Nadeline once again pulled Emiri behind her, glaring at Jaakuna. "Spare us your stories, I know who you are and what you've done." She stated, once again taking out her rapier and pointing it at him. "I don't know what business you have with Emelia, but it ends here. Leave her be, I'm taking her back home with me."

"Nadeline!" Emiri yelled, once more grabbing her hand. "Have you gone mad?! What are you going on about? Do you really believe you can best him in a fight? You idiot!"

The blonde shifted her glare to Emiri. "No, YOU are the idiot here! Are you telling me that you're going to trust this man?! The streets have not only dulled your manners, they've dulled your way of thinking as well! Now stay out of this." Emiri unsheathed her own sword, and at this Nadeline was shocked. "Do you truly dare to use your weapon against me? Last I checked I still bested you at all our lessons."

"That was a long time ago." Emiri stated bitterly. "I'm making my own choices here."

The two glared at one another, effectively ignoring Jaakuna at the moment. Weapons in hand, tensions high--just like old times.
Nadeline pulled Emiri some distance away from the brothers, letting them talk, and giving the pair space to converse themselves. Nadeline looked Emiri straight in the eye, trying her hardest to look sincere. "Listen, Lia...whatever is happening does not concern us. The Marquis and...Jaakuna...seem to have it under control." What was she talking about? Still, Emiri listened carefully, though she did look back at the brothers. "I do not think you are aware...if that man is truly related to Roman, you must know. I believe he is one of the royal princes of Archadia."

Emiri's eyes widened. It was just one bombshell after another, wasn't it? She shook her head in disbelief. "You...you can't be serious...!"

Nadeline squeezed her hand. "Please, you need to forget him. Come with me, Vlyn and Aloa are here in Bhujerba as well. We can return to Rozarria and forget about all this. I know you must love him, but with the way relations between Rozarria and Archadia are at present, this can only end in disaster."

She didn't even care about Nadeline's comment on their relationship. She was in a state of shock. It did make some sense, however...he could've been lying about the bounty, wanting to bring her back to Archadia. But it didn't seem like he was lying...and then there was Savayna. She was hunting him down, so he wasn't going to turn her over to them, right? Emiri was so confused, and she looked from Nadeline to Jaakuna. What should she do?

Meanwhile, Roman was contemplating on Jaakuna's words. He had done more harm then hurt, but perhaps at the very least, he could get Carlo out of danger. He then nodded, stating, "It is difficult to run from the past, brother." He paused, looking over at Nadeline; she was having a serious conversation with Emiri, it seemed. "I don't know what you're doing here, but it would seem you are at a crossroad." He motioned to Nadeline. "That young woman is related to Rozarrian nobility. It seems as if she and the young woman you were with recognize one another. I have ordered her to return to her country; it looks like she will be taking the young woman with her." Roman sighed, looking back at Jaakuna. "I won't force you to do anything, but you can't possibly please anyone, brother. You're going to have to choose...either you deal with the past and Savayna--" He looked at the Aerodome. "--Or you take care of whatever business you need to deal with in the future." He looked at Emiri, who was receiving some surprising news. "I will stand by whatever decision you make. It's the least I can do for you."
"Oh my, how romantic." Nadeline blushed, jabbing Emiri. "You have yourself a lover, why in the world would you run away from him?" This time, Emiri pinched Nadeline. "Ow! What was that for?!" Emiri opened her mouth to make a retort, but the two were interrupted by Jaakuna calling out someone's name. At that point, it hit Nadeline: Jaakuna looked like Roman! That was why his appearance confounded her. Granted they differentiated in some parts, but physically, Jaakuna was the spitting image of a younger Roman.

The man in question recognized the voice. It would seem fate would bind him to Archadia after all. He cleared his throat, giving a signal to one of his soldiers, and calmly walked over to the group. "[A lady in each arm? I thought you were a dedicated man." He joked, though his face did turn to something serious. "Bringing the Ifrit here...what were you thinking? I now have a hostage situation at hand, you know. It seems Lady Savayna would resort to anything to get to you, even ignoring me and causing a ruckus." He looked at both Nadeline and Emiri--what was Jaakuna doing associating with the Rozarrian Princess? He then sighed, shaking his head. "One headache after another...you never change, do you, my little brother?"

