GM Note just to clarify the [Death Likely] bit in the title.

A few people have asked me how character death will be handled in the roleplay, and while I don't plan on axing off people's hard work, I do enjoy a bit of risk in storytelling. If your character pulls some stupidity and ends up in a situation where the cast has to risk their own lives trying to save you, or save themselves, and choose to leave you behind. You'll have to live with your decision. But again, I'm not going into this with a killing wish, those circumstances will just arise naturally based on where the story goes and the choices the players make.

Now if you ghost the RP without giving an explanation? Expect your character to be deceased when you return.
Might take me a day or two, but I'll whip something up soon (if it's still available)

It’ll always be open. Even if your character doesn’t get recruited in the first town, the idea is to get a backlog of recruits to accumulate as they’re traveling.
Alright, I came up with a rudimentary concept and sent a PM. Feel free to judge as you see fit.

RP mom is on it.
Actually, I have one last question, since half-elves and people with elf ancestry are a thing. Can they use Elf magic or no?

Eld magic can be used by anyone who's taught how to use it. That magic just falls under the category of Whimsy, and Whimsy are hunted and down by the Mage Knights. SO to answer the question: Anyone can use Eld Magic, half-elf, half-dwarf, human, or dwarf since it's just a style of non-aura magic that was taught by the elves. But the catch is, there's not too many people that have that information! If you want to work with me on something involving that away from the public eyes my DMs are so open.

Okay, nevermind.

Thanks for passing through!
Since I see a CS has been posted. So do we just edit the cs you post or?

There’s 3 pre-approved people that have had the sheet format before the OOC went up. I’d have others shoot me a PM with their character ideas first so we can plan around when they would be joining.
yeah I can manage that fine so I guess I'll try apply, I feared it was a few times a week as I see often XD

one more question then, though, can we put 0 in a start (i.e. lower than E) if we have absolutely no interest in it like Aura, or will we actively have at least the bare minimum in all of these things (I suppose perhaps that is why the max is 6 for a stat out of a total of 10, so that we if maximize one thing the rest will always be 1 to begin with).

Quality > Quantity

No 0s, E essentially equates to a zero and I’d like to avoid having anyone with an S in anything right from the get-go. I’d like to see the characters have room for growth, so a weak spread is semi-intended? But if you have a neat idea that you’d like to run by me, hit me up.

How often were u expecting people to post? Im interested but keeping up with some groups is hard 😕

Biweekly at the minimum, with exceptions for life circumstances. The reason I’m starting the party so small is to streamline things and keep the posting order trimmed and loose. When the cast grows it could be fine to slow down and even have parts of the group branch to do something else, but at the start I’d like to keep a curtain degree of momentum.

Actually, I have a second question. Is it possible to somehow have a character with elf blood in them? Like a descendant of an elf-human union?

Do half-elves exist? Yes.
Are they rare? Very.

You’ll see more people with distant traces of elf in their heritage than someone that’s a product of elvish and human matrimony. Half-dwarves are actually more common.
Interested in this and what else can be said about Whimsy people and magic?

They're typically nomadic or live out in the sticks away from people due to persecution. Fenris and Haldr are open to them living in their cities as long as they're making contributions as local healers/seers. Kala has pockets of them in their entertainment hubs but they're not allowed to make their abilities known to the public, doing so usually has them end up in a cell or lined up with the headsman.

Magic? The type of stuff you'd see a druid do other than shapeshifting.

Yeah, I can definitely see that. Math rocks are fun in person, less so in play-by-post.

I think I understand, but just to confirm, in the example you just gave, are you saying that while both passed the check, the person with the higher score would be able to do decide how they want it to play out? I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.

The checks are meets it beats it, so it means either has the opportunity to make the check. Higher checks are usually more pivotal things, and I'd withhold that information. But by that logic yes people can fail checks when they attempt them. It would then be my role to write the failure and what that results in.
Hi! Tossing my interest into the ring as well. I think I've played enough tabletop rpgs to understand the stats, but when you say "Stat Check", how exactly will that work? Is that just us deciding how our character will perform on that check based on their stats? Very, very intrigued by the story!

Good question! It'll be a behind the DM screen check with a stat threshold rather than rolling dice. While I'm a huge 5e, Pathfinder, Daggerheart, and my beloved MÖRK BORG fan I don't usually like using dice in play-by-post format because it slows down an already relatively slow pace. Shoutout to my homie Stone who is a former RPguild writer.

In the example below the stat explanation: say there are two characters with high charisma... lets say one person's at [B] and the other is at [A], both are high but I'd set the check at [B] with both of the characters having the opportunity to make the check. Both can attempt, both could be successful, but if the person with the [A] score wants to do something else they're free to do so without holding everyone up.
