Luke eyes widened at Gavin’s ability as the guy easily bit clean through a sturdy metal plate, and let out an impulsive hiss, baring his fangs, in revulsion at the horrible noise the plate made. The sound was nearly deafening to those with normal hearing but unfortunately for Noelle the sound must have been down right painful. He glanced back at Gavin, “Sorry man, I guess I got some animal instincts there.” He glanced over at Noelle, who had thrown herself to the ground, if the sound was obnoxious to him, he could barely imagine what it was like for someone with super hearing.

“You okay? They should’ve given you some ear muffs or something to help, I mean it’s gotta be annoying to hear everything that clearly.” Luke placed a hand on her shoulder and kept his voice to a whisper as he spoke. “On plus side, that’ll be an awesome skill set for sneaking around or maybe getting out of here later. What do you guys say, all for one, one for all. No way in hell am I going to become someone’s “pet” and I’d hate to see anyone like that.” He glanced around the room and noticed the other two talking to the panther-girl. "I guess we should also get to know the others some, try and see what they're about."

@Kit DewStein Nah don't feel bad, it was 50% right lol, just don't want things to be confusing as another character is named Jakobe.
Bodhi Fisher

Location; Apartment building → Bodhi’s home → The Beach.
Interacting With; No one in particular

“Dude, I’m telling you this shit right here is a quality sativa, very uplifting, my dude’s calling it Coral Reefer, and this is totally exclusive. I’m only offering it to the best customers, you’d be one of the first dudes to light this up.” Bodhi explained, giving his best sales pitch to Justin, a hipster-type acquaintance. He sat a slightly upscale apartment with Justin and two of his friends whose names Bodhi couldn’t remember. His beat up old backpack rested between his legs and he unzipped the bag and pulled out a pill bottle that contained a rather large bud. “I mean give it look, take a sniff. Nice and sticky, blue hairs, perfect covering of trichomes.”

“Dude, I don’t know, I mean I got a medical card now, the dispensary’s cheaper.” One of Justin’s friends started to say.

“Whoa man, I didn’t know you wanted some corporate ditch weed. I mean this is local, small batch, artisan shit right here. This is grown with love by a true sixties throwback, not some mass-produced factory plants.” Bodhi continued, choosing his words carful to appeal to his customer.

“Bodhi, Bodhi, man this is what I want,” Justin said handing back the pill bottle to Bodhi. “I’ll take an ounce.” He said, standing up and pulling out a wad of cash. Bodhi nodded and pulled out a sealed bag of weed and handed it to Justin in exchange for the cash.

“Awesome, good seeing you again man, enjoy.” Bodhi said before heading out. So far, his day had been productive; caught some early morning waves and made some cash giving a couple surf lessons, finished up some assignments for class, and now he’d finished making deliveries. He headed back to his car, a ’95 blue jeep wrangler, lifted and capable of some off-roading when he got the urge. His car was actually a couple years older than he, and try as he might he nor anyone else he knew could ever get the air to work, but he took good care of it, knew a enough about cars that he could tinker with it for small problems and knew a couple of older surfers with significate automotive knowledge who helped him out with bigger problems.

Bodhi headed back home; he still lived in a small, run down, house with his mom rather than rent an apartment with friends or live in the dorms at school. It was close to both campus and the beach which was a major plus, and he knew his mom would have a hard time making rent without his help. “Maverick!” He shouted as he walked through the front door and headed into the kitchen. An energetic, eight-year-old black Labrador bounded forth from the old couch in the main room, followed Bodhi into the kitchen, while spinning in circles and wagging his entire back end with excitement. He put the majority of the money he'd made in a coffee can on top the fridge for his mom, while keeping some to buy more product later, and a small amount for himself. He headed into his own cramped room; the walls were adorned with surf posters and his boards, piles of laundry on the floor, and a collection of school books and notebooks covered his unmade bed. He stashed most of the money in his sock drawer, keeping a small amount in his wallet for later, and dumped the contents of his back pack on the bed. He grabbed an old chewed up Frisbee and a beat up leather leash and went to take Mav for a walk followed by a game fetch the Frisbee until his four-legged friend was worn out and they headed back home. Bodhi grabbed a cup in the kitchen and scooped the dog’s dinner from the large bag of dog food that he grabbed from the top of the refrigerator. He poured the cup of food into Mav’s bowl and the dog immediately began wolfing it down.

Bodhi, having been up since just before sunrise, took a quick nap on the couch while Mav, after finishing his dinner, found a spot on a nearby chair. When he got back up again he check the time, the school bonfire thing wasn’t until a bit later that night, so he still had some time to head back to the beach and hopefully catch a few more waves and still have some time to stop back at home to drop off his board, shower, and change. He left his shirt and flip flops in his room, grabbed his shortboard, packed his backpack with the essentials; one bottle of sunscreen, one large towel, water, and one bar of Mr. Zog's Sex Wax, before he headed out to the beach. He kept his phone in a waterproof case zipped up in the pocket of his board shorts along with his keys and wallet. He picked a spot in the sand just far enough from shore that his stuff would stay dry and began waxing up his surfboard.

Luke tilted his head to the side as he watched Gavin’s mandibles in action. “Yeah, I’m sure that definitely sucks, but skins pretty stretchy, right? I’m sure you’ll adjust, just give it time. Maybe try focusing on something else. Me, I’m no stranger to pain, that’s usually what I did. Hey, how strong you think those mandibles are? Think you could bite through stuff?” He said shifting the subject around a bit, he made a conscious effort to keep his voice low so he wouldn’t bother Noelle too much. If they were trying to make super soldiers here they must all have some useful skills.

“See, way I figure it, we’ve all got to have something useful, something that would qualify use to be “super soldiers,” ever since I woke up I can tell my reflexes are fast and I’m guessing,” he paused for a second to open his mouth wide enough for his fangs to pop forth, “that these are venomous. So, you gotta have some strength in those bug jaws, right?” He said taking a second to size up Gavin, nothing else besides the wings immediately stood out as being weaponizable.

He then glanced over at Noelle. “You’ve got super hearing, right? You think you can do that echo thing bats do? Or any other cool new powers? I mean we freaks gotta stick together now. I don’t know what you guys are thinking but I’ve got a real bad feeling about this place and if I’m right, well then if we stick together I think we have chance at gettin’ out, not right away of course, but our moment will come and I think we should be ready to take it when it does.” Luke said softly as he studied the expressions of Noelle and Gavin as he spoke.

Luke noticed that Gavin avoided eye contact with him, he wondered if he had offended him. It was likely, a lot of people found Luke’s looks and attitude to be more than a bit much. He watched the guy free his wings from where they were trapped underneath a hoodie. He felt a little jealous about the wings, he imagined being able to fly would be incredible. Gavin mentioned that the mutations were painful, and Noelle, who mentioned she’d been spliced with bat, also mentioned the added sensitivity to her hearing. When he woke up he had felt a deep ache in all of his muscles but pain was something he got used to feeling a long time ago.

“Maybe the pain will fade once you get used to it. Like your muscles just have to get used to their new usage with the mandibles and wings, and once they get used to it you’ll feel normal again.” Luke suggested, making an effort to keep his voice lower now that he knew Noelle’s ears were pretty sensitive. “It’s kind of weird smelling things with my tongue.” He said with a shrug. He flicked his black forked tongue which picked up the scents of the food, other people, and the hints of fear and anxiety that mixed in the room. “But I guess I lucked out some, nothing really hurts too bad on my end.”