Emiri's jaw dropped at this point. So not only was he married to a general, he was also related to a Marquis?! He accused her of hiding things, meanwhile he was just a big bag of secrets himself, it seemed. Nadeline, however, did not take this news well. She put on a very serious face, gently pulling Emiri away from Jaakuna. She knew well of Roman's origins--if Jaakuna was related to him, then he was of the enemy empire. What in the world was Emiri doing with such a man? But doesn't that make it even more romantic? In love with a man from the enemy...it's straight out of a romance novel!
Nadeline furrowed her brow, watching the Marquis. What in the world had prompted him to call the soldiers at this time of night? For some reason, she immediately looked to the brunette, raising an eyebrow, though something out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. Emiri was also watching, though her thoughts were elsewhere. Did this have anything to do with the General chasing Jaakuna? Maybe she shouldn't have been so quick to leave him. In a second, Nadeline brandished her rapier, pointing it at their unexpected guest. Emiri whipped around, blinking in surprise to see Jaakuna himself standing behind the pair. Speak of the devil and he shall appear before you. Emiri thought, guiltily avoiding eye contact with him. She quickly grabbed Nadeline's wrist, shaking her head. Nadeline looked from Emiri to Jaakuna, though she did stare at Jaakuna for quite a bit.

"You...have we met?" Nadeline was sure she had recognized him from somewhere. Why couldn't she match a name to his face? She definitely knew him from somewhere, she hardly ever forgot people. His name was on the tip of her tongue, too.

Emiri missed her statement, quickly hissing, "For someone who dislikes violence you sure are quick to draw your blade. Stay your sword, there is no need for it, Naddie."

Nadeline pointed said weapon at Emiri. "Who is this, Lia?" Had she no restraint, Emiri would have punched Nadeline in that smug face of hers. Luckily for the pair, while she was rough around the edges, she retained her impulse, instead glaring at her. Nadeline smirked somewhat, lowering her rapier. She caught on rather quickly that this Jaakuna didn't know of Emiri's real identity. She wondered what she did call herself, however.

"Jaakuna." Emiri spoke, finally looking at him. "What are you doing here?"
The smell of lavender was overwhelming that day. The flowers were to be used as decorations--apparently, they were his favorite. She'd never forget that flowery smell, a bittersweet one, as she would forever associate it with him. He had greeted her as he always did; a kiss upon her hand, despite not bearing any royal status, and her name rolling off his tongue in a mixture of a hungry desire and an unsaturated lust. But she was young, and did not understand that yet, and so his greetings to her were simply quirky and unusual.

Outside in the palace garden they sat, being attended to by the many servants of the castle. One would think that herself and her mother were people of importance. Still, she sat like the perfect girl her mother raised her to be, eyes emotionless and posture perfect, hands folded neatly in her lap as she let her mind wander. She never did pay much mind to the conversations; they were trivial, vain, and they bothered her, in a way.

That day was different, however, as he had taken her away from her mother and his father, and they walked through the garden. The flowers were always well taken care of, so beautiful, each looking like something out of a painting. Her favorite, however, was always the clovers hidden in the grass. True, they weren't flowers per say, but finding one was always a treat, even if the gardeners disliked them.

He had led her to the fountain, she recalled, a thing made of purest ivory and marble, placed right in the center of it all. They sat on a bench right in front of it, the water being still and home to a few birds as they bathed themselves.

His voice got her attention. "Tell me. What do you think of Rozarria?"

She was raised not to think. It was a surprising question, but after a moment, she replied with what she believed to be the natural answer, "It is my home, my protection." She said, unsure of what more to say.

The answer seemed to please him somewhat, and he nodded politely. " As the future ruler of Rozarria, it is of the utmost importance that I know what Rozarria means to its people. I want to be a source of strength, someone to whom everyone can turn to in their time of need." He spoke with much vigor, she pondered if he simply liked to hear himself speak. "Do you know what makes a person strong?"

