starfleet, she received her black belt in BJJ and began training in Krav Maga. She learned that the Israeli martial art system was a common sense system of self-defense that integrated many other fighting styles including Kempo and BJJ. Her background did give her an advantage, especially in sparring with classmates.

While at the academy, she trained in operations focusing on helm operations and navigations. Her first assignment aboard the Renaissance, a Science/Exploratory ship as the ship’s helmsman. Ensign Glenn had some difficulties early on but eventually blended well with the crew and was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade after eighteen months’ time in service. Lieutenant JG Damaris Glenn contracted a rare form of influenza while with an away team on a distant world. She was quarantined in sick bay aboard the Renaissance for eight weeks before her fever broke and she was able to return to duty. The medical personal aboard ship took several biopsies, studying her symptoms and biological changes to determine the causes of her flu and how to treat it. Eventually, they named her form of influenza the Glenn Flu.

After four years in Terran Republic Star Fleet, Damaris was promoted to Lieutenant and is awaiting assignment to her next ship. It is rumored she will be posted to the Hawking. Damaris has a mild intrepidation but ultimately believes she will do fine.

FLAW: Commander Glenn is a gambler who is willing to take a risk herself. She is not willing to risk others. She can be overly confident, but is also reticent. As long as she does not speak, one will not see her arrogance displayed. If she witnesses weaknesses in others, she often times mentally writes them off. This translates as a lack of confidence in her peers.
