If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I am truly fond of cows, chickens, pigs and turkeys...delish!
Same thing with the kind of guys that made resupply runs for the Air Cav or at Khe Sanh.

So I might play a mix of Forward Observer officers, pilots of airlift, resupply and combat aircraft and, depending on the region, this could involve naval gunfire as well.

Assuming this all works for you @Jaredthefox92, I am just brainstorming my thoughts here.

I was considering doing something with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. 1st & 2nd Battalions, 503rd PIR made the one and only combat jump of the Vietnam War at Dak To in 1967. I'm not interested in recreating the jump. But I will take 1st Battalion, 503rd PIR and use their assets to support your intentions. I could use a company or two to conduct area ambushes in an attempt to prevent the PAVN forces from finding your downed pilot. I could even use the 173rd LRRS-D to operate within close vicinity of the pilot to help cordon off the area and be prepared to conduct the actual rescue; assuming these "Sky Soldiers" don't get put into a position where they are the ones in need of rescuing. LOL

Here's a thought in determining things; work out the region of Vietnam and the time period. The border with the North is a very different animal than the Mekong Delta, which is different from the Central Highlands and so forth. From there, we have a much better idea of what the force mix might look like, since ROK and ANZAC forces, for example, operated in two very different spheres.

Suggest Central Highlands 1967.

Oooh! I once read a book on an Australian Battalion sent to Vietnam. They were badass. I have very little memory of it. It was a very long time ago--35 - 40 years. I recall they had a high elan, similar to USMC units, 101st ABN, LRRPs or 173rd ABN. I do remember a description of a ROK (Republic of Korea) unit operating in South Vietnam. If a soldier fell asleep on guard duty, the sergeant of the guard was expected to execute the offending soldier on the spot. ROK soldiers were/are Rock hard!. When I was a Battalion staff officer, we had this young 2LT of Korean descent from California. His grandfather had served in an airborne unit in Vietnam with the ROK army. The 2LT told us, his grandfather had to complete 100 jumps in order to earn his parachutist badge in the ROK Army. He laughed at American paratroopers who only needed 5 jumps.
Vietnam is a war that was lost at home, not in the jungles of Vietnam. Most engagements the US were involved in, they won. The US won the battles, but the NVA won the war. It was simply unpopular because the American People viewed it as a revolution between the North and the South. The US government viewed it as a war of containment regarding communism; this is following the McCarthy era.

Honestly, bud. I would prefer US troops. You pick the fight, It is your RP. Do you want all of us in one squad (difficult) to manage and always seems to fail, or would you prefer we all take on different roles in very different organizations? That would hinder collaboration, but enable folks to employ much more creativity in their writing.
Hello @CaptainBritton, @HeySeuss and @Byrd Man. Ruck up, lock and load!
Interested. @Jaredthefox92If you have any questions about this period in American history, please ask.

Late in the war, US soldiers were wearing subdued patches, the M203 Grenade Launcher had replaced the iconic M79 and the US Army Rifle squad had reduced in size from 11 men to 9. The USMC rifle squad had reduced in size from 16 to 13. The Automatic Rifleman carried an M16A1 rifle with a bipod and extra ammo; firing on full auto all the time. You cannot say drug use was exactly rampant because in those units where esprit d'corp and strong leadership were available, drug use was non-existent. I know the US media likes to portray all americans serving in Southeast Asia as being drug users, but that is simply not true. This may have been true in REMF units, but not as much in front line combat units. REMF = Rear Echelon Mother Fuckers or POG = Personnel Other than Grunts.
I passed last night's stripe test. We tested on defense against a hair grab (front, rear or sides), simple takedown, high break fall and a complicated punch/kicking combination that I won't repeat here. The defense against a hair grab may or may not be based on the individual's possession of hair, but may include the wearing of a hoodie or someone grabbing the back of your collar.
Every time someone mentions smut or something along of the lines of "let my OC romance XX canon character" in a 1x1 check, I die a little inside. Like, there's nothing wrong with that if that's what you enjoy, but c'mon, I just want a decent RP without all of that. Not every RP needs smut and/or romance.

I believe we are in agreement here. When I come on this site, the last thing I want to write about is romance or that other nonsense they post about. I just like being creative with my writing. Not looking for romance. I have a wife, whom I love dearly.

First squad deployed to the left of the ramp of the shuttle while the fourth squad deployed to the right. Within seconds the two squads, roughly 20 imperial soldiers began bounding forward into the Junkers’ fire. For every two men, one was remaining in place firing well aimed fire into the enemy while the other was moving forward ten or twenty meters. The soldier bounding forward searched for his next piece of cover before he moved. The squads continued this cover and movement technique for a few minutes until they got to a point closer to the enemy and the fire became more intense. The squads needed to take a brief respite firing into the enemy as the leaders developed a plan.

Sergeant Vytuia began giving out orders for the squad to lay down a base of fire. Then he called on Kato and the new guy to make a flanking maneuver. "Okoye and Skaya go left, quickly. Everyone else pin down those bastards, keep their attention on us. But don't do anything stupid."

Kato and Skaya didn’t think, they didn’t waste time, they reacted. The pair jumped up and dashed left into the heaps of trash. Laser fire chased them into their next cover, but they made it. As soon as they settled into their spot, Kato set up his T-21 LRB laying down a base of fire.

Kato heard Skaya say something to him, "Let's not draw their attention this way if we can't help it. Once we're close, I'm going to try to get around and get a clean shot on the rebel manning the gun; if ya could, I'd appreciate some cover from the rest of his buddies."

“You lead on, Skaya. I’ve got your back!” Kato yelled at KY-9914. Kato stopped shooting, jumped to his feet and chased after Skaya. They hadn’t gotten far when laser blasts raced in their direction nearly missing both of their heads.

"Cover me!" Skaya yelled back at Kato who dropped to the ground near the edge of a rusted-out engine. He found the origination of the laser fire and began pumping bolts back in that direction. As Malik Skaya raced forward, Kato and the rest of the squad unleashed hell upon the few remaining Junkers defending their scrap pile.

Kato saw a Junker go down from one of Malik’s laser bolts. As soon as the body hit the ground, Kato was on his feet sprinting to catch up. He would dive for cover and resume firing a number of more times before they would reach their destination.