She shook her head.

"Motivation. When they are motivated, the feats they can accomplish have no boundaries." He informed her. "For example, my father is motivated to protect his people. Your mother is motivated by her desire to taste the life of royalty."

"I...I beg your pardon?" She asked, uncertain where the conversation was headed.

He then took her hand in his, examining it closely. His hands were rough compared to hers, and he seemed to enjoy holding it. He raised her hand to his chest, gently pulling her closer. "As you are now, you are simply no more than a doll. You have no motivation to do anything, do you?" His words betrayed his smile.

She felt downright insulted, pulling her hand away. How rude of him to make such an assumption! "I am not a doll." She snapped, clearly angry, though it came out as more of a firmly voiced protest.

Once again he smiled, though this time he took a stray hair and tucked it behind her ear. "Then tell me, why are you here?" Before she could answer, he quickly interjected with, "You don't know, do you? I'll tell you why. Your mother wants me to take you as my bride."

At this point, her anger turned into shock. Surely, he was joking? She was a commoner, and he was to be the next Emperor. He seemed pleased at her uncertainty, once more taking her hand, gently patting it. "Yes. It would seem my father is very interested in a certain...gift you possess." He spoke, his voice quite pleasant, and he intertwined his fingers with hers. "With our marriage, we would keep you here, you see, safe from enemy hands, safe from those who would take advantage of such a thing."

"I..." She couldn't respond. Was it really true?

As if reading her mind, he chuckled to himself, though he then looked at her eyes. "It's really a shame you were born in a class you don't belong to. Really...you're quite beautiful, are you aware of this? Most women pale in comparison next to you...why, I think even my sister can't hold a candle to you." He kissed her hand once more, releasing it. "I think it's fitting, really. A beautiful young lady such as yourself becoming the bride to the next Emperor...your mother's greed works out in your favor. I also gain a beautiful wife."

It wasn't true. It couldn't be true. She felt her chest tighten, but the more she thought about it, the more it made sense. She shook her head, and looked at him. "And what if I refuse?"

He was genuinely surprised she would say such a thing, but it was quickly replaced by a very unnerving smile, and he made sure that he was as close to her as possible. "You think you have a say in the matter? Oh, that is very amusing...As I said, the choice has been made for you. You will be at my side, attending to my every want and need. Your parents have willed it and so has my father."

Emiri opened her eyes, meeting darkness as she did so. Why was she remembering that day of all things? True, it had opened her eyes to what a fool she had been. But why now, of all times? It seemed she still felt wounded from her argument with Jaakuna, specifically from her so called choices. She let out a low groan, sitting up from the couch. Not that much time had passed, but she surmised that Jaakuna was asleep. She stifled a yawn as she got up, feeling insecure and unsure.

She walked over to the glass doors and opened them, letting in a nice breeze. She let herself get out to the balcony, closing the doors behind her, and leaned on the railing. The sky was glittered with stars, the moon shining brightly. She let out a long sigh, enjoying the fresh air. She was about to head back inside when a commotion caught her attention. Several soldiers marched by the hotel, heading towards the Aerodome. They were Bhujerban--did something happen? A girl stepped out of the way and watched them go through.

Emiri had a bad feeling about this. Furrowing her brow, she tapped the railing, her eyes darting to the Aerodome. That seemed like the place to be tonight. Her eyes roamed, and she could have sworn she spotted a male Viera walking by. That was funny, he reminded her greatly of someone she had met a long time ago. She then watched the girl step back out into the street, and she ended up looking up at Emiri. At this point, however, Emiri figured she could probably get on an airship and leave. She reentered the room, taking her things, quietly slipping into her shoes as she went to the balcony once more.

Emiri swung herself over the railing, and dropped down onto the one underneath. She repeated the process until she finally hit the ground. Just as she made to walk forward, however, she walked right into someone. "Forgive me, I wasn't--" She began her apology, but gasped as she realized who she had bumped into.

Nadeline narrowed her eyes, brushing the dirt off her shoulder. "...You...You are Justine's child. Sister to Karolina, Lorenzo's wife, yes?" Emiri rolled her eyes, pushing past her. Nadeline spun around and grabbed Emiri's wrist. "What are you doing here?"

"Sightseeing." Emiri replied sarcastically. "The better question would be what YOU are doing here in Bhujerba, though I presume you must be lollygagging about. I truly envy you, obviously the life of a sheltered girl is one with much ease and freedom."

If looks could kill, Emiri would surely have been on the ground already. Nadeline's glare was as daggers, though she managed to regain her composure. She coughed a bit, releasing her grip on her. "I see roaming the streets has robbed you of your manners. Your mother would be wounded to hear so." Nadeline snapped, placing her hands on her hips. "You literally leapt off the balcony instead of coming down like NORMAL people."

Emiri didn't have time for this; she briskly walked past the blonde, further ignoring her. Unfortunately, she followed suit. The two walked in silence side by side, effectively annoying the other. Finally, Emiri let out in irritated huff and stopped in her tracks. "Naddie. Truly. You're getting annoying."

"We're heading to the same place." She pointed out. "You saw it too, didn't you? The Bhujerban soldiers heading for the Aerodome. Why would you be concerned?"

"I don't need to tell you. More importantly, you need to go back to...wherever you were. There could be a fight."

Nadeline hesitated slightly, shifting uncomfortably. "I can fight too, you know." She then sighed, shaking her head. "It...It matters not. Let's just get going." She muttered, taking the lead.

Typical Naddie. Takes the lead, bosses everyone around, and completely ignores everyone else. Exactly what her motivations were exactly, she had no idea. Emiri followed, knowing it'd be up to her to keep her safe, but she did find herself looking back at the hotel. She needed to start making the right choices for herself, though she did feel somewhat guilty. Fare thee well, Sky Pirate. She thought to herself. He didn't mater any more; now she had to babysit Nadeline. The pair quietly and quickly followed the soldiers, stopping just outside the Aerodome. There she saw a tall, white haired man awaiting the soldiers.

"Marquis Roman?" Nadeline whispered, raising an eyebrow. The girls strained to hear his words, but it was proving to be a challenge. They managed to grasp the final bits: "--Secure the Aerodome and make sure Carlo is returned safely." He had said, and with that the soldiers entered. Emiri had a feeling a fight was about to break out...
Nadeline walked through the streets of Bhujerba, her steps were quick and light as her heels clacked against the ground. She inhaled deeply, frustrated that once again, she was ignored. Her aunt, Empress Reia, was full set on way with Archades--it didn't help that they reciprocated the hostility. With Archades' invasion of Dalmasca, things had come to a boil, any small movement would cause the put to overflow, so to speak. One thing was stopping Reia from outright declaring war, and even then it was only a matter of time before she acquired the 'weapon' she kept rambling on and on about. Her father, Lorenzo, tried to shield her from such matters: war was a terrible thing, and so long as she stayed in the capital, she would be safe.

And what of her people? Reia cared only for victory, as anyone who perished was simply not strong enough to live. This of course included civilians and travelers and all who would get caught in between. Dalmasca would turn into a battlefield, just like Nabudis had all those years ago. But no one would listen! No wonder peace so was fragile; everyone insisted on shedding blood rather then try to understand one another. Nadeline huffed rather indignantly, though she brushed a hand through her golden waves, trying to think. Roman said he would consider her words--she didn't doubt that sincerity. However, she feared not that he wouldn't act, but that by the time he did, it would be too late.

The girl paused in her tracks as a young boy blocked her path. He smiled up at her rather innocently, procuring a note for her. "For you." He said cheerfully.

It was seeing faces like his that wanted her to prevent the war at all costs. She smiled back, thanking the young boy and watched him run off. She frowned, somewhat; it was awful late for someone so young to be running around so freely. Nadeline unfolded the note, recognizing the handwriting almost immediately. With a cluck of her tongue, she turned around and briskly began to walk the opposite direction. Within minutes she arrived at her destination, a small night cafe by the name of Luna (fitting, she thought). Once there, she spotted two familiar faces, and walked right to them.

"And Her Highness graces us with her presence, the loveliest blossom in the garden." Vlyn grinned, motioning to the chair across from his.

Nadeline took a seat next to Aloa, and took the cup of coffee offered to her. "What exactly are you doing here, Vlyn?" She asked rather curtly.

"We should be asking you the same thing." Aloa murmured from her own cup, though her eyes were gentle. "Truly you do not wish to trouble your family with your disappearance."

Nadeline raised a perfectly groomed eyebrow. "And you two are up to no good, I presume." She scoffed, a frown on her face. "Still tracking down the crazy delusions of my dear aunt? How entertaining, running after an imaginary power that cannot exist."

"You wound me with your words." Vlyn feigned injury.

"An imaginary power...no, it is very real, Your Highness." Aloa sighed, putting down her cup. "We shall be taking it soon."

At this, Nadeline was shocked, so to speak. Aloa was never one to agree with the Empress on anything, but at this moment she had confirmed that she was indeed right. Vlyn was quite amused at her expression, chuckling slightly. "This cannot be." Nadeline actually slumped back in her seat, her heart pounding something fierce. She then sat right back up, glaring at Vlyn. "Surely you do not mean to simply hand it over to the Empress, do you?"

"Lest you forget not many people have your position. We cannot be defiant of our wicked ruler." Aloa replied lazily. "To do so would cause Harris much trouble. You know how our loyalties lie simply with him. As such we carry out his commands--even if they are the wishes of that Hume woman."

Nnadeline placed her head in her arms. This was unbelievable, truly it was. She could imagine it now, Dalmasca's destruction was imminent. Truly at this moment she indeed felt powerless. There was no way she could stop her aunt should the weapon fall into her hands. She then looked up, a fierce look in her eyes. "Give me the weapon."

At this, Vlyn suddenly turned very serious. "Forgive me, Your Highness, we can't really do that."

"Why, exactly? I am your Princess, I have the authority to do so."

"He means it in a literal sense. The so called weapon takes the form of a Hume child, much like yourself." Aloa gently explained. "Do not worry yourself, you may return with us. Your father will be glad to see you safe."

"And bear witness to the horrors my aunt will unleash? I think not!" Nadeline stood up. "Turn the other way! Pretend you haven't found this--this Hume! Tell me that you will not turn a blind eye to the situation!"

The Viera pair remained silent at this point. Of course they truly agreed with her, but what could they do? As soldiers they were duty bound to their country, sworn to do whatever it took to protect their country. In a twisted way, this would prevent more casualties. But Nadeline was young, she did not understand that sometimes there was little that could be done. Vlyn rubbed his temples, Aloa resumed drinking her coffee. Nadeline was hurt that they would remain silent, and she slowly sat back down. So long as she was powerless, she couldn't change anything.

"Where is this person?" She asked, more for curiosity's sake than anything else.

"In the hands of a Sky Pirate we hired." Aloa replied softly. "They're resting at the Armanda at the moment. Tomorrow we will meet in the Lhusu Mines."

Nadeline sighed, feeling rather weary at this point. She took a sip of her own drink. "Will you two be staying there tonight?"

"Yes."

"Will you be going now?"

"No. Would you like to rest?"

Nadeline nodded, and Vlyn presented a key to her. "Please go on ahead, Your Highness. We still have some business to take care of."

She nodded once more, grasping the key, and excused herself. It pained Aloa to see Her Highness so sad, and she watched her leave. The Viera then looked to Vlyn, a rather serious look on her face. "What will we do about our little problem?" She asked. "Archades' General is lurking, likely causing trouble."

Vlyn leaned back in his own chair, scratching his head. "Things can never go easily, can they?" He asked rhetorically.

"And what fun would that be?"

"Oh? Do you know how to have fun?" He was kicked from under the table. "Ow! It was a joke, woman!"

Aloa finished the rest of her drink, leaving the gil needed to pay. "She is on the move, this Ice General." Her ears twitched slightly. "This night will not be quiet, I fear we've run out of time. We should get the girl now and go."
@ Izaka - Not much to be confused about. We just started.

@ skarsgard - As the game had only Disney Villains I will be doing the same, so no. Even though Sephiroth appeared, it was clear that he had little interest in the Heartless and the events of Kingdom Hearts in general.
He didn't mean to laugh, but he did. Roman was always the gentleman, never one to disrespect anyone. He was raised better then that, anyway. He turned back to Savayna, unfazed for the most part. Yes, she was certainly making herself quite clear. But to just 'pretend it never happened'? That simply had to be a joke. And yet, just like his previous guest, she was all too serious. Thus was the source of his laugh. He strode over to Savayna, crossing his arms. "I sincerely hope this criminal is worth your time, General." He said, scratching his chin. "For you to make such a jest...you and I both know that a man in my position cannot ignore anything that happens, lest it return to haunt me."

Roman then sighed, giving off a nonchalant shrug. "Unfortunately, I do not possess what you seek." He was actually sincere on his apology. "The manager with the code is likely gone by now. Do not fret, I will send word to the Aerodome, you may possess the ship tomorrow." He then sat down, picking up the quill he had set down before Nadeline had come in. "I will remind you once more however, that you not disturb my citizens. Even your Emperor would not save you from the consequences." He said rather cheerfully, almost pleasantly, "For now I suggest you rest, for the manager will be there quite early. I do hope you catch your criminal.p"
The Marquis nodded politely. He had heard about this ship, but didn't think it was something to be remembered. Still, if it was stolen, this would be a very serious matter. He would indeed heed the General's words. The Marquis nodded once more, as if confirming his thoughts. It was then that he spoke, "It truly is a marvel in the sky. I would assume, then, that you have come to repossess it and pass judgment on its thief?" At this point he turned to the window, watching Bhujerba. "What I don't seem to understand--and please, feel free to enlighten me--is that why would you personally come here? Once more I ask for your forgiveness, but you must understand the effect you have not as a mere General, but as a person of power from Archades, my lady."

He then cleared his throat, shaking his head. "Of course, that isn't to say I will stand idly by. I will send a message to the Aerodome to take possession of the stolen airship and arrest whoever is responsible. Once they are both caught, I will gladly hand them over to you, as per protocol." This was a very subtle, yet obvious way of him asking her not to take any action. If anyone were to see the General exert her power in a foreign land, it could mean trouble. Of course, it wasn't that she didn't know--she was not a fool--but rather a gentle reminder.
"Surely you jest."

"I lie not, Marquis. I beseech you, remain neutral and nothing will ever change."

At that moment, Bhujerba had begun to sleep. That did not, however, mean that Roman's job was done. No, he worked tirelessly, endlessly. to the point where he considered his desk his resting place rather than his own bed. Still, today was a most unusual day, what with the most unusual guest he had so far. The blonde haired youth before him stood steady, speaking on behalf of Rozarria. He was well aware that the girl was someone of great importance. However, her wishes were futile, and while she remained a member of the royal family of Roselia, she was currently powerless.

Roman himself was at a loss. Archades had, for some time, been after Bhujerba for their mines. While he permitted they occupy them, he refused to give them power over the country. Things were much too tense between Archades and Rozarria; he mused that the gods were testing Ivalice. Surely, she would erupt, with Humes holding the torches to their own destruction. He let out a weary sigh, and once again looked to the young woman standing before him. "Her Royal Highness, Princess Nadeline Lenore of House Roselia, second in line for the throne. I will take your words into consideration. I ask, however, that you return from whence you came."

Madeline nodded, slightly bowing, and left promptly. Her appearance was one that was surprising, but not moreso then his next guest. His attendant revealed to him that Archades' General was at his doorstep--quite literally, in fact. He nodded, beckoning the lady in, and arose from his seat. "I knew it was only a matter of time before you appeared." He stated, chuckling slightly. "I must ask you, General Glacie, what business have you in the streets of Bhujerba? Your soldiers are frightening my people--I had a young boy come to me, quaking in fear for his life."
